  Note: I'm posting this here on Superuser as I think the issue is more related to the Windows Installer than the game itself. My friend is having trouble installing Company of Heroes and CoH: Opposing fronts under Windows 7. A couple of percent into the installation, when the C/C++ runtime is being installed, the install fails with the following message: An error occured while installing the Windows Installer package "C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\Temp\...\...\vcredist.msi". Error code 10212:00000659: MsiInstallProductW returned 00000659: This installation is forbidden by system policy. Contact your system administrator. We have tried: Making sure that any previous installations have been completely removed, including searching and deleting any files/folders/registry entries matching "THQ" (the publisher) and "Relic" (the developer). Installing into a brand new user account Running Setup.exe as administrator Running Compatibility check for Setup.exe, which suggested Windows XP but failed when trying those settings out Does anyone know what might be the cause of the system policy error?

  I'm working on a corporate desktop (still) running Windows XP SP2. I recently received a new PC and am reinstalling all my tools. Something is different about this one in that it won't let me install Powershell 2.0. When I do, I get a popup: You do not have permission to update Windows XP. Please contact your system administrator. This also occurs for other installs, like Service Pack 3 and Windows Installer 4.5. I'm aware this PC is under group policy restrictions, but I haven't narrowed down what restriction is preventing this install so that I can have the appropriate support team resolve it. What setting could be responsible for this?

  I currently have Windows 8 32-bit installed from MSDN (I didn't realise at the time that my processor supports 64-bit). I understand that you can't upgrade within Windows 32-bit to 64-bit directly from the ISO. I have burned the ISO to a DVD, and have attempted booting from this drive. The problem I am encountering: The operating system couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors. File: CI.dll Error code: 0xc0000221 You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer.   Hi all, I have a friend with a Toshiba Satellite A200. He's running Vista HP SP2 32-bit. For some reason, when he attempts to uninstall Open Office or some other programs, a dialog box appears, which states, "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation." After I click OK, another dialog box entitled "Installed Updates" says that "You do not have sufficient access to uninstall _. Please contact your system administrator." Any ideas?   Hope I have not duplicated an issue already posted but I could not find anything from the search... Right here is the problem, we have recently updated all our desktops to the MS Office 2007 suite and people have issues trying to open simple files like word documents... the systems are Windows XP (SP3) Novell Network with novell client Office 2007 when they try to open a word document from a usual network share word presents a message reporting Access Denied Contact Administrator So we assumed network permissions, none of which have changed...so try the same file with Wordpad and it opens fine, be it with formating issues of course... Now copy the file to your desktop, which is not redirected, and you can open the file in word as normal... so does anyone know if office 2007 uses some new permission when opening files? does it create temps or something... any pointers would be appreciated

• Can not RDP to Win 2003 box or initiate remote restart

  I've got a Windows 2003 server that's at my remote data center. This morning I tried to connect to it via RDP, but the connection fails with the following error: This computer can't connect to the remote computer. Try connecting again. If the problem continues, contact the owner of the remote computer or your network administrator. I have also trying issuing a remote shutdown/restart command using the "shutdown -i" command from my local system. No error is reported, however the system does not reboot. This server runs SQL Server 2005 and it is still fully operational and responsive to queries. I can also remotely connect to the services control panel of the remote system. Is there anything that I can try to regain control of the system, short of having an operator in the data center do a hard reboot on the server for me?

  I was using my cable internet on windows and it was working. Now I moved to ubuntu for development work. But I am unable to connect this internet on ubuntu. I called their technical support and they ask me to install PTPPN (I have forgot the exact name) and then provide our server name, your username and passowrd. I download that software PTPPN(whatever) by using a debian file but I did not find it after installation. I tried to contact to technical support again but unable to connect. Can someone please tell the exact name of that software and how to install and then connect to internet on ubuntu? I have only the following information for now: Install "PTPN" on ubuntu. • Exchange mail users cannot send to certain lists

  First of all, everyone's on Exchange 2010 using OWA I have a dynamic distribution list that contains all users in my domain called 'staff'. I can send to this list, other people can send to this list, but I have one user that cannot send to this list. Sending to this list gives the user an email back with the error: Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups: Staff The e-mail address you entered couldn't be found. Please check the recipient's e-mail address and try to resend the message. If the problem continues, please contact your helpdesk. and then a bunch of diagnostic information that I don't want to paste here because I don't want to have to censor all of the sensitive information contained (lazy) Can you guys throw me some possible reasons why this would happen? If there are an innumerable number of reasons, where should I start to troubleshoot this? EDIT One Exchange server inside the network that acts as a transport server, client access server and mailbox server and one Edge Transport server in the DMZ.

  I installed xampp back around January 2009, and CF8 to test coldfusion on my macbook (note: I do not think that this issue is related to CF, but only xampp). I only ever used the apache part of xampp, and this was working for over a year. In the last couple of months at the most I've started getting the following error message (even for none CF sites, and non .cfm pages, the error occurs for .html files..): Access forbidden!   We have a little Exchange/Outlook installation here that fetches the mails from our provider with POP3. Now to be able to send emails outside our organisation, I added another SMTP address to the Exchange User: [email protected] (Default / Reply Address) [email protected] Sending email works using the default address. But now there is an error message each time we start Outlook. Outlook tries to autodiscover using autodiscover.ourcompany.com which doesn't exist. Our autodiscover files are placed on our local server. I think all the servers are discovers, because everything works as expected. Everything except the error message on each Outlook start. (The error message is actually because of an invalid certificate but I don't see why Outlook should contact an external host at all!) So how can I solve this? Forcing Autodiscover on every Outlook client to use the local hosts? Or ist there an even better way?

Question What software meets the following criteria: Applies encrypted, invisible watermarks to a PDF Open Source Platform independent (Linux, Windows) Fast (marks a 200 page PDF in under 1 second) Batch processing (exclusively command-line driven) Collusion-attack resistant Non-fragile (e.g., PDF - EPS - PDF still contains the watermark) Well documented (shows example usages) Ideas & Resources Some thoughts and findings: Natural language processing (NLP) watermarks. Apply steganography on a randomly selected image. http://openstego.sourceforge.net/cmdline.html The problem with NLP is that grammatical errors can be introduced. The problem with steganography is that the images are sourced from an image cache, and so recreating that cache with watermarked images will impart a delay when generating the PDF (I could just delete one image from the cache, but that's not an elegant solution). • Under what circumstances can/will a 10BASE-T device slow down a 100BASE-T or faster network?

  Suppose I have a 10BASE-T device, but everything else on my network is 100BASE-T or faster. When I attach the 10Mbit device, one of two things could happen: It could be passed through as 10BASE-T, making whatever it's connected to slow down to 10BASE-T, or It could be converted to a higher speed. I'm looking for all the plausible examples where #1 could happen; where attaching this 10Mbit device will slow down other traffic. I sorta think it can't happen - that as soon as it comes into contact with other traffic it has to get retimed to be inserted into the higher rate traffic (so no slowdown aside from the extra bits from the connection), and that when it's not contacting other traffic, who cares if it's only 10Mbit? Basically I'd like a better understanding of any impact of inserting a slow device into a fast ethernet network.

  I have a VMWare image supplied by my Phone System provider which manages a contact management interface, they tell me that VMWare EsXi5.0 is the highest supported host. I'm used to MS HyperV and have no VMWare experiance. At present I have this guest running on a simple desktop PC running ESXi5.0.0, I'd idealy like to run this guest (it's Windows 7 with their software already installed and configured) on a Windows 2008R2 server I have available, as I said, I'm used to HyperV and I can't easily identify if there is a version of VMWare that supports ESXi5.0 guests that will run on a Windows 2008 R2 server host. Is there such a product, what's it called, and with one guest can I run it without purchasing a license? Thanks

Is it possible that my Roboform password divulge. !!! Edit 2 : I've changed my yahoo mail password, but this morning I received Failure Notice for sending mail to some invalid mail addresses again, but there is a different this time, the sent mails didn't exist in my Sent Box. Is it a good thing or I have to do something else ?

• OpenLDAP with StartTLS broken on Debian Lennny

  I'm trying to get OpenLDAP on Lenny to work with StartTLS. I have a Fedora 13 machine which I'm using as a client for testing. So far the Fedora client is ignoring the 'host' directive in /etc/ldap.conf when I try to connect using ldapsearch. The client wants to connect to 127.0.0.1:389 even if I specify -H ldaps://server.name on when using ldapsearch. /etc/ldap.conf on the client machine is in mode 444. But even when I try connecting locally from an ssh session, I see errors like this: ldap_sasl_interactive_bind_s: Can't contact LDAP server (-1) Someone hit me with a cluebat, plz. Update: you must use ~/.ldaprc for settings such as 'host'.

• Problems with mailenable when sending to yahoo

  I m testing sending emails from mailenable webmail. I have no problems sending mail to gmail or hotmail, both work fine, but yahoo mail shows the attachment icon for the message even though the message doesn't contain any attachments, it's just plain text. It only includes a reply to a previous message, like this: message text ----- Original Message ----- original message text I copied the message content and sent it from gmail to yahoo and the attachment icon didn't show which makes me believe it's something with mailenable. What could possibly be wrong? Also, is there a white list for yahoo mail that I can join? And also for other popular webmail? I'm going to use this on a production website (site visitors use the contact us form to send messages to the site - the mail enable server running on the same machine as the web server - then I check the messages using the mailenable webmail and reply them). • How are SQL Server CALs counted?

  Running a SQL Server, as far as I understand it, you need one CAL for every user who connects to the database server. But what happens if the only computer which is accessing the SQL Server is the server running your business layer? If, for example, you got 1 SQL Server and 1 Business logic server, and 100 Clients who all just query and use the business logic server. No client is using the SQL Server directly, no one is even allowed to contact it. So, since there is only one computer using the SQL server, do I need only 1 CAL??? I somehow can't believe this would count as only 1 CAL needed for the SQL Server, but I would like to know why not.

  I had problems with web virus cake 3.00 and I downloaded Malwarebytes Anti-WALWARE, I got rid of that virus but I did other problems. When I open my PC appears to skype error "exception in module Skype.exe at 0013CE7D.The EOleSysError RPC server is unavailable" and another one "Error in C: \ WINDOWS \ system32 \ Nvcpl.Dll Missing entry: NnStartup" when I install / uninstall a program says "Windows Installer service Could you not be accessed. This CAN occure if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not corectly installes. Contact your support personnel for assistance. I have tried many "solutions" but nothing worked. Please HELP! It windows xp sp 2
