• AJAX CascadingDropdown - Setting the selected index

  I have a CascadingDropDown on an ASP.NET page. Now, the prompt text is "Select State". (list of states). However, on a different version of this page (ie querystring), i might want to set the selected index to "California" for example. How can i do this? The web service used by the ajax control (ie GetStates) gets invoked at the same time the jquery document.ready function is triggered (ie asynchronously). So when i try and set the selected index in jquery, the items are not yet bound. Is there a way to attach a handler to the ajax dropdown so that i can set the selected index once the webservice call has completed, and the items are bound?

• make mongrel_rails (localhost:3000) visible to a virtual machine

  I develop rails in ubuntu and i just set up a virtualbox windows xp virtual machine for IE testing. I'd like to be able to run mongrel_rails in ubuntu and then jump into the vm to check it out, so i can jump back, make a change, jump into the vm again, reload the page and test it, etc. Is this possible? In this sort of situation in the past i've had to set up an apache server on my dev machine and run mongrel under that, in order to get an externally visible (ie visible to my local network) ip address that i then paste into the address bar of IE in the vm. Is this really necessary? Is there a simpler way? Can i do something with my /etc/hosts or sites-available files to just make up some arbitrary network address which points to localhost:3000 in ubuntu? Or something? thanks, max

  I wish to create an Interface to choose Multiple answers using Drag & Drop rather than CheckBox near to the answers. User can choose two types of answers (Real Answer and a Fake Answer). The User has Two Images (for Real & Fake) on the answer page. User can drag an Image and drop near to the selected answer. It is possible to change the selection by moving the "image and drop over some other answer". I have used a "div formatted with an image" near to all answers, so user can drop the image (ie fake or real image) over this "div". I have used JQuery to move the "image" and drop over the "div". Now I need add the code to the "div" (ie container used to hold the image) to identify which "image is placed over it" ie either "fake or real".

• How to change the OSX menubar in wxPython without any opened window?

  I am writing a wxPython application that remains open after closing all of its windows - so you can still drag & drop new files onto the OSX dock icon (I do this with myApp.SetExitOnFrameDelete(False)). Unfortunately if I close all the windows, the OSX menubar will only contain a "Help" menu. I would like to add at least a File/Open menu item, or just keep the menubar of the main window. Is this somehow possible in wxPython? In fact, I would be happy with a non-wxPython hack as well (for example, setting the menu in pyobjc). wxPython development in OSX is such a hack anyway ;)

• How Do I Set XML Content-Type in Flex 3?

  Hi, I've got a Flex 3 project. Flex makes an ExternalCall to some Javascript. The Javascript is then turned into XML. But, my xml isn't parsing in IE. It works in all other browsers. I think that the problem is that I haven't set the XML's content-type and IE doesn't like that. So my code looks like: myReturn = '<myXMLReturn>' + myReturn + '</myXMLReturn>'; myReturn = '<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>' + myReturn; xmlReturn = new XML(myReturn); How would I set: header('Content-type: application/xml'); in Actionscript? • What's the cross-browser way to capture all single clicks on a button?

  What's the best way to execute a function exactly once every time a button is clicked, regardless of click speed and browser? Simply binding a "click" handler works perfectly in all browsers except IE. In IE, when the user clicks too fast, only "dblclick" fires, so the "click" handler is never executed. Other browsers trigger both events so it's not a problem for them. The obvious solution/hack (to me at least) is to attach a dblclick handler in IE that triggers my click handler twice. Another idea is to track clicks myself with mousedown/mouseup, which seems pretty primitive and probably belongs in a framework rather than my application. So, what's the best/usual/right way of handling this? (pure javascript or jQuery preferred)

  Hello I am using will_paginte plugin on two objects on a same page. Like on stackoverflow. There is a profile page on which there is a pagination on two things QUestions and answers. I am having problem ie:-- when user is clicking on questions pagination page 2. answers page are also updating. The reason is both is sending a post variable ie params[:page] How to change this variable so that only one should be updated. and how to maintain that user should not lose the other page. ie he is on 3rd page of questions and 1st page of answers and now he click on 5th page of the questions the result should be 3rd page of questions and 5th page of answers.

  Hi, I'm dealing with a compromised website, in which hackers injected an htaccess instruction to redirect traffic. I can easily locate .htaccess files that contain the forwarding hack, BUT in cases where the directory already contained an htaccess file, they appended the dangerous instructions, so I cannot just deleted any htaccess file or could harm the site by letting formerly pw-protected directories wide open, or urlrewrite instructions (WordPress) be deleted, etc. I could not find the way to locate files that only contain those 4 lines of redirect hack, could you shed some light ? So far, using find . -type f -exec grep -q targetpiratedomain {} \; -exec echo rm {} \; Thanks !

• Entering Complex Data into Access

  Fairly new to Access and trying to do something that seems simple, but may be very complex. I want to create a database of projects, each project has several phases (ie proposal, marketing, etc) and that will allow for multiple employees to work on a single project. Ie Bob and John are working on project number 102. From here, i would like to enter the forecasted start and end dates for each phase of the project, and enter the forecasted number our hours each employee will be allowed to work on that phase of that project ie. Project - Employee - Phase - Start - End - (list weeks) 102 - Bob - Marketing - 12-May-10 - 21-May-10 - 3 - 5 (3 hours first week, 5 hours the second) and so on Basically would all this data be on one table, or several? And can access dynamically show the weeks between the start and end date so that i can input the hours? I feel this database will become severely complicated :S Thanks, J

• How to pass an int value on UIButton click inside UITableView

  So I have a view controller with a single UITableView that shows a string to the user. But I needed a way to have the user select this object by id using a normal UIButton so I added it as a subview and the click event works as expected. The issue is this - how can I pass an int value to this click event? I've tried using attributes of the button like button.tag or button.accessibilityhint without much success. How do the professionals pass an int value like this? Also it's important that I can get the actual [x intValue] from the int later in the process. A while back I thought I could do this with a simple NSLog(@"the actual selected hat was %d", [obj.idValue intValue]); But this doesn't appear to work (any idea how I can pull the actual int value directly from the variable?).   I tried using a free script that I found on the Internet but it is giving me problems with Windows users (even though they are using IE 8, so it's not an option for me to ask them to upgrade their browsers.) Here's the requirements: I have a bunch of Microsoft Word and pdf files that need to be protected so that only authorized users can download them. I have already created the login system and the current script I have works fine for non-IE browsers. However, I keep getting recurring problems with Windows users who keep complaining that their files download corrupt and yet everyone else either using Mac or Linux or any other browser gets on just fine. The script must allow me to store files in a directory but force download of the file upon the function call. Must work well with most major browsers, especially I.E. If you have any practice suggestions or know of any great scripts (even if they are paid, I'm sick of this problem and would probably pay for a paid script) it would be greatly appreciated in advance.

What are these and where are they actually stored (ie. Where is this audit log)? Are these a hint of a problem with connections, because I have only a simple connection string within my app and thought that connections would remain active throughout the operation of my app (ie. a single login at launch, and then a single logout when terminating).

• Inlining an array of non-default constructible objects in a C++ class

  C++ doesn't allow a class containing an array of items that are not default constructible: class Gordian { public: int member; Gordian(int must_have_variable) : member(must_have_variable) {} }; class Knot { Gordian* pointer_array[8]; // Sure, this works. Gordian inlined_array[8]; // Won't compile. Can't be initialized. }; As even beginner C++ users know, the language guarantees that all members are initialized when constructing a class. And it doesn't trust the user to initialize everything in the constructor - one has to provide valid arguments to the constructors of all members before the body of the constructor even starts. Generally, that's a great idea as far as I'm concerned, but I've come across a situation where it would be a lot easier if I could actually have an array of non-default constructible objects. The obvious solution: Have an array of pointers to the objects. This is not optimal in my case, as I am using shared memory. It would force me to do extra allocation from an already contended resource (that is, the shared memory). The entire reason I want to have the array inlined in the object is to reduce the number of allocations. This is a situation where I would be willing to use a hack, even an ugly one, provided it works.   I have installed the Tabular plugin, which works very well for me, as long as there are no complicated regexes involved… But I have this list : one @abc @rstuvw &foo three @defg &bar four @mn @opq &kludge &hack twelve @hijkl &baz &quux I wish to align it that way (on @… first, then on &…) : one @abc @rstuvw &foo three @defg &bar four @mn @opq &kludge &hack twelve @hijkl &baz &quux which means I have 3 problems at the same time : align on the first occurrence of 2 different delimiters (@ and &) which are not really delimiters but "special characters" at the beginning of Words This is far beyond my understanding of both regexes and Tabular.vim How should I proceed ?

• SharePoint Returning a 401.1 for a Specific User/Computer

  We have a SharePoint Services 3.0 site set up supporting about 300 users right now. This report is isolated and has never been duplicated. We have one AD user who cannot log into the SharePoint site with his account from his machine and is subsequently returned a 401.1 error. If any other user tries to log on with their account from his machine, it works okay. If he moves to another machine and logs on, it works okay. The only solution to this point has been to install FireFox on the machine. When he authenticates with FF, everything is okay. Remedies tried so far: Cleared cookies/cache Turned off/on Integrated Windows Authentication in IE Downgraded IE 8 to IE 6 Removed site from Intranet Sites zone Renamed the machine Disjoined/Rejoined Domain

• Problems with viewing site in Internet Exploder

  I built a site and I'm just about finished. It displays properly in all the browsers I have (Safari, Chrome, and Firefox) but my client is not computer savvy at all and still uses Internet Explorer, so that's all he's using to view the site. I don't have IE to test the site so I've been using BrowserStack.com and I see in IE that the site is broken. The navigation bar has a white background and is pushed down a line, and the logo isn't appearing.   Hey All I have a database with around 40 tables and need to rename every index column. IE USER a table has a bunch of fields like user_id | user_username | user_password | etc... I want to rename the ID columns just to id ie id | user_username | user_password | etc... But I keep getting mysql errors on the alter table command ie. • Any alternative to jQuery change() to detect when user selects new file via dialog box in IE8?

  I am unable to detect when input type="file" changes its value after user selects file and the dialog box closes. $('.myInput').change(function(){ alert($(this).val()); }) Above jQuery code works perfectly in all browsers apart from IE. For some reason IE detects the change only after input field loses focus. Is there a way to detect the change immediately after dialog box closes? Or maybe to force input field to lose focus after dialog box closes so IE can detect it? I'm puzzled. Thanks for any help.

• Secure way to run other people code (sandbox) on my server?

Naturally, I want to limit their code access to certain "sandbox" directory, and that they wont be able to connect to other parts of my server (DB, main webserver, etc) Whats the best way to do it? Run VMware/Virtualbox: (+) I guess it's as secure as it gets.. even if someone manage to "hack".. they only hack the guest machine (+) can limit the cpu & memory the process uses (+) easy to setup.. just create the VM (-) harder to "connect" the sandbox directory from the host to the guest (-) wasting extra memory and cpu for managing the VM Run underprivileged user: (+) doesnt waste extra resources (+) sandbox directory is just a plain directory (?) cant limit cpu and memory?
