  • Dot Net Nuke app_offline randomly being generated

    - by chelfers
    We have had multiple DNN sites running for quite a few months now without any issues. Twice in the last 3 days our sites have gone offline by the addition of the app_offline.htm file in the root dir. There is only one developer with access to the sites at a coding / directory viewing level and the file is generated at weird times times when he is NOT accessing our network. We are not publishing anything to the server ( and have not published any .net code in days ), upgrading, changing code, or even modifying content. Has anyone run into this issue?

  • Rewrite URLs for DNN

    - by codemypantsoff
    I have a site and already trying to do a little url rewritting but want to know if there is a solution to make it better my current state urls look like this http://snit.us/Home/tabid/314/CN/1/RE/23/United_States_Missouri.aspx I want to change them to something more ordered so in my new scheme i want to do this http://snit.us/Home/United_States/Missouri/default.aspx obviously the point is that if i remove missouri from the new url it would find all United_States - etc etc etc even better would be to have http://snit.us/Home/United_States/Missouri so its even less cluttered

  • Django - Tips to avoid repeating code in views

    - by D Roddis
    I'm moving from a PHP background into Django development via python, mostly for the sake of tackling a MVC (or MVT) that I feel makes the most sense, although in this pattern I've started to notice a lot of repeated code in my views. For example, when logged in I have information regarding the user that I would like to appear on every page, although when using render_to_response and in every view this is required I have to grab the information and pass it to the render_to_response function. I'm wondering what would be the most efficient way to cut down on the duplicate code which would in essence be required in all views in a particular app. Thanks in advance.

  • Can't display Tool Tips in VC++6.0

    - by Paul
    I'm missing something fundamental, and probably both simple and obvious. My issue: I have a view (CPlaybackView, derived from CView). The view displays a bunch of objects derived from CRectTracker (CMpRectTracker). These objects each contain a floating point member. I want to display that floating point member when the mouse hovers over the CMpRectTracker. The handler method is never executed, although I can trace through OnIntitialUpdate, PreTranslateMessage, and OnMouseMove. This is in Visual C++ v. 6.0. Here's what I've done to try to accomplish this: 1. In the view's header file: public: BOOL OnToolTipNeedText(UINT id, NMHDR * pNMHDR, LRESULT * pResult); private: CToolTipCtrl m_ToolTip; CMpRectTracker *m_pCurrentRectTracker;//Derived from CRectTracker 2. In the view's implementation file: a. In Message Map: ON_NOTIFY_EX(TTN_NEEDTEXT,0,OnToolTipNeedText) b. In CPlaybackView::OnInitialUpdate: if (m_ToolTip.Create(this, TTS_ALWAYSTIP) && m_ToolTip.AddTool(this)) { m_ToolTip.SendMessage(TTM_SETMAXTIPWIDTH, 0, SHRT_MAX); m_ToolTip.SendMessage(TTM_SETDELAYTIME, TTDT_AUTOPOP, SHRT_MAX); m_ToolTip.SendMessage(TTM_SETDELAYTIME, TTDT_INITIAL, 200); m_ToolTip.SendMessage(TTM_SETDELAYTIME, TTDT_RESHOW, 200); } else { TRACE("Error in creating ToolTip"); } this->EnableToolTips(); c. In CPlaybackView::OnMouseMove: if (::IsWindow(m_ToolTip.m_hWnd)) { m_pCurrentRectTracker = NULL; m_ToolTip.Activate(FALSE); if(m_rtMilepostRect.HitTest(point) >= 0) { POSITION pos = pDoc->m_rtMilepostList.GetHeadPosition(); while(pos) { CMpRectTracker tracker = pDoc->m_rtMilepostList.GetNext(pos); if(tracker.HitTest(point) >= 0) { m_pCurrentRectTracker = &tracker; m_ToolTip.Activate(TRUE); break; } } } } d. In CPlaybackView::PreTranslateMessage: if (::IsWindow(m_ToolTip.m_hWnd) && pMsg->hwnd == m_hWnd) { switch(pMsg->message) { case WM_LBUTTONDOWN: case WM_MOUSEMOVE: case WM_LBUTTONUP: case WM_RBUTTONDOWN: case WM_MBUTTONDOWN: case WM_RBUTTONUP: case WM_MBUTTONUP: m_ToolTip.RelayEvent(pMsg); break; } } e. Finally, the handler method: BOOL CPlaybackView::OnToolTipNeedText(UINT id, NMHDR * pNMHDR, LRESULT * pResult) { BOOL bHandledNotify = FALSE; CPoint CursorPos; VERIFY(::GetCursorPos(&CursorPos)); ScreenToClient(&CursorPos); CRect ClientRect; GetClientRect(ClientRect); // Make certain that the cursor is in the client rect, because the // mainframe also wants these messages to provide tooltips for the // toolbar. if (ClientRect.PtInRect(CursorPos)) { TOOLTIPTEXT *pTTT = (TOOLTIPTEXT *)pNMHDR; CString str; str.Format("%f", m_pCurrentRectTracker->GetMilepost()); ASSERT(str.GetLength() < sizeof(pTTT->szText)); ::strcpy(pTTT->szText, str); bHandledNotify = TRUE; } return bHandledNotify; }

  • Tips for documenting a web application?

    - by Pandiya Chendur
    I know that I can take my asp.net application and get it reversed to a UML document, but that doesn't tell the whole story of things like who can use what, what it calls in the way of stored procedures, what pages call what pages etc. etc. Does anyone know of an article where someone has a comprehensive way to document a web application/site? Or shall I just make up my own way?

  • Team working on Drupal - Tips

    - by fighella
    I am working on a Drupal site with a few friends. Obviously we can Version control the code... but what do we do to keep each others databases in check? I have managed to get all the theming into files (contemplate etc), but ideally my views settings, menu settings would be in line also... (Not worried about Content either way as we're just building the framework) Any suggestions?

  • Share your conky tips / scripts / .conkyrc

    - by Chad Birch
    I've just started tinkering with conky, and I'm hoping the StackOverflow crowd can share some of the cool things they've done with this tool. Scripts and .conkyrc files specifically geared towards developers would be especially good to see. Some good examples of developer-centric functions would be repository-monitors or heck, even something that monitors StackOverflow. Screenshots of what the functionality actually looks like would be appreciated as well.

  • DOT NET NUKE URL PROBLEM

    - by user311166

  • PC reboots spontaenously: debugging tips [closed]

    - by aaron
    I swapped my core 2 duo for a quad core recently, and generally things run fine, but every now and then my computer just restarts. I don't even get a blue screen (Vista 32). Core temp isn't a problem. My thinking is that my power supply is inadequate, but I haven't been able to test that (one idea was to under clock the cpu to see if that helped, but going up in speed was the only simple thing to do in the BIOS) Two cases where I semi-consistanly get problems: - Borderlands windowed after some period of time (and some other games, but Borderlands does it pretty regularly) - watching a video (e.g. quicktime/vlc) and having another video running Another thought is non-cpu heat? Maybe the graphics card? Any thoughts on how to track this down appreciated. Thanks!

  • Tips for submitting a library to Boost?

    - by AraK
    Hi everyone, Summer is coming, and a group of friends and I are getting ready for it :) We decided to build a compile-time Arbitrary precision Unsigned Integers. We would like to provide a set of integers algorithms(functions) with the library. We have seen a number of requests for such a library(SoC2010, C++0x Standard Library wishlist). Also, a regular run-time bigint is requested usually with that, but we don't want to go into the hassle of memory management. The idea came to me from a library called TTMath, unfortunately this library works only on specific platforms because Assembly was used extensively in the library. We would like to write a standard library, depending on the C++ standard library and Boost. Also, we would like to use the available C++0x facilities in current compilers like user-defined literals and others. This would technically make the library non-standard for a while, but we think that it is a matter of time the new standards will be official. Your hints on the whole process including design, implementation, documentation, maintainable of the library are more than welcom. We are a group of students and fresh graduates who are looking for something interesting in the summer, but we see that Boost is full of gurus and we don't want to forget something too obvious. We are communicating on-line, so there is no shared white-boards :( Thanks,

  • Tips on how to deploy C++ code to work every where

    - by User1
    I'm not talking about making portable code. This is more a question of distribution. I have a medium-sized project. It has several dependencies on common libraries (eg openssl, zlib, etc). It compiles fine on my machine and now it's time to give it to the world. Essentially build engineering at its finest. I want to make installers for Windows, Linux, MacOSX, etc. I want to make a downloadable tar ball that will make the code work with a ./configure and a make (probably via autoconf). It would be icing on the cake to have a make option that would build the installers..maybe even cross-compile so a Windows installer could be built in Linux. What is the best strategy? Where can I expect to spend the most time? Should the prime focus be autoconf or are there other tools that can help?

  • UI Design Tips and Tutorials for Android

    - by Omega
    Does anyone have any good pointers on designing the UI for an android application and some good practises? Obviously I'm aware of the basic principles involved with designing the layout in XML. Also, that you have a stack of activities. But I'm interested in some approaches to creating the interfaces and also how to design an application around those intentions.

  • Dot Net Nuke module works in "Edit" mode but not for "View": cache problem?

    - by Godeke
    I have a DNN task that simply runs some Javascript to compute a price based on a few input fields. This module works fine on our production site, but we had a company do a skin for us to improve the look of the site and the module fails under this new system. (DNN 05.06.00 (459) although it was 5.5 prior... I updated in a futile hope that it was a bug in the old revision.) What is incredibly odd about this is that the module works fine when I'm logged in to DNN and using the Edit mode as an administrator. In this case the small snippet of JavaScript loads fine and filling the fields results in a price. On the other hand it I click "View" (or more importantly, if I'm not logged in at all) the page loads a cached copy. Even odder, I have found the cache files in \Portals\2\Cache\Pages are generated and then only the cached data is being used. When the cached copy is loaded, the JavaScript doesn't appear (it is normally created via a Page.ClientScript.RegisterClientScriptBlock(). Additionally, the button which posts the data to the server doesn't execute any of the server side code (confirmed with a debugger) but instead just reloads the cached copy. If I manually delete the files in \Portals\2\Cache\Pages then everything works properly, but I have to do so after every page load: failing to do so simply loads the page as it was last generated repeatedly. Resetting the application (either via the UI or editing web.config) doesn't change this and clearing the cache from the Host Settings page doesn't actually clear these cached pages. I'm guessing that Edit mode bypasses the cache in some way, but I have gone as far as turning off all caching on the site (which is horrible for performance) and the cached version is still loaded. Has anyone seen anything like this? Shouldn't clearing the cache clear the files (I'm using the File provider for caching)? Shouldn't even a cached page go back to the server if the user posts back? EDIT: I should point out that permissions don't appear to be a problem on the cache directory... other pages cached output are deleted from this folder, just this page has this issue. EDIT 2: Clarifying some settings and conditions which I didn't provide. First, this module works fine in production under DNN 5.6.0. In our test environment with the consulting company's changes it fails (the changes are skin and page layout only in theory: the module source itself verifies as unchanged). All cache settings and the like have been verified the same between the two and we only resorted to setting the module cache to 0 and -1 (and disabling the test site's cache entirely) when we couldn't find another cause for the problem. I have watched the cache work correctly on many other pages in test: there is something about this page that is causing the problem. We have punted and are creating an installable skin based on the consultant's work as I suspect they have somehow corrupted the DNN install (database side I think).

  • [Python] Tips for making a fraction calculator code more optimized (faster and using less memory)

    - by Logic Named Joe
    Hello Everyone, Basicly, what I need for the program to do is to act a as simple fraction calculator (for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) for the a single line of input, for example: -input: 1/7 + 3/5 -output: 26/35 My initial code: import sys def euclid(numA, numB): while numB != 0: numRem = numA % numB numA = numB numB = numRem return numA for wejscie in sys.stdin: wyjscie = wejscie.split(' ') a, b = [int(x) for x in wyjscie[0].split("/")] c, d = [int(x) for x in wyjscie[2].split("/")] if wyjscie[1] == '+': licz = a * d + b * c mian= b * d nwd = euclid(licz, mian) konA = licz/nwd konB = mian/nwd wynik = str(konA) + '/' + str(konB) print(wynik) elif wyjscie[1] == '-': licz= a * d - b * c mian= b * d nwd = euclid(licz, mian) konA = licz/nwd konB = mian/nwd wynik = str(konA) + '/' + str(konB) print(wynik) elif wyjscie[1] == '*': licz= a * c mian= b * d nwd = euclid(licz, mian) konA = licz/nwd konB = mian/nwd wynik = str(konA) + '/' + str(konB) print(wynik) else: licz= a * d mian= b * c nwd = euclid(licz, mian) konA = licz/nwd konB = mian/nwd wynik = str(konA) + '/' + str(konB) print(wynik) Which I reduced to: import sys def euclid(numA, numB): while numB != 0: numRem = numA % numB numA = numB numB = numRem return numA for wejscie in sys.stdin: wyjscie = wejscie.split(' ') a, b = [int(x) for x in wyjscie[0].split("/")] c, d = [int(x) for x in wyjscie[2].split("/")] if wyjscie[1] == '+': print("/".join([str((a * d + b * c)/euclid(a * d + b * c, b * d)),str((b * d)/euclid(a * d + b * c, b * d))])) elif wyjscie[1] == '-': print("/".join([str((a * d - b * c)/euclid(a * d - b * c, b * d)),str((b * d)/euclid(a * d - b * c, b * d))])) elif wyjscie[1] == '*': print("/".join([str((a * c)/euclid(a * c, b * d)),str((b * d)/euclid(a * c, b * d))])) else: print("/".join([str((a * d)/euclid(a * d, b * c)),str((b * c)/euclid(a * d, b * c))])) Any advice on how to improve this futher is welcome. Edit: one more thing that I forgot to mention - the code can not make use of any libraries apart from sys.

  • Tips for using Subversion and XCode in a team project

    - by FelipeUY
    Hi to all. I've been working on an Xcode (iPhone) project with three different persons. We have the project on a Subversion repository, but we still don't completely understand some aspects of the Subversion + Xcode methodology: 1) Each time someone does a commit on a single file, it may appear or not in the project of the other developers. Even though the same person that creates the new files, it adds those files to the Repository and then it commits on those files. Why does that happens? Any suggestions? 2) Each person that is involved on the project can't do a "Commit entire project" without causing a considerable headache to the rest of the developers... any idea how this should be done?. The working methodology that we are trying to implement is that only one developer (generally the leader of the project) can Commit the entire project but he must inform the rest of the team, so everybody can be prepared to receive a message asking him to discard his changes and read the new files from the repository. I need suggestions or advice on how to handle a project with multiple developers using subversion. We have read the Subversion handbook, and many other messages on StackOverflow but I still can't find any useful advice. Thanks for any tip!

  • Tools and tips for switching CMS

    - by Jimmy
    I work for a university, and in the past year we finally broke away from our static HTML site of several thousand pages and moved to a Drupal site. This obviously entails massive amounts of data entry. What if you're already using a CMS and are switching to another one that better suits your needs? How do you minimize the mountain of data entry during such a huge change? Are there tools built for this, or some best practices one should follow?
