  • Handling static files with Django / lighttpd

    I know that there is already a question (actually some more) about this, but the answers to them didn't help me out very much, as I am pretty new to lighttpd. I have one folder which contains .pdf-files. When doing a HttpResponseRedirect to the locations of one of those .pdf-files, the user should be able to download the .pdf file (or view it in the browser). Right now, Django just redirects to my "home" html page, without showing any pdf-file. Somehow, I will have to tell lighttpd that Django shouldn't handle this directory anymore. Is this the only thing I need to do? If yes, how should i do it?

  • Using a dropdown on a static webpage as a DataSource in C#.net

    I know this is a terrible way of doing things, but it's for an internal app where security is no issue. Basically, an old group created a php page with a drop down and this drop down is populated with entries from a DB. The DB owner is currently absent and for the sake of time, I would just need something that turns the entries in that drop down, always at the same url with the same ID every load into a List. Is there a quick, painless way to do this in .NET?

  • Creating a "Universities Attended" Profile field/block (Drupal)

    Interesting question for everyone. So I have am thinking of adding a "university attended" field to the profile page of members in Drupal. I guess I am trying to figure out the best way to go about it. I was originally thinking of a text field, but than I thought you could get multiple instances of of university names, making it hard to sort people by school (ie. UF, University of Florida, Florida, U of F, etc). I then began to think about creating a drop down, but I wasn't quite sure where I could get a listing of all the schools. Perhaps I could find a database population that a site like LinkedIn or Facebook uses. Then I thought of what happens when someone has attended multiple schools, how would I account for that? So, I guess I wanted to pose the question of how would you go about adding a University(ies) attended field to profile pages if you had to design a site to do so?

    I've been searching the net for several hours and can't find an answer in the whole "external js file"-jungle. I hope you guys can help! In short: My external javascript file doesn't seem to get the variables which I defined in the main.php file..   • how do you release code like a static library in windows

    I had a question with regards doing an official release of code. Its my first time using VS2008 so bear with me. I have my header file that has the api's which grant them access to the lib. now there is a debug and a release version that is talked about. how do i give these to my client? do i need to give them both folders or just the lib file along with the header file for that lib. The lib is ready for use directly. but i am a little confused between debug vs release. thanks

I have a "partner" node that has many "docs", I want to list the name of the "partner" along with its corresponding "docs" below. I have the relationship set up correctly(I think) but can't figure out how or where to group it correctly.   • How to parse multiple dates from a block of text in Python (or another language)

    I have a string that has several date values in it, and I want to parse them all out. The string is natural language, so the best thing I've found so far is dateutil. Ideally, a list would be created, but I can handle that myself if I need to. I'm using Python, but at this point, other languages are probably OK, if they get the job done. PS - I guess I could recursively split the input file in the middle and try, try again until it works, but it's a hell of a hack.

    I have a list which is reordered using sortable. I defined a trash can div, and I want to achieve that when the blocks are dropped on this div to get deleted. So far I can't seam to fine the way to fire the drop event, when I release the item gets back to his previous position. So I can do the following in GDB: (gdb) po [LoginManager sharedSession].loginToken 20D52FE9-3573-437E-9A65-846572B63726 However, I have another Service class, which is currently not loaded so I get the following error: (gdb) po [SessionService displaySessionInfoForToken:@"XXX"] No symbol "SessionService" in current context. I don't understand why the LoginManager can be loaded but not the SessionService.

    It has come to my attention that a user has been trying to create an exploit through avatar image uploads. This was discovered when a user reported to me that they were getting a notice from their Norton Anti-virus saying "HTTP Suspicious Executable Image Download." This warning was referencing the user's avatar image. I don't think they had actually achieved anything in the way of stealing information or anything like that, but I assume it could be possible if the hole is left open long enough. I use PHP to upload the image files, and I check if the file being uploaded is a png, jpg, or gif.
