• JAVA-I don't want clicking on my app make other apps lose focus

  Wow, what a stupid question you might say. But is it possible? I have a mouse move event in a Jpanel and it works even when the application is not in focus, now can I have something like that for the clicking event or something similar. And most importantly I don't want other apps (even something like the main menu) to lose focus when i click on my app. I was the system's event queue but i'm not sure where that would lead me to. Thanks in advance.

• What's a good way to throw and handle events in PHP?

  Hi everyone, I am just trying to get a general idea about the event prcessing mechanism in PHP5 in as neat way as possible. First of all I understand that a PHP application is not exactly a persistent type, so the events may not make a lot of sense, but from the OO perspective it might be a very elegant way to "communicate" between the objects. So I am thinking that it would make sense to separate the events on the external events, such as $_POST & $_GET and the internal ones, i.e. function callbacks. As far as the external ones, is it a good idea to process the $_GETs and $_POSTs directly, or is it better to wrap them into an event of some sort? Also, in order to process the internal events, do you have to pass the reference to the event handler/dispatcher to each class so they know how to throw them? I was thinking to use the PEAR EventDispatcher to do the work, but I am open to other suggestions. Thank you!

• Is there a way to get the current UIEvent being handled?

  I'm working in a class that is a delegate of another class; this other class is in a third-party library that I'd like to avoid changing if at all possible. The original class is handling a -touchesEnded event, and is delegating responsibility to me, but it doesn't pass the UIEvent itself to me. Is there a way to get a handle to the current event in progress? It's a double-tap handler, and all that is passed to me is the view being touched, and the point at which the touch occurred. I want to know exactly how many touches are involved in the event. Thanks! randy

We set out to run a series of back-to-back events in order to meet, talk to and delight as many SQL Server and Red Gate enthusiasts as possible in 5 different cities in 11 days. We did it! The attendees had a good time too and 99% of them would attend another SQL in the City event in 2013 – so it seems we left an impression.   If I run Disk Scan (CHKDSK) on Windows 7, I get the log in the event viewer. • App pool gets stuck on reset and takes .net pages out

  Several times after our app pool has been told to reset, it gets stuck, the .net pages go down and the following error appears in the application event log: Failed to execute request because the App-Domain could not be created. Error: 0x80070057 The parameter is incorrect. Our app pool is scheduled to automatically reset at 4am, so the errors stay up until we manually restart the app pool. Has anyone else encountered the error or know of any solutions? Research has suggested it's a permissions issue, but the permissions don't change and the error happens infrequently. The site has no other permission based problems and the app pool identity has permission where needed.

• Do I need to contact a lawyer to report a GPL violation in software distributed on Apple's App Store?

  Some company is selling software through Apple's App Store which uses portions of code that I released publicly under the GPL. The company is violating the licensing terms in two ways, by (1) not preserving my copyright statement, and not releasing their code under the GPL license and (2) by distributing my GPL-licensed code through Apple's App Store. (The Free Software Foundation has made clear that the terms of the GPL and those of the App Store are incompatible.) I want to report this to Apple, and ask that they take appropriate action. I have tried mailing them to ask for more information about the reporting process, and have received the automated reply quoted below. The last point in the list of things one needs to provide, the “a statement by you, made under penalty of perjury,” sounds as if they mean some kind of specific legal document. I'm not sure. Does this mean I need to contact a lawyer just to file the report? I'd like to avoid going through that hassle if at all possible. (Besides an answer to this specific question, I'd welcome comments and experience reports from anyone who has already had to deal with a GPL violation on Apple's App Store.) • Windows 7 - Move location of Eventlog

  I am having a particular nasty problem of my main system drive 'disappearing' all of the sudden while the system is running. The vendor somewhat knows about this but has not managed to fix it completely over multiple fw iterations. Problems I have with the support is that I cannot provide any particular system log files/entries to further analyse what might have been going on because, well - windows cannot write to its 'lost' drive before bsod'ing. Is there any way to configure where Windows 7 stores its event logs so that I could specify a second physical hdd?

• What is the best way to store anciliary data with a 2D timeseries object in R?

  I currently try to move from matlab to R. I have 2D measurements, consisting of irradiance in time and wavelength together with quality flags and uncertainty and error estimates. In Matlab I extended the timeseries object to store both the wavelength array and the auxiliary data. What is the best way in R to store this data? Ideally I would like this data to be stored together such that e.g. window(...) keeps all data synchronized.

  I have a powershell script that runs a custom cmdlet. It is run by Task Scheduler and I want to log what it does. The Update-EbuMembers cmdlet does not return an object. I want to log any verbose messages written by WriteVerbose and I want to log errors created by ThrowTerminatingError.

Instead of a full page re-rendering, ADF Faces events and components can trigger partial page refresh, in which only portions of a page are refresh upon a request. In addition, some components - including the af:popup and af:subForm - represent event roots. Event roots don't propagated event notification outside of the component tag boundary, which means that the ADF Faces lifecycle only executed on components that are children of the event root component. The PanelCollection component is an event root and therefore only validates and refreshes data of its child components.

• NTFS Error - file system structure is corrupt and unusable

  My Windows 7 (64) keeps completely locking up, and I have to hold the power button to shit it down. Event logs are showing EventID 55. I realize that this can be a warning sign of an impending disk failure, but my data on this machine is safely backed up and I don't feel like taking the time to replace the drive right now. When I have seen this problem before, I have been able to delete the offending folder with a Linux Live CD. (When CHKDSK /F didn't work). In this case, the folder is from VSS. I assume this is from Crashplan, my online backup provider. What are the ramifications of deleting this folder from Linux? Is it safe to do? "The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume \Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy26."
