• Why am I getting [mount error(22): Invalid argument] while trying to mount SMB network drive?

  Disclaimer: I am very new to Linux :) Anyway, onward: I have a fresh instance of Ubuntu Server (12.04.1 LTS) running on my network and I want to mount a network drive to the server so I can access the contents. The network drive is a SAMBA compatible drive running Darwin OS. If I run the following command: smbclient -L //192.168.0.2 -U myuser It prompts me for the password and then displays output similar to: Domain=[SERVER01] OS=[Darwin] Server=[@(#)PROGRAM:smbd PROJECT:smbx-105.4.0] Sharename Type Comment --------- ---- ------- Comp Staff's Public Folder Disk CompRaid03 Disk Dropbox Disk Groups Disk IPC$ IPC Public Disk Users Disk compstaff Disk However, when I try and mount the CompRaid03 share, using this command: sudo mount -t cifs //192.168.0.2/CompRaid03 /mnt/myshare -o username=myuser I get the same password prompt, but after putting the correct password in, I received this error: mount error(22): Invalid argument dmesg | tail returns: [23576.037373] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -22 I don't understand what is wrong with this command. I've managed to mount a share on my current (Windows 8) machine using basically the same command but with a different IP address and share name (obviously). I've spent a good few hours trying to solve this and got no where. Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Steve EDIT As suggested I've also trued using "user=" instead of "username=": sudo mount -t cifs //192.168.0.2/CompRaid03 /mnt/svnrepo -o user=myuser This results in the same "Invalid argument" error.

• What tools do I have to disuade users from using the same password with similar systems?

  I'm building a web application that connects to other web services (using strictly anonymous binding, so no user passwords are being used). However the web application maintains its own users itself, and is required to ask certain details such as e-mail addresses and public linking information to these other web services (for example, a username but not a password). I want to deter or prevent users from reusing passwords in my application that they have also used in the applications I'm linking to. For example, if I ask for their e-mail and provide me with their gmail address, I don't want them using their gmail password for my system. Another example would be reusing a password to a linked system in which they also gave me their username. One idea I had was to simply try using the information they gave me, along with the password they are trying to store and log in to these external web applications to test the password - then immediately unbind if I was successful and ask the user to use a different password. However I suspect there is a host of morale and legal issues there. The reason this is a big deal to me is accountability. My application is simply not funded enough to invest properly in security around user passwords. A salted, hashed password in a public SQL-like database is as secure as it gets. So if passwords and linked usernames or e-mails get out, I don't want my userbase compromised.

  Has anyone been able to communicate using WCF on Windows Phone Series 7 emulator? I've been trying for the past two days and it's just happening for me. I can get a normal Silverlight control to work in both Silverlight 3 and Silverlight 4, but not the phone version. • How to read registry correctly for multiple values in c?

  Hi! I created a .dll which should work like the RunAs command. The only difference is, that it should read from registry. My problem is, that i need to reed 3 values from the registry, but i can't. It reads the first, than it fails at the second one (Password) with error code 2, which means "The system cannot find the file specified". If i query only for domain and username then it is ok, if i query only for password then it it still succeeds, but if i want to query all three then it fails. Can someone tell me, what i am doing wrong? • BasicAuthProvider in ServiceStack

  I've got an issue with the BasicAuthProvider in ServiceStack. POST-ing to the CredentialsAuthProvider (/auth/credentials) is working fine. The problem is that when GET-ing (in Chrome): http://foo:pwd@localhost:81/tag/string/list the following is the result Handler for Request not found: Request.HttpMethod: GET Request.HttpMethod: GET Request.PathInfo: /login Request.QueryString: System.Collections.Specialized.NameValueCollection Request.RawUrl: /login?redirect=http%3a%2f%2flocalhost%3a81%2ftag%2fstring%2flist which tells me that it redirected me to /login instead of serving the /tag/... request. I expect this to generate the following single SQL statement (or something similar) select * from Changeset inner join changeEntry on changeset.id = changeEntry.changeset_id inner join repositoryEntity on changeEntry.repositoryentity_id = repositoryentity.id inner join project on repositoryentity.project_id = project.id where project.id = ? Instead, I see many many select statements firing. The data model here looks like this: I would like the full object graph returned from the Select statement in a single trip to the database, which is why I'm explicitly using "fetch" in the hibernate query.   I am getting the below error from VS on an 32-bit XP Professional server even though I set Tools-Options-Database Tools-Data Connections to "SIDEKICK", which is the name of my computer. In other words SIDEKICK should default to the full SQLSERVER. In other words, I want VS to use SQLSERVER instead of SQLSERVER EXPRESS. And I can clearly see my database both from VS in the Server Explorer and also in SSMS 2008. Furthermore, I can view the tables of this database in Server Explorer from VS. I do not get any build errors. And it looks like all of the naming is consistent in my web.config file. I am developing my website according to a Microsoft tutorial, so I should not be getting an error.   I am doing unit testing and I expect that all data committed to the MySQL database will be rolled back... but this isn't the case. The data is being committed, even though my log was showing that the rollback was happening. • A very strange problem related to Flash and Java

  Hello, I have created one simple program for showing webcam of the user. It works absolutely fine when i am running without integrating it in my java web application. But as soon as i copy paste the same files in Netbeans 6.8 and try to run it. My swf file is visible but the buttons in it are totally unclickable. I get the message of allow or deny showing webcam but the buttons are not clickable. It makes my application totally useless. I thought it's a minor issue but now it's getting on my nerves. I am trying it since 3 hours but didn't find any solution. I don't think anybody faced this issue till now that's why can't seem to find any thread in any forum on it in google. I am using Netbeans 6.8, Ubuntu, Glassfish V3 and JSF. Thanks in advance :). UPDATE:- It works fine on Windows XP. Then what can be the problem with Ubuntu? Any kind of permission rights that i need to give? 2nd UPDATE:- I think this is bug with Flash. • Using LINQ to create a simple login

  I'm an C# ASP.NET beginner, so please excuse anything that's... not quite right! In short, I want to create a really basic login system: one which runs through a database and uses sessions so that only logged in users can access certain pages. I know how to do most of that, but I'm stuck with querying data with LINQ on the login page. On the login page, I have a DropDownList to select a username, a Textbox to type in a password and a button to login (I also have a literal for errors). The DropDownList is databound to a datatable called DT_Test. DT_Test contains three columns: UsernameID (int), Username (nchar(30)) and Password (nchar(30)). UsernameID is the primary key. I want to make the button's click event query data from the database with the DropDownList and Textbox, in order to check if the username and password match. But I don't know how to do this...   I think that (the title) is the problem I am having. I set up a MySQL connection, I read an XML file, and then I insert those values into a table by looping through the elements. The problem is, instead of inserting only 1 record, sometimes I insert 2 or 3 or 4. It seems to depend on the previous values I have read. I think I am reinitializing the variables, but I guess I am missing something -- hopefully something simple. Here is my code.   In my model (pins.rb), I have two sorting orders: default_scope order: 'pins.featured DESC' #for adding featured posts to the top of a list default_scope order: 'pins.created_at DESC' #for adding the remaining posts beneath the featured posts This sorting order (above) is how I want my 'pins view' (index.html.erb) to look. Which is just a list of ALL user posts. In my 'users view' (show.html.erb) I am using the same model (pins.rb) to list only current_user pins. HOWEVER, I want to sorting order to ignore the "featured" default scope and only use the second scope: default_scope order: 'pins.created_at DESC' How can I accomplish this?   Hi, I've customised the asp.net login control and it seems to create new accounts fine, but if I duplicate the user id thats already registered or enter an email thats already used, the error messages arn't displaying. Its driving me crazy. The page just refreshes without showing an error.   Using this upload script and it was working ok a week ago but when i checked it today it fails. I have checked writ privileges on the folder and it is set to 777 so don't think that is the problem. • Using BPEL Performance Statistics to Diagnose Performance Bottlenecks

  Tuning performance of Oracle SOA 11G applications could be challenging. Because SOA is a platform for you to build composite applications that connect many applications and "services", when the overall performance is slow, the bottlenecks could be anywhere in the system: the applications/services that SOA connects to, the infrastructure database, or the SOA server itself.How to quickly identify the bottleneck becomes crucial in tuning the overall performance. Fortunately, the BPEL engine in Oracle SOA 11G (and 10G, for that matter) collects BPEL Engine Performance Statistics, which show the latencies of low level BPEL engine activities. The BPEL engine performance statistics can make it a bit easier for you to identify the performance bottleneck. Although the BPEL engine performance statistics are always available, the access to and interpretation of them are somewhat obscure in the early and current (PS5) 11G versions. This blog attempts to offer instructions that help you to enable, retrieve and interpret the performance statistics, before the future versions provides a more pleasant user experience. Overview of BPEL Engine Performance Statistics  SOA BPEL has a feature of collecting some performance statistics and store them in memory. One MBean attribute, StatLastN, configures the size of the memory buffer to store the statistics. This memory buffer is a "moving window", in a way that old statistics will be flushed out by the new if the amount of data exceeds the buffer size. Since the buffer size is limited by StatLastN, impacts of statistics collection on performance is minimal. By default StatLastN=-1, which means no collection of performance data. Once the statistics are collected in the memory buffer, they can be retrieved via another MBean oracle.as.soainfra.bpel:Location=[Server Name],name=BPELEngine,type=BPELEngine.> My friend in Oracle SOA development wrote this simple 'bpelstat' web app that looks up and retrieves the performance data from the MBean and displays it in a human readable form. It does not have beautiful UI but it is fairly useful. Although in Oracle SOA 11.1.1.5 onwards the same statistics can be viewed via a more elegant UI under "request break down" at EM -> SOA Infrastructure -> Service Engines -> BPEL -> Statistics, some unsophisticated minds like mine may still prefer the simplicity of the 'bpelstat' JSP. One thing that simple JSP does do well is that you can save the page and send it to someone to further analyze Follows are the instructions of how to install and invoke the BPEL statistic JSP. My friend in SOA Development will soon blog about interpreting the statistics. Stay tuned. Step1: Enable BPEL Engine Statistics for Each SOA Servers via Enterprise Manager First st you need to set the StatLastN to some number as a way to enable the collection of BPEL Engine Performance Statistics EM Console -> soa-infra(Server Name) -> SOA Infrastructure -> SOA Administration -> BPEL Properties Click on "More BPEL Configuration Properties" Click on attribute "StatLastN", set its value to some integer number. Typically you want to set it 1000 or more. Step 2: Download and Deploy bpelstat.war File to Admin Server, Note: the WAR file contains a JSP that does NOT have any security restriction. You do NOT want to keep in your production server for a long time as it is a security hazard. Deactivate the war once you are done. Download the bpelstat.war to your local PC At WebLogic Console, Go to Deployments -> Install Click on the "upload your file(s)" Click the "Browse" button to upload the deployment to Admin Server Accept the uploaded file as the path, click next Check the default option "Install this deployment as an application" Check "AdminServer" as the target server Finish the rest of the deployment with default settings Console -> Deployments Check the box next to "bpelstat" application Click on the "Start" button. It will change the state of the app from "prepared" to "active" Step 3: Invoke the BPEL Statistic Tool The BPELStat tool merely call the MBean of BPEL server and collects and display the in-memory performance statics. You usually want to do that after some peak loads. Go to http://<admin-server-host>:<admin-server-port>/bpelstat Enter the correct admin hostname, port, username and password Enter the SOA Server Name from which you want to collect the performance statistics. For example, SOA_MS1, etc. Click Submit Keep doing the same for all SOA servers. Step 3: Interpret the BPEL Engine Statistics You will see a few categories of BPEL Statistics from the JSP Page. First it starts with the overall latency of BPEL processes, grouped by synchronous and asynchronous processes. Then it provides the further break down of the measurements through the life time of a BPEL request, which is called the "request break down". 1. Overall latency of BPEL processes The top of the page shows that the elapse time of executing the synchronous process TestSyncBPELProcess from the composite TestComposite averages at about 1543.21ms, while the elapse time of executing the asynchronous process TestAsyncBPELProcess from the composite TestComposite2 averages at about 1765.43ms. The maximum and minimum latency were also shown. Request break down Under the overall latency categorized by synchronous and asynchronous processes is the "Request breakdown". Organized by statistic keys, the Request breakdown gives finer grain performance statistics through the life time of the BPEL requests.It uses indention to show the hierarchy of the statistics. Request breakdown <statistics>     <stats key="eng-composite-request" min="0" max="0" average="0.0" count="0">         <stats key="eng-single-request" min="22" max="606" average="258.43" count="277">             <stats key="populate-context" min="0" max="0" average="0.0" count="248"> Please note that in SOA 11.1.1.6, the statistics under Request breakdown is aggregated together cross all the BPEL processes based on statistic keys. It does not differentiate between BPEL processes. If two BPEL processes happen to have the statistic that share same statistic key, the statistics from two BPEL processes will be aggregated together. Keep this in mind when we go through more details below. 2.1 BPEL process activity latencies A very useful measurement in the Request Breakdown is the performance statistics of the BPEL activities you put in your BPEL processes: Assign, Invoke, Receive, etc. The names of the measurement in the JSP page directly come from the names to assign to each BPEL activity. Example 2: Follows is the measurement of BPEL activity called "InvokeCreditProvider". These activities are not directly tied to a particular BPEL process or process activity, but they are critical factors in the overall engine performance. These activities include the latency of saving asynchronous requests to database, and latency of process dehydration. • Trabajando el redireccionamiento de usuarios/Working with user redirect methods

  La protección de las aplicaciones es un elemento que no se puede dejar por fuera cuando se elabora un sistema. Cada parte o elemento de código que protege nuetra aplicación debe ser cuidadosamente seleccionado y elaborado. Una de las cosas comunes con las que nos topamos en asp.net cuando deseamos trabajar con usuarios, es con la necesidad de poder redireccionarlos a los distintos elementos o páginas dependiendo del rol. Pues precisamente eso es lo que haremos, vamos a trabajar con el Web.config de nuestra aplicación y le añadiremos unas pequeñas líneas de código para lograr dar un poco mas de seguridad al sistema y sobre todo lograr el redireccionamiento. Así que veamos como logramos lo deseado: Como bien sabemos el web.config nos permite manejar muchos elementos dentro de asp.net, muchos de ellos relacionados con la seguridad, asi como tambien nos brinda la posibilidad de poder personalizar los elementos para poder adaptarlo a nuestras necesidades. Así que, basandonos en el principio de que podemos personalizar el web.config, entonces crearemos una sección personalizada, que será la que utilicemos para manejar el redireccionamiento: Nuestro primer paso será ir a nuestro web.config y buscamos las siguientes líneas: <configuration>     <configSections>  </sectionGroup>             </sectionGroup>         </sectionGroup> Y luego de ellas definiremos una nueva sección  <section name="loginRedirectByRole" type="crabit.LoginRedirectByRoleSection" allowLocation="true" allowDefinition="Everywhere" /> El section name corresponde al nombre de nuestra nueva sección Type corresponde al nombre de la clase (que pronto realizaremos) y que será la encargada del Redirect Como estamos trabajando dentro de la seccion de configuración una vez definidad nuestra sección personalizada debemos cerrar esta sección  </configSections> Por lo que nuestro web.config debería lucir de la siguiente forma <configuration>     <configSections>  </sectionGroup>             </sectionGroup>         </sectionGroup> <section name="loginRedirectByRole" type="crabit.LoginRedirectByRoleSection" allowLocation="true" allowDefinition="Everywhere" /> </configSections> Anteriormente definimos nuestra sección, pero esta sería totalmente inútil sin el Metodo que le da vida. En nuestro caso el metodo loginRedirectByRole, este metodo lo definiremos luego del </configSections> último que cerramos: <loginRedirectByRole>     <roleRedirects>       <add role="Administrador" url="~/Admin/Default.aspx" />       <add role="User" url="~/User/Default.aspx" />     </roleRedirects>   </loginRedirectByRole> Como vemos, dentro de nuestro metodo LoginRedirectByRole tenemos el elemento add role. Este elemento será el que posteriormente le indicará a la aplicación hacia donde irá el usuario cuando realice un login correcto. Así que, veamos un poco esta configuración: add role="Administrador" corresponde al nombre del Role que tenemos definidio, pueden existir tantos elementos add role como tengamos definidos en nuestra aplicación. El elemento URL indica la ruta o página a la que será dirigido un usuario una vez logueado y dentro de la aplicación. Como vemos estamos utilizando el ~ para indicar que es una ruta relativa. Con esto hemos terminado la configuración de nuestro web.config, ahora veamos a fondo el código que se encargará de leer estos elementos y de utilziarlos: Para nuestro ejemplo, crearemos una nueva clase denominada LoginRedirectByRoleSection, recordemos que esta clase es la que llamamos en el elemento TYPE definido en la sección de nuestro web.config. • How to make this design closer to proper DDD?

  I've read about DDD for days now and need help with this sample design. All the rules of DDD make me very confused to how I'm supposed to build anything at all when domain objects are not allowed to show methods to the application layer; where else to orchestrate behaviour? Repositories are not allowed to be injected into entities and entities themselves must thus work on state. Then an entity needs to know something else from the domain, but other entity objects are not allowed to be injected either? Some of these things makes sense to me but some don't. I've yet to find good examples of how to build a whole feature as every example is about Orders and Products, repeating the other examples over and over. I learn best by reading examples and have tried to build a feature using the information I've gained about DDD this far. I need your help to point out what I do wrong and how to fix it, most preferably with code as "I would not recomment doing X and Y" is very hard to understand in a context where everything is just vaguely defined already. If I can't inject an entity into another it would be easier to see how to do it properly. In my example there are users and moderators. A moderator can ban users, but with a business rule: only 3 per day.
