• In a graph, how to find the nearest node to a group of nodes?

  Hello, I have an undirected, unweighted graph, which doesn't have to be planar. I also have a subset of graph's nodes (true subset) and I need to find a node not belonging to the subset, with minimum sum of distances to all nodes in the subset. So far, I have implemented breath-first search starting from each node in the subset, and the intersection that occurs first is the node I am looking for. Unfortunately, it is running too slow since the graph contains a large number of nodes. Any advice or comment will be appreciated. Thank you, Nikola

  I ve started using Notepad++ moving over from TextPad I have two main gripes: 1) Can you actually see all the files open in your Notepad++ in a document explorer view like you could with TextPad? 2) Can you configure Notepad++ to only update files open if that file is the active document? Often I have ten log files open and I want to see when they get modified when I click on them 3) Can you control window numbers? Sometimes I look at two files and I always used to switch between them by doing Window - 1 and then Window - 2. With notepad++ a window number seems to assigned and never changes

• How to make a div expand vertically to wrap the content within it?

  I have a div which wraps a number of images that are generated dynamically. I don't know how high the list of images is. My problem is the div that contains the dynamically generated images doesn't behave like it is housing any content - I want it to extend to the height of the list of images. Each image is itself wrapped in a div. This is the wrapper div: .block { padding:10px; margin-top:10px; height:auto; background-color:#f9f9f9; } This is the markup dynamically generated for (one of) the images: <div class="block"> <div style="float: left; padding: 2px 2px 2px 2px;"><IMG SRC="45.jpg" BORDER="0"/></div> .....   I've a asp.net datagrid which shows customer order details. Pagination at the bottom of the grid is done using datalist and asp.net Linkbutton controls. • Efficient multiple services exposed over c# .NET remoting using more channels or end points?

  I am using remoting over TCP for a prototype distributed server application where I want to have varying multiple services exposed from each remoting server process. In some cases I want the services running from the same process but I don't want whatever is using the service to care about that. I am wondering is it more efficient to have multiple services in the same process going over the same remoting channel distinguished by endpoint URI/URL or should I be creating new channels on different ports for each service in the same process? Using up ports isn't so much of a problem as the number of services will be low and the network and machine configuration is completely controlled. Also its not clear to me if remoting sends the URI string for every single message or just at connection time, and whether if the remoting framework is intelligent enough to reduce work if calls are made on the same machine and even the same process? • jQuery ajax request to php, how to return plain text only

  I am making an ajax request to a php page and I cannot for the life of me get it to just return plain text. $.ajax({ type: 'GET', url: '/shipping/test.php', cache: false, dataType: 'text', data: myData, success: function(data){ console.log(data) } }); in test.php I am including this script to get UPS rates. I am then calling the function with $rate = ups($dest_zip,$service,$weight,$length,$width,$height); I am doing echo $rate; at the bottom of test.php. When viewed in a browser shows the rate, that's great. But when I request the page via ajax I get a bunch of XML. • How to expose an entity via alternate keys with spring data rest

  Spring-data-rest does a great job exposing entities via their primary key for GET, PUT and DELETE etc. operations. /myentityies/123 It also exposes search operations. /myentities/search/byMyOtherKey?myOtherKey=123 In my case the entities have a number of alternate keys. The systems calling us, will know the objects by these IDs, rather than our internal primary key. Is it possible to expose the objects via another URL and have the GET, PUT and DELETE handled by the built-in spring-data-rest controllers? /myentities/myotherkey/456 We'd like to avoid forcing the calling systems to have to make two requests for each update. I've tried playing with @RestResource path value, but there doesn't seem to be a way to add additional paths.

  Hi, I'm a Google App Engine newbie and would be grateful for any help. I have an iPhone app which sources data from an sqlite db stored localling on the device. I'd like to set up a Google App Engine web service which my iPhone client will talk to and check if there is a newer version of the sqlite database it needs to download. So iPhone client hits the web service with some kind of version number/timestamp and if there is a newer file, the App Engine will notify the client and the client will then request the new database to download which the App Engine will serve. Is it possible to set up a web service in Google App Engine to do this? Could anyone point me to any sample code / tutorials please? Many Thanks

  Hello, I want to know if it is possible to end a for loop in C++ when an ending condition (different from the reacheing right number of iterations) is verified. For instance: for (int i = 0; i < maxi; ++i) for (int j = 0; j < maxj; ++j) // But if i == 4 < maxi AND j == 3 < maxj, // then jump out of the two nested loops. I know that this is possible in Perl with the next LABEL or last LABEL calls and labeled blocks, is it possible to do it in C++ or I should use a while loop? Thank you.

• Flex Problem Enabling and Disabling Button in List

  I have a list with a dataprovider, it lists out buttons encapsulated in an item renderer. All I want it to do is have a skin that it changes to when it is clicked. I can get this to happen, but then it just goes back to its up state. I want it to stick on the down state, which I have to do by disabling the button. So I tried this: buttonList.selectedItem.enabled = false; for(var i:Number = 0; i< buttonList.numChildren; i++) { var loopBtn = buttonList.getChildAt(i); if(loopBtn != buttonList.selectedItem) { loopBtn.enabled = true; } } But this doesn't seem to work. • session_start() Hangs The Server

  Totally confused by this one... We have a WAMPServer installation set up, running a number of virtual hosts from various document roots. Just recently, one particular domain has started hanging the server. We traced it down to session_start(). If we comment it out, there are no problems (except, of course, for the fact that we can't do anything with the session). With it uncommented, it will hang the page load and, with enough reloads, will hang the entire server. All of the other sites still work perfectly with their sessions. As far as I know, there is nothing different with the way sessions are being worked with. I am looking further into it (in case someone changed something) but right now I'm hoping for some direction :) So, any thoughts?

  I'd like to get the message number and severity level information from SQL Server upon execution of an erroneous query. For example, when a user attempts to delete a row being referenced by another record, and the cascade relationship is "no action", I'd like the application to be able to check for error message 547 ("The DELETE statement conflicted with the REFERENCE constraint...") and return a user friendly and localized message to the user. When running such a query directly on SQL Server, the following message is printed: Msg 547, Level 16, State 0, Line 1 <Error message...> In an Asp.Net app is this information available in an event handler parameter or elsewhere? Also, I don't suppose anyone knows where I can find a definitive reference of SQL Server message numbers?

  Imagine the following use case: I use an AJAX request for getting some info about Item and use this URL: http://domain/items/show/1 In my database all items have a field called modified_at where we store the moment when this item was previously modified. How can Last-Modified server HTTP header in response can minimize load/reduce requests/increase responsiveness if we need to process this request every time on the server side? It looks like we don't reduce the number of HTTP requests with that response and we don't reduce the load on server. Who needs this anyway?

• Make errors - can the gcc compiler warnings prevent a C file from being compiled into an object file

  I'm trying to compile a wireless network card driver for my Linux box and I ran into a problem with the Make command. During the compilation process I normally see warnings on some of the C files that being are compiled; despite the warnings these files were still able to be compiled to an object file. When the Make process comes to a file called rtmp_wext.c however, the compiler generates a large number of warnings and then the whole Make process stops and returns an exit status of error 1, i.e. make: *** [rtmp_wext.o] Error 1. Usually I see an error with the C file for compilation to halt. This is the first time where it seems compiler warnings are preventing the file from being turned into an object file; is this possible or is something else the cause for the unsuccessful compilation?

  I am doing data analysis and sometimes I need to check and to make sure each row in excel does not have any repeated value. I hope that there is a formula where each time if there's a repeated value in the same row, the value will be highlighted and it doesn't matter what value it is, as long as it's repeated in the same row. I try to search it everywhere but the closest I can find is below question & answer ( which couldn't apply to me as I need a formula that can highlight any value that's repeated and not only zero): I have rows which contain grades for students (numerical values), where the number 0 means they missed a class. I want the row to be highlighted in one color if they have "0" 3 or 4 times, and in another color if they have "0" 5 times or more. =COUNTIF(1:1,0)=5 Anyone can help me? Thanks in advance!

  I'm trying to solve problem 50 on Project Euler. Don't give me the answer or solve it for me, just try to answer this specific question. The goal is to find the longest sum of consecutive primes that adds to a prime below one million. I use wrote a sieve to find all the primes below n, and I have confirmed that it is correct. Next, I am going to check the sum of each subset of consecutive primes using the following method: I have a empty list sums. For each prime number, I add it to each element in sums and check the new sum, then I append the prime to sums. Here it is in python primes = allPrimesBelow(1000000) sums = [] for p in primes: for i in range(len(sums)): sums[i] += p check(sums[i]) sums.append(p) I want to know if I have called check() for every sum of two or more consecutive primes below one million The problem says that there is a prime, 953, that can be written as the sum of 21 consecutive primes, but I am not finding it.

I'm taking the average of just the first integer in each tuple.   I display elements in a hierarchy, clicking one displays the next set of elements in the hirearchy. Each element has a tag called "level" which has some value which is 1-.... (whatever the number of levels is for that branch of the tree). When an element is clicked I want the next elements to be displayed, but if an element is clicked and it's subelements have already been displayed I want to hide all subelements. More formally: when an element with level = x is clicked if no elements with level x are displayed then display all elements such that level = x+1 but if some elements with level x are displayed then hide all elements where level x How would I create a jQuery selector that captures this.

• Counts of events grouped by date in python?

  This is no doubt another noobish question, but I'll ask it anyways: I have a data set of events with exact datetime in UTC. I'd like to create a line chart showing total number of events by day (date) in the specified date range. Right now I can retrieve the total data set for the needed date range, but then I need to go through it and count up for each date. The app is running on google app engine and is using python. What is the best way to create a new data set showing date and corresponding counts (including if there were no events on that date) that I can then use to pass this info to a django template? Data set for this example looks like this: class Event(db.Model): event_name = db.StringProperty() doe = db.DateTimeProperty() dlu = db.DateTimeProperty() user = db.UserProperty() Ideally, I want something with date and count for that date.   I'm changing password every month for all scheduled tasks I created in Task Scheduler. This is because our security policy expires our password every month. Due to increasing number of scheduled tasks I'm creating, it eats up a lot of time in just changing password within Task Scheduler. My question is: Is there a way in script to change password in one run specifying the tasks, DOMAIN\username, and password? I know there's a security risk in putting the password in script. The password in script will be removed after the running it.
