  • What port is my SQL2008 instance running on?

    Check out this pic of my SQL 2008 Management Configuration screen for TCP: I need to know what port I am running on. Base on this previous post, I don't believe that it is 1433, which I guess is the default. When I check my port number in SQL Config Mgr., it is blank. Does this suggest a default port? Note that I have multiple SQL Server instance on the db server. 1 2000 instance and two 2008 instances. I want to know the port of the 2008b instance. Can you help?

  • Srvany Starts but Application doesn't

    I used Instsrv and Srvany as to create a service on W2008; the Srvany service starts okay but the application does not start. The application is TeamSpeak 3 btw. I don't think it's an issue with my W2008 setup as I have a previous version of the application set up the exact same way and running perfectly. Also, I have no problem manually starting the application even when I copy and paste into the 'Run' box the path used for the application by Srvany. I looked at Events but nothing there except notification that the service has entered the running state, didn't really expect any errors as the service has started even though the application hasn't. Any suggestions on what could be the problem?

  • ASP.NET impersonations?

    Hi! I have a aspx file that suppose to write to a file in the server while loading. On the local machine it works fine, but when i deploy it to a live server it gives me an exception "Access to the path 'd:\DZHosts\LocalUser\asafz83\www.asafz83.somee.com\lala.htm' is denied." WHen i asked my serverAdmin for the reason - he told me to remove any impersonation from my web.config file. Well, my web.config file doesn't contain any impersonation, so i'm really confused: What can i do in order for this sealy-stupid application to work? thanks!

  • Why does my company's software download get blocked by anti-virus programs when downloading from the company website but not other websites?

    My company distributes software via website download off of a URL that is on our company's website. The download is an .EXE. We are getting calls from multiple customers saying the download is being blocked. We can help them download by turning off the virus-scan software, but wondering what is causing the block. Here are the details: We have other downloadable .EXEs that download fine without being blocked from the same company website. Our problem download file downloads fine from other websites (i.e., Dropbox) without being blocked. In summary, this one particular download from our company website is being blocked by various anti-virus programs a high percentage of the time. Any suggestions?

  • SQL CLR and nullable datetime parameter

    I'm trying to write a SQLCLR function that takes a DateTime2 as input and returns another DateTime2. Based on this post I altered the parameter to be the C# type DateTime giving me the level of precision I require.   • Windows 8 using as a webserver

    I have a few hobby websites that I currently host on CentOS 6. Apache, mail serving, PHP, MySQL nothing special. In the past I used Windows XP to do this same task, for years, and I was OK. I switched to Linux and for the last few years it has been such a pain. updates break, certain apps only support certain distros without compiling from source. It prevents me from working on my hobby sites more because I am always fixing something. With Windows I locked it down, I run a hardware firewall and packet analyser, kept up on updates and A/V and never had a problem. I dont allow RDC from outside the local LAN, no FTP open, run OpenSSH on an obscure port.. I am considering switching to Windows 8 (since it is a cheaper license now that Windows 7) and running apache, HMailServer, PHP, MySQL, just like my CentOS install. My questions: I am not familiar with Windows 8, can the above be done like XP? No new security restrictions or the OS preventing this from happening? The machine is a Athlon 64-bit X2 with 32GB of RAM. Will Windows 8 see all of the RAM? Technically the machine came with Windows 7, and there is a serial number on it but I am sure I wiped away the Windows 7 recovery partition when I switched to Linux....

The following works for one folder each, but not sure how to adapt to work for all folders.     i have windows 2003 server domain environment in my office. my server ip is: 192.168.1.2 if i put this IP in DNS of my laptop network card my folder SYNC works fine & also internet work fine in office. but internet did't work in my home for that i need to change DNS again to Auto & internet start working again. its too difficult to change cause some time i don't have administrative password. is there any solution to that?   • ACL mess after rsync on Windows 2008

    The permissions in the ACL are not in the right order on some files and directories after having used rsync to synchronize directory trees. The stuff works well as it is on Windows 2003. Can someone explain this in detail. What exactly changed regarding ACLs from Windows 2003 to 2008? We fixed the rights with icalcs afterwards. But this thing seems a bit weird. Maybe 2008 has some restrictions or more checks 2003 did not have.

  • PHP doesn't show any kind of errors

    Hello everybody I have a PHP server at home for development. It is running: Ubuntu 9.10 Apache 2.2.12 PHP 5.3.2-0.dotdeb.1 MySql 5.0.7-dev Currently the settings in the php.ini for displayiong errors are: display_errors = on error_reporting = E_ALL But I do not see any errors in my php script. Also very strange is that phpinfo() shows me this: display_errors Off I checked the php.ini file, and restarted the apache server many times, but with no luck. Does anybody knows how this is possible? edit: When I localy set this: ini_set('display_errors', 'on'); I do receive errors.

    Hello., Whenever i need to copy some files and couldnt find a pen drive, [ i dont have bluetooth enabled in my lap], I create a new ad hoc (wireless) network in windows and share the necessary files on the network and share files with the other system. Now, i want to do the same with Ubuntu. But, i couldn't. I could create a new network, but i am not able to chare or send or even dont know how to access the system connected to the network. Most of the time it works OK and the restart count is anything up to 4. In this case the Trunk log confirms that the Restart Count is 5 and so is considered to be exceeded. Presumably, this triggers the termination of the other services and Trunk is actually doing its job.So, coould this just be a timing issue and we need to increase the tolerance level (i.e restart count) or do we need to address the 0xa08990002 error in vmd?

  • Can vCenter 4 authenticate and authorize against a virtual directory server??

    Hi I am looking into Identity managment in our environment. We currently use Active Directory and Sun's Enterprise Directory server (6.3). I was wondering if I used the Virtual Directory Server of the Enterprise Directory server, would we be able to point the vCenter clients to this Directory service for authentication and authorization rather than at the AD source. The reason for this is that we have more users we want to add to the management role of this server but not all are in AD, a fair number are in the Sun LDAP v3. directory. Thanks in advance Ian

    We are going to create History Mechanism for our changes in DB (DART in pic) via Triggers. we have 600 tables. Each record that will be changed - the trigger will insert the deleted one into XXX. regarding to the XXX : option 1 : clone each table in "Dart" DB and each table now will have a "sister table" e.g. : Table1 will have Table1_History problems : we will have 1200 tables programmer can do mistakes by working on wrong tables... option 2 : make a new DB (DART_2005 in pic) and the history tables will be there option 3 : use linked server which stores the Db which will contain the history tables. question : 1) which option gives the best performance ( I guess 3 is not - but is it 1 or 2 or same ?) 2) Does option 2 is acting like "linked server" ( in queries we will need to select from both DB's...) 3) What is the best practice approach ?
