  • What is the holdup on PHP 6?

    I've read in multiple places, including highly recommended PHP books published several years ago, that PHP 6 was just over the horizon, and would fix several of the BIG outstanding issues with PHP (namely unicode support). However, its been several years even since I've read those books, and PHP 6 is still not considered kosher for production use. Is there a specific feature that is proving difficult to implement or is it a simple lack of community desire to develop PHP 6?

  • Java 6 ScriptEngine and JSON.parse problem

    The Rhino release that is included in Java 6 ScriptEngine does not have a JSON parser. I've tried including crockfords JSON2.js in my script on the scriptengine.eval(). When I try to do the JSON.parse, it ends up giving me a script error that .replace is an unknown function. .replace is referenced several places in JSON2, and it works fine inside a browser (IE7, IE8, FF3). Anyone see this and have a suggestion?

    Hi, I am able to display any data (numbers) in Flex AdvancedDataGrid except data with lot of digits after decimal places (0.000000000029103830456733704) or exponential numbers (293E-17). Grid is displaying -17 instead of 293E-17. Is it happening because of any limit to displaying data range in grid? If yes, what is the limit? Thanks in advance ... Atul

  • Having problem with decimal points in MS Excel 2007

    I want to generate a graph with a large decimal number like -106.63633167743683 or 52.132235169410706. But whenever I'm entering the value in Excel sheet it is giving me value like -106.63633167743600 (as I have formatted cell with 15 decimal places). It is replacing the value of last two digits by 0. Can anyone help regarding this please?

  • Question about C behaviour for unsigned integer underflow

    I have read in many places that integer overflow is well-defined in C unlike the signed counterpart. Is underflow the same? For example: unsigned int x = -1; // Does x == UINT_MAX? Thanks. I can't recall where, but i read somewhere that arithmetic on unsigned integral types is modular, so if that were the case then -1 == UINT_MAX mod (UINT_MAX+1).

I'm not put off by the complicated syntax, but where in "traditional commercial programming" would I find places it would make sense to use it instead of a procedural language.     In Excel 2007 it is possible to scale a pictureLink object (created with the Camera Tool) using the following VBA code. With ActiveWorkbook.Sheets(sht).Pictures(name) .ShapeRange.ScaleWidth scaleValue, msoTrue .ShapeRange.ScaleHeight scaleValue, msoTrue .top = top .left = left End With This code places the picture correctly in 2010, but the scaleValue is ignored. The 2010 Excel documentation is patchy on this subject. The same code works fine in Excel 2007.

    I am trying to make one field in a datagrid editable with a numeric stepper. My current attempts look like they are working, but the dataProvider is not actually being changed. Based on what I have read in a billion different places, the syntax should be < mx:DataGridColumn dataField="a" itemRenderer="mx.controls.NumericStepper" rendererIsEditor="true" editorDataField="value" / > I have tried several variations on this theme, and nothing seems to work. What am I missing?

In Drupal (link: admin/build/translate/import) there are several text groups to select. Do I have to repeat update for each group?

    I run a game website so I have many users logged in and they can do certain things once every two minutes. I have a CAPTCHA system in places, and for some things it will always ask for a code, and for other things, it will ask once every 10 minutes. I have had some players use the auto submit feature on Opera, and my CAPTCHA system does stop them. My question is, how can I minimise the amount of times I am asking for a code, but still stop people using this auto-submit?

    Is there any way to automatically wrap comments at the 80-column boundary as you type them? ..or failing that, any way to display a faint line at the coulmn 80 boundary to make wrapping them manually a little easier? Several other IDEs I use have one or other of those functions and it makes writing comments that wrap in sensible places much easier/quicker. [Edit] If (like me) you're using Visual C++ Express, you need to change the VisualStudio part of the key into VCExpress - had me confused for a while there!

The iPhone doesn't provides a keyboard that's specific for this purpose - only a number pad and a keyboard with numbers and symbols. Is there an easy way to use the latter and prevent any non-numeric input from being entered without having to regex the final result? Thanks!

They are always in the 5th field, which I can grab, but they appear at different places within a comma-separated list in the 5th field. Can somebody give me a regex to grab just the email address (delimeted by commas) from a line in this file? By default, this script places executable to /usr/local/bin, and shared library to /usr/local/lib. In this case my program may be executed by any user by typing its name in the command line. Suppose that user selects custom installation directory, like ~/myprogram/. Is it user's responsibility to ensure that my program may be executed, or my installation script must do this?

  • If tables are so evil, why does joomla use tables for its layout?

    When you create a template you don't use tables. but when joomla rendereds the page, there are at least 4 places where tables are used to structure the content. Does this tell you something about tables or the fact that the joomla community should invest more time and learn how to code css or just the fact that tables are needed when you don't know what css is going to be throw in later(which probably means they are of some use)?
