• In Ubuntu 13.10, none of the hotkeys of LibreOffice works in non-English keyboard layout

  In Ubuntu 13.10, the hotkeys/shortcut-keys (Ctrl+b, Ctrl+s etc) in LibreOffice are language dependent and work in English language only. While writing in any other language (i.e. any Cyrillic and/or any Bengali etc) it's impossible to use hotkeys, they just don't do anything. Switching to English input language enable hotkeys once again. This is very frustrating as user needs to switch language to save document, to make it bold, or italic, etc. This was not experienced in Ubuntu 13.04. Steps to reproduce: System Settings Text Entry. Add another keyboard layout beside English [In my case it is Bengali (Probhat)] Now launch Writer. Switch the keyboard layout from English (US) to Bengali (Probhat) by pressing Ctrl+Space. Press Ctrl+B to change font weight to bold. Error: Font weight does not get changed. Expected: Font weight should change to bold. Note: none other system hotkeys work as expected. I.e. Ctrl+s to save, or Ctrl+b to subscript, or Ctrl+i to italic etc. Workaround: The only way is to - change the keyboard layout to English then press desired hotkey then switch keyboard layout back to Bengali. The issue is critical, as it make writer very slow for keyboard-only typing.

• Blank Screen at boot Ubuntu 12.04 - nvidia-current - Macbook Air 3,2

  I've installed nvidia-current using the Additional Drivers application in Ubuntu 12.04. I need those drivers so I can use accelerated WebGL. After installing the drivers, and rebooting X fails to start and I have a frozen system/dark screen. Below is the content of Xorg.0.log How can I fix this problem? • Ubuntu 12.04 OpenCL with Intel and Radeon?

  I want to setup my Ubuntu 12.04 with OpenCL(Open Computing Language) support for i7 2600k and Radeon HD5870. My Monitor is connected to the integrated Graphics of the i7. Intel OpenCL SDK is installed and working. Iteration of avaliable OpenCL devices shows 2 entries for Intel. As recommended I installed AMD APP SDK 2.6 first and then the fglrx driver. I installed fglrx from Ubuntu repositories. This works fine till here. When I run aticonfig --inital -f and restart the system I get into trouble.   I am trying to put some text on a Model and I want it to be dynamic. Did some research and came up with drawing the text on the texture and then set it on the model. • PDF to Image Conversion in Java

  In the past, I created a NetBeans plugin for loading images as slides into NetBeans IDE. That means you had to manually create an image from each slide first. So, this time, I took it a step further. You can choose a PDF file, which is then automatically converted to an image for each page, each of which is presented as a node that can be clicked to open the slide in the main window. As you can see, the remaining problem is font rendering. Currently I'm using PDFBox. Any alternatives that render font better?   Im trying to achieve current page highlights on wordpress similar to this site Alex Soth. I'm very nearly there with my css. At present i have current page highlights on pages, ie. home,calendar, projects. However when it come to current page highlights on child pages i have a problem. the indented child page list appears on hover when selecting a child page, but after page selection the menu reverts back to the standard pages menu with no visible child menus? unlike the link to the Alex Soth site where the extended menu stays and current page is highlighted I know that the answer will be a simple piece of css involving current_page_item and possible position:relative to obtain the menu staying visible after selection. But i can for the life of me work it out. • IIS7 Failure after installing Advanced Logging

  I came across a nasty issue when i installed the Advanced Logging feature for IIS7 via the Web Platform Installer on my Windows 2008 Server.  Basically, after installation and reboot none of my sites were working and returned 503 – Internal Server Error. Snooping around in the Event Viewer i found the following error reported by the W3SVC… The Module DLL C:\Program Files\IIS\Advanced Logging\AdvancedLoggingModule.dll failed to load. The data is the error Even though the DLLs are there, it is not picking them up. • Make Your PC Look Like Windows Phone 7

  Windows Phone 7 offers a unique and exciting UI that displays lots of information efficiently on the screen.  And with a simple Rainmeter theme, you can have the same UI and content directly on your Windows 7 desktop. Turn your Desktop into a Windows Phone 7 lookalike To give your Windows 7 desktop a Windows Phone 7 makeover, first you need to have the free Rainmeter application installed.  If you do not have it installed, download it from the link below and run the setup.  Accept the license agreement, and install it with the default settings. By default Rainmeter will automatically run when you start your computer.  If you do not want this, you can uncheck the box during the setup. Now, download the Omnimo UI theme for Rainmeter (link below).  You will need to unzip the folder first. This theme uses the Segoe UI and the Segoe UI Light font, so Windows Vista users need to install the segoeuil.ttf font first, and XP users need to install both the segoeui.ttf and the segoeuil.ttf font first.  Copy the appropriate fonts to C:\Windows\Fonts, or in Vista double-click on the font and select Install. Now, run the Rainmeter theme setup.  Double-click on the Rainstaller.exe in the Omnimo folder. Click Express install to add the theme and skin to Rainmeter. Click Finish, and by default Rainmeter will open with your new theme. When the new theme opens the first time, you will be asked to read the readme, or simply go to the gallery. When you open the gallery, you can choose from a wide variety of tiles and gadgets to place on your desktop.  You can also choose a different color scheme for your tiles. Once you’re done, click the X in the top right hand corner to close the Gallery.  Welcome to your Windows Phone 7 desktop!  Many of the gadgets are dynamic, and you can change the settings for most of them.  The only thing missing is the transition animations that Windows Phone 7 shows when you launch an application. To make it look even more like Windows Phone 7, you can change your background to black.  This makes the desktop theme really dramatic. And, if you want to add gadgets or change the color scheme, simply click on the + logo on the top. Then join us as we look at the CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre) enhanced version of Internet Explorer 8. Setting CEOP Up We chose to install the whole CEOP pack in order to have access to complete set of CEOP Tools. The install process will be comprised of two parts…it will begin with CEOP branded windows showing the components being installed… Note: The components can be downloaded separately for those who only want certain CEOP components added to their browser. Then it will move to the traditional Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 install windows. One thing that we did notice is that here you will be told that you will need to restart your computer but in other windows a log off/log on process is mentioned. Just to make certain that everything goes smoothly we recommend restarting your computer when the installation process is complete. In the EULA section you can see the versions of Windows that the CEOP Pack works with. Once you get past the traditional Microsoft install windows you will be dropped back into the CEOP branded windows. CEOP in Action After you have restarted your computer and opened Internet Explorer you will notice that your homepage has been changed. When it comes to your children that is not a bad thing in this instance. It will also give you an opportunity to look through the CEOP online resources.
