  • PHP scope question

    Hi, I'm trying to look through an array of records (staff members), in this loop, I call a function which returns another array of records (appointments for each staff member). foreach($staffmembers as $staffmember) { $staffmember['appointments'] = get_staffmember_appointments_for_day($staffmember); // print_r($staffmember['appointments'] works fine } This is working OK, however, later on in the script, I need to loop through the records again, this time making use of the appointment arrays, however they are unavailable. foreach ($staffmembers as $staffmember) { //do some other stuff //print_r($staffmember['appointments'] no longer does anything } Normally, I would perform the function from the first loop, within the second, however this loop is already nested within two others, which would cause the same sql query to be run 168 times. Can anyone suggest a workaround? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Hay guys, I'm writing a simple app which logs recipes. I'm working out my models and have stumbled across a problem My Dish models needs to have many Ingredients. This is no problem because i would do something like this ingredients = models.ManyToManyfield(Ingredient) No problems, my dish now can have many ingrendients. However, the problem is that the ingredient needs to come in different quantities. I.E 4 eggs, 7 tablespoons sugar My Ingredient Model is very simple at the moment class Ingredient(models.Model): name = models.TextField(blank=False) slug = models.SlugField(blank=True) How would i go about work out this problem? What fields would i need to add, would i need to use a 'through' attribute on my ManyToManyfield to solve this problem?

  • Multi-threaded downloader in C# question

    Currently I have multi-threaded downloader class that uses HttpWebRequest/Response. All works fine, it's super fast, BUT.. the problem is that the data needs to be streamed while it's downloading to another app. That means that it must be streamed in the right order, the first chunk first, and then the next in the queue. Currently my downloader class is sync and Download() returns byte[]. In my async multi-threaded class I make for example, list with 4 empty elements (for slots) and I pass each index of the slot to each thread using the Download() function. That simulates synchronization, but that's not what I need. How should I do the queue thing, to make sure the data is streamed as soon as the first chunk start downloading.

    Hello everyone- In my C# Console App I'm trying to use Regex to search a string to determine if there is a match or not. Below is my code but it is not quite working right so I will explain further. sSearchString is set to "_One-Call_Pipeline_Locations" and pDS.Name is a filename it is searching against. Using the code below it is set to true for Nevada_One-Call_Pipeline_Locations and Nevada_One-Call_Pipeline_LocationsMAXIMUM. There should be a match for Nevada_One-Call_Pipeline_Locations But Not for Nevada_One-Call_Pipeline_LocationsMAXIMUM. How can I change my code to do this properly?     in my cms i have index.php, where client must enter username and password. if they are correct, he'll moove to admin.php, where the cms is. but now hacker can enter to cms/admin.php, so my security now is awful. i know, that i can use $_SESSION variable. index.php - i can give some value to $_SESSION['success']: $_SESSION['success'] = TRUE, and in admin.php just verify it admin.php if($_SESSION['success'] == TRUE) { my script here... } else header("Location: index.php"); but i want to rich this effect without SESSION. could you give me an idea, how can i do it? thanks

  • Django design question: extending User to make users that can't log in

    The site I'm working on involves teachers creating student objects. The teacher can choose to make it possible for a student to log into the site (to check calendars, etc) OR the teacher can choose to use the student object only for record keeping and not allow the student to log in. In the student creation form, if the teacher supplies a username and a password, it should create an object of the first kind - one that can log in, i.e. a regular User object. If the teacher does not supply a username/password, it should create the second type. The other requirement is that the teacher should be able to go in later and change a non-logging-in student to the other kind. What's the best way to design for this scenario? Subclass User and make username and password not required? What else would this affect?

    In a recent interview I was asked what the difference between .Any() and .Length > 0 was and why I would use either when testing to see if a collection had elements. This threw me a little as it seems a little obvious but feel I may be missing something. I suggested that you use .Length when you simply need to know that a collection has elements and .Any() when you wish to filter the results. Presumably .Any() takes a performance hit too as it has to do a loop / query internally.
