  I'm used to work with Java where large amounts of examples are available. SOLUTION mnuActionLanguage.ComboBox.BindingContext = this.BindingContext; at the end solved the problem!

• How can I force Javascript garbage collection in IE? IE is acting very slow after AJAX calls & DOM

  I have a page with chained drop-downs. Choosing an option from the first select populates the second, and choosing an option from the second select returns a table of matching results using the innerHtml function on an empty div on the page. The problem is, once I've made my selections and a considerable amount of data is brought onto the page, all subsequent Javascript on the page runs exceptionally slowly. It seems as if all the data I pulled back via AJAX to populate the div is still hogging a lot of memory. I tried setting the return object which contains the AJAX results to null after calling innerHtml but with no luck. Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Opera all show no performance degradation when I use Javascript to insert a lot of data into the DOM, but in IE it is very apparent. To test that it's a Javascript/DOM issue rather than a plain old IE issue, I created a version of the page that returns all the results on the initial load, rather than via AJAX/Javascript, and found IE had no performance problems. FYI, I'm using jQuery's jQuery.get method to execute the AJAX call. • How to get friendly device name from DEV_BROADCAST_DEVICEINTERFACE and Device Instance ID

  I've registered a window with RegisterDeviceNotification and can successfully recieve DEV_BROADCAST_DEVICEINTERFACE messages. However, the dbcc_name field in the returned struct is always empty. The struct I have is defined as such: [StructLayout(LayoutKind.Sequential)] public struct DEV_BROADCAST_DEVICEINTERFACE { public int dbcc_size; public int dbcc_devicetype; public int dbcc_reserved; public Guid dbcc_classguid; [MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPStr)] public string dbcc_name; } And I'm using Marshal.PtrToStructure on the LParam of the WM_DEVICECHANGE message. Should this be working? Or even better... Is there an alternative way to get the name of a device upon connection? • Display Simple Web Page In My Application Using Blackberry BrowserField

  Hello All, What I am trying to do is display a simple web page in my application (no javascript,cookies or any scripting and not trying to detect any events such as mouse click etc.). I am using the code below and right now all I get is empty screen .. I know that the application is accessing the internet (the data transfer arrow flashes in the top right corner) but not sure why its not rendering. • A tool to aid completion of missing or incomplete source code documentation

  I have several finished, older PHP projects with a lot of includes that I would like to document in javadoc/phpDocumentor style. While working through each file manually and being forced to do a code review alongside the documenting would be the best thing, I am, simply out of time constraints, interested in tools to help me automate the task as much as possible. The tool I am thinking about would ideally have the following features: Parse a PHP project tree and tell me where there are undocumented files, classes, and functions/methods (i.e. elements missing the appropriate docblock comment) Provide a method to half-way easily add the missing docblocks by creating the empty structures and, ideally, opening the file in an editor (internal or external I don't care) so I can put in the description. Optional: Automatic recognition of parameter types, return values and such. But that's not really required. The language in question is PHP, though I could imagine that a C/Java tool might be able to handle PHP files after some tweaking. Looking forward to your suggestions! Bounty There are already very good suggestions for this (that I have not yet had the time to check out) to point out the gaps, but none yet providing aid in filling them. I want to give the question some more exposure, maybe there is some sort of a graphical extension to php_codesniffer to achieve the level of automation I'm dreaming of. • Nokogiri pull parser (Nokogiri::XML::Reader) issue with self closing tag

  I have a huge XML(400MB) containing products. Using a DOM parser is therefore excluded, so i tried to parse and process it using a pull parser. Below is a snippet from the each_product(&block) method where i iterate over the product list. They both are of type Nokogiri::XML::Node::ELEMENT_NODE and i am not able to find any other discriminator in the documentation. Any ideas on how to solve this issue?

  I'm trying to understand regex as much as I can, so I came up with this regex-based solution to codingbat.com repeatEnd: Given a string and an int N, return a string made of N repetitions of the last N characters of the string. You may assume that N is between 0 and the length of the string, inclusive. public String repeatEnd(String str, int N) { return str.replaceAll( ".(?!.{N})(?=.*(?<=(.{N})))|." .replace("N", Integer.toString(N)), "$1" ); } Explanation on its parts: .(?!.{N}): asserts that the matched character is one of the last N characters, by making sure that there aren't N characters following it. (?=.*(?<=(.{N}))): in which case, use lookforward to first go all the way to the end of the string, then a nested lookbehind to capture the last N characters into \1. Note that this assertion will always be true. |.: if the first assertion failed (i.e. there are at least N characters ahead) then match the character anyway; \1 would be empty. In either case, a character is always matched; replace it with \1. My questions are: Is this technique of nested assertions valid? (i.e. looking behind during a lookahead?) Is there a simpler regex-based solution?

Can anyone see how the BitmapImage is not being saved correctly? Or why it would be giving me this error?

  I was working with a friend on a project, and he edited a bunch of files that shouldn't have been edited. Somehow I merged his work into mine, either when I pulled it, or when I tried to just pick the specific files out that I wanted. I've been looking and playing for a long time, trying to figure out how to remove the commits that contain the edits to those files, it seems to be a toss up between revert and rebase, and there are no straightforward examples, and the docs assume I know more than I do. What I want would be for them to be rendered, and the remaining row (the product-specific columns) to be empty. Is there a way to do this? Note: I have also tried nested rich:datatables, but the internal columns do not overlap with the outer columns containing the header. With rich:subtable the inner columns overlap with the outer columns and show nice.

• Dynamically created LinkButton not firing any events

  I'm customising the Group Headers on a Telerik RadGrid by injecting a LinkButton into it during the ItemDataBound event. The button renders perfectly, but I can't get it to hit any event handlers. • Legacy URL rewriting with query string parameters

  I've looked at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/817325/asp-net-mvc-routing-legacy-urls-passing-querystring-ids-to-controller-actions and several other similar posts for legacy URL routing, but I can't get past the error "The RouteData must contain an item named 'controller' with a non-empty string value." Looking this up on line didn't give me any hints to solve my problem. I've implemented the Legacy routing class described in the link above, and this is what I've defined in the routing table: routes.Add( "Legacy", new LegacyRoute("fooref.aspx", "FooRef", new LegacyRouteHandler()) ); routes.MapRoute( "FooRef", "{controller}/{action}", new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", foo_id = UrlParameter.Optional, bar_id = UrlParameter.Optional } ); When I use Phil Haack's route debugger, it indicates that fooref.aspx has a match, but when I turn the route debugger off, I get the error above. If I reverse the statement order, I get "Resource not found" for /ctprefer.aspx, which makes sense -- so it appears to be finding that as a valid route when put in the other order. Where do I need to declare this missing controller reference? Have routing requirements changed for ASP.NET MVC 2 RTM?

  Hello all, i'm getting a "Finalizing a Cursor that has not been deactivated or closed" error on this piece of code. The code is used to fill a listview. Since it's a non-fatal error , there is no crash and all seems to works fine..but i don't like the error. If i close the cursor at the end of this code..the listview stay's empty. if i close the cursor in onStop , i get the same error. • dojo.xhrPost and Zend Framwork action, no POST data, not using a form

  Hi all, I'm trying to send some data via dojo.xhrPost to an Zend Controller Action. I can see the data being sent in Firebug console. However, when inspecting the post data, the array is empty. I'm not sure if it is possible to send an arbitrary string of data via dojo.xhrPost without using a form. This is probably a very n00b mistake. • jQuery.ajax call to Twitter succeeds but returns null for Firefox

  I've got code that makes a simple get request to Twitter (search) using jQuery's ajax method. The code works fine on Safari, but fails on Firefox (3.6.3). In the Firefox case, my jQuery.ajax parameters 'success' method is invoked, but the supplied data is null. (In Safari, I receive a boatload of JSON data). I am aware of a similar post on Stack Overflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1188976/jquery-get-function-succeeds-with-200-but-returns-no-content-in-firefox and from that would assume this problem is possibly related to cross-domain security, but... I know there are many JS widgets and whatnots that ajax get data from Twitter. Is there something I need to enable to allow this?

• Getting Response from TIdHttp with Error Code 400

  I have been writing a Delphi library for StackApps API. I have run into a problem with Indy. I am using the version that ships with Delphi 2010. If you pass invalid parameters to one of the StackApps API it will return a HTTP Error Code 400 and then in the response it will contain a JSON object with more details. By visiting http://api.stackoverflow.com/0.8/stats/?Key=BadOnPurpose in Chrome Browser you can see an Example. I.E. and Firefox hide the JSON. Using WireShark I can see that the JSON object is returned using the code below, but I am unable to access it using Indy. For this test code I dropped a TIdHttp component on the form and placed the following code in a button click. procedure TForm10.Button2Click(Sender: TObject); var SS : TStringStream; begin SS := TStringStream.Create; IdHTTP1.Get('http://api.stackoverflow.com/0.8/stats/?Key=BadOnPurpose',SS,[400]); Memo1.Lines.Text := SS.DataString; SS.Free; end; I passed [400] so that it would not raise the 400 exception. It is as if Indy stopped reading the response. As the contents of Memo1 are empty. I am looking for a way to get the JSON Details.

• Error using Dynamic Data Filtering: missing datasource

  I am trying to use the ASP.NET Dynamic Data Filtering project, but I'm running into a problem during the configuration. I'm following the instructions on the author's blog, and everything works like described. Then it tells me to change the datasource using the designer view. I am told to select the "GridDataSource" in the "Configure data source" wizard. This option is not there though. I get all of the classes in my project, including the DataContext that was generated by Linq. When I choose "Show only DataContext objects", the dropdown ("Choose your context object:") is completely empty. When I turn of the checkbox and choose my DataContext class, I get asked which table I want and all that. But, as the whole purpose of a Dynamic Data site is NOT to use one single table, that's not much help. So I've looked at the instructions again and copied the resulting datasource from the example: <asp:DynamicLinqDataSource ID="GridDataSource" runat="server" EnableDelete="True" EnableUpdate="True"></asp:DynamicLinqDataSource> Which is exactly what I had, without the "WhereParameters" nodes in there. Now, when I run the list page however, I get an exception about a missing datasource from the filtering component. Of course when I remove the DynamicFilterRepeater, it works again. • UINavigationController inside tabbar loading a child root view

  Hi guys, Firstly i'll preface by saying that i am a complete Cocoa touch/objective c noob (.Net dev having a dabble) I have searched on Google as well as here but cannot seem to find an easy solution. I have a UItabbarcontroller view with a UINavigationController inside its first tab I have the root view for this UINavigationController stored in a seperate class and NIB as i am trying to seperate the data viewing from the data loading (i'm going to reuse the table list in multiple places in my database) and simply pass the root view its data using a loading method and have it take it from there. What i want to happen: App loads and loads the first view of the tab bar (A UINavigationController) The UINavigationController inside the first view loads a root view (a UIViewController with a table view) and sets its title The UINavigationController loads the data from a web service and parses it The UINavigationController sends the data to a loading method inside the UIViewController Am i thinking about this completely wrongly? What currently happens: the first tab bar loads with an empty uinavigationcontroller (no table view) the data methods fire and get the webservice data this child view gets sent its data using the loading method the tableview delegate events fail to fire inside the child view telling it to load the data into the table I just can't seem how to load my second view inside the root view of the navigation controller and then send it my data?

• jquery WebService responseXML / responseText

  I get an empty response back from this local WebService call via jquery / ajax. I have verified the URL and XML input string by invoking the call in a browser. I DO get XML code back as expected. What am I missing? Could it have something to do with the return type "XmlDocument"? I have tried changing out text/xml to text. No affect. Tried a GET instead of POST. • Android app resets on orientation change, best way to handle?

  So I am making a basic chess app to play around with some various elements of android programming and so far I am learning a lot, but this time I am lost. When the orientation of the emulator changes the activity gets reset. Based on my research the same thing will happen anytime the application is paused/interrupted, ie. keyboard change, phone call, hitting the home key etc. Obviously, it is not viable to have a chess game constantly reset, so once again I find myself needing to learn how to fix this problem. My research brings up a few main things, overriding the onPaused method in my Activity, listening for Orientation, Keyboard changes in my manifest (via android:configChanges), using Parcelables, or Serialization. I have looked up a lot of sample code using Pacelables, but to be honest it is too confusing. Maybe coming back tomorrow with fresh eyes will be beneficial, but right now the more I look at Parcelables the less sense it makes. My application utilizes a Board object, which has 64 Cell Objects(in an 8x8 2D array), and each cell has a Piece Object, either an actual piece or null if the space is empty. Assuming that I use either Parcelable or Serialization I am assuming that I would have to Parcelize or Serialize each class, Board, Cell, and Piece. First and foremost, is Parcelable or Serialization even the right thing to be looking at for this problem? If so is either Parcelable or Serializable preferred for this? And am I correct in assuming that each of the three objects would have to be Parceled/Serialized? Finally, does anybody have a link to a simple to understand Parcelable tutorial? Anything to help me understand, and stop further headaches down the road when my application expands even further. Any help would be appreciated.

I recently got the book "Introductory Graph Theory" by Gary Chartrand to brush up on my math and have some fun. Here is an exercise from the book that I'm finding particularly befuddling: Suppose you and your husband attended a party with three other married couples. Several handshakes took place. No one shook hands with himself (or herself) or with his (or her) spouse, and no one shook hands with the same person more than once. After all the handshaking was completed, suppose you asked each person, including your husband, how many hands he or she had shaken. Each person gave a different answer. a) How many hands did you shake? b) How many hands did your husband shake? Now, I've been reasoning about this for a while, and trying to draw sample graphs that could illustrate a solution, but I'm coming up empty-handed. My logic is this: there are 8 different vertices in the graph, and 7 of them have different degrees. The values for the degrees must therefore be 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and x. The # of degrees for one married couple is (0, 6). Since all graphs have an even number of odd vertices, x must be either 5, 3, or 1. What's your solution to this problem? And, if you could solve it in python, how would you do it? (python is fun.) Cheers.

• How can we leverage NSAppearance?

  I was reading the Cocoa documentation and stumbled across some new features in the 10.9 API. From the docs I gather that the NSAppearance class and a related protocol NSAppearanceCustomization Appear to be a means of customizing the appearance of NSView and its descendants. An NSAppearance object represents a file that specifies a standard or custom appearance that applies to a subset of UI elements in an app. An app can contain multiple appearance files and—because NSAppearance conforms to NSCoding—you can use Interface Builder to assign UI elements to an appearance. Typically, you customize a window by using Xcode to create an appearance file that contains the views you want to customize and the custom art that should be applied to them. Xcode transforms the file’s art content into a runtime format that AppKit can draw when the specified views are displayed. Well that all sounds neat and promising, but nowhere in the documentation can I find what an appearance file is or how to make one. Google searches are coming up empty other than for the thin documentation I have already read. I do see that UIKit has a similar sounding UIAppearance class, but from what I can tell this is not a straight port of the UIKit class. Does anybody know how to make this magic "appearance file" and what exactly we can do with it?
