  I have created an organizational chart using ASP.NET on web page. The web page is using strict DOCTYPE and following W3C standards. The chart has a hierarchical layout decided by the manager field in the table that contains employees in the organization. The chart layout has nodes with employee image and other details like job title, department and contact details. Nodes are beautifully arranged and connected by lines (only horizontal or vertical or both). A lot of DIV elements are used (to avoid table) for connecting lines and arranging the chart properly. As suggested by my friend, using DIVs for connecting lines in the chart is semantically wrong. Is there a way by which I can make it semantically correct? Or, am I using HTML for the wrong purpose?

• Colgroup in ffox/chrome

  I am testing the <colgroup> tag on a 5 columns table, with a style attribute. I can't seem to make it work on firefox 3.6/chrome 5 tho, and this is when I started searching for the reference on w3c. It seemed like my code was perfectly fine, but looking at the w3c editor I noticed not even that was working. Only IE8 seems to work correctly, opera 10.51 ignores the style tag but applies the align tag correctly, while ffox and chrome seems to ignore colgroup completely. So what am I (and w3c) doing wrong? Was colgroup deprecated and I missed it?

• Adding scrollbars to UserControl

  I am trying to add vertical and horizontal scrollbars to my UserControl with the HorizontalScroll and VerticalScroll properties, but I am having extreme issues. My problem arises when I drag or manipulate the scroll box on the bar. When I let it go, it simply jumps back to the start position! I know of the AutoScroll property, but I do not want to use it since I want to be able to control every aspect of my scrollbars, and I don't want it to be done automatically. Also, according to the documentation, AutoScroll is for "[enabling] the user to scroll to any controls placed outside of its visible boundaries" which isn't what I want. I just want scrollbars. ...aaand I suppose I could add VScrollBar and HScrollBar to the control, but why should I do this when the scroll functionality already exists? Seems like a waste to me.

  I have a CEdit control that's used to display a diagnostics output. Sometimes the data overflows the screen size, so naturally I set the Vertical Scroll property to true (MFC dialog editor). But then, when I tried to scroll the text that was in the window before isn't cleared and the new text is written over it. The result is a big mess of everything I have scrolled past. I've looked for a draw background property or something similar that will erase everything in the window while scrolling (before redrawing the new data). Any suggestions?

I am happy with the 3rd one, just want to make it horizontal and change its position bit. Could somebody tell me why the second menu is not click-able? how I can make the third menu vertical? I thought that display: block; for li of the 3rd menu would do the trick but I do not know the css path for that li.

The screen would be laid out to have an image on the left, a title on the top right, and text below the title. I have a few problems with this, 1) How would I create the popup box? (preferably with rounded edges) 2) How would I wrap the text (in front of the picture, but not outside the popup-box, I may even need vertical scroll bars) 3) How would I account for different screen resolutions (would they even make a difference?)   I am using bitmapData and bitmap classes to render a mouse cursor on the display screen. The bitmapData consists of an area whose colors should be inverted according to the background color. This is a very basic thing which could be observed with text cursor(the vertical line with two small horizontals on top and bottom), when moved over the text area. I want to be able to do the same with the pixels in my bitmapData, is there a way to find out the background color effectively and invert the color values? In this process i will be redrawing the whole pixels, is there any other efficient way to do that ?

  Hello everyone: This is a CSS related question, I got one good answer from my previous question, which suggested to use some CSS code like overflow:auto together with a fixed height container. And here is my actual implementation : on uni server Please follow the instructions on screen and buy more than 4 kinds of tickets. If you are using IE8, Opera, Safari, Chrome, you would notice that the lower right corner of the page now has a vertical scroll bar, which scrolls the content inside it and prevent it from overflowing. That's what I want to have in this section. Now the problem is, this would not do in FireFox 3.6.2. Am I doing something not compliant to the CSS standard or FireFox has its own way of overflow control? You can inspect the elements on screen, and all controlling functions are done in one javascript using jQuery. All CSS code are kept in a separated file as well. According to the professor, FireFox would be the target browser, although the version was set to 2.0...

• Listview selects mutliple items when clicked

  I'm trying to make a task manager, and I only have one problem. I have a listview that gets inflated. All the elements in the listview are correct. The problem is that when I select an item, the listview will select another item away. I've heard listviews repopulate the list as it scrolls down to save memory. I think this may be some sort of problem. Here is a picture of the problem. If i had more apps loaded, then it would continue to select multiple at once.   I have a circle around a given point, call this point (x1, y1). I know the radius of the circle around this point. I also have a second point (x2, y2), that is a distance away, outside the radius of the circle. I need a algebraic way through code to calculate the heading (angle from vertical) needed to intersect the circle at 90* to the center point (I.E. get the angle of the tangent intersecting line 2) around the point (x1, y1) from the second point (x2, y2) A bit of background: Essentially the two points are GPS coordinates on a 2D map, I need to know the target heading to intersect the circle in order to follow its path around the center point. • Firefox adds <br> when paste from Word in TinyMCE

  I'm currently using TinyMCE 3.3 on a drupal site, with an annoying problem. Using both "paste from word"-button or "Force cleanup on paste" in Firefox cause TinyMCE to insert line-breaks in my paragraphs where the line would have ended in Word. In IE, I do not have this problem. When viewing the source code in the editor, it doesn't show a -tag, but an actual line-break. When viewing the normal text in the editor, I see no linebreak at all, but on saving, it's really there when viewing the page. Even in the beginning of every first line of every paragraph it insert a linebreak. How do I solve this?? "Remove linebreaks" isn't an option, since people want to insert linebreaks to create some vertical spacing.
