  • Do I need to retain Sharepoint usage analysis log files

    - by dunxd
Our Sharepoint installation currently has 30Gb of Usage Analysis Log file - these date back about six months. I have configured Sharepoint to do Usage Analysis Processing every night, so I am wondering whether I need to keep these files for so long. Sharepoint doesn't seem to clean up these files automatically - I think six months ago I had to clear out logs due to disk space issues. So my question is, do I need to retain these files in order to get decent usage analysis reports, or can I delete them as soon as the usage analysis processing has completed?

  • What free expert system can You recommend (with higher functionality then CLIPS)?

    - by Martin
Hi, I'm trying to find best free expert system, with the highest functionality. I know about CLIPS, but is there another system, for example being able to accept percent of confidence for each rule (fuzzy logic). I need it to know will I be able to do fast a short project using expert system, with highest functionality. But anyways, it's interesting is there an open source program that aims to gather different AI methods (whitch there are plenty of), and use them together. So I would be extremely thankeful for any info about more robust CLIPS, or similar programs. Thanks!

  • Filtering Client IP from Access Log for Urchin

    - by Ram Prasad
I have some apache logs to process, and since the webserver behind two levels of reverse proxies, I am getting two IPs in the X-Forwarded-For header.. for example: 208.34.234.55, 127.0.0.1 - - [29/Oct/2009:21:38:13 -0500] "GET /monkey.html HTTP/1.0" 200 20845 0 0 "http://www.monkey.com/" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.15) Gecko/2009101601 Firefox/3.0.15 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)" Now, how do I filter this in Urchin (or remove this in Apache logging) so, 127.0.0.1 is removed from processing. Currently urchin is not able to recognize the multuple IP address so it does not log the remote IP

  • WinXP on VPC - Unable to change the way users log on or off

    - by kamleshrao
On my Win7 computer, I have setup a new Win-XP VPC. In the VPC window, when I click Ctrl+Alt+Del, it shows me Windows Task Manager. As per MS KB [ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/281980 ], we can change this behavior to show the regular Windows Security window. But while making this change, I am getting the following error: User Accounts Fast User Switching cannot be turned off from a remote connection to this computer. Log on to the computer locally to turn off Fast User Switching. OK Is there any way I can fix this setting?

  • A good log file analyzer for windows

    - by Raminder
Is there a text-editor for windows that can open for me first n lines of a large file? It would be nice if it could also open a set of lines from the middle of the file. EDIT: Basically my requirement is that I want to analyze huge(2GB) log files. So any good tool that can open huge files with some analysis capabilities(searching, text highlighting etc.) would be nice. I like notepad++ but it wouldn't open a file even of about 650 MB. P.S. - Open source tools will be preferred.

  • erlang io:format, and a hanging web application

    - by williamstw
While I'm learning a new language, I'll typically put lots of silly println's to see what values are where at specific times. It usually suffices because the languages typically have available a tostring equivalent. In trying that same approach with erlang, my webapp just "hangs" when there's a value attempted to be printed that's not a list. This happens when variable being printed is a tuple instead of a list. There's no error, exception, nothing... just doesn't respond. Now, I'm muddling through by being careful about what I'm writing out and as I learn more, things are getting better. But I wonder, is there a way to more reliably to [blindly] print a value to stdout? Thanks, --tim

  • "Deny log on through Terminal Serivces" insists on "Everyone"

    - by Trueblood
We've got a standalone (non-domain) server where "Deny log on through Terminal Services" contains "Everyone" -- ok, we didn't want that, not sure how it got set, but whatever. We removed it ...and "Everyone" came back. Tried adding "Guest" to the deny list, removing "Everyone" ...which ended up with the setting containing "Everyone, Guest" Clearly there's another setting somewhere that's preempting this one, but it beats me which one. Any ideas? ("Everyone" is being shown as reset upon reloading the Local Security Settings window, so it's possible that it's not actually being changed in the underlying store, and just shows the change in the UI)

  • Log highlighted lines to window in irssi

    - by Sebastian P.
I usually keep an irssi session running on my server at all times. Often times it also takes me quite a while between remembering that I in fact have it running. Therefore I'd like to know if there's an easy way to log all lines that are highlighted to a custom window, such that I later, when I return, can see what people have said that was directed at me. Most useful would of course be if it logged both nickname, time and place (channel, network) of the message. I've been looking around, and haven't managed to get anything working which accomplishes this, so it would be splendid if such a thing existed.

  • Log incoming requests on Ubuntu (ports 80, 443)

    - by Maxim Eliseev
We have Tomcat running on Ubuntu server. It runs a web service, open to the internet. Sometimes it has a sudden spike of traffic and goes down. There is nothing unusual in Tomcat access logs. I guess it is because some of the requests are so 'heavy' that they never finish and hence are not recorded to Tomcat access logs. Is there a way to configure Ubuntu to log incoming requests in the following format (below)? Date, Time, URL (with query string params), IP address (of client) There should be one line per request. Each request should be logged before it is executed. Only incoming requests to ports 80 and 443 should be logged.

  • Mac OS X desktop background gets reset to "Andromeda Galaxy.jpg" when users log out

    - by smokris
I'm running Mac OS 10.6 server, and have a set of 10.6 and 10.7 workstations connected to it for authentication and MCX. Users have network profiles (home folder stored on server, via AFP). When users are logged in, they can change their desktop background. So far so good. However, the next time they log in, their desktop background has been reset to "Andromeda Galaxy.jpg". Though MCX is enabled and used to control other settings, MCX is disabled for the Desktop. What is keeping the users' desktop background from being preserved? How can I fix it?

  • Ping Flooding in router log

    - by Freeman
I've had recently a period of repeated disconnections from my router with connection problems. I checked my router log I found several Ping Flooding entries all originating from the IP 69.171.227.232 which turned out to be one of Facebook IPs! I'm wondering what does that means? Can Facebook chat cause such a condition? My router is DLink dir 600 and the condition that devices were disconnected from router, not router from internet.. Connection is WAN And how to solve this router problem?? My wifi clients were about 3-5 at that time..

  • C++ IO with Hard Drive

    - by Tomas Cokis
I was wondering if there was any kind of portable (Mac&Windows) method of reading and writing to the hard drive which goes beyond iostream.h, in particular features like getting a list of all the files in a folder, moving files around, ect. I was hoping that there would be something like SDL around, but so far I havn't been able to find much. Any ideas??

  • Server Running but unable to log in to it

    - by Funky Si
I have a Windows Server 2003 server that is running sql server. Users can access the databases running on it fine, but I am unable to log on to it by remote desktop or directly at the machine. I am able to view the event logs remotely and I can't see anything that shouts out as being a problem. What options can people think of for regaining access to this server or finding out more information about the problem? I am able to reinstall the operating system but would like to leave that as a last resort.

  • Oracle redo log performance degradation when inserting

    - by Aldarund
I have a oracle 11g database. I'm testing in for inserts. The database running in noarchive mode. I have 3 redo log configured, each 2gb. I'm trying to insert data into test table. At begin it goes fine with 15k ins/second. I make a commit after 200 inserts. But after about 1.3m inserted records it become really slow, about 1-2k ins/second. As i noticed in resource explorer at this point we have filled all redo logs and so the inserts from this points work slow. So my question is why it become so slow when it fills redo logs, even if i commit each 200 records. And how this situation can be fixed ( except the turning off logging completely at inserts)

  • Modify PATH variable for X11 during log-in

    - by user1028435
I am working on some lab computers (read: no administrative rights) that, if I log in, I need to change the PATH variable as X11 starts. The reason is that I need to change the PATH variable at this time, as opposed to later, is that the Print Screen command seems to "bind" during login (forgive my bad explanation of this). Currently, I have a .bashrc script as a workaround: #!/bin/bash export PATH=/home/username/bin:$PATH I can make it work by starting a new X, but I was wondering if it is possible to change upon login. cat /etc/redhat-release tells me my distribution is: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Client release 5.8 (Tikanga)

  • Copying a IO stream results in corruption.

    - by StackedCrooked
I have a small Mongrel webserver that sends the stdout of a process to a http response: response.start(200) do |head, out| head["Content-Type"] = "text/html" status = POpen4::popen4(command) do |stdout, stderr, stdin, pid| stdin.close() FileUtils.copy_stream(stdout, out) FileUtils.copy_stream(stderr, out) puts "Sent response." end end This works well most of the time, but sometimes characters get duplicated. For example this is what I get from the "man ls" command: LS(1) User Commands LS(1) NNAAMMEE ls - list directory contents SSYYNNOOPPSSIISS llss [_O_P_T_I_O_N]... [_F_I_L_E]... DDEESSCCRRIIPPTTIIOONN List information about the FILEs (the current directory by default). Sort entries alphabetically if none of --ccffttuuvvSSUUXX nor ----ssoorrtt. Mandatory arguments to long options are mandatory for short options For some mysterious reason capital letters get duplicated. Can anyone explain what's going on?

  • bat file to disable ethernet adaptor and then reenable it after windows log in

    - by jaslr
When I log into Windows 7 I need to wait 10 seconds and then disable the Local Area Connection (ethernet adaptor) and then reenable it. I have looked through the suggested answer: Enable/disable wireless interface in a bat file but that seems irrelevant as it just toggles the current state. From what I can tell I need to include: netsh interface set interface "Local Area Connection" DISABLED netsh interface set interface "Local Area Connection" ENABLED but I'm unsure of the wait time or how I can have this start after Windows has successfully logged in. What's the best approach here?

  • Very different IO performance in C/C++

    - by Roberto Tirabassi
    Hi all, I'm a new user and my english is not so good so I hope to be clear. We're facing a performance problem using large files (1GB or more) expecially (as it seems) when you try to grow them in size. Anyway... to verify our sensations we tryed the following (on Win 7 64Bit, 4core, 8GB Ram, 32 bit code compiled with VC2008) a) Open an unexisting file. Write it from the beginning up to 1Gb in 1Mb slots. Now you have a 1Gb file. Now randomize 10000 positions within that file, seek to that position and write 50 bytes in each position, no matter what you write. Close the file and look at the results. Time to create the file is quite fast (about 0.3"), time to write 10000 times is fast all the same (about 0.03"). Very good, this is the beginnig. Now try something else... b) Open an unexisting file, seek to 1Gb-1byte and write just 1 byte. Now you have another 1Gb file. Follow the next steps exactly same way of case 'a', close the file and look at the results. Time to create the file is the faster you can imagine (about 0.00009") but write time is something you can't believe.... about 90"!!!!! b.1) Open an unexisting file, don't write any byte. Act as before, ramdomizing, seeking and writing, close the file and look at the result. Time to write is long all the same: about 90"!!!!! Ok... this is quite amazing. But there's more! c) Open again the file you crated in case 'a', don't truncate it... randomize again 10000 positions and act as before. You're fast as before, about 0,03" to write 10000 times. This sounds Ok... try another step. d) Now open the file you created in case 'b', don't truncate it... randomize again 10000 positions and act as before. You're slow again and again, but the time is reduced to... 45"!! Maybe, trying again, the time will reduce. I actually wonder why... Any Idea? The following is part of the code I used to test what I told in previuos cases (you'll have to change someting in order to have a clean compilation, I just cut & paste from some source code, sorry). The sample can read and write, in random, ordered or reverse ordered mode, but write only in random order is the clearest test. We tryed using std::fstream but also using directly CreateFile(), WriteFile() and so on the results are the same (even if std::fstream is actually a little slower). Parameters for case 'a' = -f_tempdir_\casea.dat -n10000 -t -p -w Parameters for case 'b' = -f_tempdir_\caseb.dat -n10000 -t -v -w Parameters for case 'b.1' = -f_tempdir_\caseb.dat -n10000 -t -w Parameters for case 'c' = -f_tempdir_\casea.dat -n10000 -w Parameters for case 'd' = -f_tempdir_\caseb.dat -n10000 -w Run the test (and even others) and see... // iotest.cpp : Defines the entry point for the console application. // #include <windows.h> #include <iostream> #include <set> #include <vector> #include "stdafx.h" double RealTime_Microsecs() { LARGE_INTEGER fr = {0, 0};
