  • Google Maps API - load the US

    I am new to google maps api. I'd like suggestions on achieving the following functionality: whenever the page loads, the map will load centered around the US. Imagine a box around the US with given lat/longs specifying the minimum and maximum boundaries. I need the map to load at the appropriate zoom (and zoom needs to be disabled) such that this box composes the entire map. Basically, I'm wondering if there is a function that loads the map based on lat/long boundaries (or some way to acheive this), rather then loading the map given a zoom level.

    So I have a situation where I need to make binary patches and then be able to apply them from within python. I found bsdiff which looks like a great algorithm and has a python extension module, but that extension module doesn't have a windows installer past Python 2.5 Alright, so having never even written C seriously, let alone attempted a python extension module, I set out to compile it myself. After a few hours of bashing my head against a DLL load error with MinGW32, I managed to get it compiled and built using the setup.py provided in the source of the project. However, upon importing the resulting bsdiff module, I get: ImportError: DLL load failed: %1 is not a valid Win32 application. Any advice?

    I want to cache data in a java web application deployed on multiple instances. We are using spring 2.5.6. What is the easiest caching library to configure and use with spring? I have heard of EH Cache, but the configuration is too cumbersome. The requirement is that a spring scheduler will run and set some flags. These flags are accessible from all load balanced instances. But since the scheduler runs only on one instance the flag is set only on that jvm. So how do i make these updated flag values available to all load balanced instances?

  • Django: IE doesn't load locahost or loads very SLOWLY

    I'm just starting to learn Django, building a project on my computer, running Windows 7 64-bit, Python 2.7, Django 1.3. Basically whatever I write, it loads in Chrome and Firefox instantly. But for IE (version 9), it just stalls there, and does nothing. I can load up "http://127.0.0.1:8000" on IE and leave the computer on for hours and it doesn't load. Sometimes, when I refresh a couple of times or restart IE it'll work. If I change something in the code, again, Chrome and Firefox reflects changes instantly, whereas IE doesn't - if it loads the page at all. What is going on? I'm losing my mind here....

    The main page ("parent.html") has a link that ajaxloads a page ("page1.html") into a div ("targetdiv") in the main page, like so: parent html: $("#targetdiv").html(loading).load('page1.html'); This works fine and "page1.html" is loaded into "targetdiv". The "page1.html" also has a link in it that is supposed to ajaxload another page ("page2.html") into "targetdiv" (onto itself), like so: page1.html: (in "targetdiv") $("#targetdiv").html(loading).load('page2.html'); This does not work; "html(loading)" comes up in "targetdiv" and stays there, "page2.html" is not loaded.     Hi, I am trying to load just the contents of a <div> into another <div> on the same page using a jquery function. But when the function triggers, it loads the entire <HTML> document into the specified <div>. Any idea why it would be doing this?     I need to load a library written in C on java. I have only dlls and header files. Since I didn't understand how to translate pointers or other derivated types from JNI documentation I tried to use an automating tool for this, gluegen and SWIG, but I couldn't manage on how to use them. I tried to create an interface file for SWIG but it only gives errors. Is there an example on how to load a dll to a java program using ANY tool that works and can generate translated C function and types from .h files ?

  • IE8 $('body').width() is 0 on $(window).load()

    On $(document).ready I run through a for loop twice and alert out the body's width ($('body').width();) each time through. I get a value I would expect (ex. 1092). On $(window).load I run through another for loop twice, also alerting out the body's width each time through. I get 0 the first time through (and the page looks completely blank behind the alert), and then a value I would expect the second time through (ex. 1092). This is an issue I am not able to replicate in a stripped-down example, nor any other browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, IE9, IE10). Does anyone have any ideas, or other things that I could test for? I am using $(window).load to cut up some divs based on their width, which is based on their font size, which is based on a webfont (which isn't necessarily loaded by the time $(document).ready fires).

    I rather enjoy adding practical eye-candy to the networking community I've been developing but as things start to stack up I worry about load times. Is it truly faster to have users load (a hopefully cached) copy of jquery from Google's repositories? Does using jQuery for AJAX calls improve/reduce efficiency over basic javascript xmlHTTP requests? Is there a practical way to cut down the number of included scripts? For example, I include jQuery and jQuery UI from google, table sorter, and a growl plug-in.

    As per various blogs, HAproxy can be gracefully restarted using the following command: sudo haproxy -f /etc/haproxy/haproxy.cfg -p /var/run/haproxy.pid -sf $(cat /var/run/haproxy.pid) TO verify this, I had set up a apache bench script which contiguously sent message to haproxy. Ideally, whenever I restarted my server the script should not have an affect on the apache bunch execiton. But, it seems that whenever Haproxy is restarted apache bench scripts terminate and the connection to load balancer is lost.     Because Nginx requires the geoip_ directives to go into the main http{ } block of the nginx.conf file, does that mean the geoip data is being pulled for every single request? In other words, does EngineX look up the geoip data for ALL of the requests coming in, even for those not needing the data?   • getting bash to load my PATH over SSH

    This problem comes up with me trying to make svnserve (Subversion server) available on a server through SSH. I compiled SVN and installed it in $HOME/bin. Local access to it (not through SSH) works fine. Connections to svn+ssh fail due to: bash: svnserve: command not found Debugging this, I've found that: ssh user@server "which svnserve" says: which: no svnserve in (/usr/bin:/bin) This is strange, because I've updated the path to $HOME/bin in my .bashrc, and also added it in ~/.ssh/environment. However, it seems like the SSH doesn't read it. Although when I run: ssh user@server "echo $PATH" It does print my updated path! What's going on here? How can I make SSH find my svnserve?   • coordinating a script to run on only one of identical load-balanced servers

    I have two identically configured CentOS 5 servers (possibly more in the future). I need to run a cron job on any one of them and that it'll run only on one of them. I know about RedHat Cluster Suite (we use it on other servers), but it's a too big a gun to use for this task, plus it doesn't really behave well for less than three nodes. Is there anything light-weight I can use for that? The servers can communicate with each other directly. I suppose I can develope something over ssh or nrpe (two server which are already installed on these servers), but I was wondering whether there is something already available.

  • Clicking a link in IE6 doesn't load page (internal DNS entry on our intranet)

    I have a very strange problem that is only affecting some versions of IE6. The problem does affect IE 6.0.2900.5512, but does not seem to affect 6.0.3790.3959 Basically I work for a company and we have an intranet. While I'm not an expert on "internal DNS pointers", what I was able to do was create a website (let's say about football), and when an employee who is sitting behind the company firewall types the word "football" in to the web address bar of their web browser, they get redirected to a particular server. I am told this is some kind "internally pointing DNS entry". So, I've set one of these up, and I have a placed a link to it on our company intranet page. However, when the link is clicked in IE6.0.2900.5512, the page goes blank. Clicking "refresh" then loads the correct page (the one specified in the link). Can anyone help me out here. I have tried changing the way URL is formed, everything from //football to http://football/ etc. The link works fine in every other browser and IE7+, but unfoturnatly, IE6 is still the most common browser in use at my organisation.

    I am not very experienced with configuring httpd, and I am following a tutorial to view my site w/ domain name under localhost. My localhost just blanks out and my apache services won't restart. I checked all of my paths and they are correct. I am editing the w*indows/system32/drivers/etc/host*s file and my apache httpd file.
