  • Apache outputs all urls of a second domain as a subfolder of the primary domain name

    Hi all, would anyone be able to possibly give me some guidance.. Basically, i have a 'shared hosting' account with a large internet hosting provider, and my account lets me have multiple seperate domains within this folder structure.(note: not aliased domains and not sub domains). so, my goal is to have 2 domains set up. i have already purchased the two domain names i need: The first domain is the 'primary' domain name for the root folder(eg. www.example1.com) and the second domain name is set for one of its sub folders(eg. www.example2.com is set to the folder www.example1.com/sites/music). The problem is that when apache returns a page of the second domain back to the browser, apache writes the hyperlinks as if it's a sub folder of the first domain ( eg. www.example2.com/index.html. comes out as http://www.example1.com/sites/music/index.html). Now, I have done some reading on this, looking though "Apache: the definitive guide"(o'reilly), and although it was useful, couldn't really find the answer. i'm guessing this issue is most likely an apache setup issue in http.conf, rather than an issue with the hosting company itself (which is why im posting it here) and I have also been to the official documentation for apache site, and i am guessing i might need to use something like the rewritebase directive in htaccess files.. but im really not sure, im more of a java programmer guy, and have been struggling with this for a couple of days. Any guidance would be REALLY appreciated. If it helps, my hosting company is godaddy, and my sites are hosted on linux. My problem was originally with wordpress which i reinstalled a number of times in various ways to correct the problem, but ive just done a test with a very simple static html, and it still has the same issue with relative urls like this: <html> <head></head><body><a href="images/dog.html">Pictures of Dogs</a></body> </html> However, it is fine if i hardcode the urls like this: <html> <head></head><body><a href="http://www.example2.com/images/dog.html">Pictures of Dogs</a></body> </html> Thanks heaps, Steve R NOW FIXED Ok, the problem has now been fixed, and i didn't need to modify any .conf or .htaccess files. The problem was, that when I went to install the second application into a second domain from the godaddy site, one of the setup questions is that it asks you which site you want it installed to. after that it asks for the desired folder path. However, the problem was that the second domain name was already pointing to the correct subfolder of the primary domain. So when I started installing wordpress again and came to the menu to select which site it was for, and it listed only the primary domain as an option, i assumed that this was like a label of "which hosting account?", or "which primary domain will your application will be installed under?" because I already knew that in the next step i was specifiying the folder. In order to correct this, you must make sure that your second domain is added to your domain list so that it will be listed as an option during the installation process. I've looked around the web and most softwares I found were from unknown companies, had crappy websites, and made me feel like their either wanted me to install a virus on my computer, or to scam me. Most also seemed to have planted "reviews" online most likely written by themselves. Basically, anyone has experience with a trustworthy company to accomplish that? Thanks

  • Quickly revert an Oracle Database to a known state

    I would like to use Selenium to test a web application but in order to do that successfully the tests must be run against a database at a known state. The recording and running of the Selenium tests is not within the scope of this website so I'm only looking for recommendations on how best to revert the database after each test execution. Some details: current database size is 30GB however only about 4GB needs to be reverted database is Oracle 11g Standard Edition running on Windows Server 2003 the data in 6 different schemas needs to be reverted Ideally the process should be scripted so that it can be re-executed frequently and automatically via a scheduled task.

    I am searching for a way to type a keyword in the start menu Search programs and files field and that it will return the application that match the keyword. An example will better explain this: Suppose that I want to start the powershell. Currently what I can type in the search field is power and the first item that appear is the 64bits powershell shortcut. Now suppose that I'd like ps to return powershell as the first item of the search list. Currently, typing ps return all files with the .ps extension, alongs with a control panel options about recording steps but not the powershell executable itself. How can I do that?

  • IIS Server on XP Machine with tweaked registry and services

    I have been trying for some time now to setup a webapp on my XP machine at home. Prior to doing this, I had tweaked the registry settings, fiddled with disabling and enabling servies, without recording what I tweaked, which I imagining could be what's causing the problem. I don't want to "reboot" to factory settings, although I suppose that would be nice to know how to do as well. I am more interested in finding out what settings could have influenced the behavior, and who I could contact / what information I could send them that would aid in solving the problem. Thanks.

    Our company uses pic database and wIntegrate 4.02 to interface with. How would I go about automating the .wis files for importing and exporting through wIntegrate? Is there some type of macro, software solution or built in routine I can use? At the moment I manually login to pic using wIntegrate and goto run - querybuilder and select the desired .wis script for importing and exporting data and select ok to run. This is not a solution, it needs to be automated. Anyone? Is there some type of point a click freeware recording software? I hate to do a hack job like that but I'm running out of ideas and no one seems to have worked with this software before...

    Update I've gotten plenty of feedback on the software solutions and the unanimous solution for having a handheld device to record video seems to be to use a mobile phone (I was hoping there'd be some webcam-like device with wifi support...) I'd appreciate more hardware suggestions now. That is, what mobile phones have good video recording quality (and battery time)? I'm looking for a solution to broadcast video live on the internet from a location (an apartment), with a device that can be carried around. What options are there? I'm looking for complete solutions (i.e., what hardware to use, what software to use, how it should all be set up.) Currently, I have my mobile phone (Nokia N95 8GB) with Qik installed connected to wifi, but unfortunately the videos get bad quality (especially since it's indoors with poor lighting) plus the battery gets used up quickly.

  • Ubuntu - why would /var/log/dmesg stop updating after boot? does not show panic/cpu_hung errors which the console shows

    So I have an Ubuntu 10.04 install VM on a host. Latest 2.6.38-15-server kernel . /var/log/dmesg displays only the bootup but will stop recording after that. It will not show the trace/cpu_hung errors I am trying to troubleshoot. /var/log/dmesg.0 , dmesg.1 nothing - I did a string search for the text that displays on the console during the crash and NOTHING gets logged anywhere in /var/log/* . I have to call into the provider and ask them to take a screenshot of the console since nothing shows in dmesg. Why would /var/log/dmesg not record kernel panics, or such?

  • fedora 11 server won't boot from SATA disk, won't boot from CD, BIOS configuration problems

    Hi all, Yesterday our fc11 file/print server didn't boot, and had stopped on the BIOS page with a configuration problem. (with a distinct lack of foresight) I reset the BIOS settings to default without recording the message and booted the server. The server ran until it was to be booted this morning, and it was failing to mount the root partition from the SATA disk. It also failed to boot from a known good diagnostics CD. After a few more tries, it now fails part way through the Phoenix - AwardBIOS screen where it is listing the SATA/IDE devices, and it is showing garbage for the identity of one of the disks, which should actually be "none" It looks like the motherboard has gone kaput. The motherboard is an EVGA NF790i, are there any diagnostic tools that I can use to determine this? (as I would prefer to not send the motherboard back, only to discover that it is the RAM or the CPU) ps I can't get it to boot from the memTest disk, so I can't run that diagnostic. Thanks!

  • Have SkyDrive not sync some subfolders of "SkyDrive"

    I am working with SkyDrive for a while now and it is GREAT! The only downside is that I am syncing my laptop and my desktop and that they don't have the same files. Example: For recording, I have Cubase installed on my laptop. This programme creates a folder "Cubase LE" in "My Documents". "My Documents" is being sync'd. This means, that on my desktop a folder will appear, named "Cubase LE". But it is not needed there at all! So what I'm looking for is an option to disable some folders from being sync'd. Can this be done? Like, right-clicking on a folder and selecting an option "Don't sync with SkyDrive". Thanks.

  • USB microphone very quiet in Windows 7 64bit [migrated]

    My microphone input is very quiet. I record my voice and the recording comes out very faint. I can barely see the level indicator move when I'm 4 inches away, only when I'm 0.5 inches away does it pick up well enough.     While configuring a new test plan in Atlassian bamboo, I get the following exception in the log: Recording error: Unable to detect changes : <projectname> Caused by: org.tmatesoft.svn.core.SVNException: svn: Unrecognized SSL message, plaintext connection? svn: OPTIONS request failed on <repo-path> I tried to access the svn repository by hand and it worked (URL looks like this: https://myrepo.org/path/to/repo). The svn sits behind an apache http server. Both the bamboo server and the svn server are running Debian 4.0. Has anybody seen this error before and can give me a hint how to fix it?

  • What's the most efficient method for moving and transcoding HD video from my Tivo to iTunes on OS X

    I've got a Tivo with some HD recordings on it. I'd like to move those files over to my Mac and add them into iTunes. I'd like the move and transcoding to be as painless as possible, and I'd like to preserve the quality of the original HD recording. I've got a network connection to the Tivo and can move the files over but the real problem seems to be transcoding. I tried using MEncoder to transcode to H.264 but the quality really suffered. I was doing the conversion at 10mbps so I'm not sure why the quality was so bad, lots of artifacting, etc.

Recently we've come ot a point where we have 100+ Devices (Routers, Bridges, Computers, Laptops, VOIP Phones etc). The other day I was quite frightened when I asked for an inventory and no one had one. I want to start tagging all equipment and recording serials to begin tracking our inventory and ensuring we have a proper record of what equipment we have.   • how to lower CPU usage for Ableton Live 8 in Mac OSX 10.6.8

    While running Ableton Live 8 after a project gets to a certain size, the audio starts to get a bit choppy and distorted. My levels are fine and is not the cause of the lag and chop. I have samples set to 1024 and the high quality button selected which I need to hear the sound. I always lower these when I'm recording audio with my mic but I need to have these turned up to be able to mix master the song. Anything I can do to lower the CPU usage? It sucks because I can't even use my iZotope Ozone plug-ins because of their CPU usage and they are AMAZING plug-ins that I would love to use.

    If I go to Sound Recording Devices and it says "No audio devices are installed" If I click to set up a microphone I get an error "Wizard could not launch, No audio input device found, make sure your audio hardware is working properly and check your audio configuration in the Audio Devices and Sound Themes control panel. Where can I get an audio input device? I just want something so I can actually use the microphone on my headset. This is ridiculous. I have tried to look for any file but I simply cannot find a way to add an audio input device... I really do not want to format my computer just for this problem but I am starting to feel like that is the only option I have. I have the latest chipsets

  • Tips on Managing Podcast Subscriptions

    I listen to a silly number of technical podcasts. I listen to enough of them that it is literally impossible to keep up. I nearly gave up and started dropping feeds from my subscription list when I heard Craig Shoemaker talk about his Polymorphic Podcast fast feed. The idea is he provides the same content at a higher speed so you can listen to his complete show in 3/4th the time. I tried it out with his recent jQuery Secrets with Dave Ward interview and I was shocked with the feed quality. It was a super clear, understandable conversation which only took a fraction of the time commitment. I experimented a bit and played the normal recording at 2x speed on my iPhone and the quality was once again just fine. But now I'm saving half of the time. I'm curious as to how you might manage your podcast subscriptions. Can you offer any tips or advice on how to get the best bang for your buck when it comes to technical podcast listening?
