  • Hibernate: Querying objects by attributes of inherited classes

    - by MichaelD
    Hi all, I ran into a problem with Hibernate concerning queries on classes which use inheritance. Basically I've the following class hierarchy: @Entity @Table( name = "recording" ) class Recording { ClassA attributeSet; ... } @Entity @Inheritance( strategy = InheritanceType.JOINED ) @Table( name = "classA" ) public class ClassA { String Id; ... } @Entity @Table( name = "ClassB1" ) @PrimaryKeyJoinColumn( name = "Id" ) public class ClassB1 extends ClassA { private Double P1300; private Double P2000; } @Entity @Table( name = "ClassB2" ) @PrimaryKeyJoinColumn( name = "Id" ) public class ClassB2 extends ClassA { private Double P1300; private Double P3000; } The hierarchy is already given like this and I cannot change it easily. As you can see ClassB1 and ClassB2 inherit from ClassA. Both classes contain a set of attributes which sometimes even have the same names (but I can't move them to ClassA since there are possible more sub-classes which do not use them). The Recording class references one instance of one of this classes. Now my question: What I want to do is selecting all Recording objects in my database which refer to an instance of either ClassB1 or ClassB2 with e.g. the field P1300 == 15.5 (so this could be ClassB1 or ClassB2 instances since the P1300 attribute is declared in both classes). What I tried is something like this: Criteria criteria = session.createCriteria(Recording.class); criteria.add( Restrictions.eq( "attributeSet.P1300", new Double(15.5) ) ); criteria.list(); But since P1300 is not an attribute of ClassA hibernate throws an exception telling me: could not resolve property: P1300 of: ClassA How can I tell hibernate that it should search in all subclasses to find the attribute I want to filter? Thanks MichaelD

  • P0ST variables to web server?

    - by OverTheRainbow
    Hello I've been trying several things from Google to POST data to a web server, but none of them work: I'm still stuck at how to convert the variables into the request, considering that the second variable is an SQL query so it has spaces. Does someone know the correct way to use a WebClient to POST data? I'd rather use WebClient because it requires less code than HttpWebRequest/HttpWebResponse. Here's what I tried so far: Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim wc = New WebClient() 'convert data wc.Headers.Add("Content-Type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded") Dim postData = String.Format("db={0}&query={1}", _ HttpUtility.UrlEncode("books.sqlite"), _ HttpUtility.UrlEncode("SELECT id,title FROM boooks")) 'Dim bytArguments As Byte() = Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes("db=books.sqlite|query=SELECT * FROM books") 'POST query Dim bytRetData As Byte() = wc.UploadData("http://localhost:9999/get", "POST", postData) RichTextBox1.Text = Encoding.ASCII.GetString(bytRetData) Exit Sub Dim client = New WebClient() Dim nv As New Collection nv.Add("db", "books.sqlite") nv.Add("query", "SELECT id,title FROM books") Dim address As New Uri("http://localhost:9999/get") 'Dim bytRetData As Byte() = client.UploadValues(address, "POST", nv) RichTextBox1.Text = Encoding.ASCII.GetString(bytRetData) Exit Sub 'Dim wc As New WebClient() 'convert data wc.Headers.Add("Content-Type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded") Dim bytArguments As Byte() = Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes("db=books.sqlite|query=SELECT * FROM books") 'POST query 'Dim bytRetData As Byte() = wc.UploadData("http://localhost:9999/get", "POST", bytArguments) RichTextBox1.Text = Encoding.ASCII.GetString(bytRetData) Exit Sub End Sub Thank you.

  • RSA encryption/ Decryption in a client server application

    - by user308806
    Hi guys, probably missing something very straight forward on this, but please forgive me, I'm very naive! Have a client server application where the client identifies its self with an RSA encrypted username & password. Unfortunately I'm getting a "bad padding exception: data must start with zero" when i try to decrypt with the public key on the client side. I'm fairly sure the key is correct as I have tested encrypting with public key then decrypting with private key on the client side with no problems at all. Just seems when I transfer it over the connection it messses it up somehow?! Using PrintWriter & BufferedReader on the sockets if thats of importance. EncodeBASE64 & DecodeBASE64 encode byte[] to 64base and vice versa respectively. Any ideas guys?? Client side: Socket connectionToServer = new Socket("127.0.0.1", 7050); InputStream in = connectionToServer.getInputStream(); DataInputStream dis = new DataInputStream(in); int length = dis.readInt(); byte[] data = new byte[length]; // dis.readFully(data); dis.read(data); System.out.println("The received Data*****************************************"); System.out.println("The length of bits "+ length); System.out.println(data); System.out.println("***********************************************************"); Decryption d = new Decryption(); byte [] ttt = d.decrypt(data); System.out.print(data); String ss = new String(ttt); System.out.println("***********************"); System.out.println(ss); System.out.println("************************"); Server Side: in = connectionFromClient.getInputStream(); OutputStream out = connectionFromClient.getOutputStream(); DataOutputStream dataOut = new DataOutputStream(out); LicenseList licenses = new LicenseList(); String ValidIDs = licenses.getAllIDs(); System.out.println(ValidIDs); Encryption enc = new Encryption(); byte[] encrypted = enc.encrypt(ValidIDs); byte[] dd = enc.encrypt(ValidIDs); String tobesent = new String(dd); //byte[] rsult = enc.decrypt(dd); //String tt = String(rsult); System.out.println("The sent data**********************************************"); System.out.println(dd); String temp = new String(dd); System.out.println(temp); System.out.println("*************************************************************"); //BufferedWriter bf = new BufferedWriter(OutputStreamWriter(out)); //dataOut.write(ValidIDs.getBytes().length); dataOut.writeInt(ValidIDs.getBytes().length); dataOut.flush(); dataOut.write(encrypted); dataOut.flush(); System.out.println("********Testing**************"); System.out.println("Here are the ids:::"); System.out.println(licenses.getAllIDs()); System.out.println("**********************"); //bw.write("it is working well\n");

  • Hash Digest / Array Comparison in C#

    - by Erik Karulf
    Hi All, I'm writing an application that needs to verify HMAC-SHA256 checksums. The code I currently have looks something like this: static bool VerifyIntegrity(string secret, string checksum, string data) { // Verify HMAC-SHA256 Checksum byte[] key = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(secret); byte[] value = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(data); byte[] checksum_bytes = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(checksum); using (var hmac = new HMACSHA256(key)) { byte[] expected_bytes = hmac.ComputeHash(value); return checksum_bytes.SequenceEqual(expected_bytes); } } I know that this is susceptible to timing attacks. Is there a message digest comparison function in the standard library? I realize I could write my own time hardened comparison method, but I have to believe that this is already implemented elsewhere.

  • VB .NET Shared Function if called multiple times simultaneously

    - by Mehdi Anis
    Consider I have a shared function:- Public Shared Function CalculateAreaFromRadius(ByVal radius As Double) As Double ' square the radius... Dim radiusSquared As Double radiusSquared = radius * radius ' multiply it by pi... Dim result As Double result = radiusSquared * Math.PI 'Wait a bit, for the sake of testing and 'simulate another call will be made b4 earlier one ended or such for i as Integer = 0 to integer.Max Next ' return the result... Return result End Function My Questions: If I have two or more threads in the same vb .net app and each of them calls the shared function at the same time with different RADIUS, will they each get their own AREA? I want to know for each call to the function if it is using same local variables or each call creates new instances of local variables? Will the answers to above questions be same If I have multiple (2+) single threaded apps and they all call the function at the same time with different RADIUS value? I will appreciate your reponse. Thank you.

  • Autocorrelation method for pitch determination: what is the input data form?

    - by harsh
    I have read a code for pitch determination using autocorrelation method. Can anybody please tell what would be the input data (passed as argument to DetectPitch()) function here: double DetectPitch(short* data) { int sampleRate = 2048; //Create sine wave double *buffer = malloc(1024*sizeof(short)); double amplitude = 0.25 * 32768; //0.25 * max length of short double frequency = 726.0; for (int n = 0; n < 1024; n++) { buffer[n] = (short)(amplitude * sin((2 * 3.14159265 * n * frequency) / sampleRate)); } doHighPassFilter(data); printf("Pitch from sine wave: %f\n",detectPitchCalculation(buffer, 50.0, 1000.0, 1, 1)); printf("Pitch from mic: %f\n",detectPitchCalculation(data, 50.0, 1000.0, 1, 1)); return 0; }

  • Java equivalent of the VB Request.InputStream

    - by Android Addict
    I have a web service that I am re-writing from VB to a Java servlet. In the web service, I want to extract the body entity set on the client-side as such: StringEntity stringEntity = new StringEntity(xml, HTTP.UTF_8); stringEntity.setContentType("application/xml"); httppost.setEntity(stringEntity); In the VB web service, I get this data by using: Dim objReader As System.IO.StreamReader objReader = New System.IO.StreamReader(Request.InputStream) Dim strXML As String = objReader.ReadToEnd and this works great. But I am looking for the equivalent in Java. I have tried this: ServletInputStream dataStream = req.getInputStream(); byte[] data = new byte[dataStream.toString().length()]; dataStream.read(data); but all it gets me is an unintelligible string: data = [B@68514fec Please advise. Edit Per the answers, I have tried: ServletInputStream dataStream = req.getInputStream(); ByteArrayOutputStream buffer = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); int r; byte[] data = new byte[1024*1024]; while ((r = dataStream.read(data, 0, data.length)) != -1) { buffer.write(data, 0, r); } buffer.flush(); byte[] data2 = buffer.toByteArray(); System.out.println("DATA = "+Arrays.toString(data2)); whichs yields: DATA = [] and when I try: System.out.println("DATA = "+data2.toString()); I get: DATA = [B@15282c7f So what am I doing wrong? As stated earlier, the same call to my VB service gives me the xml that I pass in.

  • Java program has errors, 80 lines of code

    - by user2961687
    I have a problem with a program. It contains a lot of errors in Eclipse. Sorry for my english and thank you in advance. Here is the task: I. Declare a class that contains private fields Jam: String taste, double weight Create constructors containing variables as parameters: (String taste, double weight), (double weight), (String taste). Parameters constructors should initialize class fields. In case the constructor does not provide the necessary parameter, it must be assumed that the field taste must have the value "No Name" and weight - 100.0. Introduce the use of all constructors creating objects that represent three kinds of jams. Note: it must be assumed that the only constructor with two parameters can be assigned to fields of the class. Declare a class Jar that contains the field Jam jam, a dedicated constructor initiating all declared fields and methods: open close isItOpen Next, create an object of class Jar and fill it with the selected type of jam, operations repeat for all the kinds of jams. This is my code this far: public class App { public static void main(String[] args) { Jam strawberry = new Jam("strawberry", 20.45); Jam raspberry = new Jam(40.50); Jam peach = new Jam("peach"); Jar jar_1 = new Jar(); Jar jar_2 = new Jar(); Jar jar_3 = new Jar(); jar_1.open(); jar_1.fillIn(strawberry); jar_2.fillIn(peach); jar_3.fillIn(raspberry); } } class Jam { String taste; double weight; public Jam(String taste, double weight) { this.taste = taste; this.weight = weight; } public Jam(double weight) { this.taste = "No name"; this.weight = weight; } public Jam(String taste) { this.taste = taste; this.weight = 100.0; } } class Jar { public Jam Jam = new Jam(); private String state_jar; public Jar() { Jam.weight = 0; Jam.taste = ""; state_jar = "closed"; } public static String open() { state_jar = open; return state_jar; } public static String close() { state_jar = "closed"; return state_jar; } public static boolean isItOpen() { return state_jar; } public void fillIn(Jam jam) { if (isItOpen == false) open(); this.Jam.weight = jam.weight; this.Jam.taste = jam.taste; this.Jam.close(); } }

  • Akima interpolation of an array of doubles

I'm too stupid to translate that mathematical description into code. // values is an array of doubles // idx is the index of the left-hand value for the current interpolation // t is the normalized parameter between values[idx] and values[idx+1] // Don't worry about array bounds, I'll handle that separately. public double InterpolateAkima(double[] values, int idx, double t) { ...? }

  • Data Structures for Junior Java Developer

    - by user1639637
    Ok,still learning Arrays. I wrote this code which fills the array named "rand" with random numbers between 0 and 1( exclusive). I want to start learning Complexity. the For loop executes n times (100 times) ,every time it takes O(1) time,so the worse case scenario is O(n),am I right? Also,I used ArrayList to store the 100 elements and I imported "Collections" and used Collections.sort() method to sort the elements. import java.util.Arrays; public class random { public static void main(String args[]) { double[] rand=new double[10]; for(int i=0;i<rand.length;i++) { rand[i]=(double) Math.random(); System.out.println(rand[i]); } Arrays.sort(rand); System.out.println(Arrays.toString(rand)); } } ArrayList: import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.Collections; public class random { public static void main(String args[]) { ArrayList<Double> MyArrayList=new ArrayList<Double>(); for(int i=0;i<100;i++) { MyArrayList.add(Math.random()); } Collections.sort(MyArrayList); for(int j=0;j<MyArrayList.size();j++) { System.out.println(MyArrayList.get(j)); } } }

  • Detection of negative integers using bit operations

    - by Nawaz
    One approach to check if a given integer is negative or not, could be this: (using bit operations) int num_bits = sizeof(int) * 8; //assuming 8 bits per byte! int sign_bit = given_int & (1 << (num_bits-1)); //sign_bit is either 1 or 0 if ( sign_bit ) { cout << "given integer is negative"<<endl; } else { cout << "given integer is positive"<<endl; } The problem with this solution is that number of bits per byte couldn't be 8, it could be 9,10, 11 even 16 or 40 bits per byte. Byte doesn't necessarily mean 8 bits! Anyway, this problem can be easily fixed by writing, //CHAR_BIT is defined in limits.h int num_bits = sizeof(int) * CHAR_BIT; //no assumption. It seems fine now. But is it really? Is this Standard conformant? What if the negative integer is not represented as 2's complement? What if it's representation in a binary numeration system that doesn't necessitate only negative integers to have 1 in it's most significant bit? Can we write such code that will be both portable and standard conformant? Related topics: Size of Primitive data types Why is a boolean 1 byte and not 1 bit of size?

  • Using LINQ to Obtain Max of Columns for Two Dimensional Arrays

    - by Ngu Soon Hui
    Is there anyway to use LINQ to obtain the maximum of each columns for two dimensional arrays? Assume that I have the following: var arrays = new double[5,100](); I want to get the maximum of arrays[0,:], arrays[1,:] .... arrays[4,:]. How to use LINQ to do it? I could have use such method public double GetMax(double[,] arr, int rowIndex) { var colCount = arr.GetLength(1); double max = 0.0; for(int i=0; i<colCount; i++) { max=Math.Max(Math.Abs(arr[rowIndex, i]), max); } return max; } But I would prefer a more succinct ways of doing things.

  • C 64-bit Pointer Alignment

    - by DuneBug
    Are pointers on a 64-bit system still 4 byte aligned (similar to a double on a 32 bit system)? Or are they note 8 byte aligned? For example, on a 64-bit system how big is the following data structure: struct a { void* ptr; char myChar; } Would the pointer by 8 byte aligned, causing 7 bytes of padding for the character (total = 8 + 8 = 16)? Or would the pointer be 4 byte aligned (4 bytes + 4 bytes) causing 3 bytes of padding (total = 4 + 4 + 4 = 12)? Thanks, Ryan

  • Supporting Piping (A Useful Hello World)

    - by blastthisinferno
    I am trying to write a collection of simple C++ programs that follow the basic Unix philosophy by: Make each program do one thing well. Expect the output of every program to become the input to another, as yet unknown, program. I'm having an issue trying to get the output of one to be the input of the other, and getting the output of one be the input of a separate instance of itself. Very briefly, I have a program add which takes arguments and spits out the summation. I want to be able to pipe the output to another add instance. ./add 1 2 | ./add 3 4 That should yield 6 but currently yields 10. I've encountered two problems: The cin waits for user input from the console. I don't want this, and haven't been able to find a simple example showing a the use of standard input stream without querying the user in the console. If someone knows of an example please let me know. I can't figure out how to use standard input while supporting piping. Currently, it appears it does not work. If I issue the command ./add 1 2 | ./add 3 4 it results in 7. The relevant code is below: add.cpp snippet // ... COMMAND LINE PROCESSING ... std::vector<double> numbers = multi.getValue(); // using TCLAP for command line parsing if (numbers.size() > 0) { double sum = numbers[0]; double arg; for (int i=1; i < numbers.size(); i++) { arg = numbers[i]; sum += arg; } std::cout << sum << std::endl; } else { double input; // right now this is test code while I try and get standard input streaming working as expected while (std::cin) { std::cin >> input; std::cout << input << std::endl; } } // ... MORE IRRELEVANT CODE ... So, I guess my question(s) is does anyone see what is incorrect with this code in order to support piping standard input? Are there some well known (or hidden) resources that explain clearly how to implement an example application supporting the basic Unix philosophy? @Chris Lutz I've changed the code to what's below. The problem where cin still waits for user input on the console, and doesn't just take from the standard input passed from the pipe. Am I missing something trivial for handling this? I haven't tried Greg Hewgill's answer yet, but don't see how that would help since the issue is still with cin. // ... COMMAND LINE PROCESSING ... std::vector<double> numbers = multi.getValue(); // using TCLAP for command line parsing double sum = numbers[0]; double arg; for (int i=1; i < numbers.size(); i++) { arg = numbers[i]; sum += arg; } // right now this is test code while I try and get standard input streaming working as expected while (std::cin) { std::cin >> arg; std::cout << arg << std::endl; } std::cout << sum << std::endl; // ... DocumentList dt = new DocumentList(fileWordList, fileUriType, fileUri, cosineSimilarityRatio, diceSimilarityRatio, extendedJaccardSimilarityRatio); documentList.Add(dt); ... dataGrid1.Items.Add(dt); ... It creates an empty row into dataGrid1 and no text is shown there. my xaml implementation is this: <GroupBox Canvas.Left="-0.003" Canvas.Top="0" Header="Display Results" Height="427.5" Name="groupBox2" Width="645.56"> <toolkit:DataGrid Canvas.Left="137.5" Canvas.Top="240" Height="392" Name="dgrDocumentList" Width="627" ItemsSource="{Binding DocumentList }"> <toolkit:DataGrid.Columns> <toolkit:DataGridTextColumn Header="Type" Binding="{Binding type}" IsReadOnly="True"> </toolkit:DataGridTextColumn> <toolkit:DataGridHyperlinkColumn Header="Uri" Binding="{Binding path}" IsReadOnly="True"> </toolkit:DataGridHyperlinkColumn> <toolkit:DataGridTextColumn Header="Cosine" Binding="{Binding cos}" IsReadOnly="True"> </toolkit:DataGridTextColumn> <toolkit:DataGridTextColumn Header="Dice" Binding="{Binding dice}" IsReadOnly="True"> </toolkit:DataGridTextColumn> <toolkit:DataGridTextColumn Header="Jaccard" Binding="{Binding jaccard}" IsReadOnly="True"> </toolkit:DataGridTextColumn> </toolkit:DataGrid.Columns> </toolkit:DataGrid> </GroupBox> and my DocumentList class class DocumentList { public List<WordList> wordList; public string type; public string path; public double cos; public double dice; public double jaccard; //public static string title; public DocumentList(List<WordList> wordListt, string typee, string pathh, double sm11, double sm22, double sm33) { type = typee; wordList = wordListt; path = pathh; cos = sm11; dice = sm22; jaccard = sm33; } I would like to do that: When i add a new element into documentList instance, would like to see the results on data grid. Thank you in advance.

  • Extend and Overload MS and Point Types

    - by dr d b karron
    Do I have make my own Point and Vector types to overload them ? Why does this not work ? namespace System . windows { public partial struct Point : IFormattable { public static Point operator * ( Point P , double D ) { Point Po = new Point ( ); return Po; } } } namespace SilverlightApplication36 { public partial class MainPage : UserControl { public static void ShrinkingRectangle ( WriteableBitmap wBM , int x1 , int y1 , int x2 , int y2 , Color C ) { wBM . DrawRectangle ( x1 , y1 , x2 , y2 , Colors . Red ); Point Center = Mean ( x1 , y1 , x2 , y2 ); wBM . SetPixel ( Center , Colors.Blue , 3 ); Point P1 = new Point ( x1 , y1 ); Point P2 = new Point ( x1 , y2 ); Point P3 = new Point ( x1 , y2 ); Point P4 = new Point ( x2 , y1 ); const int Steps = 10; for ( int i = 0 ; i < Steps ; i++ ) { double iF = (double)(i+1) / (double)Steps; double jF = ( 1.0 - iF ); Point P11 = **P1 * jF;** } }

  • Different return value of an overridden class

    - by Samer Afach
    I have a simple but confusing question here. Is it legal to have a different return value type for overridden methods than the abstact ones defined in the base class?? I did that and the compiler didn't complain... could someone please explain? class MyBaseClass { int value; public: virtual int getValue() = 0; }; class MyClass : public MyBaseClass { double value; public: virtual double getValue(); // here!!! return is double, not int }; double MyClass::getValue() { return this->value; } The compiler totally accepted something similar (MSVC und MinGW)... could anyone please exaplain to what extent this is legal?

  • Odd C++ template behaviour with static member vars

    - by jon hanson
    This piece of code is supposed to calculate an approximation to e (i.e. the mathematical constant ~ 2.71828183) at compile-time, using the following approach; e1 = 2 / 1 e2 = (2 * 2 + 1) / (2 * 1) = 5 / 2 = 2.5 e3 = (3 * 5 + 1) / (3 * 2) = 16 / 6 ~ 2.67 e4 = (4 * 16 + 1) / (4 * 6) = 65 / 24 ~ 2.708 ... e(i) = (e(i-1).numer * i + 1) / (e(i-1).denom * i) The computation is returned via the result static member however, after 2 iterations it yields zero instead of the expected value. I've added a static member function f() to compute the same value and that doesn't exhibit the same problem. #include <iostream> #include <iomanip> // Recursive case. template<int ITERS, int NUMERATOR = 2, int DENOMINATOR = 1, int I = 2> struct CalcE { static const double result; static double f () {return CalcE<ITERS, NUMERATOR * I + 1, DENOMINATOR * I, I + 1>::f ();} }; template<int ITERS, int NUMERATOR, int DENOMINATOR, int I> const double CalcE<ITERS, NUMERATOR, DENOMINATOR, I>::result = CalcE<ITERS, NUMERATOR * I + 1, DENOMINATOR * I, I + 1>::result; // Base case. template<int ITERS, int NUMERATOR, int DENOMINATOR> struct CalcE<ITERS, NUMERATOR, DENOMINATOR, ITERS> { static const double result; static double f () {return result;} }; template<int ITERS, int NUMERATOR, int DENOMINATOR> const double CalcE<ITERS, NUMERATOR, DENOMINATOR, ITERS>::result = static_cast<double>(NUMERATOR) / DENOMINATOR; // Test it. int main (int argc, char* argv[]) { std::cout << std::setprecision (8); std::cout << "e2 ~ " << CalcE<2>::result << std::endl; std::cout << "e3 ~ " << CalcE<3>::result << std::endl; std::cout << "e4 ~ " << CalcE<4>::result << std::endl; std::cout << "e5 ~ " << CalcE<5>::result << std::endl; std::cout << std::endl; std::cout << "e2 ~ " << CalcE<2>::f () << std::endl; std::cout << "e3 ~ " << CalcE<3>::f () << std::endl; std::cout << "e4 ~ " << CalcE<4>::f () << std::endl; std::cout << "e5 ~ " << CalcE<5>::f () << std::endl; return 0; } I've tested this with VS 2008 and VS 2010, and get the same results in each case: e2 ~ 2 e3 ~ 2.5 e4 ~ 0 e5 ~ 0 e2 ~ 2 e3 ~ 2.5 e4 ~ 2.6666667 e5 ~ 2.7083333 Why does result not yield the expected values whereas f() does? According to Rotsor's comment below, this does work with GCC, so I guess the question is, am i relying on some type of undefined behaviour with regards to static initialisation order, or is this a bug with Visual Studio?
