• How can I mount .IMG floppy disk images which are not 1.44MB or any other floppy format?

  I have several .IMG files, but they are different sizes which do not comform to any floppy disk format, i.e. not 1.44MB, 720K, 2.88MB... these .IMG files are like 420K, 832K, etc. Additional info: Winimage, rar, Magic ISO... none of these worked. The files I want to download are located in www.vetusware.com under DBMSOracle6. They are 2 files in rar format, but when I extract the rar's, I get forty-two .IMG files with varied sizes, not 1.44MB, etc. If anyone could please give it a try and succeed in mounting or reading the extractd IMG files, I would appreciate you letting me know how you achieved it, I really need this legacy Oracle 6/DOS version!.. • Monitor Processes' Memory Usage

  We have an IBM P series box running AIX 5.3. This is our application server, whereby our J2EE application is running in Oracle's Applications Server (version 10g r2). At around 11pm till the next day 7am, we have shell scripts running, which executes Java class programs. Recently, this server has been experiencing some high memory usage, which caused some of the Java class programs throwing "Out of memory" exception . We normally use NMON to monitor the server's resources, such as CPU, I/O, memory, etc. But because of this OOM issue, we would like to know throughout the day, what are the processes which are running and how much memory each process consumed. NMON is not able to show this. Even with the "-T" parameter, it only shows the top processes and not all. Is there any thing we can use to monitor all the processes' memory?

• Book recommendation for learning server management and Apache

  Hello, I'm currently managing a site that I feel could be optimized and utilized to be much faster, however, I'm having difficulty finding reliable information to do it. I find the Apache documentation to be a hard read, and too technical about things I don't have a strong grasp on. I'm just looking for a good beginner/intermediate book about server administration to learn as much as possible about Apache, as well as how to create a nice secure, robust server that doesn't crash at the first hint of unusual traffic surges. • Gain Access to a Facebook account using an email I no longer have access to

  Trying to regain access to a Facebook account I haven't used in years which was set up while I was in school with my school email account, which no longer exists. Don't know the password to the Facebook account. I went here and made a request. Got an email within minutes and and replied to it. That was over week ago. Anyone gone through this before? How long did it take? Any way to expedite the process? Any alternate way to contact Facebook team and get some help with this?

  I am not sure if this is the appropriate place to to discuss this issue but I am a Magento developer and ever since they announced they were going to build magento as a PAAS platform, I began to not trust where they are trying to go with the company. As a business I respect where they are trying to go as a company, but as a developer who highly depends on their platform for my business, I feel that they will eventually become a player in their own game. Ebay has announced that they will be acquiring the license to the magento platform and this makes you wonder why a company like eBay would want to do such a thing. Ebay is known for their pre-built stores. it would seem they would only team with magento only to utilize their PAAS web stores. I dunno, maybe I am a little confused about the whole situation. that's why i would like to hear everyone else opinion.

• Overwrite SOA expiry in a bind9 slave name server.

  I run a slave name server of a domain that I do not have full control over (i.e. changing the SOA is not possibly). The SOA specifies an expiry time of one week. For various reasons, I’d like to override that value on my specific slave server to something larger. Is there a way to do that? N.B: I know that for the refresh and retry fields, bind9 provides the options min-refresh-time, max-refresh-time, min-retry-time and max-retry-time to overrule the SOA, as mentioned in the documentation. For some reason this just does not inclucde expiry.

• Change install path to /usr/bin instead of /usr/local/bin

  A simple question, but I have no concrete documentation to confirm my answer. When installing software with the make install command under a unix machine, the default path is going over to /usr/local/bin. I would like to update a package system-wide under /usr/bin. How (and where) do I change the command under make or make install to /usr/bin? Also - Can the package remain on /usr/local/bin but the systemwide usage of Python (the update being installed) be changed to /usr/local/bin from /usr/bin to avoid modifying the original installed version ?

• Google Apps for Business on a separate infrastructure?

  Does anyone know if Google Apps for Business edition hosts the apps (gmail, calendar, etc.) on a physically separate infrastructure than the Standard (free) infrastructure? We've been growing increasingly annoyed with the lost/severely delayed email messages, downtime, etc. of Google Apps (standard) over time, and we are wondering if moving to the paid version would bring any benefits. Specifically, if the Business edition is not in some way on a different physical infrastructure, and we are in essence paying for a few small perks but still run on the usual standard/free setup, then we would probably have the same (or just as many) issues with the Business version. I've emailed Google's sales team responsible for GApps, but haven't heard anything back in 4 days, which already doesn't speak well for the service. So, anyone have any insight into this?   Hello, How can I set the path on which Redmine should be run, e.g. example.com:3000/redmine instead of example.com:3000? There is an appropriately named option in the settings panel, but it serves a different purpose, according to the documentation and experimental observations (it is used to write URL in emails sent to users). A wider picture: I need this in order to properly serve Redmine on port 80 over Apache's mod_proxy (i.e. at example.com/redmine). The problem is that when running it on /, the home page fails to load the necessary resources (such as JavaScript and CSS files). Any workarounds?

• Host not visible in ECC after pushing master agent on server

  Hi all!! ECC master Agent has been pushed to one of the servers.. Once a Master Agent installed the host should appear within ECC.However, I am unable to see the host. I asked the Server team to stop and start the master agent ,and to check whether required port is enabled, so that server can talk with ECC server. After restarting the service I get an error.I even checked if the port is used by any other service ,it is not.. Somebody plz help what should done here..it’s a Windows server. Here's the error:- "The EMC control Center Master agent service on local computer atrted and the stopped.Some services stopped automatically if they 've no work to do,for example prformance logs and alert services" Thanks in advance!!

• Samba Server needs to have AD authentication

  My Linux server is connected to AD via Bind DN and password (without domain joining). It is using sssd for authentication. I am able to ssh and login without any issue. I have a proper setup of uid and guid, etc. .. There is no issue with logging to the linux server. I want the samba service to use AD accounts, but I can't find documentation for how to configure it in this case. Can anyone explain how to configure samba to use active directory for authentication on a system using sssd?

• Search /usr/local/texlive directory with Spotlight

  Having TeXLive installed on my Mac, I frequently need to consult documentation for some of the packages. It seems silly to Google this when I have the PDFs all on my HDD in /usr/local/texlive/2011/texmf-dist/doc , so I want to be able to use Spotlight to search for them. However, I can't get Spotlight to cooperate. I tried mdimport /usr/local/texlive/2011/texmf-dist/doc which then does some work, but afterwards doesn't display any results in Spotlight. I've also added the folder in Alfred's search scope to no avail. Any ideas?

• Exim: How to turn off DKIM for forwarded mail?

  I have DKIM configured in Exim for outgoing mail, as per the documentation. Exim signs all outgoing mail. But some of that outgoing mail is forwarded, thanks to a users .forward file. This is a problem for me, because some of those messages are spam (my exim configuration does not do any verification) and I don't want to take responsibility for them. But I can't figure out how to configure Exim not to sign these messages. My configuration is basically the Debian Squeeze default, with a few DKIM_* macros set. I can post more details, but I think seeing any example of conditional DKIM signing would set me right.

• Cmd+Less Than (10.8.2) not working after Xcode (4.5.x) installed

  I had to reinstall my MBP recently. I stress Cmd+Less Than a lot for switching between Xcode's main window and the Organizer for documentation. The standard OSX-shortcut for doing that is Cmd + Less Than. After installing Xcode it didn't work any longer. I saw, that Xcode uses Cmd+LT for "Edit Schemes", a rarely used option. Even after deleting the shortcut for "Edit Schemes" in Xcode, Cmd+LT didn't work. How can I get Cmd + Less Than to work again? Mac OS X Mount Lion 10.8.2 Xcode 4.5.2 I have less than 10 reputation on superuser (acutally first post here), so I can't post the answer to my question. Would yo be so kind and upvote this question, so I can officially answer the question? The question, as well as the answer is only correct, if you use German keyboard layout.

• Private key authentication with pam_ldap

  I'd like to set up pam_ldap on some of our servers so that we can centrally manage who has access to which server, and easily revoke access if e.g. someone leaves the company. I've done some research and got this working. Hooray! However I'd also like to be able to use public-private key logins - i.e. allow users to store their public keys in the LDAP directory and have these work for logins too. I can't find any documentation about being able to do this, but I also can't find any reasons that it shouldn't be possible. Is there a way to do it, or is there some fundamental reason that it won't work?

• How do MaxSpareServers work in Apache?

  I've scoured the web but I can't find out what MaxSpareServers are in Apache MPM prefork.. The MaxSpareServers directive sets the desired maximum number of idle child server processes. An idle process is one which is not handling a request. If there are more than MaxSpareServers idle, then the parent process will kill off the excess processes. Great, but what causes a spareserver to be created? More importantly, when does a spare server go away? I understand that minspareservers are created gradually after the server is started.. How do maxspareservers relate to maxclients? Basically I'm at a bit of a loss on how best to configure Apache.. there's a lot of documentation out there but it isn't that clear. Thanks, John.

• disable RADIUS for Cisco 2500 wireless controller

  I have a Cisco 2500 wireless controller and four lightweight access points. I want to use the controller to manage a wireless network secured by WPA only, without using RADIUS or anything else. We'll handle the authentication using a captive portal behind the access points. However, it seems like the controller's default security policy requires a RADIUS server and I can't find out how to switch the policy off. The documentation assumes I'm in an environment which needs heavy-duty security and the use case is actually a small charity/business with much less stringent security requirements. How do I disable the complicated security policy and instead run a simple one that just uses WPA?

• Changed file and now I cannot access my SSH anymore

  I was trying to get my dedicated server to have a couple of VPS's installed using this tutorial: http://linux-vserver.org/Installation_on_CentOS In the process I had to change a file: /etc/ssh/sshd_config The documentation advises to change it into: ListenAddress <host IP address> Guess what? I literally added <host IP address> instead of the dedicated servers IP. I restarted the server and now I'm not able to access my SSH anymore. Can anyone help me to gain access to my SSH again? I'm using CentOS 6.

• AirPlay over unicast DNS-SD. Anyone got it working?

  We set up AirPrint using unicast DNS-SD on our campus about a year ago and it turned out to be a big success, so we're looking at trying to get AirPlay working so our faculty and students can wirelessly show content on our classroom projectors. There are still a couple of other things preventing an ideal implementation (username and password authentication, for starters), but I've been trying to set up a working demo nonetheless. Getting AirPrint working was basically just a matter of advertising the same records over a DNS-SD domain instead of the multicast (.local) one, but doing the same thing for AirPlay doesn't seem to cut it. The devices don't recognize the DNS-SD AirPlay servers as available. I've uploaded a screenshot of my DNS-SD configuration with the original (from AirServer, which works normally for multicast) here. I realize this is still a fairly new feature and documentation is lacking, but has anyone been able to get AirPlay working via DNS-SD? If it simply only works over multicast, I can accept that, but its potential is so appealing for us that I thought it'd be worth asking if anyone else has figured it out.

• Openfire on Mac OS X: can't log in after setup

  Hey all, I'm trying to set up Openfire (http://www.igniterealtime.org/projects/openfire/) on Mac OS X. The install goes well, and I can start the server and enter the admin console via its System Preferences pane. I run the setup, including specifying the password for the admin user. However, when I try to log into the admin console, I get the message "Login failed: make sure your username and password are correct and that you're an admin or moderator." What gives? I've tried to RTFM, but the documentation seems to be really sketchy. Nowhere is the setup process mentioned in the install docs.

• Copssh, how to add users?

  I installed copssh on Windows Vista (64-bit) here, and the installation seemed to go fine. It requires you to explicitly add users to log in, which is fine, so I opened the COPSSH Control Panel (really just an app), went to the Users tab, clicked Add, Forward, and the "User:" popup is empty. The "Domain:" popup has exactly one entry: my computer name. The "Documentation" shortcut in the start menu group is broken, but I found the folder it's supposed to point to, and I only see docs for command-line tools (which I'll investigate next). Is there something I'm missing? Is the COPSSH Control Panel just plain broken?

• Xdebug 2.0.5 with Zend Server CE PHP5.2.12 possible?

  I'm using Zend Server CE with PHP 5.2.12 on OSX Snow Leopard and want to use Xdebug. I've turned off Zend Data Cache, Zend Optimizer+, and Zend Debugger in the console. When I run $ cd ~/Downloads/xdebug-2.0.5 $ /usr/local/zend/bin/phpize I get Configuring for: PHP Api Version: 20041225 Zend Module Api No: 20060613 Zend Extension Api No: 220060519 The PHP API Version, 20041225, seems to be off from the documentation (aka wrong). When I continue installation with $ ./configure ---with-php-config=/usr/local/zend/bin/php-config $ make $ sudo make install The installed xdebug.so seems to be the wrong one. Which version of xdebug do I need for this PHP API version? The Zend API numbers are ok. I'm just confused at why the PHP API Version doesn't match. • Apache mpm-itk Performance

  I manage a bunch of VPSs with memory ranging from 1GB to 8GB. Most of these websites are Joomla websites, and the servers must support multiple sites/users/S-FTP. I use mpm-itk almost exclusively (mostly due to it's convenience in these shared environments). However, I'm aware it isn't known for performance, so I need some advice on making it faster. Due to the lack of documentation when I first went the way of mpm-itk, I included only one setting in the config, and that was to limit each user to 50 clients (the rest I left up to defaults): <IfModule mpm_itk_module> MaxClientsVHost 50 </IfModule> Are there any better alternatives available? Are there any settings supported in mpm-prefork or mpm-worker that are also supported in mpm-itk? Thanks!

It showed the following output java version "1.6.0_26" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_26-b03) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.1-b02, mixed mode) I am not sure if jdk1.7.0 is installed as its showing the version as 1.6.0_26.

  I have WebLogic 11g installed on my machine under /srv/wls, and I start Node manager on it with /srv/wls/wlserver_10.3/server/bin/startNodeManager.sh. I create my domain with config.sh, and then I want to start the Admin Server of that domain with Node Manager. So I open a WLST session and do the following: > nmConnect(...) > nmStart('AdminServer') But when I then visit localhost:7001/console, and login, the screen on the browser remains blank and the server logs tell me the server has run out of PermGen space. I don't encounter this problem when starting the Admin Server through the shell script under $DOMAIN/startWebLogic.sh. Then it works fine. Any idea what I am doing wrong? I couldn't find anything in Google nor on the Oracle forums...
