rename an html page according to an image within it

Hi, firstly I'll give some background regarding the situation. I have a website containing approximately 56k pages each page contain a mapped sketch of a machine part. this machine part is made out of smaller parts which are outlined in the image and hold a certain number. when you hover over the numbers a box with the part item code shows up. I order parts according to this item codes but recently a lot of the items codes have changed, therefore I am looking for a solution. now I own a database with data on all the 56k parts and I want to link the relevant webpage to each record according to the name of the part(a column in my database), the problem is that the webpages names has no logic name that could connect with the part name in any way but the image that is displayed in the page has the exact name of the part. I want to rename all the html files I has according to the Images displayed within them. how can I achieve that without renaming all the 56k pages manually? additionally how can I add the links to all the 56k pages automatically to my database after all the above is done? embed dll in html <object>

I've come across some old code <object id="foo" classid="/location/bar.dll#ProjectName.ClassName" viewastext></object> It doesn't currently work and used to work in older versions of IE. I've never come across embedding a dll in a web page like this. It appears to be a windows .NET application written in C#. This is used on our intranet. And ClassName is of type System.Windows.Forms.UserControl It also seems I can call the C# methods of the UserControl directly through javascript. Does anyone have any documentation on how this works and whether its possible to hack it into firefox. Rewriting the windows control as a web application would be a nightmare. [Edit] It appears to be some kind of activeX / COM thing where in IE you could just port a windows application directly into a html file. It's supposed to be able to run locally if you set up various correctly. If anyone has an idea of what needs to be set up for this to work, that would be nice.

Using JQuery to traverse DOM structure, finding a specific <table> element located after HTML 'comme

I currently have a website source code (no control over the source) which contains certain content that needs to be manipulated. This would be simple on the surface, however there is no unique ID attribute on the tag in question that can uniquely identify it, and therefore allow for further traversal. Here is a snippet of the source code, surrounding the tag in question. ... <td width="100%">  <table border="0" width="100%"> ... Essentially, the HTML comment stuck out as an easy way to gain access to that element. Using the JQuery comment add-on from this question, and some help from snowlord comment below, I have been able to identify the comment and retrieve the following output using the 'dump' extension. $('td').comments().filter(":contains('This table snaps the content columns(one or two)')").dump(); returns; jQuery Object { 0 = DOMElement [ nodeName: DIV nodeValue: null innerHTML: [ 0 = String: This table snaps the content columns(one or two) ] ] } However I am not sure how to traverse to the sibling element in the DOM. This should be simple, but I haven't had much selector experience with JQuery. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I'm converting my static HTML site to a dynamic PHP/XML-driven one. I don't know how to get it to get the info in, I can display a simple XML page, as suggested here: http://www.kirupa.com/web/xml_php_parse_intermediate.htm but I am trying to in PHP get this to display what's in the XML pages or display this output: "Sorry. No schedule page is available" if the XML is blank, as above. Anyone able to help me fix this? I've tried and tried but it's baffling me... Thanks.

Multiple inputs on a single line with Twitter Bootstrap and Simple Form 2.0

I am using simple_form 2.0 with twitter bootstrap. Help with HTML hyperlink please

Hello, Can someone help me with this problem: I have a table in a jsp page, with the text in one column being hyperlinks. Whenever anyone of these hyperlinks is clicked the whole table should refresh and repopulate based on the value of the hyperlink clicked. My problem is currently when the hyperlink is clicked the page refreshes with an empty table. I have the following line of HTML code for performing this in my jsp page: <TD><A href="http://localhost:8080/pmweb/gui.jsp" onclick="getResults(param)">hyperlinktext</A></TD>; Below is my getResults function in javascript in the same JSP page: <script type="text/javascript"> var httpRequest; function getResults(param) { var url = "http://localhost:8080/pmweb/api/GetResultsByParam?param=" + param; httpRequest = new XMLHttpRequest(); httpRequest.open("GET", url, true); httpRequest.onreadystatechange = function() {processRequest(); } ; httpRequest.send(null); } I have verified that the getResults function above is working fine itself. When I debugged it I noticed that this getResults function is not entered when the hyperlink is clicked. Anyone know how to get the hyperlink calling the javascript function properly? Preventing HTML character entities in locale files from getting munged by Rails3 xss protection

We're building an app, our first using Rails 3, and we're having to build I18n in from the outset. Being perfectionists, we want real typography to be used in our views: dashes, curled quotes, ellipses et al. This means in our locales/xx.yml files we have two choices: Use real UTF-8 characters inline. Should work, but hard to type, and scares me due to the amount of software which still does naughty things to unicode. Use HTML character entities (’ — etc). Easier to type, and probably more compatible with misbehaving software. I'd rather take the second option, however the auto-escaping in Rails 3 makes this problematic, as the ampersands in the YAML get auto-converted into character entities themselves, resulting in 'visible' &8217;s in the browser. Obviously this can be worked around by using raw on strings, i.e.: raw t('views.signup.organisation_details') But we're not happy going down the route of globally raw-ing every time we t something as it leaves us open to making an error and producing an XSS hole. We could selectively raw strings which we know contain character entities, but this would be hard to scale, and just feels wrong - besides, a string which contains an entity in one language may not in another. Any suggestions on a clever rails-y way to fix this? Or are we doomed to crap typography, xss holes, hours of wasted effort or all thre?

problem in html, table class text stretching out.

Hey people, I've got a slight problem after weeks of html programming. I've got a large table which I use to construct tabs with, details don't really matter. On every tab there is a tab title (which is defined as one single cell in a table with a class from a .css) and under it there are other rows and columns for the table. sample code for the single table with the single cell in it: <table class='tabcontainer_title'><tr><td class='tabcontainer_title'>TEXT</td></tr></table> This table is again positioned in one cell of the table outside it, which has a different class 'tabcontainer_content' This is in the CSS: .tabcontainer_title{ background-color : #58af34; background-image : url(); text-align : right; vertical-align : top; margin-top : 0px; margin-right : 0px; margin-bottom : 0px; margin-left : 0px; padding-top : 5px; padding-right : 10px; padding-bottom : 5px; padding-left : 0px; font-size : 14px; font-style : normal; color : #000000; } .tabcontainer_content{ width : 100%; font-weight : bolder; background-color : #58af34; color : #000000; padding : 0px; border-collapse : collapse; } The problem I'm experiencing right now is that if there are like 3 rows in the table, which means there's a lot of emtpy space instead of those rows, the text in the tab title has a large margin from the top: but I haven't configured any margin to be present. When the table is full of rows though, hence the table is full, then the tab title holds no unnecessary empty space above the text. What am I missing here?

I have an html table that is populated from a text file, formatted and semi colon separated. I would like the user to have the option of sorting alphabetically with either of the columns when clicking on the column name (header). How do I do this in php?? Aligning decimal points in HTML

I have a table containing decimal numbers in one column. I'm looking to align them in a manner similar to a word processor's "decimal tab" feature, so that all the points sit on a vertical line. I have two possible solutions at the moment but I'm hoping for something better... Solution 1: Split the numbers within the HTML, e.g. <td><div>1234</div><div class='dp'>.5</div></td> with .dp { width: 3em; } (Yes, this solution doesn't quite work as-is. The concept is, however, valid.) Solution 2: I found mention of <COL ALIGN="CHAR" CHAR="."> This is part of HTML4 according to the reference page, but it doesn't work in FF3.5, Safari 4 or IE7, which are the browsers I have to hand. It also has the problem that you can't pull out the numeric formatting to CSS (although, since it's affecting a whole column, I suppose that's not too surprising). Thus, anyone have a better idea?

How to output multicolumn html without "widows"?

I need to output to HTML a list of categorized links in exactly three columns of text. They must be displayed similar to columns in a newspaper or magazine. So, for example, if there are 20 lines total the first and second columns would contain 7 lines and the last column would contain 6. The list must be dynamic; it will be regularly changed. The tricky part is that the links are categorized with a title and this title cannot be a "widow". If you have a page layout background you'll know that this means the titles cannot be displayed at the bottom of the column -- they must have at least one link underneath them, otherwise they should bump to the next column (I know, technically it should be two lines if I were actually doing page layout, but in this case one is acceptable). I'm having a difficult time figuring out how to get this done. Here's an example of what I mean: Shopping Link 3 Link1 Link 1 Link 4 Link2 Link 2 Link 3 Link 3 Cars Link 1 Music Games Link 2 Link 1 Link 1 Link 2 News As you can see, the "News" title is at the bottom of the middle column, and so is a "widow". This is unacceptable. I could bump it to the next column, but that would create an unnecessarily large amount of white space at the bottom of the second column. What needs to happen instead is that the entire list needs to be re-balanced. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for how to accomplish this, or perhaps source code or a plug in. Python is preferable, but any language is fine. I'm just trying to get the general concept down.

How to get multiple html() strings in jQuery

I'm pretty new to jQuery... so far I'm impressed. But I encountered a situation today that is giving me trouble. I want to use .html() to get some raw text and use that in a selector, but that function only returns the first element. In the following structure, how can I get ALL of the "toggle_containerLG" divs to show when I click on the trigger "Some Header"? <h6 class="trigger active">Some Header</h6> <ul> <li><a href="#" class="trigger">Title One</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="trigger">Title Two</a></li> <li><a href="#" class="trigger">Title Three</a></li> </ul> <div class="toggle_containerLG" id='Title_One'></div>  <div class="toggle_containerLG" id='Title_Two'></div> <div class="toggle_containerLG" id='Title_Three'></div> <div class="toggle_containerLG" id='Title_Four'></div>  I can't use $(".toggle_containerLG") because there are others I don't want to expand... I just want the ones listed under "Some Header". Seems like there should be an easy way to do it... and I'm just missing it because I don't know jQuery very well.

So while displaying i.e in XXX.html.erb file i am writting below code. Now problem is @movie.trailer is my variable in ruby code which has URL value . I want the embedded video to load with URL given by this variable value. Prohibit ampersand in Rails form

NOT a Rails 3 issue In a Contact model I have a company_name attribute. For reasons that don't matter to this question, I want to prohibit an ampersand character. We have a lot of clients with ampersands in their company name, and users forget they aren't allowed to use this character. This isn't an html sanitize issue. I don't care about whitespace or CDATA or anything. The entries in this field are plain text and I don't want an ampersand to be entered in this one field in any way, shape or form. I assume a validation on the model is the way to go. I have tried validates_exclusion_of. I have tried validates_format_of. No success. I'm unsophisticated when it comes to regex, so I might be doing things very wrong. But the bottom line is - I need to prevent a user from entering that "&" character in the company_name field. My app uses a StringBuilder to assemble paragraphs of text which are then displayed in a TextView within a ScrollView. For example, to display 50 paragraphs totalling about 50KB of text takes over 5 seconds just to execute those three lines of code. Can anyone suggest how I can speed this up, please?

HTML table with auto-fit for some columns, fixed width for others

I'm trying to create a table adhering to the following requirements: The table width must be defined as 0 - the browser should calculate the width according to the column widths (this is to accommodate a column-resize plugin). Some columns may receive a fixed width (e.g. 50px); Columns that do not receive a fixed width, must auto-fit to the content. I have created a small example to illustrate the problem - as you can see column 3 stays at width 0 and so is not visible. All I'm getting in the column of the database from this text box is "Submit", I'd like to receive whatever is written in the text area. How can I make the value equal whaterever is typed? (Q2) How can I make sure that I'll only store the same type(int,varchar,text) that I setted,declared in the database. For example: age(int), but if someone types "abc" in the input it will be stored in my database as the value 0 . How can I forbid this, and only save the age when it's just int and all the other fields(like name, email) are filled ?. And if is still possible warn the user that he is typing something wrong, don't need to say where. Sorry for any mistake in English and Thanks for the attention.

HTML, CSS: overbar matching square root symbol

Is there a way in HTML and/or CSS to do the following, but then correctly: √¯¯¯¯¯¯φ·(2π−γ) Such that there is an overbar above the expression, which neatly aligns with the √? I know there is the Unicode ¯, that looks like the overbar I need (as used in the above example, though as you can see – it doesn't align well with the root symbol). The solution I'm looking for works at least for one standard font, on most sizes, and all modern browsers. I can't use images; I'd like to have a pure HTML4/CSS way, without client scripting. Here is my current code, thank you Matthew Jones (+1) for the text-decoration: overline! Still some problems <div style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 200%"> <span style="vertical-align: -15%;">√</span><span style="text-decoration: overline;"> x + 1 </span> </div> The line doesn't match the √ because I lowered it with 15% baseline height. Possible to Dynamic Form Generation Using PHP global variables

I am currently a fairly new programmer but am trying to build a registration page for a medical insurance idea we have which captures individual information and subsequent pieces of information about that individual's sub parts. In this case, it is a fight promoter enrolling his 15+ boxers for fight testing services. Right now, I have the site fully laid out to accept 7 fighters worth of information. This is collected during the manager's enrollment. However, each fighter's information is passed and stored in session super globals such as: $_SESSION['F1Firstname']; and $_SESSION['F3SSN3'];. The issue I am running into is this, I want to create a drop down menu selector for the manager to add information for up to 20-30 fighters. Right now I use PHP to state: if ($_SESSION['Num_Fighters'] 6) ... then display the table form fields to collect consumer data. If I have to build hidden elements for 30 fighters AND provide javascript/php validation (yes I am doing both) then I fear the file size for the document will be unnecessarily large for the maanger who only wants to enroll 2 fighters. Can anybody help?

HTML input not working correctly with AJAX update panels used else where on page

I have some update panels on my page that do some asyncpostbacks to keep some dropdownlists correctly populated. My problem is that on my page i have an HTML input that is handling some file uploads. With the AJAX on the page with asyncpostbacks, and while i step through my code behind, the files arent being uploaded. Using a postbacktrigger (non-async) is not possible because of my layout. form submit button moves cutting image

Hi I have a submit button and am styling it using the following css: .subm { background-color:Transparent; background-image:url(Images/Button_Send.png); background-repeat:no-repeat; width:82px; height:30px; display:block; border:none; outline:none; overflow:visible;} .subm:hover { background-color:Transparent; background-image:url(Images/Button_Send_Over.png); background-repeat:no-repeat; width:82px; height:30px; display:block; border:none; outline:none; overflow:visible; } Here is the html: <input type="submit" class="subm" value="" /> Nothing surprising. However, what annoys me is that when the submit button is clicked in IE it moves the image up a couple of pixels cutting them off which makes it look, hmm, good word, 'naff.' How can I compensate or stop this? I have tried expanding the image and leaving a couple of blank pixels at the top but it still does the same thing! Thanks R.
