  • Code refactoring c# question around several if statements performing the same check

    I have a method that has a load of if statements that seems a bit silly although I'm not sure how to improve the code. Here's an example. This logic was inside the view which is now in the controller which is far better but is there something I'm missing, maybe a design pattern that stops me having to check against panelCount < NumberOfPanelsToShow and handling the panelCount every condition? Maybe not, just feels ugly!     i have following problem from book introduction algorithm second edition by MIT university problem is following An array A[1 . . n] contains all the integers from 0 to n except one. It would be easy to determine the missing integer in O(n) time by using an auxiliary array B[0 . . n] to record which numbers appear in A. In this problem, however, we cannot access an entire integer in A with a single operation. The elements of A are represented in binary, and the only operation we can use to access them is “fetch the j th bit of A[i],” which takes constant time. Show that if we use only this operation, we can still determine the missing inte- ger in O(n) time please help

  • Question about CALL statement

    I have the following code in VC++ Func5(){ StackWalk(); } Func4{ Func5();} I am a Beginner in x86 Assembly Language. I am trying to find out the starting address of Func5(). I get the Func5()'s return address from its stack frame. Now before this return address there should be a CALL statement. So I extract out the bytes before the return address. Sometimes it's a near call like E8 ff ff ff d8. So for this statement I subtract the offset 0x28 from the function's return address to get Func5()'s base address (where it resides in memory). The problem is I don't know how to calculate this for a indirect NEAR call. I have been trying to find out how to do it for some time now. So I have extracted out the first 5 bytes before the return address and they are ff 75 08 ff d2 I think this stands for CALL ECX (ff d2) but I am not sure. I will be very grateful if someone can tell me what kind of CALL statement this is and how I can calculate the function's base address from this kind of call.

I am trying to create a method that returns the specified property of a generic object e.g. public object getValue<TModel>(TModel item, string propertyName) where TModel : class{ PropertyInfo p = typeof(TModel).GetProperty(propertyName); return p.GetValue(item, null); } The code above works fine if you're looking for a property on the TModel item e.g. string customerName = getValue<Customer>(customer, "name"); However, if you want to find out what the customer's group's name is, it becomes a problem: e.g. string customerGroupName = getValue<Customer>(customer, "Group.name"); Hoping someone can give me some insight on this way out scenario - thanks.

    Hi there everyone! I'm making a Pygame of, basically, "Breakout". I'm using collisions, and want a simple way to have different bounce effects of the different sides of one rectangle. What I currently have for the ball-to-bat collision is this: "dot" = ball; "bat" = bat; so you all understand. if dot.rect.colliderect(bat.rect):<br> dot.dy *= -1 I'd like something that interacts with each side, so could reverse the self.dx value of the ball when it hits the side of the bat, and only reversing the self.dy value when it strikes the top.   • Watir question regarding select_list and reloading

    I have a drop down with multiple options. Whenever you choose an option, the page reloads with data specific with that option. Currently I'm using select.list(:name, strg).set(value) and it does that part just fine, but it does not reload the page with the specific data. Anyone know how to help. When i watch it in action, it doesn't select the option either, but my logs show that it does.Thanks.

However,this representation is hugely different from what I use "view page source" in my Firefox,and since I need to scrape data from the original webpage(some data segement in the original "view page source" file),it will always fail to find required text on this Java representation. Did I go wrong somewhere?I need your advice guys,thanks a lot for helping!

    Hello all, complete newbie here, I need to find a way to store 250 KB of plain text numbers inside my program's executable file. Usually, I would put the data in a separate file and let the program read it while it is running, but that's not an option here. Instead, the program and the data need to be in one executable file. I have absolutely no idea how to do it (except writing 250.000 #defines :-) and I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thank you very much!

    So, I am able to create an array that populates the fields of the Table, but am having troubles creating the subtext that appears below the main fields. I currently have: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; listOfForms = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; [listOfForms addObject:@"First Form"]; } and then: NSString *cellValue = [listOfDAForms objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.textLabel.text = cellValue; in the cellForRowAtIndexPath portion. Why can't I add: listOfNames = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; [listOfNames addObject:@"Named Form"]; and NSString *cellSubscript = [listOfNames objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.detailTextLabel.text = cellSubscript; in order to make the little subview work? What am I doing wrong?

    Hi Experts, I have a tables with data like this Id BookId TagId 34 113421 9 35 113421 10 36 113421 11 37 113421 1 38 113422 9 39 113422 1 40 113422 12 I need to write a query (SQL Server) which gives me data according to the tags say if I want bookIds where tagid =9 it should return bookid 113421 and 113422 as it exists in both the books, but If I ask data for tags 9 and 10 it should return only book 113421 as that is the only book where both the tags are present.   • Simple iPhone tally method question

    Just trying to create a simple method that counts up 1 on the tally when the button is pressed. My knowledge is extremely limited and I am pretty sure that my problem is somewhere in the method implementation: -(IBAction) updateTally:(id) sender { NSString *text; int total = 0; total = total + 1; text=[[NSString alloc] initWithFormat: @"%i", total]; lblTally.text = text; } I have done the necessary interface declarations for the lblTally UILabel and the updateTally method. I suspect that there is some sort of an NSString/int/%i/%@ mixup that I am making but I'm not sure how to fix it. When I run the program as it currently is it displays a 0 in the lblTally label field on the iphone. When I press the button it then displays a 1 in that field. However, if I continue to press the button - nothing happens.

    Hello, I have the following query: SELECT Base.ReportDate, Base.PropertyCode, Base.FirstName, Base.MiddleName, Base.LastName, Person.FirstName, Person.MiddleName, Person.LastName FROM LeaseT INNER JOIN Base ON LeaseT.LeaseID = Base.LeaseID INNER JOIN Person ON LeaseT.TenantID = Person.ID works fine, except there could be 0 to 'N' people in the 'Person' table for each record in the Base table, but I only want to return exactly 1 for each 'Base' record (doesn't matter which, but the one with the lowest Person.ID) would be a reasonable choice. If there is 0 rows in the person table, I still need to return the row, but with null values for the 'person' fields. How would I structure the SQL to do that? Thanks. Edit: Yes, the tables are probably not structured properly, but restructuring at this time is not possible - got to work with what is there.

  • Textmate newbie question: how to indent CSS

    New to TextMate and can't find the answer in the documentation. I've saved an empty file as CSS and the 'active bundle' is showing as CSS, at the bottom of the screen. I've then pasted in a bunch of CSS from elsewhere (a minified page). However, it's all pasted in as a single line. How can I indent it to look like 'proper' CSS, using TextMate? Text + Indent just indents the whole line by a single tab. thanks!
