  • Magento layout related basic Questions ?

    Here is what I think about Magento (plz correct me if I am wrong ) 1)Each module has its own layout.xml stored in /interface/theme/layouts/ folder. 2)Magento loads all these layouts for current theme and creates a big xml file. Now what I am confused at . a)If magento loads /default/default/ (interface & theme) then why all the templates & layouts are inside base/default/ ?? b)what if I create my module name “page” inside my namespace “Jason” i.e Jason_Page , now what will happen to blocks in layout files which are named c)Since all the layouts are loaded and merged into one big xml file , then what happen to all those reference blocks which have same name attribute and are inside “Default” handle tag ? e.g d)what is Local.xml layout for and its use ?? e)wats the relation ship between a module name foo , and its layout name foo.xml ? What will happen to layout.xml if two modules with same name exist in diff namespace ? Thanks in advance .

  • CALayer Border is appearing above subview (Z-order related, I think)

    I have searched but could not find the reason for this behavior. I have a UIButton whose image I am setting. Here is how the button should appear. Note that this is just a photoshop of the intended button design: Essentially, it is a square custom UIButton with a white border and a little surrounding shadow. In the upper right corner, there is a "X" mark, that will be added programmatically as a subview. Here is the screenshot of the button within the actual app. At this point, I have only added a shadow and the X mark as a subview: How, when I try to add the white border, here is what it looks like: It seems that the white border is appearing above the X mark sublayer. I don't know why.     I have a note class that belongs to a user (ie a user can create many notes). clip from my notes controller class NotesController < ApplicationController before_filter :authenticate_user! respond_to :html, :xml, :json # GET /notes # GET /notes.xml def index @notes = Note.includes(:user).order("created_at DESC") respond_with @notes end When I ask for the index in json results for example /notes.json, it returns the notes but only returns user_id for the user object. I would like it to also include user.username (and would be curious how to have the whole user object embedded). Bonus question: I could not find a way to make the column show as author_id and have it relate back to user. If this is easy to do, how do you do it?
