• Why is Google still not indexing my !# website?

  I have been working on a website which uses #! (2minutecv.com), but even after 6 weeks of the site up and running and conforming to the Google hash bang guidelines stated here, you can still see that Google still hasn't indexed the site yet. For example if you use Google to search for 2MinuteCV.com benefits it does not find this page which is referenced from the homepage. Can anyone tell me why Google isn't indexing this website? Update: Thanks for al lthe help with this answer. So just to make sure I understand what is wrong. According to the answers Google never actually indexes the pages after the Javascript has run. I need to create a "shadow site" which google indexes (which google calls HTNL snapshots). If I am right in thinking this then I can pick a winner for the bounty

• Is there a way I can filter traffic by page-type based upon URL structure in Google-Analytics or Google Webmaster Tools?

  I have a local business directory site. I'm trying to segment my incoming traffic by page-type such that I can find out what percentage of traffic is going to zip code pages exclusively and what percentage is going to city/state level pages. I basically want to filter by URL structure to find out what percentage of total traffic zip code pages account for. The reason for doing this is to find out if Google Tag Manager can help with this? • Using shortkeys to search the internet for a term selected in a text editor/viewer

  It seems possible (as I learned from a comment to this question made by user55822) to use a command in order to search a term on the web by using "keybinding" the way Aretha is used. What the aforementioned user says is that "you could search mouse selection anywhere by using an app like Artha, or by keybinding sh -c 'firefox "http://translate.google.com/#en/fr/$(xclip -o)"' (example given translate english into french)" A lot of things are obscure for me here. I could use Artha or keybinding (as alternative), or both? How to do that in each case? and "The command I gave you will open google translate in Firefox with your mouse selection (text highlighted) as a query. Use sh -c 'firefox "https://www.google.com/search?q=$(xclip -o)"' if you want regular Google over Google translate. And obviously, that would work everywhere" I do not know what to do with that formula. What should I do exactly? How to use it? In what application?

• Is IE9 a modern browser?

  At http://people.mozilla.com/~prouget/ie9/ there is a very provocative article entitled "Is IE9 a modern browser?". There is a rebuttal by Tim Sneath at http://blogs.msdn.com/b/tims/archive/2011/02/15/a-modern-browser.aspx that is well worth a look. Certainly IE9 is already superior to its predecessors. My comment on the matter is that those that consider IE9 to be non-standards compliant, should submit tests to the W3C to demonstrate the non-compliance. Upon acceptance by the W3C, all the competing browsers can then be re-tested. I prefer objective tests to subjective opinion. I have used IE9 and on some sites such as Hotmail, it is noticeably faster. I have so far been unable to apply the promised IE9 lockout of spyware cookies. With Firefox, I just instal NoScript and never enable spyware sites.

  In the game Hearthstone, there are cards with animated images on them. Fading sprites in and out/rotating them Simple scrolling textures A distortion effect, very evident in the cape and hair of example 1. Swirling smoke effects, the light in example 1 and the green/purple glow in example 2. The first three elements are trivial, what I'd like to know is how the last two could be done. Can this even be done realtime in a game, or are they pre-rendered animations?

• Getting SSL certificate for a sub-domain

  Our company owns a domain say www.mycompany.com. I understand that it is trivial to get an SSL certificate for above domain since we do have a website running on that address. We want a certificate for a subdomain say sub.mycompany.com. We intend to use this sub-domain in our organisation network only and have no plans to publish a public website on this subdomain. So the question is "Is it necessary to have a DNS entry for subdomain, resolving to our IP address and host some page on that address?" I hope proving that main domain is in our control, we can get an SSL certificate for sub domain also. Is it possible?

• Move Data into the Grid for Scalable, Predictable Response Times

  CloudTran is pleased to introduce the availability of the CloudTran Transaction and Persistence Manager for creating scalable, reliable data services on the Oracle Coherence In-Memory Data Grid (IMDG). Use of IMDG architectures has been key to handling today’s web-scale loads because it eliminates database latency by storing important and frequently access data in memory instead of on disk. The CloudTran product lets developers easily use an IMDG for full ACID-compliant transactions without having to be concerned about the location or spread of data. The system has its own implementation of fast, scalable distributed transactions that does NOT depend on XA protocols but still guarantees all ACID properties. Plus, CloudTran asynchronously replicates data going into the IMDG to back-end datastores and back-up data centers, again ensuring ACID properties. CloudTran can be accessed through Java Persistence API (JPA via TopLink Grid) and now, through a new Low-Level API, or LLAPI. This is ideal for use in SOA applications that need data reliability, high availability, performance, and scalability. Still in limited beta release, the LLAPI gives developers the ability to use standard put/remove logic available in Coherence and then wrap logic with simple Spring annotations or XML+AspectJ to start transactions. An important feature of LLAPI is the ability to join transactions. This is a common outcome for SOA applications that need to reduce network traffic by aggregating data into single cache entries and then doing SOA service processing in the node holding the data. This results in the need to orchestrate transaction processing across multiple service calls. CloudTran has the capability to handle these “multi-client” transactions at speed with no loss in ACID properties. Developing software around an IMDG like Oracle Coherence is an important choice for today’s web-scale applications and services. But this introduces new architectural considerations to maintain scalability in light of increased network loads and data movement. Without using CloudTran, developers are faced with an incredibly difficult task to ensure data reliability, availability, performance, and scalability when working with an IMDG. Working with highly distributed data that is entirely volatile while stored in memory presents numerous edge cases where failures can result in data loss. The CloudTran product takes care of all of this, leaving developers with the confidence and peace of mind that all data is processed correctly. • Redirect from the main page on multilanguage site

  I've decided to start developing multilingual web site. Now I'm thinking about the structure. The idea is to use a simple algorithm to find out what language is most interesting to the visitor when he makes his first visit to the root page, and then forward him to the corresponding address, for example, http://example.com/en/ for English-speaking audience and http://example.com/ru/ for Russians. The question is, how search engines react on such redirect? If this approach does not take away site's reputation, which redirects should I choose: 301 or 302? I would be very grateful for the reasoned response.

• Why ubuntu 13.10 always show "access prompt" when start?

  After my Ubuntu PC update from 13.04 to 13.10, when start up, an access prompt always show and ask me password for "my_email@gmail.com". I was input password for email or another services, which registed with "my_email@gmail.com", but it's still "incorect". I can close but next time, it appears again. It never appeared before 13.10. What is application show that prompt? How can I turn off this? Here is access prompt?

  we are using the google search appliance in our web app. It is used by several other parts of our organization but we are using it on a web app that uses https. So, we followed google's instructions to get all the google code via https so that users don't get the annoying "This page contains both secure and insecure items" popup. Most of the google code has behaved and come to us as https, but there is a part of it pulling from http://www.google.com/cse full URL = http://www.google.com/cse?q=searchTerma&cx=001025153263958516519%3Aj2323tveixc&cof=FORID%3A11%3BNB%3A1&ie... that causes the insecure items warning to popup. This popup occurs in the results page and the above URL is the only non-secure request I can find.

  I made a javascript class Ball.js that handles physics interactions betweens balls as well as painting. In the v1.0, the ball vs ball collision detection and resolution is well handled. In the next version (v2), I'm trying to add edgeCollision handling. I'm having some problems, maybe you will be able to help me. • Webmaster tools showing 404 for non existent folder pages

  Google webmaster tools is reporting some/many 404 urls that don't exist on my site. The links are things such as domain.com/xyz/ However that doesn't exist, but domain.com/xyz/index.html does exist. The "linked from" pages all show proper links to the "/xyz/index.html". The page without index.html DOES 404, but why is google even trying these urls if they are not linked to? My real question, is there a way to have google stop attempting to load these pages, and ultimately remove these from the crawl errors report. Thanks.

• How can I redirect everything but the index as 410?

  Our site shut down and we need to give a 410 redirect to the users. We have a small one-page replacement site set up in the same domain and a custom 410 error page. We'd like to have it so that all page views are responded with 410 and redirected to the error page, except for the front page, which should point to the new index.html. Here's what in the .htaccess: RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule !^index\.html$ index.html [L,R=410] This works, except for one thing: If I type the domain name, I get the 410 page. With www.example.com/index.html I see the index page as I should, but just www.example.com gets 410. How could I fix this?

• Not Quite Multiseat

  I am attempting to create a pair programming environment sort of set up like multiseat: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MultiseatX[1] or https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MultiseatOneCard[2] (as the standard issue boxes only have one graphics card) The thing is, I only want one login session, just with 2 monitors, keyboards, and mice. As well as having 2 active applications (so 2 people can be typing independantly). They should ideally be able to mouse over and click & type in the other persons monitor, as well as move windows between the montors. Does anybody know of anything like this that will work? We are running Ubuntu 12.04.

• Google Analytics: Why does "/" appear in goal funnel visualization?

  This is the goal funnel for checkout. Does anyone have any idea where the "/" is coming from? The cart page is at site: game on glove dot com (I don't want this stackoverflow page being indexed in google particularly well). Go to the site, click on the order button, make your selection, and click the button to enter the cart (it resolves to /Cart and /Shop-Cart). I believe I used the regular expression matching to match "cart". So why the "/" (I don't know what is causing the home page to reload when users are on the Cart page within a Colorbox lightbox where the only way back to home or "/" is to hit the exit button in the top right of the lightbox)? Here's my one guess for the former question but it doesn't seem likely: See the "check out with paypal" button? If you hovered over it, it does default to the home page which is what might be the "/"... but it really redirects the user to the paypal.com page so it shouldn't also load the home page.
