• What will be correct answer to "why is NoSQL faster than SQL" on interview?

  It's just nonsense for me personally. I can't see any performance boost by using NoSQL instead of SQL. Maybe SQL over NoSQL, yes but not in that way. I think that if I answer "I have no idea" or something like that it will be bad answer because this doesn't really look like a fake-question, it's a serious question on interview but how should be looking correct answer on this question? Or am I missing something about NoSQL?

  i have dell laptops they all have xp-pro on them.what is happening is i have pykaraoke 7.1 on a disk and installed it on a couple of laptops and it works great.the other laptops say pykaraoke bad configeration,reinstall may fix this.i do that and i8t still doesnt work says the same thing.i even copyed the program from a working laptop and that didnt work.it doesnt make cence that it works on some but not the others.

• Why can't Ubuntu find an ext3 filesystem on my hard-drive?

  This question is related to this question: Not enough components to start the RAID array? I'm trying to retrieve data from a "Western Digital MyBook World Edition (white light)" NAS device. This is basically an embedded Linux box with a 1TB HDD in it formatted in ext3. It stopped booting one day for no apparent reason. I have extracted the HDD from the NAS device and installed it in a desktop machine running Ubuntu 10.10 in the hope of accessing the files on the drive. • Is there a good reason I shouldn't use a java applet for a game?

  I want to make a multiplayer browser-based game. The nice thing about using an applet is that I can make the client and the server in the same language (java/closure/scala/etc). I know there's html5 and javascript, but server side javascript isn't as mature as the jvm platform and browser support is still kind of flaky. Applets don't seem to be widely used (except for Runescape), but is there a reason they're unsuitable or is it just because of the bad reputation they developed in their infancy?

• Why are there so many string classes in the face of std::string?

  It seems to me that many bigger C++ libraries end up creating their own string type. In the client code you either have to use the one from the library (QString, CString, fbstring etc., I'm sure anyone can name a few) or keep converting between the standard type and the one the library uses (which most of the time involves at least one copy). So, is there a particular misfeature or something wrong about std::string (just like auto_ptr semantics were bad)? Has it changed in C++11?
