  • Sequential numbering from recursive function? e.g. 2, 2.1, 2.1.1, 2.2, 2.2.1

    - by Pete
I have a recursive function reading a "table of contents" of documents from a database. I would like to print numbering with the document that reflects where the item is in the tree, e.g. First item, 1.1 Child of first item, 1.1.1 Child of child of first item, 1.2 Child of first item, Second item, 2.1 Child of second item, etc. Rather stumped about this at the moment - help please?

  • Searching temporal data

    - by user321299
I developing an application (in C#) where objects are active under a period of time, they have from and to properties of DateTime-type. Now I want to speed up my search routine for queries like: Are there other active objects in this timeperiod/at this time. Is there any existing temporal index I can use or can I use QuadTree/other tree-structures to search in an efficient way.

  • Redirecting page from IFrame to Parent when session expire

    - by Venkatesh
I have IFrame load one of the menu item click in that page left side I have tree structure and top of the page menu Items.Center of the page loading with IFrame.Whenever session going to expire I am giving alert(session will expire soon). But this alert is coming for Iframe window (after some seconds complete) as well as parent page. That means two alerts are coming whenever session going to expire .That alert should come on parent page not in Iframe page. How to avoid this?

  • Add to SortedSet<T> and its complexity

    - by Andrei Taptunov
MSDN states the following SortedSet(T).Add Method : If Count is less than the capacity of the internal array, this method is an O(1) operation. Could someone please explain "how so"? I mean when adding new value we need to find a correct place to add a value (comparing it with another values) and internal implementation looks like a "Red-Black tree" with O (log N) insertion complexity.

  • Infinite loop when adding a row to a list in a class in python3

    - by Margaret
I have a script which contains two classes. (I'm obviously deleting a lot of stuff that I don't believe is relevant to the error I'm dealing with.) The eventual task is to create a decision tree, as I mentioned in this question. Unfortunately, I'm getting an infinite loop, and I'm having difficulty identifying why. I've identified the line of code that's going haywire, but I would have thought the iterator and the list I'm adding to would be different objects. Is there some side effect of list's .append functionality that I'm not aware of? Or am I making some other blindingly obvious mistake? class Dataset: individuals = [] #Becomes a list of dictionaries, in which each dictionary is a row from the CSV with the headers as keys def field_set(self): #Returns a list of the fields in individuals[] that can be used to split the data (i.e. have more than one value amongst the individuals def classified(self, predicted_value): #Returns True if all the individuals have the same value for predicted_value def fields_exhausted(self, predicted_value): #Returns True if all the individuals are identical except for predicted_value def lowest_entropy_value(self, predicted_value): #Returns the field that will reduce <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entropy_%28information_theory%29">entropy</a> the most def __init__(self, individuals=[]): and class Node: ds = Dataset() #The data that is associated with this Node links = [] #List of Nodes, the offspring Nodes of this node level = 0 #Tree depth of this Node split_value = '' #Field used to split out this Node from the parent node node_value = '' #Value used to split out this Node from the parent Node def split_dataset(self, split_value): fields = [] #List of options for split_value amongst the individuals datasets = {} #Dictionary of Datasets, each one with a value from fields[] as its key for field in self.ds.field_set()[split_value]: #Populates the keys of fields[] fields.append(field) datasets[field] = Dataset() for i in self.ds.individuals: #Adds individuals to the datasets.dataset that matches their result for split_value datasets[i[split_value]].individuals.append(i) #<---Causes an infinite loop on the second hit for field in fields: #Creates subnodes from each of the datasets.Dataset options self.add_subnode(datasets[field],split_value,field) def add_subnode(self, dataset, split_value='', node_value=''): def __init__(self, level, dataset=Dataset()): My initialisation code is currently: if __name__ == '__main__': filename = (sys.argv[1]) #Takes in a CSV file predicted_value = "# class" #Identifies the field from the CSV file that should be predicted base_dataset = parse_csv(filename) #Turns the CSV file into a list of lists parsed_dataset = individual_list(base_dataset) #Turns the list of lists into a list of dictionaries root = Node(0, Dataset(parsed_dataset)) #Creates a root node, passing it the full dataset root.split_dataset(root.ds.lowest_entropy_value(predicted_value)) #Performs the first split, creating multiple subnodes n = root.links[0] n.split_dataset(n.ds.lowest_entropy_value(predicted_value)) #Attempts to split the first subnode.

  • Java equivalent of C++ std::map?

    - by Rudiger
I'm looking for a Java class with the characteristics of C++ std::map's usual implementation (as I understand it, a self-balancing binary search tree): O(log n) performance for insertion/removal/search Each element is composed of a unique key and a mapped value Keys follow a strict weak ordering I'm looking for implementations with open source or design documents; I'll probably end up rolling my own support for primitive keys/values. This question's style is similar to: Java equivalent of std::deque, whose answer was "ArrayDeque from Primitive Collections for Java".

  • Catch all DOM events on a page (without Firebug et. al.)

    - by Morten Bergfall
How would I go about creating a cross-browser script, that would intercept all events firing on a page/browser window/DOM-tree (regardless of browser)? What I'm hoping to accomplish is basically to get a better understanding of the different handling of events in different browsers; I know the basic theory, but need to see to believe...

  • Java: what is the class for the isBinary-method?

    - by HH
I am accustomed to java.io.* and java.util.* but not to the tree: com.starbase.util Class FileUtils java.lang.Object | +--com.starbase.util.FileUtils Source. So which class should I import to use the isBinary-method? Do I do "import java.lang.Object;" or "import java.lang.Object.com.starbase.util.FileUtils;"?

  • Why do so many wpf controls implement CLR properties instead of dependency properties ?

    - by msfanboy
Hello, is it because the controls programmers are lazy, too hard to implement or not knowledgeable? Wether they are custom controls from 3rd party vendors or Microsoft itself, very much controls have often clr properties instead of DP. Result is I can not bind to them and is wpf not all about binding? :/ My next side question would be, why do so many wpf controls offer visual parts but they are not member of the visual tree ? see wpf datagrid columns, headers... What do you think?

  • Languages for implementing decision trees

    - by Shailesh Tainwala
What would be a good choice of programming language in which to implement a decision tree? The results of the implementation will be for personal use only, so no need to consider ability to publish etc. I have heard that Octave is a good option, can anyone explain why a matrix based language is recommended for implementing decision trees?
