    This is just out of curiosity to understand i have a small shell script for ((i = 0; i < 50; i++)) do java -version & done when i run this my CPU usage report by sar is as below 07:51:25 PM CPU %user %nice %system %iowait %steal %idle 07:51:30 PM all 6.98 0.00 1.75 1.00 0.00 90.27 07:51:31 PM all 43.00 0.00 12.00 0.00 0.00 45.00 07:51:32 PM all 86.28 0.00 13.72 0.00 0.00 0.00 07:51:33 PM all 5.25 0.00 1.75 0.50 0.00 92.50 As you can see, on the third line the CPU is at 100% My java version is 1.5.0_22-b03.

    I was just wondering if a storage engine type existed that allowed you to do version control on row level contents. For instance, if I have a simple table with ID, name, value, and ID is the PK, I could see that row 354 started as (354, "zak", "test")v1 then was updated to be (354, "zak", "this is version 2 of the value")v2 , and could see a change history on the row with something like select history (value) where ID = 354. It's kind of an esoteric thing, but it would beat having to keep writing these separate history tables and functions every time a change is made...

  • Polygon area calculation using Latitude and Longitude generated from Cartesian space and a world fil

    Given a series of GPS coordinate pairs, I need to calculate the area of a polygon (n-gon). This is relatively small (not larger than 50,000 sqft). The geocodes are created by applying an affine transform with data from a world file. I have tried to use a two step approach by doing converting the geocodes to cartesian coordinates: double xPos = (lon-lonAnchor)*( Math.toRadians( 6378137 ) )*Math.cos( latAnchor ); double yPos = (lat-latAnchor)*( Math.toRadians( 6378137 ) ); then I use a cross product calculation to determine the area. The issue is that the results are a bit off in accuracy (around 1%). Is there anything I can look into to improve this? Thanks.

  • WinDbg can't find mfc90 version 9.0.30729.4148 symbols on msdl.microsoft.com

    I think the title states my problem fairly well. Where are those mfc symbols? Some background info: I have a crash dump that I want to analyze in WinDbg. My symbol path contains msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols (and it says h t t p first but I'm a new user here so I'm not allowed to write that twice. The 9.0.30729.4148 version seems to be installed by some Windows update When a dump contains an earlier version of mfc90, it is located by WinDbg on the Microsoft symbol server with the same settings. When I use !sym noisy, the output for mfc90.dll contains: SYMSRV: http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols/mfc90.dll/4A596D4939c000/mfc90.dll not found The same thing happens on two different computers Edit: See my comments below. The symbols are present on the server, but WinDbg can't get them.

  • Compiling .NET component that uses a non specific required version of a 3rd Party Vendor component

    If someone were to develop a .NET component that relied on non specific versions of a vendor DLL - let's say it worked with My3rdPartyComponent.dll which is a .NET assembly, but it didn't matter which version. Some instances of classes found in this component would need to be passed into my component. Developers would reference my component dll but not have access to the source code. Basically, I want to be able to require the user to pass in an instance of 3rdPartyComponent.MyClass to my component functions but I do not care if it's version 1.1, 2.2, 2.23.980, etc of the 3rd party dll. Is there a way to do this while still typing the parameter I want to be passed in to my component? I don't want to use Object as the reference. In my component project I could specify SpecificVersion=True on the assembly reference. Will this solve my problem or will there be other 'dll hell' issues to deal with that I am not seeing?

    I am creating an app using the Bespin editor and HTML5's localStorage. It stores all files locally and helps with grammar, uses JSLint and some other parsers for CSS and HTML to aid the user. I want to calculate how much of the localStorage limit has been used and how much there actually is. Is this possible today? I was thinking for not to simply calculate the bits that are stored. But then again I'm not sure what more is there that I can't measure myself.

  • C# DLL reference changes version and becomes unloadable (Plugin-system)

    I will try to keep this as simple as possible. I have a rather simple plugin system that has run into a problem. I have 2 assemblies: Host.exe Plugin.dll Plugin.dll references Host.exe (which contains interfaces and classes that Plugin.dll implement and use). At runtime, Host.exe loads Plugin.dll through reflection and this works great. Except when Host.exe updates and gets a new version number. Then I get an error once I try to load Plugin.dll, saying that Host.exe (with the old version number) can't be found. This means I have to rebuild all plugins every time Host.exe changes build number. Anyone got a solution to this?

  • Maths: Determining angle in 3D space

    I hope this is the proper location to ask this question which is the same as this one, but expressed as pure math instead of graphically (at least I hope I translated the problem to math correctly). Considering: two vectors that are orthogonal: Up (ux, uy, uz) and Look (lx, ly, lz) a plane P which is perpendicular to Look (hence including Up) Y1 which is the projection of Y (vertical axis) along Look onto P Question: what is the value of the angle between Y1 and Up? As mathematicians will agree, this is a very basic question, but I've been scratching my head on walls now for at least two weeks without being able to visualize the solution... maybe now too old for finding solutions to school exercises. I'm looking for the scalar trigonometric solution, not a solution using a matrix. Thanks.

How can I use the paid app as a "license key" to unlock the features in the free app? So the user would install the free app, then install the paid app to get the extra features, but they would still run the free app (which would now be unlocked).     As discussed here, I'm trying to add a WCF endpoint-extension; I've got it working, but I need to include the full assembly details: <extensions> <behaviorExtensions> <add name="protobuf" type="ProtoBuf.ServiceModel.ProtoBehaviorExtension, protobuf-net, Version=1.0.0.275, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=257b51d87d2e4d67"/> </behaviorExtensions> </extensions> What I would like to do (to avoid issues when updating etc, especially for samples) is to include just the names: <add name="protobuf" type="ProtoBuf.ServiceModel.ProtoBehaviorExtension, protobuf-net"/> (which is what you might expect from standard assembly-naming conventions) However, if I do this, I get a big error: Parser Error Message: An error occurred creating the configuration section handler for system.serviceModel/behaviors: Extension element 'protobuf' cannot be added to this element. Verify that the extension is registered in the extension collection at system.serviceModel/extensions/behaviorExtensions. Is it possible (and if so: how) to add an extension without having to specify the assembly-version?

  • PHP / C++ space calculations for parcel packing

    I am working on a shopping cart project which requires a 'postage calculator' based on items that the person has in their cart. Obviously I will be storing the item's dimensions incl. weight and padding in a database and will also store the parcel (box) size and weight that the items will go in to, incl. box padding. Figuring the weight of the parcels will be easy but I was wondering how to go about figuring how to pack the box via PHP, that is, I would like the code to 'play tetris' with the items to make sure they get the best possible fit, giving accurate postage costs. Does anybody have any ideas on how best to achieve this or does anybody know of a PHP Class or function that can do this? EDIT: When I said 'best possible fit' maybe I was being optimistic! Having the script try every possible combination of package distribution within the parcel would be over the top, however I could improve the speed by writing the algoritm in C++ and running the program in PHP when the user 'checks out', the return value being an array with the parcel size and weight (which are all that are needed to calculate postage costs)

My current regex is: Firefox\/[0-9]\.[0-9]\.[0-9] and it returns Firefox/3.5.2 I only want it to return 3.5.2 from the Firefox version, not the other versions in the string. I already know the browser is Firefox.

    I just put my asp .net web service on a remote host. The service accesses an oracle db on my local machine. The service worked fine when it was running on localhost but since moving to a remote hos, I get The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleInit.Initialize() at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection..cctor() --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection..ctor(String connectionString) at.... I know the error is related to the data provider version running on the server/client. In my case, the only dll I referenced in the project was Oracle.DataAccess So how do I go about solving this? Note that I won't be able to change anything on the web host other than my own project. My local machine is running Oracle 11g Thanks.

    Hi, I am trying to compile Webkit on Ubuntu 8.04. But when i run autogen.sh, I get the following error saying it needs a newer version of glib. So what is the safest way to install glib without screwing up the rest of my OS (since the rest needs 2.16 while webkit compile needs 2.21)? checking for GLIB... configure: error: Package requirements (glib-2.0 >= 2.21.3 gobject-2.0 >= 2.0 gthread-2.0 >= 2.0) were not met: Requested 'glib-2.0 >= 2.21.3' but version of GLib is 2.16.6 Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you installed software in a non-standard prefix.     I have an HSV color A at 3/10 of a line and HSV color B at 9/10 of a line. I'm making multistep gradients and for example if I wanted to find the color at 6/10ths of a line, how could I interpolate these HSV colors? I'm firmiliar with the technique for rgb but not HSV. I should also add that my HSV's are integers H(0,360) S(0,100) V(0,100). Thanks
