  • Android SlidingDrawer in Eclipse IDE

    - by user295447
    I am trying to design an application for Android that makes use of the SlidingDrawer, but I have not been able to use the form (layout?) designer to add this element without producing an exception "IllegalArgumentException: The handle attribute is required and must refer to a valid child." As of March 17th, I believe I have everything up to date (Eclipse, and the Android SDK). All the SDK components have been installed. I have created two Android virtual devices, One for version 1.0, and one for version 2.1 when I figured out that 1.0 didn't support the SlidingDrawer. I have tried importing the samples provided in the SDK, as well as several other layouts from the web that I have found, all of which produce this same exception. My programming background is mostly C++, and I consider myself to be a novice programmer, so feel free to talk to me as if I were an idiot so that I will understand. ^^;

  • iphone - creating a reference to a MPMoviePlayerController

    - by Mike
    At some point in my code I am creating a MPMoviePlayerController object and playing it. As I need to reference this object at some other methods in my code that runs asynchronously, I need to store a pointer to the movie object etc., so I can use that. Declaring MPMoviePlayerController * myMovie on the header file is out of question, because the compiler will give me an error saying "expected specifier-qualifier-list before 'MPMoviePlayerController'". If it was a view I could do something like [self.view viewWithTag:99]; to get the object, but the MPMoviePlayerController does not allow this. How can I obtain the movie object or store a reference to it, so I can call the object in other methods? thanks for any help.

  • Create a subarray reference in C# (using unsafe ?)

    - by Wam
    Hello there, I'm refactoring a library we currently use, and I'm faced with the following problem. We used to have the following stuff : class Blah { float[][] data; public float[] GetDataReference(int index) { return data[index]; } } For various reasons, I have replaced this jagged array version with a 1 dimensionnal array version, concatenating inner arrays. My question is : how can I still return a reference to a sub array of data ? class Blah { float[] data; int rows; public float[] GetDataReference(int index) { // Return a reference data from offset i to offset j; } } I was thinking that unsafe and pointers stuff may be of use, is it doable ?

  • How to change VS2010 Add Reference box filter ?

    - by rook
    I'm getting used to the new IDE (it's vc# express), but the first contact is somewhat confusing. When I open the Add Reference dialog and switch to the .NET tab, a label above the assembly list states: "Filtered to:.NET Framework 4". And it's true - I can reference .NET 4.0 assemblies only plus things like XNA 3.1. However I can't see older assemblies i.e. Managed DirectX libs, which are obviously installed on my computer as there was no trouble with adding a ref to them in vc#08. What is this? How to change the filter? The label is read-only. These sound like dull guy's questions, but I'm out of lack of finding an answer and there is no intuitive solution. Thanks in advance.

  • Exceptions with DateTime parsing in RSS feed in C#

    - by hIpPy
    I'm trying to parse Rss2, Atom feeds using SyndicationFeedFormatter and SyndicationFeed objects. But I'm getting XmlExceptions while parsing DateTime field like pubDate and/or lastBuildDate. Wed, 24 Feb 2010 18:56:04 GMT+00:00 does not work Wed, 24 Feb 2010 18:56:04 GMT works So, it's throwing due to the timezone field. As a workaround, for familiar feeds I would manually fix those DateTime nodes - by catching the XmlException, loading the Rss into an XmlDocument, fixing those nodes' value, creating a new XmlReader and then returning the formatter from this new XmlReader object (code not shown). But for this approach to work, I need to know beforehand which nodes cause exception. SyndicationFeedFormatter syndicationFeedFormatter = null; XmlReaderSettings settings = new XmlReaderSettings(); using (XmlReader reader = XmlReader.Create(url, settings)) { try { syndicationFeedFormatter = SyndicationFormatterFactory.CreateFeedFormatter(reader); syndicationFeedFormatter.ReadFrom(reader); } catch (XmlException xexp) { // fix those datetime nodes with exceptions and read again. } return syndicationFeedFormatter; } rss feed: http://news.google.com/news?pz=1&cf=all&ned=us&hl=en&q=test&cf=all&output=rss exception detials: XmlException Error in line 1 position 376. • Column cannot be added because its CellType property is null exception

    - by niko
    Hi, I have trouble with the following piece of code. When I go through with the debugger I get an exception when it comes to the following line: dgvCalls.Columns.Insert(1, msisnnColumn); I get an exception: Column cannot be added because its CellType property is null. Oddly, I created the same procedure for some other DataGridViews and it worked fine. if (!(dgvCalls.Columns.Contains("DirectionImage"))) { directionIconColumn = new DataGridViewImageColumn(); directionIconColumn.Name = "DirectionImage"; directionIconColumn.HeaderText = ""; dgvCalls.Columns.Insert(0, directionIconColumn); directionIconColumn.CellTemplate = new DataGridViewImageCell(); } if (!(dgvCalls.Columns.Contains("msisndColumn"))) { msisnnColumn = new DataGridViewColumn(); msisnnColumn.Name = "msisndColumn"; msisnnColumn.HeaderText = "Klic"; dgvCalls.Columns.Insert(1, msisnnColumn); msisnnColumn.CellTemplate = new DataGridViewTextBoxCell(); } Any suggestions?

  • How to debug nHibernate/RhinoMocks TypeInitializer exception

    - by Joe Future
    Pulling my hair out trying to debug this one. Earlier this morning, this code was working fine, and I can't see what I've changed to break it. Now, whenever I try to open an nHibernate session, I'm getting the following error: Test method BCMS.Tests.Repositories.BlogBlogRepositoryTests.can_get_recent_blog_posts threw exception: System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'NHibernate.Cfg.Environment' threw an exception. --- System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationException: Type is not resolved for member 'Castle.DynamicProxy.Serialization.ProxyObjectReference,Rhino.Mocks, Version=3.5.0.1337, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=0b3305902db7183f'.. Any thoughts on how to debug what's going on here?

  • SQL Server Express 2005 Merge Replication using RMO causes Null Reference exception

    - by Craig Shearer
    I'm trying to use RMO to programmatically perform merge synchronization. I've basically copied the SQL Server example code, as follows: // Create a connection to the Subscriber. ServerConnection conn = new ServerConnection(subscriberName); MergePullSubscription subscription; try { // Connect to the Subscriber. conn.Connect(); // Define the pull subscription. subscription = new MergePullSubscription(subscriptionDbName, publisherName, publicationDbName, publicationName, conn, false); // If the pull subscription exists, then start the synchronization. if (subscription.LoadProperties()) { // Check that we have enough metadata to start the agent. if (subscription.PublisherSecurity != null || subscription.DistributorSecurity != null) { subscription.SynchronizationAgent.Synchronize(); } else { throw new ApplicationException("There is insufficent metadata to " + "synchronize the subscription. Recreate the subscription with " + "the agent job or supply the required agent properties at run time."); } } else { // Do something here if the pull subscription does not exist. throw new ApplicationException(String.Format( "A subscription to '{0}' does not exist on {1}", publicationName, subscriberName)); } } catch (Exception ex) { // Implement appropriate error handling here. throw new ApplicationException("The subscription could not be " + "synchronized. Verify that the subscription has " + "been defined correctly.", ex); } finally { conn.Disconnect(); } I've got the server merge publication defined correctly, but when I run the above code, I get a null reference exception on the call to: subscription.SynchronizationAgent.Synchronize(); The stack trace is as follows: at Microsoft.SqlServer.Replication.MergeSynchronizationAgent.StatusEventSinkMethod(String message, Int32 percent, Int32* returnValue) at Test.ConsoleTest.Program.SynchronizePullSubscription() in F:\Visual Studio Projects\Test\source\Test.ConsoleTest\Program.cs:line 124 It seems, from the stack trace, like something to do with the Status event, but I don't have a handler defined, and defining one makes no difference.

  • Argument exception after trying to use TryGetObjectByKey

    Hi, EDIT: Somethings wrong.... I have to use objectContext.Frontpages.ToArray() before I can use TryGetObjectByEntityKey(). Any ideas anyone? I'm trying to retrieve an object from my database using entity (framework 4) When I use the following code it gives an ArgumentException: An item with the same key has already been added. if (databaseContext.TryGetObjectByKey(entityKey, out result)) { return (result != null && result is TEntityObject) ? result as TEntityObject : null; } else { return null; } When I check the objectContext, I see the entities, but only if I enumerate the specific list of entities manually using VS2010, it works. What am I missing? Do I have to do something else before i can get the item from the database? • Strange exception when connecting to a WCF service via a proxy server

    - by Slauma
    The exception "This operation is not supported for a relative URI." occurs in the following situation: I have a WCF service: [ServiceContract(ProtectionLevel=ProtectionLevel.None)] public interface IMyService { [OperationContract] [FaultContract(typeof(MyFault))] List<MyDto> MyOperation(int param); // other operations } public class MyService : IMyService { public List<MyDto> MyOperation(int param) { // Do the business stuff and return a list of MyDto } // other implementations } MyFault and MyDto are two very simple classes marked with [DataContract] attribute and each only having three [DataMember] of type string, int and int?. This service is hosted in IIS 7.0 on a Win 2008 Server along with an ASP.NET application. I am using an SVC file MyService.svc which is located directly in the root of the web site. The service configuration in web.config is the following: <system.serviceModel> <services> <service name="MyServiceLib.MyService"> <endpoint address="" binding="wsHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="wsHttpBindingConfig" contract="MyServiceLib.IMyService" /> </service> </services> <bindings> <wsHttpBinding> <binding name="wsHttpBindingConfig"> <security mode="None"> <transport clientCredentialType="None" /> </security> </binding> </wsHttpBinding> </bindings> <behaviors> <serviceBehaviors> <behavior> <serviceMetadata httpGetEnabled="false"/> <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="false" /> </behavior> </serviceBehaviors> </behaviors> </system.serviceModel> This seems to work so far as I can enter the address http://www.domain.com/MyService.svc in a browser and get the "This is a Windows Communication Foundation Service"-Welcome page. One of the clients consuming the service is a console application: MyServiceClient aChannel = new MyServiceClient("WSHttpBinding_IMyService"); List<MyDto> aMyDtoList = aChannel.MyOperation(1); It has the following configuration: <system.serviceModel> <bindings> <wsHttpBinding> <binding name="WSHttpBinding_IMyService" closeTimeout="00:01:00" openTimeout="00:01:00" receiveTimeout="00:10:00" sendTimeout="00:01:00" bypassProxyOnLocal="true" transactionFlow="false" hostNameComparisonMode="StrongWildcard" maxBufferPoolSize="524288" maxReceivedMessageSize="65536" messageEncoding="Text" textEncoding="utf-8" useDefaultWebProxy="false" proxyAddress="10.20.30.40:8080" allowCookies="false"> <readerQuotas maxDepth="32" maxStringContentLength="8192" maxArrayLength="16384" maxBytesPerRead="4096" maxNameTableCharCount="16384" /> <reliableSession ordered="true" inactivityTimeout="00:10:00" enabled="false" /> <security mode="None"> <transport clientCredentialType="Windows" proxyCredentialType="None" realm="" /> <message clientCredentialType="Windows" negotiateServiceCredential="true" /> </security> </binding> </wsHttpBinding> </bindings> <client> <endpoint address="http://www.domain.com/MyService.svc" binding="wsHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="WSHttpBinding_IMyService" contract="MyService.IMyService" name="WSHttpBinding_IMyService" /> </client> </system.serviceModel> When I run this application at a production server at a customer site calling aChannel.MyOperation(1) throws the following exception: This operation is not supported for a relative URI. When I run this client application on my development PC with exactly the same config, with the exception that I remove proxyAddress="10.20.30.40:8080" from the bindings the operation works without problems. Now I really don't know what specifying a proxy server address might have to do with absolute or relative URIs. The use of the proxy server or not is the only difference I can see when running the client on the production or on the development machine. Does someone have an idea what this exception might mean in this context and how possibly to solve the problem? Thank you in advance for help!

  • Convert an exception into HTTP 404 response in the Application_Error

    - by Dmitriy Nagirnyak
    Hi, First of all, quickly what exactly I want to achieve: translate particular exception into the HTTP 404 so the ASP.NET can handle it further. I am handling exceptions in the ASP.NET (MVC2) this way: protected void Application_Error(object sender, EventArgs e) { var err = Server.GetLastError(); if (err == null) return; err = err.GetBaseException(); var noObject = err as ObjectNotFoundException; if (noObject != null) HandleObjectNotFound(); var handled = noObject != null; if (!handled) Logger.Fatal("Unhandled exception has occured in application.", err); } private void HandleObjectNotFound() { Server.ClearError(); Response.Clear(); // new HttpExcepton(404, "Not Found"); // Throw or not to throw? Response.StatusCode = 404; Response.StatusDescription = "Not Found"; Response.StatusDescription = "Not Found"; Response.Write("The whole HTML body explaining whata 404 is??"); } The problem is that I cannot configure default customErrors to work with it. When it is on then it never redirects to the page specified in customErrors: <error statusCode="404" redirect="404.html"/>. I also tried to raise new HttpExcepton(404, "Not Found") from the handler but then the response code is 200 which I don't understand why. So the questions are: What is the proper way of translating AnException into HTTP 404 response? How does customErrors section work when handling exceptions in Application_Error? Why throwing HttpException(404) renders (blank) page with success (200) status? Thanks, Dmitriy.

  • When adding WCF service reference, configuration details are not added to web.config

    - by Mikey Cee
    Hi, I am trying to add a WCF service reference to my web application using VS2010. It seems to add OK, but the web.config is not updated, meaning I get a runtime exception: Could not find default endpoint element that references contract 'CoolService.CoolService' in the ServiceModel client configuration section. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no endpoint element matching this contract could be found in the client element. Obviously, because the service is not defined in my web.config. Steps to reproduce: Right click solution Add New Project ASP.NET Empty Web Application. Right click Service References in the new web app Add Service Reference. Enter address of my service and click Go. My service is visible in the left-hand Services section, and I can see all its operations. Type a namespace for my service. Click OK. The service reference is generated correctly, and I can open the Reference.cs file, and it all looks OK. Open the web.config file. It is still empty! <system.web> <compilation debug="true" targetFramework="4.0" /> </system.web> <system.serviceModel> <bindings /> <client /> </system.serviceModel> Why is this happening? It also happens with a console application, or any other project type I try. Any help? • Unresolved Host Exception Android

    - by Rob Stevenson-Leggett
    I'm trying to call a RESTful web service from an Android application using the following method: HttpHost target = new HttpHost("http://" + ServiceWrapper.SERVER_HOST,ServiceWrapper.SERVER_PORT); HttpGet get = new HttpGet("/list"); String result=null; HttpEntity entity = null; HttpClient client = new DefaultHttpClient(); try { HttpResponse response=client.execute(target, get); entity = response.getEntity(); result = EntityUtils.toString(entity); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } finally { if (entity!=null) try { entity.consumeContent(); } catch (IOException e) {} } return result; I can browse to address and see the xml results using the Android Emulator browser and from my machine. I have given my app the INTERNET permission. I'm developing with eclipse. I've seen it mentioned that I might need to configure a proxy but since the web service i'm calling is on port 80 this shouldn't matter should it? I can call the method with the browser. Any ideas?

  • malloc: error checking and freeing memory

    - by yCalleecharan
    Hi, I'm using malloc to make an error check of whether memory can be allocated or not for the particular array z1. ARRAY_SIZE is a predefined with a numerical value. I use casting as I've read it's safe to do so. long double *z1 = (long double *)malloc(sizeof (long double) * ARRAY_SIZE); if(z1 == NULL){ printf("Out of memory\n"); exit(-1); } The above is just a snippet of my code, but when I add the error checking part (contained in the if statement above), I get a lot of compile time errors with visual studio 2008. It is this error checking part that's generating all the errors. What am I doing wrong? On a related issue with malloc, I understand that the memory needs to be deallocated/freed after the variable/array z1 has been used. For the array z1, I use: free(z1); z1 = NULL; Is the second line z1 = NULL necessary? Thanks a lot...

  • Handling exception from unmanaged dll in C#

    - by StuffHappens
    Hello. I have the following function written in C# public static string GetNominativeDeclension(string surnameNamePatronimic) { if(surnameNamePatronimic == null) throw new ArgumentNullException("surnameNamePatronimic"); IntPtr[] ptrs = null; try { ptrs = StringsToIntPtrArray(surnameNamePatronimic); int resultLen = MaxResultBufSize; int err = decGetNominativePadeg(ptrs[0], ptrs[1], ref resultLen); ThrowException(err); return IntPtrToString(ptrs, resultLen); } catch { return surnameNamePatronimic; } finally { FreeIntPtr(ptrs); } } Function decGetNominativePadeg is in unmanaged dll [DllImport("Padeg.dll", EntryPoint = "GetNominativePadeg")] private static extern Int32 decGetNominativePadeg(IntPtr surnameNamePatronimic, IntPtr result, ref Int32 resultLength); and throws an exception: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. The catch that is in C# code doesn't actually catch it. Why? How to handle this exception? Thank you for your help!

  • Silverlight WCF method calls fails if WCF service is not running initially

    - by Craig
    Quite simply I have a generic Silverlight 3.0 web page that is calling a Ping method on a WCF service. I do not have the WCF service running initially when I navigate to this Silverlight page. As expected I get a communication exception when I press the Silverlight button to call the Ping method, which I catch. Now if I start the WCF service and press the Ping button I still get the communication exception. How come? The other scenario is the WCF is running when I navigate to the SL page and the Ping method call works. I turn off the WCF service, ping method fails. Turn it back on and the ping method succeeds. How come if it's not running initially the ping method fails always? I could include some sample code if you'd like but this is just a real simple Hello World example using basichttpbinding, straight out the book. Thanks, Craig

  • Iphone SQLite Databse with german umlauts results in NULL value

    - by Daniel
    Hi guys, I'm quite new to the Iphone development and after search for an answer for 3 hours now, I hope that you guys can give me a hand. My problem is that I have a SQLite Database with german umlauts. Looking at it with a SQLite browser tool shows me that the data is stored with german umlauts, correctly. But selecting fields with german umlauts in it results in a NULL value. I'm already using "stringWithUTF8String", so I don't get the point where the problem is placed. Here is my code: -(void) readSearchFromDatabase { searchFlag = YES; // Setup the database object sqlite3 *database; // Init the SCode Array searchSCodes = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; // Open the database from the users filessytem if(sqlite3_open([databasePath UTF8String], &database) == SQLITE_OK) { NSString *wildcard =@"%"; // Setup the SQL Statement and compile it NSString *sql = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"SELECT * FROM scode WHERE ta LIKE '%@%@%@' OR descriptionde LIKE '%@%@%@' OR descriptionen LIKE '%@%@%@'", wildcard, searchBar.text, wildcard, wildcard, searchBar.text, wildcard, wildcard, searchBar.text, wildcard, wildcard, searchBar.text, wildcard]; //Creating a const char SQL Statement especially for SQLite const char *sqlStatement = [sql UTF8String]; sqlite3_stmt *compiledStatement; if(sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, sqlStatement, -1, &compiledStatement, NULL) == SQLITE_OK) { // Loop through the results and add them to the feeds array while(sqlite3_step(compiledStatement) == SQLITE_ROW) { // Read the data from the result row NSString *aTa = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 0)]; NSString *aReport = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 1)]; NSString *aDescriptionDE = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 2)]; NSString *aDescriptionEN = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 3)]; //Results a NULL value NSLog(@"Output: %@", aDescriptionDE); // Create a new SCode object with the data from the database SCode *searchSCode = [[SCode alloc] initWithTa:aTa report:aReport descriptionDE:aDescriptionDE descriptionEN:aDescriptionEN]; // Add the SCode object to the SCodes Array [searchSCodes addObject:searchSCode]; [searchSCode release]; } } // Release the compiled statement from memory sqlite3_finalize(compiledStatement); } sqlite3_close(database); }

  • Writing files in App_Data causes tempdata to be null

    - by RAMX
    I have a small asp.net MVC 1 web app that can store files and create directories in the App_Data directory. When the write operation succeeds, I add a message to the tempdata and do a redirectToRoute. The problem is that the tempdata is null when the action is executed. If i write the files in a directory outside of the web applications root directory, the tempdata is not null and everything works correctly. Any ideas why writing in the app_data seems to clear the tempdata ? edit: if DRS.Logic.Repository.Manager.CreateFile(path, hpf, comment) writes in the App_Data, TempData will be null in the action being redirected to. if it is a directory out of the web app root it is fine. No exceptions are being thrown. [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Create(int id, string path, FormCollection form) { ViewData["path"] = path; ViewData["id"] = id; HttpPostedFileBase hpf; string comment = form["FileComment"]; hpf = Request.Files["File"] as HttpPostedFileBase; if (hpf.ContentLength != 0) { DRS.Logic.Repository.Manager.CreateFile(path, hpf, comment); TempData["notification"] = "file was created"; return RedirectToRoute(new { controller = "File", action ="ViewDetails", id = id, path = path + Path.GetFileName(hpf.FileName) }); } else { TempData["notification"] = "No file were selected."; return View(); } }
