• How do I modify the -encoding argument to javac in the Android Ant build system

  Apologies if this is a stupid question - I'm an Android and Ant newbie. I have utf8 encoded source files that I need to compile with the Android Ant build system. By default, the encoding is set to ascii. I'd be very grateful for a pointer to whatever I need to do to let the build system know that my files are utf8. Incidentally, it works fine if I build in Eclipse, but I need to build from the command line. Thanks!

  Hi, First thing I would say is that I am a Drupal newbie. So, I would appreciate your answer in a detailed step by step process. I am using Drupal 6 and location module. There are two main content types - user profile (using content profile module) and event content type. Both have one field for location. Now, lets suppose in his profile, user is selecting city as Toronto and province as Ontario. And some events have been added for Toronto city. I need one Views, which will display events from user city. So, if user is from Vancouver, and they click on "my city events", they will see list of events from their city. Someone told me that I can achieve this using arguments/ relationships, but I don't know how to do that. Can someone please help me out? I am not good at PHP either :(

  Dear Guys I am somehow newbie and sometimes guru , but at this moment i don't have enough time to research My nightmare is , my boss ask me to create an interactive floor ( he just saw in an exhibition ) , he ask me to create one of them instead of buying , i am an actionscript crawler and developer with some skills in java and c# programming , i just made some track motion with a simple web cam , and this idea came to my mind if i can use an infrared or thermographic camera instead of simple camera so i can get better positioning if camera place at top of floor ! Now i just came here to ask you guys is there any resource , tip , help i can know before getting into this deal !? is there any lib or api out to deal with this ?! • Is there an equivalent for ActiveRecord#find_by equivalent for C#?

  I'm originally a C# developer (as a hobby), but as of late I have been digging into Ruby on Rails and I am really enjoying it. Right now I am building an application in C# and I was wondering if there is any collection implementation for C# that could match (or "semi-match") the find_by method of ActiveRecord. What I am essentially looking for is a list that would hold Rectangles: class Rectangle { public int Width { get; set; } public int Height { get; set; } public String Name { get; set; } } Where I could query this list and find all entries with Height = 10, Width = 20, or name = "Block". This was done with ActiveRecord by doing a call similar to Rectangle.find_by_name('Block'). The only way I can think of doing this in C# is to create my own list implementation and iterate through each item manually checking each item against the criteria. I fear I would be reinventing the wheel (and one of poorer quality). Any input or suggestions is much appreciated.

• AVD Failed to Load ~ Failed to Parse Properties ~ Mac OSX

  I'm going to say upfront, please forgive me. I'm a newbie to android development and fairly new to programming. Also on a Mac. You're going to have to talk...real...slow. I can't get an AVD to load. I've tried it from Eclipse and from the Android SDK Manager. Failed multiple times. Received the same error each time, "Failed to parse properties from Users/myname/.android/avd/nameIGaveEmulator/config.ini." I've the forum here and saw that others have had similar problems, but of the answers given, no one came back to say if they worked, and I don't see anyone with a similar problem on a Mac. If the path needs to be "changed" what exactly does that mean and how do I go about doing so?

  I have just installed a network simulator program called ns-2 and I am trying to familiarize myself with it by going through the tutorial by Marc Greis. When I get to the stage where I'm messing around with C++ source files and related program C++ source files as stated in http://www.isi.edu/nsnam/ns/tutorial/index.html, I don't know what to do as there are enough inconsistencies between the version of ns-2 that I downloaded (which is the latest stable build) and the guide. I can see that it's a pretty powerful feature that's worth learning. cities = ['Chicago', 'Detroit', 'Atlanta'] airports = ['ORD', 'DTW', 'ATL'] print zip(cities,airports) [('Chicago', 'ORD'), ('Detroit', 'DTW'), ('Atlanta', 'ATL')] How do I use list comprehension so I can get the results as a series of lists within a list, rather than a series of tuples within a list? [['Chicago', 'ORD'], ['Detroit', 'DTW'], ['Atlanta', 'ATL']] (I realize that dictionaries would probably be more appropriate in this situation, but I'm just trying to understand lists a bit better). • How necessary is using PHP filters?

  I'm a relatively newbie to PHP and just making my way through the W3Schools tut. The tut makes a big point of saying you must always filter external data (i.e. cookies, form data etc). I'm writing a fairly simple system that talks with a third party Joomla extension. It's at a prototype stage where I'm just wanting to demonstrate the functionality in a minimum viable product. Basically, I'd like to know... what's the worst that could happen in I don't filter content. Are we talking 'I might get a bunch of spam', or 'a good hacker could get root server access'? Have hunted around online, but would love any of your experience / insight on the matter!

  Hey All Let me explain you the scenario upto now.. Been a newbie to Joomla I managed to build my own website using Joomla CMS in my computers localhost. Then after the completion of the site, I wanted to upload my Local Joomla Site to a GoDaddy Server / Hosting Account.. Thanks to Google I found the below mentioned tutorial, http://zensamarketing.com/2009/07/how-to-use-joomlapack-and-kickstart-to-upload-your-local-joomla-site-to-a-godaddy-server-hosting-account/ So far I completed up to the 7th step, But I'm stuck at the step 08. I'm using Filezilla as my FTP client, Using that I uploaded the files as per the guided on step 07 and when I try to access www.mysitename.com/kickstart.php, it is giving me the below error, Forbidden You don't have permission to access /kickstart.php on this server. Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. How can I set permission... Please explain in a non technical way.. • Approaches for cross server content sharing?

  I've currently been tasked with finding a best solution to serving up content on our new site from another one of our other sites. Several approaches suggested to me, that I've looked into include using SharePoint's Lists Web Service to grab the list through javascript - which results in XSS and is not an option. Another suggestion was to build a server side custom web service and use SharePoint Request Forms to get the information - this is something I've only very briefly looked at. It's been suggested that I try permitting the requesting site in the HTTP headers of the serving site since I have access to both. This ultimately resulted in a semi-working solution that had major security holes. (I had to include username/password in the request to appease AD Authentication). This was done by allowing Access-Control-Allow-Origin: * The most direct approach I could think of was to simply build in the webpart in our new environment to have the authors manually update this content the same as they would on the other site. Are any one of the suggestions here more valid than another? Which would be the best approach? Are there other suggestions I may be overlooking? I'm also not sure if WebCrawling or Content Scrapping really holds water here...

• What is the fastest way to filter a list of strings when making an Intellisense/Autocomplete list?

  Hello everyone, I'm writing an Intellisense/Autocomplete like the one you find in Visual Studio. It's all fine up until when the list contains probably 2000+ items. I'm using a simple LINQ statement for doing the filtering: var filterCollection = from s in listCollection where s.FilterValue.IndexOf(currentWord, StringComparison.OrdinalIgnoreCase) >= 0 orderby s.FilterValue select s; I then assign this collection to a WPF Listbox's ItemSource, and that's the end of it, works fine. Noting that, the Listbox is also virtualised as well, so there will only be at most 7-8 visual elements in memory and in the visual tree. However the caveat right now is that, when the user types extremely fast in the richtextbox, and on every key up I execute the filtering + binding, there's this semi-race condition, or out of sync filtering, like the first key stroke's filtering could still be doing it's filtering or binding work, while the fourth key stroke is also doing the same. I know I could put in a delay before applying the filter, but I'm trying to achieve a seamless filtering much like the one in Visual Studio. I'm not sure where my problem exactly lies, so I'm also attributing it to IndexOf's string operation, or perhaps my list of string's could be optimised in some kind of index, that could speed up searching. Any suggestions of code samples are much welcomed. Thanks.

• c++ std::map question about iterator order

  Hi all, I am a C++ newbie trying to use a map so I can get constant time lookups for the find() method. The problem is that when I use an iterator to go over the elements in the map, elements do not appear in the same order that they were placed in the map. Without maintaining another data structure, is there a way to achieve in order iteration while still retaining the constant time lookup ability? Please let me know. • How do I make PyScript work? Says it cant find python26.dll

  I installed PyScript to try it out but it just wont start. It only gives me the error: "Error126: Could not open Dll "python26.dll" followed by: "Python could not be properly initialized. We must quit." I think this may have something to do with the PYTHONPATH but since I'm a newbie and dont know what it is or exactly what to put in the PYTHONPATH, after some googling, I ask here. Also, when I tried to install wxPython it was impossible becouse the PYTHONPATH could not be found. I have installed ActivePython 2.6 and the PATH is set so I can access python in cmd.

• Adding Categories to my Articles in my Rails app (Small Help)

  I'm currently building a semi-small ruby app for a project. The problem I'm currently facing is the following: I want to be Able to fit the Article into the Categories. I've already accomplish this by having two models. An article model with a foreign key of category_id and my Category model with the name of the category. With a has_one and belogs_to relationship. (We're assuming you can only fit an article into one category). Here's the piece of code. This is the new method, where i create a new article and load up all the categories. def new @article = Article.new @categories = Category.find(:all) end The problem comes when i try to get the category from a combo box in order to insert it along with the article. This is the combo box code : f.select(:category_id,@categories) And this is the create method: def create @category = Category.find(params[:id]) @article = @category.articles.new(params[:article]) if @article.save flash[:notice] = "Article Submitted Sucessfully" redirect_to user_path else render :action = 'new' end end I believe that the problem i have is in this line when i try to load up the selected category "@category = Category.find(params[:id])" because whenever i hardcode the this line into @category = Category.find(1) It Works perfectly

  Hi, I'm a Google App Engine newbie and would be grateful for any help. I have an iPhone app which sources data from an sqlite db stored localling on the device. I'd like to set up a Google App Engine web service which my iPhone client will talk to and check if there is a newer version of the sqlite database it needs to download. So iPhone client hits the web service with some kind of version number/timestamp and if there is a newer file, the App Engine will notify the client and the client will then request the new database to download which the App Engine will serve. Is it possible to set up a web service in Google App Engine to do this? Could anyone point me to any sample code / tutorials please? Many Thanks

• Is it possible to create an Android Service that listens for hardware key presses?

  I'd like to run an Android background service that will act as a keylistener from the home screen or when the phone is asleep. Is this possible? From semi-related examples online, I put together the following service, but get the error, "onKeyDown is undefined for the type Service".   Hi guys, So I'm slowly tackling OO and Zend Framework and their MVC process in particular. I have an existing website and web-based calendar application that was designed by me, but coded by a different person and done procedurally. I understand that it will be very difficult for my application to ever be completely OO without a full re-write, and I'm fine with that. I have a lot of updates and modifications I want to do in the future, so I'm wanting to start replacing some of the basic components (login, authentication. etc) now, and continue to learn as I go. Again, I'm really a newbie at programming and OO. What I'm wondering is if I'm wanting to incorporate the Framework, then would I just first drop my whole site into the /public folder of the Framework and then start pulling functionality out from there?
