  • Nested Forms not passing belongs_to :id

    I have the following model class Project < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :assignments, :conditions => {:deleted_at => nil} has_many :members, :conditions => {:deleted_at => nil} accepts_nested_attributes_for :members, :allow_destroy => true end class Member < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :project belongs_to :person belongs_to :role has_many :assignments, :dependent => :destroy, :conditions => {:deleted_at => nil} accepts_nested_attributes_for :assignments, :allow_destroy => true validates_presence_of :role_id validates_presence_of :project_id end and I assume the controller will populate the member.project_id upon project.save for each nested member record. However, I get a validation error stating the project_id is blank. My controller method: def create # @project is created in before_filter if @project.save flash[:notice] = "Successfully created project." redirect_to @project else render :action => 'new' end end Do I need to manually set the project_id in each nested member record? Or what is necessary for the controller to populate when it creates the member records?

    I am upgrading a website written using ASP.NET 1.1 and the logic for the login page includes verifying the credentials, calling FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie() and populating the Session with the user information. I am updating this page to use Login controls and the Membership API and am trying to wrap my head around the concepts that have been changed. Most of the samples I see do not do anything on the login button event handler, so is the logic of setting the cookie abstracted out into the control? Also, how do I check if a user is logged in or not on other pages. Does it still store user information using the Session? How do I check if a user belongs to a particular role or not (Earlier, I would look in the Session object to do something like this) Is the Session a bad way of storing user info? Thanks

    parsec-3.1.0 ( http://hackage.haskell.org/package/parsec-3.1.0 ) works with any token type. However there are combinators like Text.Parsec.Char.satisfy that are only defined for Char datatype. There doesn't seem to be any more general counterpart available. Should I define my own versions or did I miss something? Perhaps there are different parser libraries in Haskell that allows: custom token types custom parser state (I need to parse stateful format - Wavefront OBJ)

  • Calling Save on a Configuration obj with a custom sectiongroup of type NameValueSectionHandler

    I've got aConfiguration object that I can easily read and write settings from and call Save(ConfigurationSaveMode.Minimal, true) on and that typically works just fine. However, I now have a config file that has a custom sectionGroup defined of type System.Configuration.NameValueSectionHandler (I didn't write that part and I can't change it). Now when I call the Save method, it throws a TypeLoadException Message: Type System.Configuration.NameValueSectionHandler does not inherit from System.Configuration.ConfigurationSectionGroup.   • Windows forms application blocks after station lock

    We're having a serious issue at work. We've discovered that after the station where the client was running is locked/unlocked the client is blocked. No repaint. So the UI thread is blocked with something. Looking at the callstack of the UI thread (thread 0) using windbg we see that a UserPreferenceChanged event gets raised. It is marshalled through a WindowsFormsSynchronizationContext using it's controlToSend field to the UI. It gets blocked by a call to the marshalling control. The method called is MarshaledInvoke it builds a ThreadMethodEntry entry = new ThreadMethodEntry(caller, method, args, synchronous, executionContext); This entry is supposed to do the magic. The call is a synchronous call and because of that (still in the MarshaledInvoke of the Control class) the wait call is reached: if (!entry.IsCompleted) { this.WaitForWaitHandle(entry.AsyncWaitHandle); } The last thing that i can see on the stack is the WaitOne called on the previously mentioned AsyncWaitHandle. This is very annoying because having just the callstack of the runtime and not one of our methods being invoked we cannot really point to a bug in our code. I might be wrong, but I'm guessing that the marshaling control is not "marshaling" to the ui thread. But another one...i don't really know which one because the other threads are being used by us and are blocked...maybe this is the issue. But none of the other threads are running a message loop. This is very annoying. We had some issues in the past with marshaling controls to the right ui thread. That is because the first form that is constructed is a splash form. Which is not the main form. We used to use the main form to marshal call to the ui thread. But from time to time some calls would go to a non ui thread and some grids would broke with a big red X on them. I fixed this by creating a specific class: public class WindowsFormsSynchronizer { private static readonly WindowsFormsSynchronizationContext = new WindowsFormsSynchronizationContext(); //Methods are following that would build the same interface of the synchronization context. } This class gets build as one of the first objects in the first form being constructed. We've noticed some other strange thing. Looking at the heap there are 7 WindowsFormsSynchronizationContext objects. 6 of these have the same instance of controlToSend, and the other one has some different instance of controlToSend. This last one is the one that should marshal the calls to the UI. I don't have any other idea...maybe some of you guys had this same issue?

  • What does this WCF error mean: "Custom tool warning: Cannot import wsdl:portType"

    I created a WCF service library project in my solution, and have service references to this. I use the services from a class library, so I have references from my WPF application project in addition to the class library. Services are set up straight forward - only changed to get async service functions. Everything was working fine - until I wanted to update my service references. It failed, so I eventually rolled back and retried, but it failed even then! So - updating the service references fails without doing any changes to it. Why?! The error I get is this one: Custom tool error: Failed to generate code for the service reference 'MyServiceReference'. Please check other error and warning messages for details. The warning gives more information: Custom tool warning: Cannot import wsdl:portType Detail: An exception was thrown while running a WSDL import extension: System.ServiceModel.Description.DataContractSerializerMessageContractImporter Error: List of referenced types contains more than one type with data contract name 'Patient' in namespace 'http://schemas.datacontract.org/2004/07/MyApp.Model'. Need to exclude all but one of the following types. Remember: I didn't even change anything! Now, the solution to this was found here, but without an explanation to what this means. So; in the "Configure service reference" for the service I uncheck the "Reuse types in the referenced assemblies" checkbox. Rebuilding now it all works fine without problems. But what did I really change? Will this make an impact on my application? And when should one uncheck this? I do want to reuse the types I've set up DataContract on, but no more. Will I still get access to those without this checked?

  • Custom NSView in NSMenuItem not receiving mouse events

    I have an NSMenu popping out of an NSStatusItem using popUpStatusItemMenu. These NSMenuItems show a bunch of different links, and each one is connected with setAction: to the openLink: method of a target. This arrangement has been working fine for a long time. The user chooses a link from the menu and the openLink: method then deals with it. Unfortunately, I recently decided to experiment with using NSMenuItem's setView: method to provide a nicer/slicker interface. Basically, I just stopped setting the title, created the NSMenuItem, and then used setView: to display a custom view. This works perfectly, the menu items look great and my custom view is displayed. However, when the user chooses a menu item and releases the mouse, the action no longer works (i.e., openLink: isn't called). If I just simply comment out the setView: call, then the actions work again (of course, the menu items are blank, but the action is executed properly). My first question, then, is why setting a view breaks the NSMenuItem's action. No problem, I thought, I'll fix it by detecting the mouseUp event in my custom view and calling my action method from there. I added this method to my custom view: - (void)mouseUp:(NSEvent *)theEvent { NSLog(@"in mouseUp"); } No dice! This method is never called. I can set tracking rects and receive mouseEntered: events, though. I put a few tests in my mouseEntered routine, as follows: if ([[self window] ignoresMouseEvents]) { NSLog(@"ignoring mouse events"); } else { NSLog(@"not ignoring mouse events"); } if ([[self window] canBecomeKeyWindow]) { dNSLog((@"canBecomeKeyWindow")); } else { NSLog(@"not canBecomeKeyWindow"); } if ([[self window] isKeyWindow]) { dNSLog((@"isKeyWindow")); } else { NSLog(@"not isKeyWindow"); } And got the following responses: not ignoring mouse events canBecomeKeyWindow not isKeyWindow Is this the problem? "not isKeyWindow"? Presumably this isn't good because Apple's docs say "If the user clicks a view that isn’t in the key window, by default the window is brought forward and made key, but the mouse event is not dispatched." But there must be a way do detect these events. HOW? Adding: [[self window] makeKeyWindow]; has no effect, despite the fact that canBecomeKeyWindow is YES.

  • UIButton: Need a circle hit area

    Ok I have 6 custom UIButtons. Their normal state image are all circles images. They are all spaced out equally but all the circles touch each other. The problem with the custom UIbutton (which has a circle image on it), is that the hit area of that button is square, and the corners of this square overlaps the hitarea of the other custom button's hitarea. How do i make the hit area of a UIbutton whos normal state has a circle image, be only clickable on that circle only, rather than the normal square hit area?!   • Convert JSON flattened for forms back to an object

    I am required (please therefore no nit-picking the requirement, I've already nit-picked it, and this is the req) to convert certain form fields that have "object nesting" embedded in the field names, back to the object(s) themselves. Below are some typical form field names: phones_0_patientPhoneTypeId phones_0_phone phones_1_patientPhoneTypeId phones_1_phone The form fields above were derived from an object such as the one toward the bottom (see "Data"), and that is the format of the object I need to reassemble. It can be assumed that any form field with a name that contains the underscore _ character needs to undergo this conversion. Also that the segment of the form field between underscores, if numeric, signifies a Javascript array, otherwise an object. I found it easy to devise a (somewhat naive) implementation for the "flattening" of the original object for use by the form, but am struggling going in the other direction; below the object/data below I'm pasting my current attempt. One problem (perhaps the only one?) with it is that it does not currently properly account for array indexes, but this might be tricky because the object will subsequently be encoded as JSON, which will not account for sparse arrays. So if "phones_1" exists, but "phones_0" does not, I would nevertheless like to ensure that a slot exists for phones[0] even if that value is null. Implementations that tweak what I have begun, or are entirely different, encouraged. If interested let me know if you'd like to see my code for the "flattening" part that is working.   • C# Win Forms Thread Pool - Unresponsive UI

    Scenario I have a Windows Form Application. Inside the main form there is a loop that iterates around 3000 times, Creating a new instance of a class on a new thread to perform some calculations. Baring in mind that this setup uses a Thread Pool, the UI does stay responsive when there are only around 100 iterations of this loop (100 Assets to process). But as soon as this number begins to increase heavily, the UI locks up into eggtimer mode and the thus the log that is writing out to the listbox on the form becomes unreadable. Question Am I right in thinking that the best way around this is to use a Background Worker? And is the UI locking up because even though I'm using lots of different threads (for speed), the UI itself is not on its own separate thread? Suggested Implementations greatly appreciated.
