  • Adding IP address to OpenVZ VPS (OpenVZ Web Panel)

    I apologise if I sound at all dumb. This is my first dedicated server having used a VPS for over a year and I'm trying to setup a VPS on this new server. I purchased a subnet from my hosting provider that I believe allows me 6 usable IP addresses: 177.xx.xxx.201 - 177.xx.xxx.206 The subnet address looks like this: 177.xx.xxx.200/29. I've gone on my server and added them like it said on a wiki like so: ip addr add 177.**.***.201/29 dev eth0 I done that for all six and now when I go to them in the browser they point to my server. The problem is, I'm using OpenVZ web panel to create VMs (http://code.google.com/p/ovz-web-panel/) so I created a VM and assigned one of those IPs to it. However when SSHing to that IP it SSH's to the dedicated server and not the VM. Am I missing something?

    We have some suspicious requests to our server, 74.125.186.46 - - [24/Aug/2014:23:24:11 -0500] "GET <url> HTTP/1.1" 200 16912 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; bingbot/2.0; +http://www.bing.com/bingbot.htm)" 74.125.187.193 - - [24/Aug/2014:23:24:12 -0500] "GET <url> HTTP/1.1" 200 20119 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; bingbot/2.0; +http://www.bing.com/bingbot.htm)" As it shows, user-agent shows it is bingbot. But whois data of IP address(74.125.186.46 and 74.125.187.193) shows it is from google servers. So is it Google,Bing or any other content scrappers?

  • Allowing users to create an email address

    I am creating a website and would like to allow users to create their own email forward. Basically, the site will allow groups to create pages on the site, each of which will be able to have its own domain name. I would like users to be able to automatically create an email address on the site that will forward any incoming emails to their own email account. Right now I have to manually set these up in my hosting account control panel but I'm hoping there is a way to do this automatically. Does anyone have experience with doing something similar?

  • iptables -L lags on non localhost or anywhere address

    I am trying to configure iptables for ubuntu 10.04 and I have a problem with iptables -L lagging on rows where the destination or source address is not localhost or anywhere. The following entries will cause lag on their row: iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 111 -s 192.168.1.14 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 90 -d 192.168.1.14 -j ACCEPT while this does not: iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport localhost -s 192.168.1.14 -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport localhost -d 192.168.1.14 -j ACCEPT I feel like this might be due to iptables checking to see if the ip is reachable. If not, what is the cause, if it is how can I disable it?

  • Boot splash broken by "SP5100 TCO timer: mmio address 0xyyyyyyy already in use"

    I have ubuntu 11.04 with all the latest updates. I have an ATI HD 4350 graphics card and the "ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver" activated. The reported behaviour does not affect the functionality, its just an optical thing. When I booted up using the desktop CD, the ubuntu boot splash was shown correctly in high resolution.     I have a network with the following: Cable modem with static IP address Router Desktop - Win 7 VM Host - VMware ESXi 4.0 A couple of VM Guests - Windows Every now and then my Win 7 PC is unable to access some of the VMs. When I ping the VMs by their domain name their IP address shows up as the IP address of the cable modem. Sometimes I can fix it by running ipconfig /flushdns. The IP address will reset back to what it was supposed to be, but occasionally it wont work. Why does this happen and how can I fix it?

    When resolving FQDNs or machine names to IP addresses on my local network (mycompany.internal) I can use dig on the command line (linux/mac) or nslookup (windows) to query the configured server and get a response. But trying to enter the FQDN or even just the machine name in a ping command or in a web browser results in 'Unknown Host' or DNS errors. The DNS server is a SBS 2003 box which handles AD, some file/print, etc for a small company network. This issue happens to me about three times a week, and when I'm connected to the local network directly, the same switch as the server even. I can make any connection I want with IP addresses, I just can't make DNS work. Additionally, at the same time I'm experiencing this, other users are fine, which makes me think it's a problem on my Mac. But what sort of problem? How can dig send a query and get a reply, and ping say 'unknown host'? I'm posting here vs. serverfault because I think this is a local problem not a server problem...but if anyone can point me at the server, I guess we'll head down the street a domain or two.

    Good time of day, SF people. I have created a manual DHCP binding entry on a Cisco router so that a client would always get leased to it. The clients wants to get the same address on both of his dual-boot linux systems. He tries to get an IP address leased and he succeeds on one of the dual-boot operating systems. When he reboots to another one he gets a lease for a completely different one. I don't get it. The MAC addresses are the same (we checked in ifconfig, so what could be happening here? Why is the router confused? Or is it something else? Also, how can I check DHCP server IP address who I have got an IP address from (on Linux)? Configuration on Cisco: ip dhcp pool MANUAL_BINDING0001 host 192.168.0.64 255.255.255.0 hardware-address dead.beef.1337 dns-server 192.168.8.11 default-router 192.168.0.254 domain-name verynicedomainigothere.cn PS.   • Pluscom MAC address shows up but "wireless unavailable"

    I've got a pluscom pci card plugged into my desktop and although the mac address shows up in network manager, it says "Wireless unavailable".   • Install tmux on Mac OS X

    This is a short run down on how to get tmux running on your Mac OS X system. The same methodology applies when compiling this on Solaris. What is tmux? According to the developer's page, "tmux is a terminal multiplexer: it enables a number of terminals (or windows), each running a separate program, to be created, accessed, and controlled from a single screen. tmux may be detached from a screen and continue running in the background, then later reattached". Why not just use screen? For me, the primary reason I switched to tmux from screen is the much easier configuration syntax that tmux offers. If you've ever struggled with formatting screen's caption or hardstatus line, then you will appreciate the ease with which you can achieve the same results in tmux. Preparing your environment You will need a C compiler installed. I believe that OS X ships by default with GNU make, but if not, then you will need to obtain it or use Xcode.   • Mac Quick Look Preview in an NSView or NSImage?

    I am looking for a way (public or otherwise) to get an NSView, NSImage, CGImageRef, etc that shows the QuickLook preview for a file. Essentially the equivalent of QLThumbnailImageCreate() but for the preview. The public APIs I can find do not support this. They allow the creation of a thumbnail image or a QLPreviewPanel. The panel does in fact display the quick look preview, but I cannot get access to the preview's appearance to embed it in other views, nor can I display multiple previews at once. For background, I am writing an app where users can embed links to other files that should be displayed inline, kind of like an <img> tag in HTML. For images like JPGs and PDFs it's easy to figure out what to display. I thought that for other formats I would use Quick Look to generate a nice visual representation of the file's contents. This way the set of formats supported by my application would be easily extensible (just download new Quick Look generators).

    Yes, I hate Objective-c, plus my project will be portable, so I'd like to code as much of it in C++ as possible, ideally 100%. So I have a regular C++ project made with Xcode, and want to open some OpenGL windows. edit: Damn, Glut takes over the app's control with glutMainLoop(), pretty much as SDL does, I'm trying to break free from that schemes. Will try freeglut, although I can't find OSX binaries, and I always have such bad luck trying to compile someone else's code.

I have the parent message that has something like Message-ID: <[email protected]/> then some replies that have (in addition to their own Message-ID) In-Reply-To: <[email protected]/> However, these show up as two conversations! The first conversation consists solely of the parent message, and the second conversation consists of the other replies. Would adding a References: header (as described in RFC 2822) resolve this?
