  So I am running Windows 7 as my only OS. I have two hard drives on my computer. The first one is a 74GB Western Digital 10K RPM Raptor. The second one is a 1TB Seagate Barracuda (couldn't remember if it was a 7200.12 or some other decimal after the 7200). The OS in installed to the Raptor and I am just using the Barracuda for storage. With this setup, in case you couldn't guess already, the Raptor fills up quick and I am constantly having to maintain file locations. And although it is nice to have that quicker boot time and program loading, the time spent maintaining the drive makes me waste more time overall. So I am looking for a way to try to keep it clear while still keeping up system loading speeds. A performance hit on games and such is easily acceptable and as long as I can guarantee a 5GB space on the Raptor, I can always just temporarily move the disc image there. So I am figuring that having games installed like Boarderlands and Mass Effect, as well as having large files such as linux distro DVD disc images in My Documents, I probably should be moving my personal files and Program Files directories to the Barracuda. I currently have folders on the Barracuda for this, but this means routinely copying files over and I can't really do anything with the Program Files folder that already exists. The best I can do is remember to designate the install directory of any program installation to the alternative install directory, which I can't seem to get to ever work right with Steam. With that in mind, is there a way that is not too drastic to let me just change some folders and system settings once and everything works fine afterwards for my setup? I have considered just reinstalling Windows 7 to the Barracuda but that would defeat the purpose of the Raptor except for running disc images off of. I am also heard a bit about being able to use symlinks to fix this, but I have also heard that symlinks in Windows are not necessarily the same and not as well supported on Windows. An example a friend mentioned was something about how if you have a symlink in Windows on a small hard drive to a large hard drive and the contents the symlink points to is larger than the small hard drive's capacity, then Windows will think the smaller hard drive is full. So is there a fix/workaround that will let me use symlinks across hard drives without the issues or is there a better solution I am not being told about, not mentioning, or not thinking of?

  I am creating a library API which will take the backup of all the VM's running on KVM hypervisor. My VM's can be of any type. I am taking this backup from a remote machine and need to put the backup at remote server. I have KVM, Libvirt installed on my system. Some of my VM's are LVM based and some are normal VM's running on KVM. I research and found out an excellent perl script for taking the backup http://pof.eslack.org/2010/12/23/best-solution-to-fully-backup-kvm-virtual-machines/ but since I am developing this library in C++ I cannot use it however it has given me a good understanding of how it will work. One thing I didnot able to sort out is if my VM's are not created using virt-manager or are created using any other tool them virsh system list command does not give them in the list of running VM's however they are running perfectly on my KVM server. Is there a way to list these VM's in my system list anyhow? secondly, when I am taking backup from the remote machine I am getting out of my ssh mode as soon as my libvirt command finishes and for every command I need to ssh again, Is there a way that I do not need to ssh each and every time? I have already used the rsa key for ssh but when once my command finishes my control moves to the remote machine again and try to find out my source VM location in remote machine's local drives which in turn fails it. here is the main problem I am facing. also for the LVM based VM I am able to take the live backup but for non LVM based my machines are getting suspended and not been able to take the live backup. Since my library will work on the remote machine only I might not know the VM's configruation on the KVM server. so need to make it consistent for all the VM's. Please share any thing related to this issue so that I may be able to take the live backup of the non lvm vm's also. I'll update my working and any research findings time to time to all of you. • Securing a license key with RSA key.

  Hello, it's late, I'm tired, and probably being quite dense.... I have written an application that I need to secure so it will only run on machines that I generate a key for. What I am doing for now is getting the BIOS serial number and generating a hash from that, I then am encrypting it using a XML RSA private key. I then sign the XML to ensure that it is not tampered with. I am trying to package the public key to decrypt and verify the signature with, but every time I try to execute the code as a different user than the one that generated the signature I get a failure on the signature. Most of my code is modified from sample code I have found since I am not as familiar with RSA encryption as I would like to be. Below is the code I was using and the code I thought I needed to use to get this working right... Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as I am quite lost at this point the original code I was working with was this, this code works fine as long as the user launching the program is the same one that signed the document originally... CspParameters cspParams = new CspParameters(); cspParams.KeyContainerName = "XML_DSIG_RSA_KEY"; cspParams.Flags = CspProviderFlags.UseMachineKeyStore; // Create a new RSA signing key and save it in the container. RSACryptoServiceProvider rsaKey = new RSACryptoServiceProvider(cspParams) { PersistKeyInCsp = true, }; This code is what I believe I should be doing but it's failing to verify the signature no matter what I do, regardless if it's the same user or a different one... RSACryptoServiceProvider rsaKey = new RSACryptoServiceProvider(); //Load the private key from xml file XmlDocument xmlPrivateKey = new XmlDocument(); xmlPrivateKey.Load("KeyPriv.xml"); rsaKey.FromXmlString(xmlPrivateKey.InnerXml); I believe this to have something to do with the key container name (Being a real dumbass here please excuse me) I am quite certain that this is the line that is both causing it to work in the first case and preventing it from working in the second case.... cspParams.KeyContainerName = "XML_DSIG_RSA_KEY"; Is there a way for me to sign/encrypt the XML with a private key when the application license is generated and then drop the public key in the app directory and use that to verify/decrypt the code? I can drop the encryption part if I can get the signature part working right. I was using it as a backup to obfuscate the origin of the license code I am keying from. Does any of this make sense?   I am not been able to update any of the attributes in one of my feature classes using the Arc FM Attribute editor, but I am able to update it thru the ESRI Attribute editor. • Simple JQuery Validator addMethod not working

  Updated question on the bottom I am trying to validate a super simple form. Eventually the username will be compared to a RegExp statement and the same will go for the password. However right now I am just trying to learn the Validator addMethod format. I currently have this script: JQuery.validator.addMethod( "legalName", function(value, element) { if (element.value == "bob") { return false; } else return true; }, "Use a valid username." ); $(document).ready(function() { $("#form1").validate({ rules: { username: { legalName: true } }, }); }); Which if I am not mistaken should return false and respond with "Use a valid username." if I were to put "bob" into the form. However, it is simply submitting it. I am linking to JQuery BEFORE Validator in the header like instructed. My uber simple form looks like this: <form id="form1" method="post" action=""> <div class="form-row"><span class="label">Username *</span><input type="text" name="username" /></div> <div class="form-row"><input class="submit" type="submit" value="Submit"></div> </form> Finally how would I go about restructing the addMethod function to return true if and false at the else stage while keeping the message alert for a false return? New Ideally, I am trying to turn this into a simple login form (username/password). It is for demonstration only so it wont have a database attached or anything, just some simple js validations. I am looking to make the username validate for <48 characters, only english letters and numbers, no special characters. I thought a whitelist would be easiest so I had something like this: ^[a-zA-Z0-9]*${1,48} but I am not sure if that is proper JS RegExp (it varies from Ruby RegExp if I am not mistaken?...Usually I use rubular.com). Password will be similar but require some upper/lowercase and numbers. I believe I need to make another $.validator.addMethod for legalPassword that will look very similar.

  Hello, I am trying to send something to serial port (r232) with PHP. I am using this class: http://www.phpclasses.org/browse/package/3679.html The problem is that I am allowed to send only 1 byte. But if I send something like "1", I am actually sending 49 (ASCII for 1). Instead of send("1"), I tried with send(1) but it is no good, because this is integer which has 2 bytes. So is there a way to send a "real" char, not ASCII equivalent?

Basically, I am trying to do the following: '# read file into a string myString = file.read() '# Attempt to remove non breaking spaces myString = myString.replace("\u00A0"," ") '# however, when I print my string to output to console, I get: Foo **<C2><A0>** Bar I thought that the "\u00A0" was the escape code for unicode non breaking spaces, but apparently I am not doing this properly.
