• Is it possible to get collection of some ejb`s instances from container?

  Hi! Scenario: I have some @Statefull bean for user session (not an http session, it is web services session). And I need to manage user`s session per user. Goal: I need to have possibility to get collection of @Statefull UserSession`s instances and control maximum number of session`s per user, and session`s life time. Q: Is it possible to get Collection of ejb`s instances from ejb container, instead of storing them in some collection, map etc. ? I am using glassfish v3 , ejb 3.1, jax-ws. Thank You!

• Why aren't my JQuery .ajax requests being made in parallel?

  I am trying to make two ajax requests in parallel using jQuery like this: var sources = ["source1", "source2"]; $(sources).each(function() { var source = this; $.ajax({ async: true, type: "POST", data: {post: "data", in: "here"}, url: "/my/url/" + source, success: function(data) { process_result(data); } }); }); I got the basic structure from this question, but my requests still aren't being made in parallel. "source1" takes a while to complete, and I can see on the server that the second request isn't made until the first is completed. As far as I can tell, I don't have any other active requests, so I don't think it's a problem with the maximum number of parallel requests for the browser. Am I missing something else here?

  I have 2 mysql tables 1. questions: with the following columns: id, title, answer1, answer2, answer3, answer4, answer5, nranswers. and 2. answers with the following columns: id, questionid, userid, answer Every question has maximum 5 answers( it can have between 2 and 5 answers). My problem is that I want to select from my database, for a given question, how many times was every option selected. For example, let's suppose I have the question with the id 46, with 4 answers, and 48 users voted for the option #2, 37 users for the option #1 and 39 for the option #4. I want a query that selects that and write these things: 1 37 2 48 3 0 4 39 P.S. VERY IMPORTANT! IT MUST COUNT ONLY NRANSWERS ANSWERS, AND IT MUST ECHO THE ONES THAT WEREN'T VOTED BEFORE.

• Fastest way for inserting very large number of records into a Table in SQL

  The problem is, we have a huge number of records (more than a million) to be inserted into a single table from a Java application. The records are created by the Java code, it's not a move from another table, so INSERT/SELECT won't help. Currently, my bottleneck is the INSERT statements. I'm using PreparedStatement to speed-up the process, but I can't get more than 50 recods per second on a normal server. The table is not complicated at all, and there are no indexes defined on it. The process takes too long, and the time it takes will make problems. What can I do to get the maximum speed (INSERT per second) possible? Database: MS SQL 2008. Application: Java-based, using Microsoft JDBC driver.

• PHP+MYSQL Server Config

  Hi guys, I am parsing an XML file with PHP and inserting the rows in a MYSQL database. I am using PHP simplexml_load_files to load the XML and a foreach to loop through the array and insert the rows into my database. It works perfectly fine with small files i am testing, but it comes to reality I need to parse a large 500mb XML file and nothing happens. I was wondering what was the right Php.ini config for this case ? I have a VPS Linux Cent OS, with 256 mb of dedicated Memory and MYSQL 5.0.5. I have also set php memory_limit = 256M (maximum of my server) Any suggestions, similar experiences will be greatly appreciated Thanks

• MediaWiki: workaround for watchlist restricted to 7 days?

  I'm running MediaWiki 1.13.2. When I go to my watchlist, I'm limited to only viewing the last 7 days (though MediaWiki should permit me to view the last 30 days). I've tried: Clicking the all button Changing the URL Changing the settings under MY PREFERENCES-WATCHLIST. When I save (e.g. 30 days) it resets back to 7 days! Googling for an answer... Anyone heard of this bug before? Is there a workaround? I can't see a setting anywhere for this to be a maximum.

• get the list and input from one function and run them in different function

  Guys, I've just dipped in to limits.h by MS. So does it mean if I would write makeSanwich() return (_Ty(0)) it would make a sandwich for me? How is it possible that having this same code just fnc names different we are getting different results?

  I have a specific issue with general console printing and I was wondering whether anyone has a solution for it. I am trying to print a dataTable which would look like sth like this: Table ---------------------- Name |Surname | ---------------------- Mike |Mikhailowish| Rafaello|Mirena | and so on. In order to print the border of the bar I need to know what the maximum length of each column value is. I don't want to go through the whole database to find that out and then again to print it. I would rather like to do sth like: System.out.printLater(s); //herejust leave a pointer to a StringBuilder you will build ... s.append("--------"); ... System.out.printAllDeferred(); I understand the above is probably in 99.99999% chances impossible, but perhaps you guys have a clever way of achieving the above?

• I need to create a very large array of bits/boolean values. How would I do this in C/C++?

  Is it even possible to create an array of bits with more than 100000000 elements? If it is, how would I go about doing this? I know that for a char array I can do this: char* array; array = (char*)malloc(100000000 * sizeof(char)); If I was to declare the array by char array[100000000] then I would get a segmentation fault, since the maximum number of elements has been exceeded, which is why I use malloc. Is there something similar I can do for an array of bits?

I have a <h2> title, and I want it to have a max character property, be it CSS or javascript, so that whenever this maximum limit is passed, the title's end is replaced by ... (three dots).   I am new to google maps api. I'd like suggestions on achieving the following functionality: whenever the page loads, the map will load centered around the US. Imagine a box around the US with given lat/longs specifying the minimum and maximum boundaries. I need the map to load at the appropriate zoom (and zoom needs to be disabled) such that this box composes the entire map. Basically, I'm wondering if there is a function that loads the map based on lat/long boundaries (or some way to acheive this), rather then loading the map given a zoom level.

  I need to produce a string for use in an query e.g. SELECT whatever from Keywords.word IN (here); At the moment I have string which could be $search = "one word or four"; or $search = "one"; or $search = "one one"; I need to validate this into some acceptable for my query. I want a unique list of words, separated with a comma up to a maximum of three. This is what I have so far. $array = explode(" ",$search); $unique = array_unique ($array); I'm sure there must be a quicker way than evaluating each of the items for blank and selecting the first three.

• How to prevent negative number in Mysql

  Hello guys.. I have data which is starting from 0 in my database. My php will add 1 or -1 to the data depending on the user's input. My problem is that if data is 0 and a user try to subtract 1. The data become 4294967295 which is the maximum value of INT data type. Are there anyways to make the data stays in 0 even when the user asks for -1?   I'm stuck on how to formulate this problem properly and the following is: What if we had the following values: {('A','B','C','D'):3, ('A','C','B','D'):2, ('B','D','C','A'):4, ('D','C','B','A'):3, ('C','B','A','D'):1, ('C','D','A','B'):1} When we sum up the first place values: [5,4,2,3] (5 people picked for A first, 4 people picked for B first, and so on like A = 5, B = 4, C = 2, D = 3) The maximum values for any alphabet is 5, which isn't a majority (5/14 is less than half), where 14 is the sum of total values. So we remove the alphabet with the fewest first place picks. Which in this case is C. I want to return a dictionary where {'A':5, 'B':4, 'C':2, 'D':3} without importing anything.   Please see the two long linklabels below (please ignore the black lines above) Linklabels' length is made dynamically during runtime, and as seen, could be that it's too long and overlapping other text we have (there is another text where you see 'Differences'). My questions are: a) Can I limit the maximum length of a linklabel? b) Is that possible to use a scrollbar with a linklabel (or any similar control) in case that it's too long? e.g. setting it to 200 pixels, and in case it's longer, the user has to scroll the horizontal scroller and see end of the text. • How should I display invalid options?

  I've got a WinForms client-server app that displays various offers in a list. Every user (client) has a "rating". An offer consists of various data including a minimum and maximum rating. If a user's rating does not fall in that interval, he should not be able to take the offer. Of course I could just perform some server filtering and send a list of offers prefiltered for each user to the client application. But that would surely, and rightfully, lead to confused requests "Why isn't this offer showing up? I know it exists, it shows up on [other user]'s screen." How should I handle this? My favorite solution so far is to grey out the offer and add a tooltip "You can't take this offer because your rating is too high/low" while displaying greyed-out offers at the bottom of the list to leave the actually valid offers easily visible on top of the list.

  How to simulating two client-controlled vehicles colliding (sensibly) in a typical client/server setup for a network game? I did read this eminent blog post on how to do distributed network physics in general (without traditional client prediction), but this question is specifically on how to handle collisions of owned objects. Example Say client A is 20 ms ahead of server, client B 300 ms ahead of server (counting both latency and maximum jitter). This means that when the two vehicles collide, both clients will see the other as 320 ms behind - in the opposite direction of the velocity of the other vehicle. Head-to-head on a Swedish highway means a difference of 16 meters/17.5 yards! What not to try It is virtually impossible to extrapolate the positions, since I also have very complex vehicles with joints and bodies all over, which in turn have linear and angular positions, velocities and accelerations, not to mention states from user input.
