• Embed URL from variable in HTML file in Rails application

  hi, I have a doubt which might be silly for experience Rails developers. I am creating an application which is suppose to embed a video player with URL passed to it. So while displaying i.e in XXX.html.erb file i am writting below code. Now problem is @movie.trailer is my variable in ruby code which has URL value . I want the embedded video to load with URL given by this variable value. • Polymorphic urls with singular resources

  I'm getting strange output when using the following routing setup: resources :warranty_types do resources :decisions end resource :warranty_review, :only => [] do resources :decisions end I have many warranty_types but only one warranty_review (thus the singular route declaration). The decisions are polymorphically associated with both. I have just a single decisions controller and a single _form.html.haml partial to render the form for a decision. This is the view code: = simple_form_for @decision, :url => [@decision_tree_owner, @decision.becomes(Decision)] do |form| The warranty_type url looks like this (for a new decision): /warranty_types/2/decisions whereas the warranty_review url looks like this: /admin/warranty_review/decisions.1 I think because the warranty_review id has no where to go, it's just getting appended to the end as an extension. Can someone explain what's going on here and how I might be able to fix it? I can work around it by trying to detect for a warranty_review class and substituting @decision_tree_owner with :warranty_review and this generates the correct url, but this is messy. I would have thought that the routing would be smart enough to realise that warranty_review is a singular resource and thus discard the id from the URL. This is Rails 3 by the way :)

  I have a binary files which needs to be sent as a string to a third-party web-service. Turns out it requires that it needs to be base64 encoded. In ruby I use the following: body = body << IO.read("#{@postalcard.postalimage.path}") body is a strong which conists of a bunch of strings as parameters. So...how do I base64 encode it into this string? Thanks.

  I am trying to examine the contents of an assembly and find all classes in it that are directly or indirectly derived from Windows.Forms.UserControl. I am doing this: Assembly dll = Assembly.LoadFrom(filename); var types = dll.GetTypes().Where(x => x.BaseType == typeof(UserControl)); But it is giving an empty list because none of the classes directly extend UserControl. I don't know enough about reflection to do it quickly, and I'd rather not write a recursive function if I don't have to.

  Sorry about the strange title. I really have no idea how to express it any better... I get an error on the following snippet. I use the class Dummy everywhere. Doesn't the compiler understand the constraint I've added on DummyImplBase? Is this a compiler bug as it works if I use Dummy directly instead of setting it as a constraint? • IIS7 Rewrite rule being duplicated across 2 different websites (unwanted)

  We have a IIS7 on Windows Server 2008. It is hosting a handful of sites, on a handful of ip addresses. 2 of those sites are actually wildcards on the domain: *.firstdomain.com *.seconddomain.com However, I am finding that any URL Rewrite rules I add for one of these "websites", is automatically in the URL Rewrite section for the other. Similarly, if I disable the rule in in one, it disables in the other. This doesn't happen with the other sites defined on this server, just these two. I look at the parent (top level, the server as a whole), and the rule is not there. Any idea what's going on here?

• ASP.NET MVC - hiding id in URL?

  I'm building a basic blog application just now, for viewing data I'm just using the default route, i.e. - routes.MapRoute ( "Default", // Route name "{controller}/{action}/{id}", new { controller = "Blog", action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional } ); So that when you go to mysite.com/View/12 it displays the blog with id 12. I want to modify the URLs so that they look as follows: mysite.com/View/2010/06/01/this-is-the-title. I could have a URL mapping like - routes.MapRoute( "View", "View/{year}/{month}/{day}/{title}", new { controller = "Blog", action = "View" } ); But then I'm not passing the ID into the Controller action so I would have to search on the date and title which doesn't feel right. On the other hand, if I pass the ID in it will show up in the URL which isn't what I'm aiming for either. Is there any way to redirect to the URL I want in the controller action after passing only the ID in as a paramter, or to pass the ID into the a Map Route but hide it in the URL?   Let's say we have these four classes: BinaryTree, SplayTree (which is a sub-class of BinaryTree), BinaryNode and SplayNode (which is a sub-class of BinaryNode). In class BinaryTree I have 2 Find functions, like this bool Find(const T &) const; virtual Node<T> * Find(const T &, Node<T> *) const; and in SplayTree I would like to reuse the second one, because it works in the same way (for example) as in SplayTree, the only thing different is the return type, which is SplayNode. I thought it might be enough if I use this line in SplayTree.cpp using BinaryTree::Find; but it isn't. So, how can I do this?

I heard people talk about creating a license tied to the mac address of the computer, so the license only works on that computer. Now I know how to get the mac address in code but I dont understand how I can do this step when they first make the purchase on the web, so please what is the basic algorithm for node locked licenses ?

Can anyone explain this? I suspect it's a syntactical problem due to my Bar class being defined within the Foo class, but can't seem to find a way around it. This is simple public inheritance, so mOtherKey should be accessible from the Bar constructor. Right? Or is it something to do with the fact that mOtherKey is const and I have already initialised it to 0 in the BarBC constructor?

• Custom Image Button and Radio/Toggle Button from Common Base Class

  Hi All, I would like to create a set of custom controls that are basically image buttons (it's a little more complex than that, but that's the underlying effect I'm going for) that I've seen a few different examples for. However, I would like to further extend that to also allow radio/toggle buttons. What I'd like to do is have a common abstract class called ImageButtonBase that has default implementations for ImageSource and Text, etc. That makes a regular ImageButton implementation pretty easy. The issue I am having is creating the RadioButton flavor of it. As I see it, there are at least three options: It would be easy to create something that derives from RadioButton, but then I can't use the abstract class I've created. I could change the abstract class to an interface, but then I lose the abstract implementations, and will in fact have duplication of code. I could derive from my abstract class, and re-implement the RadioButton-type properties and events (IsChecked, GroupName, etc.), but that certainly doesn't seem like a great idea. Note: I have seen http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2362641/how-to-get-a-group-of-toggle-buttons-to-act-like-radio-buttons-in-wpf, but what I want to do is a little more complex. I'm just wondering if anybody has an example of an implementation, or something that might be adapted to this kind of scenario. I can see pros and cons of each of the ideas above, but each comes with potential pitfalls. Thanks, wTs

  Yeah, mod_rewrite is driving me crazy. Here is the problem: my htaccess RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?url=$1 [L,QSA] when i try to access the page advantix (so address was www.mywebsite.com/advantix), i'm being redirected to advantix/?url=advantix Looking at the access log, i have a suspicious 301 in the middle "GET /advantix HTTP/1.1" 301 335 "-" "Mozilla/5.0" "GET /advantix/?url=advantix HTTP/1.1" 200 186 "-" "Mozilla/5.0" There is one important detail: advantix is a directory. So, if i comment that rule, advantix goes to the folder and list the files. Why it applies automatically the / if there's a folder matching? I don't want to reach the folder, i want to reach index.php?url=advantix with a call to advantix. I have the rewriteLogs too, but they didn't help more. My vhost conf has Directory tag with Options All, if helps, i don't know much about that.

• DotNetOpenAuth getting return_To url as the provider

  I have a provider that I'm upgrading from version 2 to version 3. basically a user comes to one of our sites and we say "if you don't have an openID sign up with this one" They click that and are sent to our in house provider what signs them up for an account and has to verify their email address. In the link I send via Email I included the return to url . This way when they click the link to verify their email (sometimes up to a week later) they are sent to our page that knows to send them back to the returnTo to login. I could not find a good way to do this in version 2 so I used a hack.   I want to write a function in Java that takes as input an integer and outputs every possible permutation of numbers up to that integer. For example: f(1) 0 f(2) should output: 00 01 10 11 f(3) should output: 000 001 002 010 011 012 020 021 022 100 .... 220 221 222 That is it should output all 27 permutations of the digits of the numbers 0, 1, 2. f(4) should output 0000 0001 0002 0003 0010 ... 3330 3331 3332 3333 f(4) should output 00000 00001 ... 44443 44444 I have been trying to solve this problem but cannot seem to work out how to do it and keep getting confused by how many loops I need.   I have a wget-like script which downloads a page and then retrieves all the files linked in IMG tags on that page. Given the URL of the original page and the the link extracted from the IMG tag in that page I need to build the URL for the image file I want to retrieve.
