• Float over two elements

  My problem is rather complex to explain, so I'll show you an example: http://ewolf.bplaced.de/misc/float.htm I want to have a floated element (the blue box) to be be placed over two other elements (red and green) and I want the whole thing to be fixed-width and centered (done by the box with the black border) while the background of the red and green box should fill the whole width. I'm actually not quite sure if the way I've done it now is XHTML/CSS valid, but it works - at least in Firefox. In IE6, the green box expands to fit the whole blue box - how can I fix this in IE6 or find another solution to show it correctly in all browsers?

  With jQuery 1.4.2, I can't figure out how to combine has() with :gt. I'd like to select any ul which contains more than 3 lis, so here's what I've tried: $(document).ready(function(){ $("ul.collapse:has(li:gt(2))") .each( function() { $(this).css("border", "solid red 1px"); }); }); This does work with the 1.2.6 jQuery library, but not 1.3.2 or 1.4.2. • IE6 extra padding on bottom

  I have a div tag styled through CSS. I set the padding to 10px (padding:10px), it works just as I wanted in Firefox and IE7, but in IE6 it adds additional padding at the bottom (about 2-3px I think). Anyone has idea about what's happening here? [update] I just noticed this, the div tag I'm talking about has a background-image. When I removed the background-image, the extra padding on the bottom disappears. Any ideas? • How can I add spacing in RelativeLayout

  Hi, I have a Relative Layout. Which has 2 buttons, side by side and it is right-aligned. So this is my layout xml file. My question is there are no spacing between the right-most button and the right border of the RelativeLayout and between the 2 buttons. How can I add that? • Making a jQuery selection in IE on html added via .load()

  Scenario: I am using jQuery to lazy load some html and change the relative href attributes of all the anchors to absolute links. The loading function adds the html in all browsers. The url rewrite function works on the original DOM in all browsers. I would like to center it (together with text label) vertically on the button. 'android:gravity' seems to work only on text label. It does not affect 'drawableTop' positioning. I was able to center it vertically using 'android:paddingTop' - but that does not seem to be a good idea. I guess it would not work properly on different screen resolution/size.

• Finding the centroid of a polygon?

  I have tried: for each vertex, add to total, divide by number of verities to get center. I'v also tried: Find the topmost, bottommost - get midpoint... find leftmost, rightmost, find midpoint. Both of these did not return the perfect center because I'm relying on the center to scale a polygon. I want to scale my polygons so I may put a border around them. What is the best way to find the centroid of a polygon given that the polygon may be concave, convex and have many many sides of various lengths. Thanks

• Odd problem with IE8 and z-index CSS property

  I not been able to put one DIV over his parent DIV in Internet Explorer. With Firefox is working as suposed to. The odd part is that if I open the html file directly in IE, everything works fine. But if I upload to the server and open from there, the div is hidden underneath his parent. I've tried several z-index combinations and none works. It looks good in FireFox, but in the IE8, div 2 is below div 1. I turned the borders on and noticed div2 (violet border) is filling the width of the parent box. In FF, the width is the width of all the content only. If I use a hard coded width (not a good idea), IE8 displays it fine. How can I make IE8 not expand the width of div2 to the right edge of its parent div? IE8 (not good: div2 width is expanded) Firefox (good: width of div2 is not expanded)
