• Java type for date/time when using Oracle Date with Hibernate

  We have a Oracle Date column. At first in our Java/Hibernate class we were using java.sql.Date. This worked but it didn't seem to store any time information in the database when we save so I changed the Java data type to Timestamp. Now we get this error: springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'org.springframework.dao.an notation.PersistenceExceptionTranslationPostProcessor#0' defined in class path resource [margin-service-domain -config.xml]: Initialization of bean failed; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreatio nException: Error creating bean with name 'sessionFactory' defined in class path resource [m-service-doma in-config.xml]: Invocation of init method failed; nested exception is org.hibernate.HibernateException: Wrong column type: CREATE_TS, expected: timestamp Any ideas on how to map an Oracle Date while retaining the time portion? Update: I can get it to work if I use the Oracle Timestamp data type but I don't want that level of precision ideally. Just want the basic Oracle Date.

  Hi, i am getting an XmlWriter of the AppendChild() method of a xPathNavigator. using (XmlWriter writer = xPathNavigator.AppendChild()) { writer.WriteStartAttribute("name"); writer.WriteEndElement(); } The AppendChild() method returns a instance of XmlWellFormedWriter. I want to avoid linebreaks and spaces in my output xml. But the XmlWriterSettings are readonly and using an wrapper does not help anything. I tried this, but the setting of nether the wrapper nor the writer changes: XmlWriterSettings settings = new XmlWriterSettings(); settings.IndentChars = ""; settings.NewLineChars = ""; using (XmlWriter wrapper = xPathNavigator.AppendChild()) { XmlWriter writer = XmlWriter.Create(writer, settings); writer.WriteStartAttribute("name"); writer.WriteEndElement(); } Does anybody has an idea what todo? • How to honor/inherit user's language settings in WinForm app

  I have worked with globalization settings in the past but not within the .NET environment, which is the topic of this question. What I am seeing is most certainly due to knowledge I have yet to learn so I would appreciate illumination on the following. Setup: My default language setting is English (en-us specifically). I added a second language (Danish) on my development system (WinXP) and then opened the language bar so I could select either at will. I selected Danish on the language bar then opened Notepad and found the language reverted to English on the language bar. I understand that the language setting is per application, so it seemed that Notepad set the default back to English. (I found that strange since Windows and thus Notepad is used all over the world.) Closing Notepad returned the setting on the language bar to Danish. I then launched my open custom WinForm application--which I know does not set the language--and it also reverted from English to Danish when opened, then back to Danish when terminated! Question #1A: How do I get my WinForm application upon launch to inherit the current setting of the language bar? My experiment seems to indicate that each application starts with the system default and requires the user to manually change it once the app is running--this would seem to be a major inconvenience for anyone that wants to work with more than one language! Question #1B: If one must, in fact, set the language manually in a multi-language scenario, how do I change my default system language (e.g. to Danish) so I can test my app's launch in another language? I added a display of the current language in my application for this next experiment. Specifically I set a MouseEnter handler on a label that set its tooltip to CultureInfo.CurrentCulture.Name so each time I mouse over I thought I should see the current language setting. Since setting the language before I launch my app did not work, I launched it then set the language to Danish. I found that some things (like typing in a TextBox) did honor this Danish setting. But mousing over the instrumented label still showed en-us! Question #2A: Why does CultureInfo.CurrentCulture.Name not reflect the change from my language bar while other parts of my app seem to recognize the change? (Trying CultureInfo.CurrentUICulture.Name produced the same result.) Question #2B: Is there an event that fires upon changes on the language bar so I could recognize within my app when the language setting changes?

  I spend a few hours trying to get Twitter integration to work with Spring Social using the XML configuration approach. All the examples I could find on the web (and on stackoverflow) always use the @Config approach as shown in the samples For whatever reason the bean definition to get an instance to the twitter API throws an AOP exception: Caused by: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Cannot create scoped proxy for bean 'scopedTarget.twitter': Target type could not be determined at the time of proxy creation. • Unable to cast lists with Reflection in C#

  I am having a lot of trouble with Reflection in C# at the moment. The app I am writing allows the user to modify the attributes of certain objects using a config file. I want to be able to save the object model (users project) to XML. The function below is called in the middle of a foreach loop, looping through a list of objects that contain all the other objects in the project within them. The idea is, that it works recursively to translate the object model into XML. If an objects attributes are lists, then it should recursively call "ReflectToXML" passing itself in as a parameter, thereby creating the nested structure I require that nicely reflect the object model in memory. The problem I have is with the line List<object> listObjects = (aInfo.GetValue(anObject,null) as List<object>); The cast doesn't work and it just returns null. While debugging I changed the line to object temp = aInfo.GetValue(anObject,null); slapped a breakpoint on it to see what "GetValue" was returning. It returns a "Generic list of objects" Surely I should be able to cast that? The annoying thing is that temp becomes a generic list of objects but because i declared temp as a singular object, I can't loop through it because it has no Enumerator. How can I loop through a list of objects when I only have it as a propertyInfo of a class? I know at this point I will only be saving a list of empty strings out anyway, but thats fine. I would be happy to see the structure save out for now. Thanks in advance

• NHibernate CreateSQLQuery data conversion from bit to boolean error

  Hi, Im being a bit lazy in NHibernate and using Session.CreateSqlQuery(...) instead of doing the whole thing with Lambda's. Anyway what struct me is that there seems to be a problem converting some of the types returned from (in this case the MySQL) DB into native .Net tyes. The query in question looks like this.... IList<Client> allocatableClients = Session.CreateSQLQuery( "select clients.id as Id, clients.name as Name, clients.customercode as CustomerCode, clients.superclient as SuperClient, clients.clienttypeid as ClientType " + ... ... .SetResultTransformer(new NHibernate.Transform.AliasToBeanResultTransformer(typeof(Client))).List<Client>(); The type in the database of SuperClient is a bit(1) and in the Client object the type is a bool. The error received is: System.ArgumentException: Object of type 'System.UInt64' cannot be converted to type 'System.Boolean'. It seems strange that this conversion cannot be completed. Would be greatful for any ideas. Thanks.

• Issues dismissing keyboard conditionally

  I have an app that has a username and password field. I want to validate the input before the the user is allowed to stop editing the field. To do that, I'm using the textFieldShouldEndEditing delegate method. If the input doesn't validate I display a UIAlertView. This approach works as advertised - the user cannot leave the field if the input doesn't validate. To have the done button on the keyboard dismiss the keyboard, I call resignFirstResponder on the textfield. The issue I have is the alert is being called twice. How do I keep the alert from showing twice? edit for clarification What is happening is that the alert appears, then another alert appears. I then have to dismiss both windows to fix the input. First of all, why would I need to put the prefix for the children if the parent already has it. Doesn't the parent namespace dictate the children nodes/attribute namespaces? Secondly, I want to add the prefixes in the above XML as expected, how can I do that with XSL?

The body of the email is stored in a .doc file which begins as Dear Mr. _. The SQL server will read this file, append the last name of the contact in the blank space and send it to the corresponding email address for that last name. Any thoughts on how to proceed with this? I get the message: Secure VPN Connection terminated locally by the Client. Reason 412: The remote peer is no longer responding. I can connect to the other ASA if I use a normal cheap Linksys. • jQuery tools modal overlay display problem in IE6-8

  I'm trying to enable the overlay to be modal. It works perfectly fine in FireFox, but the window object is behind the mask when it becomes modal. This prevents any interaction with it and the page is actually useless. I've tried debugging this for a while and can't figure it out. I have my table like this Product (uuid, Name) and one datagridview to display this information ( dataGridView.DataSouce = Products which is assign on runtime) My problem is that I want to have "No" column on dataGridView which will show like below No | Name 1 | ProdctA 2 | ProductB 3 | ProductC What I do right now is create a "No" field on my product Model, and loop through all the row and assign value to it. • exception with Linq to SQL using sdf file

  Hi, I've set up a project with an SDF local database file and am trying to access it using an LINQ To SQL (".dbml") file. I have used the connection string provided by the sdf file and can instanciate the object with out a problem: thisDataContext = new MyDataContext(GetConnectionString()); However, whenever i try to access any information from it eg var collection = (from MyObject p in thisDataContext.MyTable select p); I get the error - "The table name is not valid. [ Token line number (if known) = 2,Token line offset (if known) = 14,Table name = Person ]" I am using Visual Studio 2008 SP1 .Net 3.5 and SQL 2008 CE. I gather something similar happened for SQL 2005 CE and a Hotfix was released, but i would have thought the fix would have been fixed in this version before release. Does anyone know the fix for this? Thanks
