    Hi, I want to fire a trigger whenever an insert command is fired.. The trigger will access a pl/sql file which can change anytime.. So the query is, if we design the trigger, how can we make sure this dynamic thing happens.. As during the stored procedure, it is not workingg.. I think - it should work for 1) External Procedures 2) Execute Statement Please correct me, if I am wrong.. I was working on External Procedures but i am not able to find the way to execute the external procedure from here on..     i have a query like this: ID | name | commentsCount 1 | mysql for dummies | 33 2 | mysql beginners guide | 22 SELECT ..., commentsCount // will return 33 for first row, 22 for second one FROM mycontents WHERE name LIKE "%mysql%" also i want to know the total of comments, of all rows: SELECT ..., SUM(commentsCount) AS commentsCountAggregate // should return 55 FROM mycontents WHERE name LIKE "%mysql%" but this one obviously returns a single row with the total. now i want to merge these two queries in one single only, because my actual query is very heavy to execute (it uses boolean full text search, substring offset search, and sadly lot more), then i don't want to execute it twice is there a way to get the total of comments without making the SELECT twice? !! custom functions are welcome !! also variable usage is welcome, i never used them...

  • Dynamic access to tables from another database inside an user function

    I have an user defined table function in SQL Server that aggregate data from several tables including a couple of tables of another database. That is done hardcoding the name of the database in the queries, but we want to make the database name configurable (because our databases usually share the server with the databases of other applications). I tried to construct a dynamic query string inside the function using the database name that is stored in a configuration table, but: When I tried exec(@sqlStatement) SQL Server said that execute string is not allowed inside a function. Then I tried exec sp_executesql @sqlStatement and the function was created, but when you execute it SQL Server says that inside a function you can only run extended functions and procedures. So the question is: is possible create a function or stored procedure that access a table in another database without having to recreate the function when the database name is different? TIA.

  • rake db:create not working for legacy rails app (2.3.5) using MySQL (5.5.28)

    I'm a new Rails Developer, and I'm working on a legacy Rails app. Whenever I run the rake db:create command, I get an error that the database couldn't be created. I have found many StackOverflow questions related to this, but in troubleshooting nearly all permutations of solutions, I couldn't resolve the issue. I created the three Dbs (dev, prod, test), created the user with all access privileges to these dbs, and ran rake db:create. I'm running Mac OS X Lion, MySQL 5.5.28, Rails 2.3.5, Ruby 1.8.7. Here are my settings development: adapter: mysql encoding: utf8 database: adva_development username: adva password: **** host: localhost socket: /tmp/mysql.sock Here's the error: Couldn't create database for {"adapter"=>"mysql", "username"=>"adva", "host"=>"localhost", "encoding"=>"utf8", "database"=>"adva_development", "socket"=>"/tmp/mysql.sock", "password"=>"****"}, charset: utf8, collation: utf8_unicode_ci (if you set the charset manually, make sure you have a matching collation) I have done the following troubleshooting: Verified user and password are correct, and the user has access to the DB. (Double checked user access with SELECT * FROM mysql.db WHERE Db = 'adva_development' \G; User has all privileges.) Verify the socket is correct. I don't really understand sockets, but I can plainly see it at /tmp/mysql.sock. Checked collation and character set. I found out I had created the DB in latin charset and collation, so I recreated them. I ran show variables like "collation_database"; and show variables like "character_set_database"; and came back with utf8 and utf8_unicode_ci respectively. I followed the instructions in this question. After uninstalling mysql gem, I ran the following but came up with the same error: gem install --no-rdoc --no-ri mysql -- --with-mysql-dir=/usr/local/mysql-5.5.28-osx10.6-x86_64/bin --with-mysql-config=/usr/local/mysql-5.5.28-osx10.6-x86_64/bin/mysql_config Following Matt's suggestion, here's what a rake --trace db:create reveals: ** Invoke db:create (first_time) ** Invoke db:load_config (first_time) ** Invoke rails_env (first_time) ** Execute rails_env ** Execute db:load_config ** Execute db:create Couldn't create database for {"database"=>"adva_development", "adapter"=>"mysql", "host"=>"127.0.0.1", "password"=>"woof2adva", "username"=>"adva", "encoding"=>"utf8"}, charset: utf8, collation: utf8_unicode_ci (if you set the charset manually, make sure you have a matching collation) After 3 days and six or seven hours, I have pretty much run out of options. I tried various random things, like replacing localhost with 127.0.0.1 to no avail. Could there be something wrong related to my specific environment? Mac OS X Lion + MySQL 5.5.28?   • PHP PDO - bindValue PARAM_BOOL as string

    I'm freaking out here and can't figure out what's wrong. I'm pretty new to PDO, but everything works in my code except for booleans which are sent as strings. My code (simplified): $sql = 'SELECT * FROM pages WHERE clean_url_slo = :clean_url_slo AND published = :published LIMIT 1'; $clean_url_slo = 'home'; $published = true; Then I prepare stuff and execute it like this (simplified): $stmt = $db->prepare($sql); $stmt->bindValue(':clean_url_slo',$clean_url_slo,PDO::PARAM_STR); $stmt->bindValue(':published',$published,PDO::PARAM_BOOL); $stmt->execute(); And then here is what comes to mysql (from the mysql log - the query mysql received): 91 Query SELECT * FROM pages WHERE 1=1 AND clean_url_slo='domov' AND published='1' ORDER BY id desc LIMIT 1 As you can see, published is an integer - so always true, which is not OK. Why is that if I'm declaring it as a boolean? using: WAMP SERVER PHP version: 5.3.9 Mysql: 5.5.20 Many thanks for your help..

    I am trying to access information from an Oracle meta-data table from within a function.   • SSIS - user variable used in derived column transform is not available - in some cases

    Unfortunately I don't have a repro for my issue, but I thought I would try to describe it in case it sounds familiar to someone... I am using SSIS 2005, SP2. My package has a package-scope user variable - let's call it user_var first step in the control flow is an Execute SQL task which runs a stored procedure. All that SP does is insert a record in a SQL table (with an identity column) and then go back and get the max ID value. The Execute SQL task saves this output into user_var the control flow then has a Data Flow Task - it goes and gets some source data, has a derived column which sets a column called run_id to user_var - and saves the data to a SQL destination In most cases (this template is used for many packages, running every day) this all works great. All of the destination records created get set with a correct run_id. However, in some cases, there is a set of the destination data that does not get run_id equal to user_var, but instead gets a value of 0 (0 is the default value for user_var). I have 2 instances where this has happened, but I can't make it happen. In both cases, it was just less that 10,000 records that have run_id = 0. Since SSIS writes data out in 10,000 record blocks, this really makes me think that, for the first set of data written out, user_var was not yet set. Then, after that first block, for the rest of the data, run_id is set to a correct value. But control passed on to my data flow from the Execute SQL task - it would have seemed reasonable to me that it wouldn't go on until the SP has completed and user_var is set. Maybe it just runs the SP, but doesn't wait for it to complete? In both cases where this has happened there seemed to be a few packages hitting the table to get a new user_var at about the same time. And in both cases lots of data was written (40 million rows, 60 million rows) - my thinking is that that means the writes were happening for a while. Sorry to be both long-winded AND vague. A winning combination! Does this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks.

    I am doing some reviison from the lecture slides and it says a constructor is executed in the following way; If the constructor starts with this, recursively execute the indicated constructor, then go to step 4. Invoke the explicitly or implicitly indicated superclass constructor (unless this class is java.lang.Object) Initialise the fields of the object in the order in which they were declared in this class Execute the rest of the body of this constructor. What i dont undertsand is that, a constructor can never "start" with this, because even if it forms no class heirarchy/relationship then super() is inserted by default. How would this fit in with the description above? Thanks

  • [Ruby] Confirm existance of executable (script, bat, cmd, exe) via a ruby file.

    Using a ruby file (or any rake facility) I need to find out if the user who executes my script is able to execute certain shell commands. In particular g++ etc. Hopefully system independent so if there is some g++.bat, g++.exe or just g++ (etc) it should say yes nevertheless, as long as its on the path and executable on the users system. Example: if the user has a no-extention executable version of the file and a .cmd version of the file it should say "yes" for the no extension version on a linux system and "yes" to the .cmd version on a windows system. Since the users shell can only execute that version of the file. The purpose of this is to allow the script to be self-configuring (as much as possible). Any suggestions on how I might go about doing this?

MOV r32, imm32 ie "B8" not "BA" In fact none of the MOV opcodes are "BA". If someone could break down "ba 0e 00 00 00" and explain bit-wise how to get to "mov $0xe,%edx" it would be most helpful.

  • SqlDataAdapter.Fill suddenly taking a long time

    I have an application with a central DataTier that can execute a query to a data table using an SQLDataAdapter. None of this code has changed but now all queries are taking at least 10x as long to execute a query returning even one record. The only difference is that I have been using the app in a VM but the issue has started mid way through using the application. eg, the speed issue has not manifested itself from the start of using the VM, rather half way through. Has anyone else had an issue with the SQL Data Adapter taking a long time to fill for no reason? executing the query in Management studio it runs in less than a second. Firewalls are disabled

Then it gives the following instructions to execute: $ git clone git://github.com/ruhoh/blog.git USERNAME.ruhoh.com $ cd USERNAME.ruhoh.com $ git remote set-url origin [email protected]:USERNAME/USERNAME.ruhoh.com.git $ git push origin master I am able to execute the first three lines and then on the fourth I am asked to enter my passphrase for /home/nredyssuts/.ssh/id_rsa I do that correctly and then bam! ERROR: Repository not found. fatal: the remote end hung up unexpectedly I'm not sure why this is happening at all. This is a public repository.

    I have used the STS(Spring Tool Suite) to create a compiled groovy script which exists as a file on windows called Test.class. I am able to right click on the file in STS and execute it which works well. However - I want to be able to execute the script on the windows command line, so far I have tried various ways but have not been successful. I have tried the following... java -cp C:\Users\MyName\springsource\sts- 3.1.0.RELEASE\plugins\org.codehaus.grails.bundle_2.1.1\content\lib\ org.codehaus.groovy\groovy-all\jars\groovy-all-1.8.8.jar Test.class But that does not work it gives me an error -- Error: Could not find or load main class Test.class Any Pointers?

This could also be useful for the parameter of setTimeout, then the code passed could be executed in the timeout event. Can this be done?
