• Cross-Browser jQuery text-zoom implementation

  I've got some code to increase/decrease font size. This is giving me a headache because each browser seems to implement the $.css('font-size') differently (see jquery bug). The part that's really killing me, though, is that Firefox is scaling up okay, but when I use the scale down function below, it scales up. Webkit & IE are both working as expected. Any ideas on that? I put this in a fiddle here: http://jsfiddle.net/srQ3P/1/ where you can see it working as expected, and you can see it broken in firefox at the project page: http://cumberlandme.info/residents MAJOR EDIT Sorry, the issue is not the code, it's firefox buggy behavior. After I zoom in or out with the browser controls (ctrl + plus or ctrol + minus) the js goes haywire. This doesn't happen in other browsers. This is the real issue. Any advice on that

• Where do current (not HTML5) browsers stand on clipboard support for non-text data?

  I don't really know where the line is between the browser itself and HTML/JS here. But let's say I want to write a web-app where I can copy a chunk of data from MSPaint (select, CTRL+c) and paste it into a web-page in some way... ultimately the point is the data goes to the server without me having to save it as a file first. Where are the problems here - browsers or client-side technologies? For instance if JS can't do it, could Flex/Silverlight? Advice on future technology welcome, but doesn't really answer the question - where are we right now with IE/FF/Chrome and JS/Flex/SL?

  I am looking for the equivalent of running "File - Save All" before certain Rake macros. What I have so far is: Private Sub Pre_Rake() Dim i As Integer DTE.Documents.SaveAll() For i = 1 To DTE.Solution.Projects.Count If Not DTE.Solution.Projects.Item(i).Saved Then DTE.Solution.Projects.Item(i).Save() End If Next End Sub DTE.Documents.SaveAll works fine, but the for loop does not save the project files as I would expect. If I make a copy of a file in the solution explorer, that file is not included in the project file (.CSPROJ) after Pre_Rake() runs. I would still have to press CTRL-SHIFT-S or File - Save All. So, how to Save All with a Visual Studio Macro?

• Accessing identical web services using the same client

  Hi. I have some web services and I am creating a web client using ws-import. When creating the client I have this line: MyServiceService service = new MyServiceService(); It works fine as it is. I have the same web services running on another server and I was wondering if I could access them using the same client. Is it possible to change the wsdl url of the client? Ctrl-Space in Eclipse gives me 2 parameters which I can enter into MyServiceService which are URL arg0 and Qname arg1. Is this what I'm looking for? And if this is the case what should I put in Qname since I didn't find any Javadoc associated and didn't find it on google neither Thanks and regards, Krt_Malta

• Best way to globally set every control's ValidationGroup property in an asp.net?

  I have a User Control with form items that is re-used considerably throughout a large web application, and up until this point the validation summary upon an invalid form submission is being handled by the .aspx that consumes the User Control. Now I need to set the ValidationGroup property at runtime for each of my form items controls (textboxes, lists, validators, etc). Rather than do it manually by setting each control I'm interested in iterating through all the controls in the User Control, detecting if that control has a ValidationGroup property, and setting it's value that way. Something like this: For Each ctrl As System.Web.UI.Control In Me.Controls ' so now what is the proper way to detect if this control has the ValidationGroup property Next Code sample in vb.net or c# works for me. • c++ builder TClientWinSocket simbol substitution

  I have the following problem. I have to send a text telegram over tcp/ip to a host device. Telegram should be terminated using 0x1A (CTRL-Z) character. But when I send it, host told me that there is a wrong symbol in the telegram. When I terminate a telegram with 32 (0x20) everything is ok. I look the transfered data using WireShark and I see that when I send 0x1A it is substituted with 0x16, when I send 32 (0x20) as a terminator it is somehow substituted with 0x1A. Can you explain it please. P.S. I am working on windows 7, using c++builder xe2. Thanks, Vladimir

• Vim: multi-file editing - having different makes in different splits

  I'm a recent vim convert (from fancy IDEs like eclipse.) I love the :make command in vim and use it extensively; however I also like to edit multiple projects (with separate makefiles.) So usually to edit more than one project I will do pushd project1 vim project1.cpp [suspend signal] pushd ../project2 vim project2.cpp and now I can switch between the two projects with ctrl+z i.e. suspend signal, and fg. When this becomes an issue is when I want to open one project in the context of another so I can do copy/pasting. So if instead in the above I do pushd project1 vim project1.cpp :vsp ../project2/project2.cpp I can edit both concurrently in the same vim process, however I can't effectively build one or the other with the :make command, it will only build project 1. Does anyone have some kind of scheme that gives them the best of both worlds: being able to edit concurrently while still being able to build multiple projects with the :make command all from the same vim process?

• node_load in drupal gets incorrect node when you are NOT logged in

  Hi All, i have a module and i am using node_load(array('nid' = arg(1))); now the problem is that this function keep getting its data for node_load from DB cache. how can i force this function to not use DB cache or static value? Example my link is http://mydomain.com/node/344983 now: $node=node_load(array('nid'=arg(1)),null,true); echo $node-nid; output: 435632 which is a randomly node id (available in the database) and everytime i ctrl+F5 my browser, i get new nid!! Note: if i am logged in, it gives the result correctly, but this problem happens only when i am browsing the website as an anonymous user i really appreciate any idea!! Thanks

• Extra < using auto complete in Sublime Text 2

  I installed the All Autocomplete package in my Sublime Text 2 editor and everything works fine except when I type "<div" or something similar, the auto-complete box pops up, I select the one I want and hit enter and it adds "<<div></div>" with an extra "<" in the front of my tag. I have to go back and delete the extra "<" every time...(!) I can't seem to resolve this issue. If I use the command CTRL+Space, the box pops up and I can select the tag I want and it does not include the extra tag but that messes with my flow. Has anyone out there experienced this? • Windows Azure local development environment speed

  I've started porting an existing ASP.NET web app to Windows Azure and have noticed that the development process is really slow. Each time I make a change to my code and want to view it, I have to effectively redeploy it to the local dev cloud (using Start debugging (F5) or Start without debugging (Ctrl-F5). The process itself takes over a minute, during which time Visual Studio is completely unresponsive. Am I doing something wrong or is that simply how things are developing for Azure? My specs: Visual Studio 2008 9.0.30729.1 SP 5 projects running on .NET 3.5 SP1 Azure SDK 1.1 (February 2010) Single instance of a single web role Dual-core AMD 64 machine with 8GB RAM, 64-bit Windows 7, fully patched The main project itself is quite large (3k files, ~200k lines) but compiles normally in 10-15 seconds

• Catching KeyboardInterrupt when working with PyGame

  I have written a small Python application where I use PyGame for displaying some simple graphics. I have a somewhat simple PyGame loop going in the base of my application, like so: stopEvent = Event() # Just imagine that this eventually sets the stopEvent # as soon as the program is finished with its task. disp = SortDisplay(algorithm, stopEvent) def update(): """ Update loop; updates the screen every few seconds. The trouble I'm having is, if I Ctrl-C in the Python console, the application throws a KeyboardInterrupt, but keeps on running. The question would therefore be: What have I done wrong in my update loop, and how do I rectify it so a KeyboardInterrupt causes the application to terminate?

Am I doing anything wrong here or is just freeglut just crippled? Is GLUT crippled in general?

• What is the representation of the mac command key in the terminal?

  Like control key is represented by a '^' in the terminal, what is the equivalent for the command key (mac)? I am trying to remap my bash shortcuts using stty For eg stty eof ^D But instead of control, I want to use the command key. EDIT: Okay so the issue I was trying to solve was that I wanted to interchange command and control keys because I work on osx and linux and the different key combinations cause me a lot of pain. So I interchanged the modifier keys using osx preferences. But now all the bash shortcuts like Ctrl+C etc had become equivalent of using the key sequences 'cmd+c' - which is not acceptable. Thankfully iTerm2, supports remapping of modifier keys as well, so for iterm2 I reversed them again which means iTerm2 recognizes command as command and control as control. So problem solved for now.

• Next/Last word with Netbeans in Mac OSX

  I've just switched to Mac OSX from Ubuntu. The development on Mac OSX using Netbeans is really a joy (of hell, though) I don't know how to go to next word, last word using keyboard. In windows or ubuntu, this should be Ctrl+Left/Right, but definely not in Mac. In Mac, such key combinations result in go to begin/end of line. Futhermore, the use of Home and End is for something else, not go to begin/end of line (What a cool hell). Is there another key combination? I prefer default key settings, please. I'm sick of going around with custom script.

How to print absolute line numbers in such error messages? EDIT: Maybe it's a dumb question, but answer will facilitate development a little. I'm printing text in several files. When done, press shortcut which runs python and copies contents of current file to console. Proposed solution forces to press excess keystrokes (Ctrl+S, Alt+Tab) and create additional files. I hope I have put it clear.

• OutputDebugString + DebugView = not tabs!

  I am dumping \t delimited data using using OutputDebugString and then use ex-Sysinternals DebugView to capture it. The problem is that all the data in DebugView appear to be space delimited, hence I need to perfrorm CTRL+H "\x20" "t" to replace spaces with the tabs before I can use it (I really need tab delimited data). Is there anyway to tell DebugView not to replace tabs with spaces? Or maybe there is a better tool available to capture output of the OutputDebugString function? Any ideas are very welcome!

  Hi All, We have some legacy software which depends on sending keystrokes to a DOS window and then scraping the screen. I am trying to re-create the software by redirecting the input and output streams of the process directly to my application. In my aspx page, I have a ListView, and in the ItemTemplate, I place my control reference, like so: <ctrl:ServiceTypeGroup runat="server" RequestTypeId="<%#RequestType.RequestTypeId%>" GroupId='<%#Eval("Id").ToString()%>' /> Setting the RequestTypeId works fine. Setting the GroupId fails with the following error: "Databinding methods such as Eval(), XPath(), and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control." What do I need to do to my user control code to allow binding a Eval() expression to one of its properties? Or is it not possible?

  I need to write some vbscripts in my new project. I was told by other people that vbscripting is easy, but seems to me, it is not. For example, in the following example (provided by microsoft), these functions: CreateObject, CreateShortcut, as well as these property names: TargetPath, WindowStyle, Hotkey, etc, are used, but I just cannot find the corresponding API documentation about how to use them. In other words, how do you know you need to call these functions in your vbscripts? Visual Studio 2008/2010 do not have templates for vbscript either.   Consider the following snippet: $(document).bind('mousemove', function(e) { $('#someDiv').css({left: e.pageX+'px', top: e.pageY+'px'}); }); This should make #someDiv follow the mouse (tooltip), when the css value for "position" is set to absolute. Works as expected, except when you Zoom IN or OUT in IE7 ( dind't try other version of IE). Then the e.pageX gets completely off. The more you zoom in (using your mousewheel + CTRL), the more off the positioning gets. I've tried to break jQuery's UI demos (sliders) and it seems not even jQuery guys have this figured out. Is there any genius out there who knows how to fix this nasty thing? Thanks in advance!

  I've got the following problem. In IE if a contenteditable element is nested inside a hyperlink, clicking on the element prevents the hyperlink default behavior, i.e. navigation to another document. In FF it works fine. How can I solve the problem? Just removing the contentEditable attribute is not a solution since I want this behavior (navigation to another document) only when user clicks the content-editable element with pressed Ctrl key. My C++ long function is repeatedly called inside a while loop from Cython code, but I want to be able, during the loop, to send an "interrupt" and block the while loop. The interrupt also should wait the longFunction() to finish, so that no data are lost or kept in unknown status.
