    I get this exception after i removed from my project the jars (pdfbox ,bouncycastle etc) and moved them to another folder but i included them in the build path ... at the first line eclipse shows this error( the constructor PDFParser(InputStream) refers to missing type InputStream) -altought FileInputStream is extended from InputStream- and i don't know why?   • Calling SetWindowsHookEx inside VS2008 debugger always returns NULL

    we're working on a .Net application that does a low level keyboard hook. When we call the SetWindowsHookEx running inside the debugger the call always fail. When running from the compiled executable everything works fine. If we attach to the processs the the SetWindowsHookEx has been called everything works too. I've read somewhere (I can not remember) that VS already does a low level keyboard hook but this shouldn't be a problem as there is the CallNextHook function. Someone knows what's happening? EDIT: The code is pretty straigfoward, the exception is thrown inside debugger but not outside.     I'm trying to return an ID's last 4 years of data, if existing. The table (call it A_TABLE) looks like this: ID, Year, Val The idea behind the query is this: for each ID/Year in the table, LEFT JOIN with Year-1, Year-2, and Year-3 (to get 4 years of data) and then return Val for each year. Here's the SQL: SELECT a.ID, a.year AS [Year], a.Val AS VAL, a1.year AS [Year-1], a1.Val AS [VAL-1], a2.year AS [Year-2], a2.Val AS [VAL-2], a3.year AS [Year-3], a3.Val AS [VAL-3] FROM ( ([A_TABLE] AS a LEFT JOIN [A_TABLE] AS a1 ON (a.ID = a1.ID) AND (a.year = a1.year+1)) LEFT JOIN [A_TABLE] AS a2 ON (a.ID = a2.ID) AND (a.year = a2.year+2)) LEFT JOIN [A_TABLE] AS a3 ON (a.ID = a3.ID) AND (a.year = a3.year+3) The problem is that, for past years where there is no data (eg, Year-1), I see "#Error" in the appropriate VAL column (eg, [VAL-1]). The weird thing is, I see the expected "null" in the Year column (eg, [YEAR-1]). Why am I getting the appropriate NULL val for the non-existent YEARs, but an #Error for the non-existent VALs? (This is Access 2000. Conditional statements like "IIf(a1.val is null, -999, a1.val)" do not seem to do anything.) EDIT: It turns out that the errors are somehow caused by the fact that A_TABLE is actually a query. When I put all the data into an actual table and run the same query, everything shows up as it should. Thanks for the help, everyone.

Unfortunately, Perl special cases exceptions during DESTROY both by adding "(in cleanup)" to the message and making them untrappable. Currently the exception is totally swallowed by the eval. This is for Test::Builder2, so I cannot use anything but pure Perl. The underlying issue is I have code like this: { $self->setup; $user_code->(); $self->cleanup; } That cleanup must happen even if the $user_code dies, else $self gets into a weird state. So I did this: { $self->setup; my $guard = Guard->new(sub { $self->cleanup }); $user_code->(); } The complexity comes because the cleanup runs arbitrary user code and it is a use case where that code will die. I expect that exception to be trappable and unaltered by the guard. I'm avoiding wrapping everything in eval blocks because of the way that alters the stack.

    Hi, I'm creating some text boxes on my form programatically which I need to reference later using FindControl. I've put the FindControl instruction in the page load method after the code which creates them but get an error: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." I assume this is because the textbox controls are not created until later in the lifecycle and therefore cannot be referenced from within Page_Load. Can someone advise where in my code-behind I would need to place the FindControl instruction so that it can find these programatically created text boxes?

The problem is that when WPF crashes, it brings down the whole WinForms app with it. *Edit what if instead of launching the WPF window directly, i launched an "Application" which than defined a start window?? is that possible/advisable?

I debugged for the reason and over an hour later I realized, that the problem wasn't the code producing the exception, but some code executed before this returning wrong data. If I dived into this, I encountered the following: try { ... } catch (XYException e){} If the Exception would have been propagated (a change I did), I would have found the reason for the bugs in a few minutes, as the stacktrace had pointed me to the problem. So how can I convince other developers to never catch and ignore exceptions in this way?

    Hi there, I'm facing a situation where I have dependent objects and I would like to be able to remove an object and all references to it. Say I have an object structure like the code below, with a Branch type which references two Nodes. public class Node { // Has Some Data! } public class Branch { // Contains references to Nodes public Node NodeA public Node NodeB } public class Graph { public List<Node> Nodes; public List<Branch> Branches; } If I remove a Node from the Nodes list in the Graph class, it is still possible that one or more Branch objects still contains a reference to the removed Node, thus retaining it in memory, whereas really what I would quite like would be to set any references to the removed Node to null and let the garbage collection kick in. Other than enumerating through each Branch and checking each Node reference sequentially, are there any smart ideas on how I remove references to the Node in each Branch instance AND indeed any other class which reference the removed Node? After analyzing the dumps through windbg, I concluded that the crash had occurred in the catch() itself :) What I need to know is what exception caused the the failure in the first place i.e. I need that penultimate(last but one th) exception that had occurred.     In the Google Chrome debugger, I often want to get a reference to a node in the DOM tree. I can click the "magnifying glass" button and then click the desired element in the browser window to select the corresponding node in the DOM tree displayed in the debugger. But how can I get a reference to that node in the console? If the element has an id, document.getElementById works, but if there is no id, is there a better alternative to XPath or manual traversal of the DOM tree using children? In case XPath is the best way, is there a better way than doing something like this: var evaluator = new XPathEvaluator(); var result = evaluator.evaluate("//div", document.documentElement, null, XPathResult.FIRST_ORDERED_NODE_TYPE, null); which is a pain to type out each time.

    I've got an ASP.NET WebForms app that I've written, which uses the ASP.NET AJAX Toolkit. I've put the MultiView control onto the web form, and it worked fine, when I had it under Vista. Well, I had to replace my machine (HD failed) and I went to Windows 7 Ultimate. I tried copying the ASP.NET app from the system (before it finally failed for good) and put it onto the Windows 7 machine. I can bring up the app fine, go to all pages, but the one with these controls on it. When I do I get the following error: Security Exception Description: The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file. Exception Details: System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. What's going on? How do I fix it?

The directory targetPath is even checked for existence before the copy code is executed and the filename looks like this: AB_timestamp.xml The user has write permissions to the targetPath and can copy the file without problems using the OS. As I don't have access to a machine this happens on yet and can't reproduce the problem on my own machine I turn to you for hints on the reason for this exception.
