  • http/html/ajax: show result before site is completely processed

    hi! I am looking for a way to show in a webapp in front of a task a wait-message and after it hide the message. The task is running a longer time. I dont know if it is possible at all. The problem is, so far I can see, that the site will be returned to the users browser AFTER the task is completed because the task is part of the site as a inline code replaces by the webserver interpreter (no matter if php, perl or whatever). The only solution I can imagine is to parallel the task with threads or processes and requery the state with ajax in the website. Any idea to do it less complex? Thanks for help! regards chris

  • weird characters in HTML email

    Hi stackers! I'm reading email from a maildir and some emails have weird sets of characters in them: =3D =09 I think =3D is = and =09 is a space. There are some others, but I'm not sure: =E2 =80 =93 Does anyone know what these are and what encoding issues I'm dealing with here? BTW, I tried fetching these email via POP3 and it's the same thing. The reason I'm posting this on SO is not because I'm using a regular mail client to read the data. I'm reading via PHP out of maildir files. Perhaps a regular email client would detect what encoding this is and deal with it. Thanks!

The problem is it is encoded to display as text on the page instead of being rendered.   • Remove the complete stying of a html button/submit

    Is there a way of completely removing the styling of a button in Internet Explorer. I use a css sprite for my button, and everything looks ok. But when i click the button, it moves to the top a little, it makes it look out of shape. Is there a css click state, or mousedown? I don't know what triggers that state. I know it't not a really big deal, but sometimes it's the small things that matter.

  • BlogEngine - Mangling of HTML Anchor Links in TinyMCE Editor

    When I create the following link: <a href="~/Contact.aspx" runat="server">Contact us</a> The editor strips out the runat attribute, breaking the link. It's also inserting "/page" into the URL which I do not want to happen. Is there some editor setting to prevent this from happening? I've checked here and couldn't find an answer. UPDATE I've added the following to tinyMCE.acsx to allow the addition of the runat attribute to anchor links: tinyMCE.init({ ... extended_valid_elements : "a[href|runat=server]" ... }); This solves the problem with the runat attribute being stripped out. My only remaining problem is the automatic insertion of "page" in the URL. Anybody?

If a String is given, its added as a class to the label. If a Function is given, its called with the label (as a jQuery object) as its only argument. That can be used to add a text like "ok!". Currently I'm only object given to me is the label, and I can only add text to it. Now what I want is to have unique success message. For example: username field will have a success message: 'username okay!' email = 'email seems right' something along those lines, instead of displaying just one generic success message on all the fields. (english.php, spanish.php) The problem I'm having is that if I use the plain text version of eg. "á", it will show up in the browser tab title ok, but as a ? in the body of the page.   • IE6 HTML control wrapping

    Is there any way to prevent wrapping across controls in IE6? For example, I have a label and a single select box. The select box width is dynamic (depending on the content). I want the label to always be to the left of the select box. Right now the problem I am having is the select box drops below the label. I have tried using the <nobr> tag as well as CSS word-wrap rules, but because this isn't text the wrapping rules do not apply. The only way I have found for sure to make it work is to place them in a two-column table, but I do not like this solution. Is there any other way?
