  • How can I store a useful value in my ASP.NET MVC site's URL and make it propagate?

    Let's say I have a simple ASP.NET MVC site with two views. The views use the following routes: /Foo and /Foo/Bar. Now let's say I want to use the URL to specify (just for the sake of example) the background color of the site. I want my routes to be, for instance, /Blue/Foo or /Green/Foo/Bar. Also, if I call Html.ActionLink from a view, I want the Blue or Green value to propagate. So, e.g., if I call Html.ActionLink("Bar", "Foo") from /Blue/Foo, I want /Blue/Foo/Bar to come back. How best can I do this? (Forgive me if I'm missing an existing post. This is hard for me to articulate concisely, so I'm not quite sure what to search for.)

    Hi,My process have done on before, 1) I developing an application for apple iphone an generating .app file using Ad-Hoc build. 2) My iphone os is 3.1.2 and i developing .ipa file simply drag-and-drop my .app file into iTunes on apple leopard 10.5.8 version. 3) After that this .ipa file again drag-and-drop in windowsXP iTunes. 4) Then sync iphone to iTunes of windowsXP and that .ipa file from iTunes(WindowsXP) in my iphone having version 3.1.2 . The above process i have done, it will fine worked on 3.1.2 but it not working and installing on iphone device 3.1.3 version. How i troubleshoot the above problem.

    I managed to get a unsigned long int octets-representation (BE) by reading IPv4 methods, and I managed to read about how signed integers are using the MSB as the sign indicator, which makes 00 00 00 00 to be 0, while 7F FF FF FF is 2147483647.   • Data storage advice needed: Best way to store location + time data?

    I have a project in mind that will require the majority of queries to be keyed off of lat/long as well as date + time. Initially, I was thinking of a standard RDBMS where lat, long, and the datetime field are properly indexed. Then, I began thinking of a document based system where the document was essentially a timestamp and each document has lat/long with in it. Each document could have n objects associated with it. I'm looking for advice on what would be the best type of storage engine for this sort of thing is - which of the above idea would be better or if there is something else completely that is the ideal solution.   • Is there a standard place to store Spring library jar files?

    I've downloaded Spring 3.0.2 with dependencies and found that it contains 405 jar files. I usually keep third party libraries in a "lib" subdirectory, but there are so many Spring jars that it seems sensible to keep them separately so that they don't swamp the other libraries and to simplify version upgrades. I suspect that I want to keep the full set of libraries in Subversion, but only deploy the subset that is actually used. Do Spring users have a standard way to deal with this problem?

    I have a number of .js files that I would like to be stored in the same directories as their views (they're specific to a view - its simply to keep the javascript separate from the view's HTML) However, adding them to the /Views/ControllerName/ directory wont work because when a request is made to the webserver for the .js file: <script type="text/javascript" src="/Views/ControllerName/myscript.js"></script> It would essentially be directed at the 'Views' controller which obviously doesnt exist.     I have a certain predefined database structure that I am stuck with. The question is whether this structure is OK for ORM or I whether should add a processing layer that would create a more convenient structure every time something is inserted into the original DB. To simplify, here's what it kind of looks like. I have a person table: PersonId Name And I have a properties table: PersonId PropertyType PropertyValue So, for person John Doe... (1, 'John Doe') ...I could have three properties: (1, 'phone', '555-55-55'), (1, 'email', '[email protected]), (1, 'type', 'employee') By using ORM I would like to get a "person" object that would have properties "name", "phone", "email", "type". Can Propel do that? How efficient is it? Is it a better idea to create a table with columns "phone", "email", "type" and fill it automatically as new rows are inserted into the properties table?

    I am building a hash where the keys, associated with scalars, are not necessarily unique. I want the desired behavior to be that if the key is unique, the value is the scalar. If the key is not unique, I want the value to be an array reference of the scalars associated witht the key. Since the hash is built up iteratively, I don't know if the key is unique ahead of time. Right now, I am doing something like this: if(!defined($hash{$key})){ $hash{$key} = $val; } elseif(ref($hash{$key}) ne 'ARRAY'){ my @a; push(@a, $hash{$key}); push(@, $val); $hash{$key} = \@a; } else{ push(@{$hash{$key}}, $val); } Is there a simpler way to do this?

However with large numbers of rows/columns, we are expecting a loss in efficiency. Is there a way to "data bind" from a DataSet object into the worksheet without using the cell-by-cell approach? Most of the methods we have seen at some point revert to the cell-by-cell approach. Thanks for any suggestions.

    I'm building a social networking type site that will be storing large chunks of text that's entered by users, such as blog entries and private messages. As such, these will be entered once, with minimal revisions, but many reads by multiple users over time. I'm using MySQL, by the way. My concerns are: Storing large blocks of text on the database will fill the database to capacity eventually. I read somewhere that storing user text in flat files is a security risk? (The filenames will be generated dynamically by the PHP, not by the user.) Storing them as text files may cause them to become out of sync if I ever have to reinitialize the database and restore it from backups. What are all your thoughts and advice, pros and cons?

  • In Selenium IDE, can I store an element to use in subsequent asserts?

    I've just started using Selenium-IDE (not looked at selenium-RC yet: if somebody tells me that that is the answer to my question I'll look at it) One of the operations I'm testing generates some output in a table in the next HTML page, but the order of the rows is not predictable. I can obviously use 'assertTextPresent', but I want to do a bit more, and check that various bits of text are in the same row. What I would like to be able to do is to identify a tr by some content, and then use that tr in subsequent asserts; something like storeExpression //table[@id='TABLE_6']/td[.='case_1']/.. row assertText ${row} 'Some text' assertText ${row} 'Some other text' to check that 'Some text' and 'Some other text' occur in the same table row as 'case_1'. I haven't got this to work so far, and I'm not sure whether it is possible, or what syntax to use if it is. Has anybody managed to do this?

I'm starting from scratch, what I currently have is a User-class, and a UserController which saves the User object in de DB (through a Service-layer and Dao-layer), basic Spring MVC. I can't use Spring MVC Validation however in our Model-classes, I have to use an XML document so an Admin can change the rules I think I need a pattern which dynamically builds an algorithm based on what is provided by the XML Rules document, but I can't seem to think of anything other than a massive amount of if-statements. I also have nothing for the parsing yet and I'm not sure how I'm gonna (de)couple it from the actual implementation of the validation-process.
