  • WPF touch and slide/drag animation

    I'm trying to create a pretty simple WPF interface, and from what I know this should be mostly possible using pure XAML. What I know I have a pretty basic understanding of WPF so far, however I have a decent grasp on XAML. I know or can work out how to put content in these panels. This isn't the topic of this question. What I don't know I don't know how to animate this interface. I'm not very proficient at binding, however again, that's not the topic of this question. The topic of this question is what would be the best way to animate panels 1-4 (images below) so that they may be dragged (via touch) into view. The number of panels here may be static for the purpose of this question. The panels (1-4) can be stack panels, grids or whatever; their content isnt important. What is important is the container that would contain all 4 panels. The complication in this animation is the other two containers here (Item One/TODO), as they're in the way of a smooth animation. If it makes this question simpler, the touch features can be ignored for now, and a simple button push can slide the containers across. One Two

    Hi, I would like to add ajax to an existing spring mvc 2.5 webapps. But i dont know where to start. I think spring does not support ajax integration. Does someone know how can I accomplish this? I was thinking that my ajaxrequest should be catch by the controller interface but I dont know where to start.   • iPhone: Override UIButton buttonWithType to return subclass

    I want to be able to create a UIButton with an oversized responsive area. I know that one way to do that is to override the hitTest method in a subclass, but how do I instantiate my custom button object in the first place? [OversizedButton buttonWithType: UIButtonTypeDetailDisclosure]; doesn't work out of the box because buttonWithType returns a UIButton, not an OversizedButton. So it seems like I need to override the buttonWithType method as well. Does anyone know how to do this? @implementation OversizedButton + (id)buttonWithType:(UIButtonType)buttonType { // Construct and return an OversizedButton rather than a UIButton // Needs to handle special types such as UIButtonTypeDetailDisclosure // I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO DO THIS PART } - (UIView *)hitTest:(CGPoint)point withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { // Return results if touch event was in oversized region // I ALREADY KNOW HOW TO DO THIS PART } @end Alternatively, maybe I could create the button using alloc/initWithFrame.     I want to show no scope bar when the table is empty (before the search bar edits for the first time), no scope bar when it's editing, and finally show it when editing done. I know about the UISearchBarDelegate protocol, but I don't know how to show/hide the scope bar with animation. I know UISearchBar has setShowsScopeBar:, but no setShowsScopeBar:animated: the way it does for setShowsCancelButton:animated.

  • Currency exchange rates for paypal

    Does anyone know a way to get the currency exchange rates for paypal? We have custom shopping cart and use Paypal (Website Payments Standard) to handle payments. Our 'home' currency is Euro, but we would like to present our customers the option to pay in different currencies (USD, CAD, AUD and GBP). PayPal offers the option to:     a) automatically convert our Euro quoted prices to, for example, USD upon checkout     b) checkout in USD directly With option a): We get paid in Euro, the customer pays for the currency exchange (good). The customer does not know what he/she is going to be charged in USD until checkout. (bad) With option b) The customer pays in USD, then the currency is converted into EUR and we pay the the currency exchange. The customer never has to worry about the different currencies (excellent) We do not know the exchange rate PayPal is going to use so we cannot quote the correct prices to our customer (showstopper) So my question is:   Does anybody know a way to get the PayPal exchange rates? or   Does anybody know how to make a good estimate? Update: PayPal updates it's exchange rate 2 times a day. (at least, that is what they state). They use the Interbank Exchange Rate provided by ??? and add a 2.5% spread above this rate to determine their retail foreign exchange rates. Unforunately, there the Interbank Exchange Rates vary from source to source and from minute to minute. We have been monitoring the PayPal exchange rates and cross referenced them with the Official reference rates provides by the European Central Bank. the results vary widely, somewhere from 1 to 6 ! percent...

  • When is calculating or variable-reading faster?

    hi, to be honest, I don't really know what the "small green men" in my cpu and compiler do, so I sometimes would like to know :). Currently I would like to know what's faster, so that I can design my code in a more efficient way. So for example I want to calclate something at different points in my sourcecode, when will it be faster to calculate it once and store it in a variable that's read and used for the next points it's needed and when is it faster to calculate it everytime? I think it's depending on how "complex" and "long" the calculation is and how fast then cache is, where variables are stored, but I don't have any clue what's faster :). Thanks for any reply to my tiny but important question! Andreas PS: perhaps it's important to know that I code in JAVA, but it's more a genral question.

  • Upload file via HTTP from VBA (WinHTTP)

    Hi all, I'm trying to HTTP upload a binary file programmatically from within VBA. I intend to put an ASPX page on the server. I know there are lots of nice ways to do that (e.g. use web service instead of aspx), but my constraint is that it must run in VBA (in an excel file), and that I cannot install any additional components on the client. So I guess I'll use WinHTTP, and I've found several examples to post form data, but not to post a binary file. I probably need to base64 the file contents? If so, please let me know. If I can make WinHTTP do file encoding for me, please let me know. If there is a much better way to reach my goal (Upload file from within VBA, server needn't necessarily be ASPX, could be a ASP.NET-Web service as well), please let me know... Thx, chiccodoro
