• Problems crossing the boundary between protected greasemonkey execution space and the unsafeWindow l

  Hi guys. Here is my problem: I've registered some callbacks into a Yahoo event driven webpage (betfair.com market views) and am trapping the betsPlaced events with a handler. So far so simple. Next stage is to get the event back into greasemonkey land, and while I know that from greasemoney space you can call unsafeWindow.stuff, there is no reverse operation (by design). So if I want to send the contents of the event over, say, a cometd queue, my carefully set up jquery, greasemonkey, YUI2, betfair environment fails by telling me that unsafeWindow processes cant call GM_ajax stuff. This is obviously safe and sane, but it basically stops me doing what I want to do. Has anyone tried doing this (ignore the cometd stuff, just general ajax calls) and succeeded? I've had a look at pages like this: http://wiki.greasespot.net/0.7.20080121.0%2B_compatibility but it doesnt appear to work for all the calls.

• Best way to store data for Greasemonkey based crawler?

  I want to crawl a site with Greasemonkey and wonder if there is a better way to temporarily store values than with GM_setValue. What I want to do is crawl my contacts in a social network and extract the Twitter URLs from their profile pages. My current plan is to open each profile in it's own tab, so that it looks more like a normal browsing person (ie css, scrits and images will be loaded by the browser). Then store the Twitter URL with GM_setValue. Once all profile pages have been crawled, create a page using the stored values. I am not so happy with the storage option, though. Maybe there is a better way? I have considered inserting the user profiles into the current page so that I could all process them with the same script instance, but I am not sure if XMLHttpRequest looks indistignuishable from normal user initiated requests.

• removed url from google webmaster tool, now goole don't show my website in search

  I developed the site, and I removed the url from google webmaster tool which was like "http://example.com\". I did this because google show this in search with underconstruction Title, which was my previous page. When i completed the website, i removed the url from there, and added sitemap etc to have new copy of site. Now i see in webmaster tools, that all pages are indexed, but still no success. Yahoo and Bing are showing my page when searched. Help me to fix this problem. Regards, vicky

• Changing the size of the UISearchBar TextField ?

  I have a UITableView with an Index on the side; I want to add a UISearchBar to it, but the index overlaps with the "x" to clear the search. I've noticed in the Contacts application, the textfield within the UISearchBar is resized to accommodate this, but I can't work out how to do this in my own app. I have tried the following in my viewDidLoad, but it does not seem to work. UITextField * textField = (UITextField *)[[self.search subviews] objectAtIndex:0]; CGRect r = textField.frame; [textField setFrame:CGRectMake(r.origin.x, r.origin.y, r.size.height, r.size.width-30)]; Any ideas?

• Geocoding service for a startup?

  I'm working on an idea for a service that uses geocoded data (lat/lng) form a US address. Google maps API v3 has been awesome, until I read the terms of service and acceptable uses a little closer. The problem is that the terms seem to prohibit use of the maps API for any commercial use where the site is not freely accessibly to the public, such as a subscription based service. The alternative offered is Google Maps API Premier, but at $10,000 per year minimum, it's just not possible at this time. Same goes for services offered by Yahoo! and MS - initial fees are small for enterprises, but for a very early stage startup (not even a finished prototype yet!) it's just not doable. Geocoding process needs to be real-time and volume would be very small - user would enter address at setup time and only update it if needed. Any help is greatly appreciated!

  I want to pull feeds for multiple online services (e.g. Tumblr, Google Reader, Delicious) and aggregate them into a single feed to display on my site. I know of services like YQL or Yahoo! Pipes which will combine feeds, but sometimes those services are too slow. I was wondering what the best method would be if I wanted to run this on my own server (using JavaScript or PHP)? • YUI Autocomplete: itemSelectEvent getting lost with IE6 and IE7?

  I'm using YUI Autocomplete (latest version loaded using loader as of today (May 14th, 2010), which looks to be 2.8.1, with the following options: ac = new YAHOO.widget.AutoComplete("mynode", "autocomp_node", ac_ds, {typeAhead: true, forceSelection: true}); ac.itemSelectEvent.subscribe( function(type, args) { alert("hey:" + args[2][1]); $('#parent_id').val(args[2][1]); }); The itemSelectEvent catches selections in AutoComplete and fills in some data on the parent. This works on FF, Chrome, Safari, and IE8. On IE6 and IE7, however, the event never seems to trigger. To replicate: In the autocomplete field, allow it to autofill for you, then hit enter. This should select the autofill and move on to the next field (that's what it does in other browsers). With IE6 and IE7 it seems to instead trigger the form submission - the itemSelectEvent never fires (or perhaps fires after the form submission?). Has anyone seen this? Any work-arounds?

• Where should I put some code for loading application data?

  I have a tab-bar and navigation controller application (like Youtube app or Contacts app). Where is the correct place to have the code for loading some data from the web? These data are necessary for all the tabs of the Tab Controller and the app can't display anything before all data are downloaded and parsed from the app (except a loading indicator view of course). XmlFields (xml) // This field is xml type To create a new contact, I created two classes - one for regular fields and other to display fields from XmlFields field. In Controller, I have following: public ActionResult Create(Contact contact, FormCollection collection) ... Regular field I catch with contact object and those that need to be stored as xml in XmlFields I try to catch with collection object. Problem is that collection object catches all fields, so I wonder if it is possible to isolate xml fields when posting to a specific object so that I can easily manipulate with them. • Recreating iPhone stock application with nested views

  I am trying to create an app similar to the Yahoo Stocks app that comes on the iPhone, with the split-screen interface (table on the top, graph on the bottom). I'm struggling with the view hierarchy. What is the easiest way to implement a split-screen type of application. I basically want two views nested in a parent view. My problem is a little bit more complex because I want functionality like having a uipagecontrol (does this require another viewcontroller, or is simply implemented in the initial view controller)? To what degree do I need to use IB? I would prefer to do this all in Xcode. Thanks in advance!

• Better Alternative to Telerik Draggable Panel ?

  When putting a video in a Telerik Draggable Panel, when dragging the panel, on Firefox the video restart all over again because DOM is reconstructed. They don't seem to have an answer to this. Also we can't seem to be able to control the z-index as it doesn't take into account: when moving the panel over other telerik controls, the video slips under. So any other draggable panel that wouldn't have these annoyances ? Telerik doesn't seem to give any answer so we're afraid we're stuck and we cannot afford to wait longer. Currently think about using Yahoo UI.

  Hi, I'm attempting to set some custom routes in Kohana v2. What I'm looking for is some method that allow the system to : follow a pre-defined name to it's related root; redirect the non-matched url's into another controller; To give you a more clear view over the problem, I want the first url parameter to be associated to certain pages (contacts, home, services, about us, etc), and those urls who doesn't match the previous pages would be routed into a controller called products, in order to determine if the first url parameter regards a product name. • Creating a circually linked list in C#?

  What would be the best way to create a circually linked list in C#. Should I derive it from the LinkedList< T collection? I'm planning on creating a simple address book using this Linked List to store my contacts (it's gonna be a suck-y address book, but I don't care cause I'll be the only one to use it). I mainly just want to create the crucially linked list so that I can use it again in other projects. If you don't think the Linked List is the right way to go let me know which way would be better.

  Hi All, I am building a set of chart displays, one of which is for a month display of daily trading - that is, one point of data per day (closing). Since there is no trade during weekends and holidays, I need to discard these data points. Not only that, but data points should still appear adjacent to each other, regardless of any gaps in time. This can be seen in any such chart e.g. in the 3 month graph for Nasdaq on Yahoo Finance - see how weekends are skipped. My question is: how should one correctly implement this in JFreeChart?
