  • Social-Networking Startup, Hosting Plan

    - by pws5068
    I've created a social networking community which is soon ready to release, and I'm trying to decide on a type of hosting plan. I have considered options such as VPS and Reseller plans. I anticipate (or hope for at least) a significant amount of traffic/bandwidth in the not-too-distant future. If I open a reseller, will I receive the same amount of server lag during busy hours that I do with a shared account? How significant is the profit margin with the reseller option? Aside from generalized "configurability", what advantages merit purchasing a VPS? Is there anything stopping me from reselling space on a VPS account? Features I need Include: PHP, MySql, Unlimited Domains, Ruby on Rails, Remote Database Connections

  • Custom UserControl property not being set via XAML DataBinding in Silverlight 4

    - by programatique
    I have a custom user control called GoalProgressControl. Another user control contains GoalProgressControl and sets its GoalName attribute via databinding in XAML. However, the GoalName property is never set. When I check it in debug mode GoalName remains "null" for the control's lifetime. How do I set the GoalName property? Is there something I am doing incorrectly? I am using .NET Framework 4 and Silverlight 4. I am relatively new to XAML and Silverlight so any help would be greatly appreciated. I have attempted to change GoalProgressControl.GoalName into a POCO property but this causes a Silverlight error, and my reading leads me to believe that databound properties should be of type DependencyProperty. I've also simplified my code to just focus on the GoalName property (the code is below) with no success. Here is GoalProgressControl.xaml: <UserControl x:Class="GoalView.GoalProgressControl" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" DataContext="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource Self}}" Height="100"> <Border Margin="5" Padding="5" BorderBrush="#999" BorderThickness="1"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding GoalName}"/> </Border> </UserControl> GoalProgressControl.xaml.cs: public partial class GoalProgressControl : UserControl, INotifyPropertyChanged { public GoalProgressControl() { InitializeComponent(); } public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; public void NotifyPropertyChanged(string propertyName) { if (PropertyChanged != null) { PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(propertyName)); } } public static DependencyProperty GoalNameProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("GoalName", typeof(string), typeof(GoalProgressControl), null); public string GoalName { get { return (String)GetValue(GoalProgressControl.GoalNameProperty); } set { base.SetValue(GoalProgressControl.GoalNameProperty, value); NotifyPropertyChanged("GoalName"); } } } I've placed GoalProgressControl on another page: <Grid Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="1" Grid.ColumnSpan="2" Margin="5" Background="#eee" Height="200"> <Border BorderBrush="#999" BorderThickness="1" Background="White"> <StackPanel> <hgc:SectionTitleBar x:Name="ttlGoals" Title="Personal Goals" ImageSource="../Images/check.png" Uri="/Pages/GoalPage.xaml" MoreVisibility="Visible" /> <ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding Path=GoalItems}"> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <!--TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=[Name]}"/--> <goal:GoalProgressControl GoalName="{Binding Path=[Name]}"/> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl> </StackPanel> </Border> </Grid> Please note the commented out "TextBlock" item above. If I comment in the TextBlock and comment out the GoalProgressControl, the binding works correctly and the TextBlock shows the GoalName correctly. Also, if I replace the "GoalName" property above with a simple text string (ex "hello world"), the control renders correctly and "hello world" is shown on the control when it renders.

  • Is there a way to edit a control's template based on the default template?

    - by Adam S
    I'm trying to make just a few minor tweaks to the default template of a checkbox. Now I understand how to make a new template from scratch, but this I do not know. I did manage to (I think?) extract the default template via the method here. And it spat out: <ControlTemplate TargetType="CheckBox" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:s="clr-namespace:System;assembly=mscorlib" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:mwt="clr-namespace:Microsoft.Windows.Themes;assembly=PresentationFramework.Luna"> <BulletDecorator Background="#00FFFFFF" SnapsToDevicePixels="True"> <BulletDecorator.Bullet> <mwt:BulletChrome Background="{TemplateBinding Panel.Background}" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding Border.BorderBrush}" BorderThickness="{TemplateBinding Border.BorderThickness}" RenderMouseOver="{TemplateBinding UIElement.IsMouseOver}" RenderPressed="{TemplateBinding ButtonBase.IsPressed}" IsChecked="{TemplateBinding ToggleButton.IsChecked}" /> </BulletDecorator.Bullet> <ContentPresenter RecognizesAccessKey="True" Content="{TemplateBinding ContentControl.Content}" ContentTemplate="{TemplateBinding ContentControl.ContentTemplate}" ContentStringFormat="{TemplateBinding ContentControl.ContentStringFormat}" Margin="{TemplateBinding Control.Padding}" HorizontalAlignment="{TemplateBinding Control.HorizontalContentAlignment}" VerticalAlignment="{TemplateBinding Control.VerticalContentAlignment}" SnapsToDevicePixels="{TemplateBinding UIElement.SnapsToDevicePixels}" /> </BulletDecorator> <ControlTemplate.Triggers> <Trigger Property="ContentControl.HasContent"> <Setter Property="FrameworkElement.FocusVisualStyle"> <Setter.Value> <Style TargetType="IFrameworkInputElement"> <Style.Resources> <ResourceDictionary /> </Style.Resources> <Setter Property="Control.Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate> <Rectangle Stroke="#FF000000" StrokeThickness="1" StrokeDashArray="1 2" Margin="14,0,0,0" SnapsToDevicePixels="True" /> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> </Setter.Value> </Setter> <Setter Property="Control.Padding"> <Setter.Value> <Thickness>2,0,0,0</Thickness> </Setter.Value> </Setter> <Trigger.Value> <s:Boolean>True</s:Boolean> </Trigger.Value> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="UIElement.IsEnabled"> <Setter Property="TextElement.Foreground"> <Setter.Value> <DynamicResource ResourceKey="{x:Static SystemColors.GrayTextBrushKey}" /> </Setter.Value> </Setter> <Trigger.Value> <s:Boolean>False</s:Boolean> </Trigger.Value> </Trigger> </ControlTemplate.Triggers> </ControlTemplate> Okay, sure, looks just fine I guess. I don't have enough experience to know if that looks like it's right or not. Now, I get two errors: Assembly 'PresentationFramework.Luna' was not found. Verify that you are not missing an assembly reference. Also, verify that your project and all referenced assemblies have been built. and The type 'mwt:BulletChrome' was not found. Verify that you are not missing an assembly reference and that all referenced assemblies have been built. Now I'm wondering, how can I resolve these errors so that I can actually start working on the template? Is there a better way of going about this? My boss wants a three-state checkbox with a red square instead of green, and he won't take no for an answer.

  • OpenID and Iframes

    - by Phood
    hey guys, I'm having a little bit of trouble making OpenID work from within an iframe. basically I have some heavy handed content loaded on the main page and I want to build a log in system where the page doesn't need to be reloaded (and thus reload all of that content again). I fell in love with OpenID from using stack exchange websites, and have intergrated it relatively well into other projects. I feel to do what I want to do I would like to try and use an iframe (because new windows make me cry), however I have stumbled at some form of hurdle somewhere near the middle and for the life of me can't work out whats going on... basically I have a form in a jQuery generated DIV and openID form that seems to work to dynamically load an iframe. something along these lines: <script type="text/javascript"> contentboxs = 0; function contentbox() { if (contentboxs == 0){ $('#mainpage').append("<div id='contentbox'><div style='clear:both;' id='oritext'></div><div id='f_content'><iframe src ='' name='framedcontent' width='580' height='600' scrolling='false'></iframe></div></div>"); $('#f_content').hide(); contentboxs++; } else { $('#contentbox-wipe').remove(); $('#contentbox').remove(); contentboxs--; } } function loginpanel(){ contentbox(); if (contentboxs == 1){ $('#oritext').append("<form method='post' action='login.php' name='oidform' target='framedcontent'>Please Select your OpenID Provider: <br/><input type='text' name=\"id\" id='openidbox' /><br /><input type='submit' name='submit' value='Log In' onclick='loginsubmit();' ></form>"); } } function loginsubmit() { $('#oritext').html(''); $('#contentbox').animate({'height':'600px', 'width':'700px', 'margin-top' : '-300px', 'margin-left' : '-350px'},500, 'linear', function() { $('#f_content').show(); }); } </script> <a href='javascript:loginpanel();'>login</a> and as far as I can tell this all works fine. my problem comes in my re-direction to the openID remote sites (again doing it with JS along these lines:) echo("<div><p><center>Redirecting...</center></div>"); echo "<script type='text/javascript'> function delayer() { this.location = '".$url."' } setTimeout('delayer()', 3000) </script>"; sorry this is a bit long winded, but here is my problem (finally): this works fine for some of the OID sites that I have tried, but some are giving me problems: Google won't load at all, Yahoo and mySpace open fine in the iframe then instantly redirect the full window to the home page and the OID page respectively, and wordpress returns an error. I'm assuming that this is a counter measure put in place to stop me stealing login details (thats not what i'm trying to achieve btw, hence the preamble), and thats fair enough, but still bloody aggravating. is there any thing here that i'm doing retardedly, is there some way round this, and if neither of the above, is my only other options to create new windows or build my own login/registration. If you have got this far thank you very much for your time, and I hope you didn't mind too much the spelling mistakes.

  • CSS: Horizontal, comma-separated list with fixed <li> width

    - by hello
    Hello, I would like to achieve the following structure: [gfhtfg..., kgjrfg..., asd, mrhgf, ] ^-------^ ^-------^ ^-------^ ^-------^ X X X X (X = a fixed length) I've got a <div> with a fixed length, and inside it an horizontal, comma-separated list (ul) of links. The <li> elements should have a fixed width, and so if the links exceed a fixed length an ellipsis will be shown (using the text-overflow property). I know two ways to make a list horizontal. One is using display: inline and the other using the float property. With the first approach, I can't set a fixed width because the CSS specification doesn't allow setting the width of inline elements. The second approach creates a mess :O Setting float on the <a> element, intending to limit the width there, separates it from the commas. There are no browser-compatibility issues, I only have to support WebKit. I included the code I attempted to work with: <!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en"> <head> <title>a title</title> <style> body { font-family: arial; font-size: 10pt; } div { height: 30px; width: 300px; background: #eee; border: 1px solid #ccc; text-align: center; } ul { margin: 0px; padding: 0px; } ul li:after { content: ","; } ul li:last-child:after { content: ""; } ul li a { text-decoration: none; color: #666; } ul li { margin: 0px; padding: 0px; list-style: none; overflow: hidden; text-overflow: ellipsis; -webkit-text-overflow: ellipsis; /* Inline elements can't have a width (and they shouldn't according to the specification */ display: inline; width: 30px; } </style> </head> <body> <div> <ul> <li><a href="#">a certain link</a></li> <li><a href="#">link</a></li> <li><a href="#">once again</a></li> <li><a href="#">another one</a></li> </ul> </div> </body> </html> Thank you.

  • A PDF viewer for large margins in fullscreen

    - by jmn
    I am looking for a way to pleasantly read PDF files on my widescreen (22" 1680x1050) monitor. My problem with all pdf the PDF-viewer applications I have tried is that they do not handle wide and high margins well. If I go to fullscreen mode in my viewer and zoom in so that the extra margins are cropped, I can view the pages nicely, the annoyance however is that I have to reposition the pages every time I navigate to another page. I am sure there must be a way to make a PDF viewer that can solve this problem and perhaps there is one you know of? I am aware of something called PDF Reflow in Acrobat Reader but that only works with certain specific (tagged) files. I want a PDF viewer with a smarter zoom/next page function or an automatic margin-crop function. Is there such a thing?

  • How to Bind a selected Item in a Listbox to a ItemsControl and ItemTemplate in WPF and C#

    - by Scott
    All, LowDown: I am trying to create a Document Viewer in WPF. The layout is this: Left side is a full list box. On the right side is a Collection or an Items control. Inside the items control will be a collection of the "selected documents" in the list box. So A user can select multiple items in the list box and for each new item they select, they can add the item to the collection on the right. I want the collection to look like a image gallery that shows up in Google/Bing Image searches. Make sense? The problem I am having is I can't get the WPFPreviewer to bind correctly to the selected item in the list box under the itemscontrol. Side Note: The WPFPreviewer is something Micorosft puts out that allows us to preview documents. Other previewers can be built for all types of documents, but im going basic here until I get this working right. I have been successful in binding to the list box WITHOUT the items control here: <Window.Resources> <DataTemplate x:Key="listBoxTemplate"> <StackPanel Margin="3" > <DockPanel > <Image Source="{Binding IconURL}" Height="30"></Image> <TextBlock Text=" " /> <TextBlock x:Name="Title" Text="{Binding Title}" FontWeight="Bold" /> <TextBlock x:Name="URL" Visibility="Collapsed" Text="{Binding Url}"/> </DockPanel> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </Window.Resources><Grid Background="Cyan"> <ListBox HorizontalAlignment="Left" ItemTemplate="{StaticResource listBoxTemplate}" Width="200" AllowDrop="True" x:Name="lbDocuments" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=DocumentElements,ElementName=winDocument}" DragEnter="documentListBox_DragEnter" /> <l:WPFPreviewHandler Content="{Binding ElementName=lbDocuments, Path=SelectedItem.Url}"/> </Grid> Though, once I add in the ItemsControl, I can't get it to work anymore: <Window.Resources> <DataTemplate x:Key="listBoxTemplate"> <StackPanel Margin="3" > <DockPanel > <Image Source="{Binding IconURL}" Height="30"></Image> <TextBlock Text=" " /> <TextBlock x:Name="Title" Text="{Binding Title}" FontWeight="Bold" /> <TextBlock x:Name="URL" Visibility="Collapsed" Text="{Binding Url}"/> </DockPanel> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </Window.Resources> <Grid> <ListBox HorizontalAlignment="Left" ItemTemplate="{StaticResource listBoxTemplate}" Width="200" AllowDrop="True" x:Name="lbDocuments" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=DocumentElements,ElementName=winDocument}" DragEnter="documentListBox_DragEnter" /> <ItemsControl x:Name="DocumentViewer" ItemsSource="{Binding ElementName=lbDocuments, Path=SelectedItem.Url}" > <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Grid Background="Cyan"> <l:WPFPreviewHandler Content="{Binding Url}"/> </Grid> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl> </Grid> Can someone please help me out with trying to bind to the ItemsControl if I select one or even multiple items in the listbox.

    - by xenogen
    Hi everybody! I'm continuously having the problem when i use jquery lightbox (which runs prototype) and jquery news slider. I tried the "noconflict" method. The problem is I don't know the exact place to put the code. So, here, i'm putting my scripts within . • Navigation to call action for bean class

    - by Muthu
    I am using JSF 2.0 and PrimeFaces 3.0. I have uploaded the images and have to crop the image. The images are uploaded and successfully displayed in the upload pages. When I select the images and click the crop button the corresponding crop bean is not called. If I don't select the image and click the crop button the corresponding crop bean class is called but a NullPointerException occurred. What is the problem? The Facelet view is: <h:form> <p:panel header="FILE UPLOAD WITH CROPPER" style="width:900px; margin: 0 auto; margin-top:0px"> <p:fileUpload fileUploadListener="#{photoUploadAction.handleImageUpload}" mode="advanced" update="getImageId,messages" auto="false" allowTypes="/(\.|\/)(gif|jpe?g|png)$/"/> <p:growl id="messages" showDetail="true"/> <p:growl id="uploadMessages" showSummary="true" showDetail="true"/> <h:panelGrid columns="2" > <p:imageCropper value="#{photoUploadAction.croppedImage}" id="getImageId" image="images/#{photoUploadVO.imageName}"/> </h:panelGrid> <p:commandButton value="Crop" update="getImageId" action="#{imageCropperBean.crop}" /> </p:panel> </h:form> BACKING BEAN for ImageCropper: @ManagedBean(name="imageCrop") @RequestScoped public class ImageCropperBean { private CroppedImage croppedImage; private String newFileName; private String imageName; public String getImageName() { return imageName; } public void setImageName(String imageName) { System.out.println("TEH IMAGE NAME ===="+imageName); this.imageName = imageName; } public String getNewFileName() { return newFileName; } public void setNewFileName(String newFileName) { System.out.println("AAAAAAAAAAAAAA"+this.newFileName); this.newFileName = newFileName; } public CroppedImage getCroppedImage() { return croppedImage; } public void setCroppedImage(CroppedImage croppedImage) { System.out.println("cRRRRRRRRRRRRR"+croppedImage); this.croppedImage = croppedImage; } public ImageCropperBean(){ } public String crop() { System.out.println("WELCOMEMMMMMMMMMMMMMM"); FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance(); ImageCropperBean imageCropperBean = (ImageCropperBean) context.getApplication().evaluateExpressionGet(context, "#{imageCropperBean}", ImageCropperBean.class); ServletContext servletContext = (ServletContext) FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getContext(); newFileName = servletContext.getRealPath("") + File.separator + "cropImage" + File.separator+ "croppedImage.jpg"; System.out.println("FILE NAME NAME NAME NAME "+newFileName); String file = new File(newFileName).getName(); System.out.println("DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD"+file); imageCropperBean.setImageName(file); File fileFolder = new File("e:/Mecherie_project/image_web/WebContent/cropImages",file); System.out.println("FILE ANE"+file); // String target=null; FileImageOutputStream imageOutput; try { imageOutput = new FileImageOutputStream(fileFolder); System.out.println("HHHHHHHHHH=="+imageOutput); imageOutput.write(croppedImage.getBytes(), 0, croppedImage.getBytes().length); imageOutput.close(); FacesMessage msg = new FacesMessage("Succesful", file + " is cropped."); FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addMessage(null, msg); } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { FacesMessage error = new FacesMessage(FacesMessage.SEVERITY_ERROR, "The files were not Cropped!", ""); FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addMessage(null, error); e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); FacesMessage error = new FacesMessage(FacesMessage.SEVERITY_ERROR, "The files were not Cropped!", ""); FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addMessage(null, error); } // System.out.println("ghfhgfghgh"+target); return "success"; } }

  • Trouble displaying an object in WPF

    - by Scott
    I'm so new to this that I can't even phrase the question right... Anyway, I'm trying to do something very simple and have been unable to figure it out. I have the following class: public class Day : Control, INotifyPropertyChanged { public static readonly DependencyProperty DateProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("Date", typeof(int), typeof(Day)); public int Date { get { return (int)GetValue(DateProperty); } set { SetValue(DateProperty, value); if (PropertyChanged != null) { PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("Date")); } } } public static readonly DependencyProperty DayNameProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("DayName", typeof(String), typeof(Day)); public String DayName { get { return (String)GetValue(DayNameProperty); } set { SetValue(DayNameProperty, value); if (PropertyChanged != null) { PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("DayName")); } } } static Day() { DefaultStyleKeyProperty.OverrideMetadata(typeof(Day), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(typeof(Day))); } #region INotifyPropertyChanged Members public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; #endregion } I've learned that you can't call a constructor that has parameters in XAML so the only way to actually set some data for this class is through the two properties, DayName and Date. I created a ControlTemplate for Day which is as follows: <Style TargetType="{x:Type con:Day}"> <Setter Property="MinHeight" Value="20"/> <Setter Property="MinWidth" Value="80"/> <Setter Property="Height" Value="20"/> <Setter Property="Width" Value="80"/> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type con:Day}"> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition/> <ColumnDefinition/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <Rectangle Grid.ColumnSpan="2" x:Name="rectHasEntry" Fill="WhiteSmoke"/> <TextBlock Grid.Column="0" x:Name="textBlockDayName" Text="{TemplateBinding DayName}" FontFamily="Junction" FontSize="11" Background="Transparent" HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" Margin="0,2,0,0"/> <TextBlock Grid.Column="1" x:Name="textBlockDate" Text="{TemplateBinding Date}" FontFamily="Junction" FontSize="11" Background="Transparent" HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center" Margin="0,2,0,0"/> <Rectangle Grid.ColumnSpan="2" x:Name="rectMouseOver" Fill="#A2C0DA" Opacity="0" Style="{StaticResource DayRectangleMouseOverStyle}"/> </Grid> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> I then render it on screen in my MainWindow thusly: <Window x:Class="WPFControlLibrary.TestHarness.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:con="clr-namespace:WPFControlLibrary.Calendar;assembly=WPFControlLibrary" Title="MainWindow" Height="500" Width="525" WindowStartupLocation="CenterScreen"> <Grid> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="*"/> <ColumnDefinition Width="80"/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <con:Day Grid.Column="1" Height="20" Width="80" DayName="Mon" Date="1"/> </Grid> And what I actually see is, well, nothing. If I put my cursor on the con:Day line of the XAML it'll highlight the correctly sized rectangle in the window but I don't see "Mon" on the left side of the rectangle and "1" on the right. What am I doing wrong? I suspect it's something simple but I'll be darned if I'm seeing it. My ultimate goal is to group a bunch of the Day controls within a Month control, which is then contained in a Year control as I'm trying to make a long Calendar Bar that lets you navigate through the months and years, while clicking on a Day would display any information saved on that date. But I can't even get the Day part to display independent of anything else so I'm a long way from the rest of the functionality. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • How to drill down with jQuery?

    - by Timothy Reed
    I'm new to jQuery so sorry if this sounds stupid but I'm having truble drilling down to other elemnts. Paticularly I want to fade in the .menu li a:hover class with jquery. .menu { padding:0; margin:0; list-style:none; } .menu li { float:left; margin-left:1px; } .menu li a { display:block; height:44px; line-height:40px; padding:0 5px; float:right; color:#fff; text-decoration:none; font-family:"Palatino Linotype", "Book Antiqua", Palatino, serif; font-size:12px; font-weight:bold; } .menu li a b { text-transform:uppercase; } .menu li a:hover { color:#E4FFC5; background: url(../images/arrow.png) no-repeat center bottom; } .current { background: url(../images/arrow.png) no-repeat center bottom; font-size:16px; font-weight:bold; } .spacer p { display:block; height:44px; line-height:40px; padding:0 5px; float:right; color:#fff; text-decoration:none; font-family:"Palatino Linotype", "Book Antiqua", Palatino, serif; font-size:12px; font-weight:bold; } <ul class="menu"> <li class="current"><a href="index.html">Home</a></li> <li class="spacer"> <p>|</p> </li> <li><a href="#">Mission &amp; Values </a></li> <li class="spacer"> <p>|</p> </li> <li><a href="#">Caregivers</a></li> <li class="spacer"> <p>|</p> </li> <li><a href="#">Special Programs </a></li> <li class="spacer"> <p>|</p> </li> <li><a href="#">Enployment</a></li> <li class="spacer"> <p>|</p> </li> <li><a href="#">Contact</a></li> </ul> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $('a').mouseover(function() { $('.logo').animate ({opacity:'0.6'}, 'normal'); }); $('a').mouseout (function() { $('.logo').animate ({opacity:'1'}, 'normal'); $('.menu li a:hover').fadeIn ('slow'); }); </script>

  • Slide div inside another div effect

    - by mariki
    I am trying to create sliding images effect: Online demolink text. The problem is when you click rapidly and randomly on the buttons and not wait for animation to finish causing unpredicted results and even stopping the functionality to work. (and once it stopped in the middle of 2 images...) How Can I make it work without bugs? I know that there are some other tools for that sliding like jquery and other approaches like changing the position attribute and not the scrollLeft attribute. But I want to do it as it is, with scrollLeft, if it possible of course. The Code: <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <title>Untitled Document</title> <style type="text/css"> body { padding:0px; margin:0px; } #imageContainer { width: 500px; position: relative; } #div { overflow: hidden; white-space: nowrap; } #div img { cursor: pointer; vertical-align: bottom; width: 500px; padding:0px; margin:0px; display:inline; } </style> <script type="text/javascript"> var scrollIntervalID; var currentIndex=0; function Scroll(ind){ var dir = ind ==currentIndex?0:ind<currentIndex?-1:1; var steps = Math.abs(ind-currentIndex); scrollIntervalID = setInterval(function(){ var i=(steps*10)-1; return function(){ if (i <= 0) clearInterval(scrollIntervalID); var elm = document.getElementById("div"); elm.scrollLeft +=dir * 50; i--; document.getElementById("span").innerHTML=elm.scrollLeft; } }(), 15); currentIndex=ind; } </script> </head> <body> <div id="imageContainer"> <div id="div"> <img id="image1" src="Images/pic1.jpg" width="500px"/><img id="image2" src="Images/pic2.jpg" width="500px"/><img id="image3" src="Images/pic3.jpg" width="500px"/><img id="image4" src="Images/pic4.jpg" width="500px"/> </div> </div> <div> <input type="button" value="1" onclick="Scroll(0);"/> <input type="button" value="2" onclick="Scroll(1);"/> <input type="button" value="3" onclick="Scroll(2);"/> <input type="button" value="4" onclick="Scroll(3);"/> </div> <span id="span"></span> </body> </html>

  • Many DIVs inside parent DIV, CSS height issue

    - by Benjamin
    Hi everyone, I am putting together a dynamic photo gallery and getting stuck trying to place thumbnails. Basically I am trying to place each thumbnail and caption in its own DIV, floated to the left. The thumbnails are working just as I want them to but for some reason the parent DIV refuses to cover the height of the thumbnail area. Here is the CSS I am using.. #galleryBox { width: 650px; background: #fff; margin: auto; padding: 5px; text-align: center; } .item { display: block; margin: 10px; padding: 10px; float: left; background: #353535; min-width: 120px; } .label { display: block; color: #fff; } I have tried height: auto and that hasn't done anything. Here is what I am trying to style: <div id="galleryBox" class="ui-corner-all"> <div class="item ui-corner-all"> <img src="http://tapp-essexvfd.org/images/ajax-loader.gif" alt="test"/><br/> <p><span class="label">Testing</span></p> </div> <div class="item ui-corner-all"> <img src="http://tapp-essexvfd.org/images/ajax-loader.gif" alt="test"/><br/> <p><span class="label">Testing</span></p> </div> <div class="item ui-corner-all"> <img src="http://tapp-essexvfd.org/images/ajax-loader.gif" alt="test"/><br/> <p><span class="label">Testing</span></p> </div> <div class="item ui-corner-all"> <img src="http://tapp-essexvfd.org/images/ajax-loader.gif" alt="test"/><br/> <p><span class="label">Testing</span></p> </div> <div class="item ui-corner-all"> <img src="http://tapp-essexvfd.org/images/ajax-loader.gif" alt="test"/><br/> <p><span class="label">Testing</span></p> </div> <div class="item ui-corner-all"> <img src="http://tapp-essexvfd.org/images/ajax-loader.gif" alt="test"/><br/> <p><span class="label">Testing</span></p> </div> <div class="item ui-corner-all"> <img src="http://tapp-essexvfd.org/images/ajax-loader.gif" alt="test"/><br/> <p><span class="label">Testing</span></p> </div> </div> Thanks!

  • ie9/CSS: Flyout menu not working in ie9, but looks great in Firefox/Chrome

    Please see this flyout menu: http://www.caseen.com/store.html. It looks amazing in both Firefox and Chrome, but not in IE9! Trying to see what is going on =(. It looks like ie9 is completing ignoring the stylesheet, but in error checking and clicking ie9 direct mode, it shows up however VERY ugly with huge nasty white borders around the links! Please see my code: <div class="flyout"> <ul> <!--START: CATEGORIES--> <!--START: CATEGORY_FORMAT--> <li><a href="view_category.asp?cat=CATID">&nbsp;CATEGORY</a> <!--END: CATEGORY_FORMAT--> <ul><!--START: SUB_CATEGORY_FORMAT--> <li><a href="view_category.asp?cat=CATID">&nbsp;CATEGORY</a></li> <!--END: SUB_CATEGORY_FORMAT--></ul> <!--END: CATEGORIES--> </li> </ul> </div> AND CSS .flyout { width: 130px; height: auto; position:relative; margin: -10 0; padding: 0; z-index:10000; } .flyout ul li a { display:block; text-decoration:none; color: #fff; width: 130px; border: solid; border-color: #000; border-width: 0 0 0 5px; text-align:left; font-size:12px; line-height: 25px; } .flyout ul { padding:0px; list-style-type: none; } .flyout ul li { float:left; margin-right:1px; position:relative; } .flyout ul li ul { display: none; } .flyout ul li:hover a { border: solid; border-color: #fff; border-width: 0 2 0 5px; color: #60dfe5; } .flyout ul li:hover ul { display:block; position:absolute; top:0; left:130px; width:10px; } .flyout ul li:hover ul li a.hide { background:#000; color:#fff; } .flyout ul li:hover ul li:hover a.hide {width:180px;} .flyout ul li:hover ul li ul {display: none;} .flyout ul li:hover ul li a { display:block; background:#000; color:#60dfe5; width:200px; } .flyout ul li:hover ul li a:hover { background:#000; color:#fff; } Thanks, Brandon

  • jQuery .append() not working in IE, Safari, and Chrome

    - by mkmcdonald
    So I'm using jQuery's AJAX function to read some XML for me and it's worked just fine. But now I'm trying to manipulate the display property of 4 different dynamically generated divs. The size and x/y of the divs are determined by the XML and are parsed through. My problem lies in the face that these divs either aren't being generated or just don't show up in IE, Safari, and Chrome. In Firefox and Opera, they do work. I'm using jQuery's .append() to create the divs and then the .css() functino to manipulate them. Looking in Chrome's developer tools, I am seeing that the css property being changed in the script is being overridden by the property in the stylesheet. Any fixes? $(document).ready(function(){ $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "generate?test", dataType: "xml", success: function(xml) { $(xml).find('template').each(function(){ var portion = $(this).attr('portion'); var select; var name = $(this).find('$(this):first').text(); var mutability = $(this).attr('mutability'); var x = (parseInt($(this).find('x:first').text())*96)/72; var y = (parseInt($(this).find('y:first').text())*96)/72; switch(portion){ case "stub": select = $('#StubTemplates'); select.append(""+name+""); break; case "body": select = $('#BodyTemplates'); select.append(""+name+""); y = y + 90; break; } switch(mutability){ case "dynamic": var width = (parseInt($(this).find('width:first').text())*96)/72; var height = (parseInt($(this).find('height:first').text())*96)/72; var n = name; switch(portion){ case "stub": $('.ticket').append("") break; case "body": $('.ticket').append(""); break; } var top = $('#'+n).position().top; var left = parseInt($('#'+n).css('margin-left')); $('#'+n).css('top', (y+top)+"px"); $('#'+n).css('margin-left', (x+left)+"px"); $('#'+n).css('width', width+"px"); $('#'+n).css('height', height+"px"); break; case "static": var n = name; switch(portion){ case "stub": $('.ticket').append(""); break; case "body": $('.ticket').append(""); break; } break; } }); var stubActive = false; var bodyActive = false; $('#StubTemplates').find('.ddindent').mouseup(function(){ var tVal = $(this).val(); var tTitle = $(this).attr('title'); if(!stubActive){ $('.stubEditable').css('display', 'none'); $('#'+tVal).css('display', 'block'); stubActive = true; }else{ $('.stubEditable').css('display', 'none'); $('#'+tVal).css('display', 'block'); stubActive = false; } }); $('#StubTemplates').find('#stubTempNone').mouseup(function(){ $('.stubEditable').css('display', 'none'); }); $('#BodyTemplates').find('.ddindent').mouseup(function(){ var tVal = $(this).val(); var tTitle = $(this).attr('title'); if(!bodyActive){ $('.bodyEditable').css('display', 'none'); $('#'+tVal).css('display', 'block'); bodyActive = true; }else{ $('.bodyEditable').css('display', 'none'); $('#'+tVal).css('display', 'block'); bodyActive = false; } }); $('#BodyTemplates').find('#bodyTempNone').mouseup(function(){ $('.bodyEditable').css('display', 'none'); }); } }); });

  • Is there a Google Chrome extension or userscript that will "bottom-justify" form fields?

    - by Dennis Williamson
    When using Google Chrome, I would like to have a page scroll up so the bottom of form fields are at or above the bottom of the window when I click in the text input to begin entering something. However, if the form height is larger than the window, the top should not be scrolled off automatically. I want to go from: to: An bonus essential feature would be for the input box to automatically be resized in height (but not width) to fill the window. This feature ideally would be configurable: enable/disable and margin above and below. There should be no scrolling or resizing for one-line input boxes. Is there an extension or userscript that does something like this?

  • Best way to get back to using the power of lxml after having to use a regex to find something in an

    - by PyNEwbie
    I am trying to rip some text out of a large number of html documents (numbers in the hundreds of thousands). The documents are really forms but they are prepared by a very large group of different organizations so there is significant variation in how they create the document. For example, the documents are divided into chapters. I might want to extract the contents of Chapter 5 from every document so I can analyze the content of the chapter. Initially I thought this would be easy but it turns out that the authors might use a set of non-nested tables throughout the document to hold the content so that Chapter n could be displayed using td tags inside a table. Or they might use other elements such as p tags H tags, div tags or any other block level element. After trying repeatedly to use lxml to help me identify the beginning and end of each chapter I have determined that it is a lot cleaner to use a regular expression because in every case, no matter what the enclosing html element is the chapter label is always in the form of >Chapter # It is a little more complicated in that there might be some white space or non-breaking space represented in different ways (  or   or just spaces). Nonetheless it was trivial to write a regular expression to identify the beginning of each section. (The beginning of one section is the end of the previous section.) But now I want to use lxml to get the text out. My thought is that I have really no choice but to walk along my string to find the close tag for the element that encloses the text I am using to find the relevant section. That is here is one example where the element holding the Chapter name is a div <div style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN-LEFT: 0pt; TEXT-INDENT: 0pt; MARGIN-RIGHT: 0pt" align="left"><font style="DISPLAY: inline; FONT-WEIGHT: bold; FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Times New Roman">Chapter 1.&#160;&#160;&#160;Our Beginnings.</font></div> So I am imagining that I would begin at the location where I found the match for chapter 1 and set up a regular expressions to find the next </div|</td|</p|</h1 . . . So at this point I have identified the type of element holding my chapter heading I can use the same logic to find all of the text that is within that element that is set up a regular expression to help me mark from >Chapter 1.&#160;&#160;&#160;Our Beginnings.< So I have identified where my Chapter 1 begins I can do the same for chapter 2 (which is where Chapter 1 ends) Now I am imagining that I am going to snip the document beginning at the opening of the element that I identified as the element the indicates where chapter 1 begins and ending just before the opening of the element that I identified as the element that indicates where Chapter 2 begins. The string that I have identified will then be fed to lxml to use its power to get the content. I am going to all of this trouble because I have read over and over - never use a regular expression to extract content from html documents and I have not hit on a way to be as accurate with lxml to identify the starting and ending locations for the text I want to extract. For example, I can never be certain that the subtitle of Chapter 1 is Our Beginnings it could be Our Red Canary. Let me say that I spent two solid days trying with lxml to be confident that I had the beginning and ending elements and I could only be accurate <60% of the time but a very short regular expression has given me better than 95% success. I have a tendency to make things more complicated than necessary so I am wondering if anyone has seen or solved a similar problems and if they had an approach (not the details mind you) that they would like to offer.

  • Unable to show Desktop Notifications using Google Chrome

    - by Praveen Kumar
    I followed the instructions as given in Using The Notifications API. Also I faced many problems like the below, because I added the document.querySelector() inside the <head> part: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'addEventListener' of null Now I have the below source, where I am able to Check Notification Support, and Check Notification Permissions links. Guide me how to bring in notifications in a simpler way. Also, I tried this: $("#html").click(function() { if (window.webkitNotifications.checkPermission() == 0) { createNotificationInstance({ notificationType: 'html' }); } else { window.webkitNotifications.requestPermission(); } }); Now I am stuck with this source. • Vertical alignment problem in textbox in Microsoft Word 2007

    - by Surjya Narayana Padhi
    I pardon as its not a programming question at all. But if anybody can answer this it will be usefull for me. In MS word 2007 I drew a textbox and entered some text. Then I right clicked on textbox and went to format shape Then went to TextBox tab and reduced the top internal margin to 0.1 cm. But still it seems there is too much space at the top inside the textbox. I am not able to position the text exactly at the vertical middle of textbox. If I choose the auto-rezide option in format Shape, the textBox size is increases automatically but the text remains exactly at vertical and horizontal middle of textbox. but anyhow I need the textbox to be small. This is very minor but annoying problem. Can anybody help?

  • Indentation-based Folding for TextMate

    - by Craig Walker
    SASS and HAML have indentation-based syntax, much like Python. Blocks of related code have the same number of spaces at the start of a line. Here's some example code: #drawer height: 100% color: #c2c7c4 font: size: 10px .slider overflow: hidden height: 100% .edge background: url('/images/foo') repeat-y .tab margin-top = !drawer_top width: 56px height: 161px display: block I'm using phuibonhoa's SASS bundle, and I'd like to enhance it so that the various sections can fold. For instance, I'd like to fold everything under #drawer, everything under .slider, everything under .edge, etc. The bundle currently includes the following folding code: foldingStartMarker = '/\*|^#|^\*|^\b|^\.'; foldingStopMarker = '\*/|^\s*$'; How can I enhance this to fold similarly-indented blocks?

  • Adding a div layer on top of a jquery carousel. Tough one.

    - by wilwaldon
    Hey everyone, I have a tough one, well it's tough for me because I'm kinda new to the whole jQuery carousel thing, never built one before this project. Here's my problem. If you go to the TEST SITE you will see a scroller with a blue background about half way down the page. If you mouse onto the "data analytics" slide you should see a black box fade in. Here is my dilemma. I want that black box to be a menu that's connected to the data analytics slide. I've done a mock up for you so you can see what I'm talking about. Here is my scroller code. I'm using jCarousel. <div class="carousel"> <ul> <li> <div id="homeslide1"> testers sdfasdfasdfas asdftjhs iasndkad kasdnf <a href="#" id="#homeslide1-toggle">Close this</a> </div> <a href="#" id="homeslide1-show"><img src="<?php bloginfo('template_url'); ?>/images/home_data_analytics.jpg" width="200" height="94" /></a> </li> <li><img src="<?php bloginfo('template_url'); ?>/images/home_oem_partnerships.jpg" width="200" height="94" /></li> <li><img src="<?php bloginfo('template_url'); ?>/images/home_reporting.jpg" width="200" height="92" /></li> <li><img src="<?php bloginfo('template_url'); ?>/images/home_returning_lost_customers.jpg" width="200" height="92" /></li> <li><img src="<?php bloginfo('template_url'); ?>/images/home_sales.jpg" width="200" height="92" /></li> <li><img src="<?php bloginfo('template_url'); ?>/images/home_service_retention.jpg" width="200" height="92" /></li> </ul> Here is my scroller css /*HOMEPAGE SCROLLER*/ .carousel {!important padding:10px; width: 890px; margin: 0px 0px 0px 26px;} .carousel ul li element.style{height: 94px;} .carousel ul{width: 200px; padding: 5px;} .carouselitem{height: 94px;} .prev{background: url(images/home_left_scroll.png); height: 94px; width: 16px; text-indent: -999px; outline: none; cursor:pointer; float: left;} .next{background: url(images/home_right_scroll.png); height: 94px; width: 16px; text-indent: -999px; outline: none; cursor:pointer; float: right;} .carousel ul li{ padding: 0px 3px 0px 3px; margin: 0px; height:!important 94px; } .home_right_arrow{ width: 16px; float: right;} .home_left_arrow{ width: 16px; float: left;} .homeslide1{ width: 200px; height: 94px;} I've tried all sorts of z-index tricks but can't seem to figure it out on my own. If you solve this riddle I'll buy you a beer if we ever meet up. I'll also give you a high five through the internet. Is there a simple way to do this via jQuery? If so could you point me in the right direction? Thanks so much.

  • How to configure mspaint on Windows Server 2008R2/ Win 7 to start up with 1-pixel canvas or auto-crop a pasted image?

    - by Fantomas
    I do a lot of screen print capturing, and I have just figured out how to use AutoHotKey to paste screen prints into MsPaint automatically. How to paste Print Screen on MS Paint automatically when press "PrtSc" button ? However, one small problem I have is that ... if I grabbed a screen with Alt-Prt Scr that is only 50x50 pixels, then there would be extra white margin around it, because MSPaint starts out with a larger canvas by default. How can I make it ALWAYS start with 1x1 instead?

  • CSS menu items flickering in IE6

Here's the HTML: <ul id="menu_nav"> <li> <a href="#" class="button">Home</a> <span> <a href="#">Home Link1</a> <a href="#">Home Link2</a> <a href="#">Home Link3</a> </span> </li> <li> <a href="#" class="button">About Us</a> <span> <a href="#">About Link1</a> <a href="#">About Link2</a> <a href="#">About Link3</a> </span> </li> </ul> Here's the CSS ul#menu_nav { position:relative; float:left; width:790px; padding:0; margin:0; list-style-type:none; background-color:#000099; } ul#menu_nav li {float: left; margin: 0; padding: 0; border-right: 1px solid #555;} ul#menu_nav li a.button { float:left; text-decoration:none; color:white; background-color:#000099; padding:0.2em 0.6em; border-right:1px solid #CCCCCC; font-family: Tahoma; font-size: 11px; font-style: normal; font-weight: bold; position: relative; height: 21px; line-height:1.85em; } ul#menu_nav li a:hover { background-color:#F7F7F7; color:#000099; border-top:1px solid #CCCCCC; } ul#menu_nav li span{ float: left; padding: 15px 0; position: absolute; left: 0; top:25px; display: none; /*--Hide by default--*/ width: 790px; background: #F7F7F7; color: #fff; } ul#menu_nav li:hover span { display: block; } /*--Show subnav on hover--*/ ul#menu_nav li span a { display: inline; } /*--Since we declared a link style on the parent list link, we will correct it back to its original state--*/ ul#menu_nav li span a:hover {text-decoration: underline;} Heres the jquery: $("ul#menu_nav li").hover(function() { //Hover over event on list item $(this).css({ 'background' : '#1376c9'}); //Add background color and image on hovered list item $(this).find("span").show(); //Show the subnav } , function() { //on hover out... $(this).css({ 'background' : 'none'}); //Ditch the background $(this).find("span").hide(); //Hide the subnav });
