• Leapfrog Crammer won't mount as a USB flash drive

- by William
I can't seem to get the Leapfrog Crammer study and sound system to show up as a flash drive under ubuntu so I can transfer stuff to it. I don't want to install the leapfrog bloatware, can someone help me with this? Additional Information: When I plug my crammer into my computer it shows a 1 MB file system with a link to download the crammer software. I want to know how to access the rest of the crammer's file system so I can transfer music to it. The crammer does not show any other partitions in natulius. According to an article on the internet, the crammed is divided into three partitions: One with a link to install the crammer software, one with all content(music, flash cards, etc.) and one for firmware. I want to know how to access the one with the content so I can add music to the player. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance.

• Port flash game to native android

- by wirate
Alright here is the problem: the creators of a quite popular flash-based game have asked me to port their game to Android. They are not interested in any other platforms so we don't need to be worrying about iOS or PC. They want the best performance on just Android (I guess that's the point of porting a flash-based game. They could have just went with it) They found Unity 'slow'. How would the performance (on android) of other engines compare? Are they expecting too much i.e. finding Unity slow? I am in favor of Unity since development is a little easier with more things being visual (I am not experienced as you might have guessed). This would be an example of the type of game I am to port Thanks!

• Excel 2007: Using a time to set XY chart axis scaling like in 2003

- by CookieOfFortune
In Excel 2003, when you created a XY chart using time as an axis, you could set the scaling of these axes by typing in the date. In Excel 2007, you have to use the decimal version of the time (eg. How many days since some arbitrary earlier date). I was wondering if there was a way to avoid having to make such a calculation? A developer posted on a blog that this issue would be fixed in a future release, but all versions of Excel 2007 I have tried have not resolved this issue. The relevant quote: Those of you familiar with this technique of converting time to a decimal may recall that Excel 2003 allowed you to enter a date and time like “1/1/07 11:00 AM” directly in the axis option min/max fields and Excel would calculate the appropriate decimal representation. This currently does not work in Excel 2007 but will be fixed in a subsequent release.

• Changing Text in Visio Org Chart Shape Changes Multiple Shapes' Text

- by Eric
I have inherited an organizational chart that was created in Visio 2003. I am updating it with Visio 2007. When changing the text in one shape, such as a person's title, multiple shapes nearby change their text to the same. For example, if I change Bob's title from Programmer to Programmer/DBA then Wendy's text will change to "Bob - Programmer/DBA". Some changes update three or four other boxes. Some changes will only update one box. My thought is the originator copied or duplicated the one box to create multiple boxes and it created some type of link between them. How do I remove this link? Thanks!

• Manually "draw" data for chart, output to CSV

- by Ambidex
I need a service that will allow me to draw a chart line by hand and generate data points for what I drew. This might sound crazy, but I need some data (preferably in CSV output) that will only approximately show value X at time Y and I do not want to go and produce these values by hand. I only have to know how it will flow along. Anyone know how to actually accomplish this? So, I would actually want to draw a line on a graph, and then get the output (X + Y) from that line I drew in a (preferably) CSV.

• Excel chart: How to reverse the X axis of time series data

- by JohnnyLambada
In Excel 2003, I have a time series from a financial report that goes something like this: 2007 2006 2005 Amount 300 200 100 I want to create a graph of the time series that looks something like this (please excuse the ugly ascii graph): 300| .x | ... 200| .x.. | ... 100| x |____________________ 0 2005 2006 2007 But intead of getting an upward sloping graph, excel wants to put my time series in reverse (the way it actually appears in the spreadsheet). Is there any way to make excel display the x axis in reverse of the way it normally does? I've tried manually reversing the range in the chart dialog (changing a range of B1:D3 to D3:B1), but excel just puts it back.

• ExternalInterface

- by Jesse
Hey, so I'm having a bunch of trouble getting ExternalInterface to work, which is odd, because I use it somewhat often. I'm hoping it's something I just missed because I've been looking at it too long. The flash_ready function is correctly returning the objectID, and as far as I can tell, everything else is in order. Unfortunately, when I run it, I get an error (varying by browser) telling me that basically document.getElementById(<movename>).test() is not a valid method. Here's the code: javascript: function flash_ready(i){ document.getElementById(i).test('success!'); } Embed Html (Generated): AS3 : package com.jesseditson.uploader { import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.external.ExternalInterface; import flash.system.Security; public class UI extends MovieClip { // Initialization: public function UI() { Security.allowDomain('*'); ExternalInterface.addCallback("test", test); var jscommand:String = "flash_ready('"+ExternalInterface.objectID+"');"; var url:URLRequest = new URLRequest("javascript:" + jscommand + " void(0);"); navigateToURL(url, "_self"); } public function test(t){ trace(t); } } } Swfobject is being included via google code, and the flash embeds just fine, so that's not the problem. I've got a very similar setup working on another server, but can't seem to get it working on this one. It's a Hostgator shared server. Could it be the server's fault? Anybody see any obvious syntax problems? Thanks in advance!

• Using Open MQ as an Oracle CEP Event Source

- by seth.white
I helped an Oracle CEP customer recently who wanted to use Open MQ has an event source for their Oracle CEP application. In this case, the Oracle CEP application was being used to provide monitoring for an electronic commerce website, however, the steps for configuring Open MQ are entirely independent of the application logic. I thought I would list the configuration steps in a blog post in case they might help others in the future. Note that although the Oracle CEP documentation states that only WebLogic and Tibco JMS are "officially" supported, any JMS implementation that provides a Java client should work with Oracle CEP. The first step is to add an adapter to the application's EPN. This can be done in the usual way, using the Eclipse IDE. The end result is something like the following bit of configuration in the application's Spring application context. Note that the provider attribute value of 'jms-inbound' specifies that the out-of-the-box JMS adapter is being used. <wlevs:adapter id="helloworldAdapter" provider="jms-inbound"> </wlevs:adapter> Next, configure the inbound adapter so that it can connect to Open MQ in the Oracle CEP configuration file (config.xml). The snippet below provides an example of what this configuration should look like. The exact values specified for jndi-provider-url, jndi-factory, connection-jndi-name, destination-jndi-name elements will depend on your Open MQ configuration. For example , if the name of your Open MQ topic destination is 'ElectronicCommerceTopic', then you would specify that as the destination-jndi-name. The name of your Open MQ connection factory goes in the connection-jndi-name element. In my simple example, I also specify in event-type element so that the out-of-the-box JMS adapter will attempt to automatically convert incoming messages to events of type HelloWorldEvent. In a more complex application, one would configure a custom converter on the JMS adapter to convert from messages to events. The Oracle CEP 11.1.3 documentation describes how to do this. <jms-adapter>
<event-type>HelloWorldEvent</event-type> <jndi-provider-url>file:///C:/Temp</jndi-provider-url> <jndi-factory>com.sun.jndi.fscontext.RefFSContextFactory</jndi-factory> <connection-jndi-name>YourJMSConnectionFactoryName</connection-jndi-name> <destination-jndi-name>YourJMSDestinationName</destination-jndi-name> </jms-adapter> Finally, one needs to package the client-side Open MQ jars so that the classes that they contain are available to the Oracle CEP runtime. The recommended way for doing this in the Oracle CEP 11.1.3 release is to package the classes as a library module or simply place them in the application bundle. The advantage of deploying the classes as a library module is that they are available to any application that wants to connect to Open MQ. In my case, I packaged the classes in my application bundle. A best practice when you want to include additional jars in your application bundle is to create a 'lib' directory in your Eclipse project and then copy the required jars into that directory. Then, use the support that Eclipse provides to add the jars to the bundle classpath (which makes the classes part of your application in the same way that regular application classes are), and export all of the classes from your application bundle so that they are available to the Oracle CEP server runtime. The screenshot below Illustrates how this is done in Eclipse. The bundle classpath contains two Open MQ jars and all packages in the jars are exported. Finally, import the javax.jms and javax.naming packages into the application module as these are needed by the Open MQ classes. The screenshot below shows the complete list of package imports for my sample application. Once you have completed these steps, you should be able to build and deploy your application and begin receiving inbound messages from Open MQ. • A completely free and open programming language

- by XGouchet
With Oracle vs Google trial, it seems that Java is not entirely Open and free (as free software) as I expected. Although there exists completely free/open JVM, it's hard to know what is a copyright infringement with Java, and what is not. So I'd like to know if there is a completely Open and free language with open and free IDE (Eclipse-like) out there, Object Oriented if possible, and able to make window-based applications for the main OSs (Linux, Mac, Windows).

• adobe flash buider (flex4): Error #2025 or Error: addChild() is not available in this class. Instead

- by user306584
Hi, I'm a complete newbie to Flex, so apologies for my dumbness. I've searched for an answer but haven't found anything that seems to be doing the trick. What I'm trying to do: port this example http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/flex/articles/flex_air_codebase_print.html to Flash Builder 4. All seems to be fine but for one thing. When I use the original code for the Air application <s:WindowedApplication xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" creationComplete="onApplicationComplete()"> <fx:Script> private static const neededForCompilation:AirGeneralImplementation = null; private function onApplicationComplete():void { var can:MainCanvas = new MainCanvas(); this.addChild(can); can.labelMessage = "Loaded in an AIR Application "; } </fx:Script> <fx:Declarations> </fx:Declarations> </s:WindowedApplication> I get this run time error Error: addChild() is not available in this class. • guvciew/youtube problem

- by Anonymous
I'm fairly new to Linux. Running on 12.10 Ubuntu. I've been running into some problems recording videos. Cheese crashes (as I've read from other users), YouTube will not allow me to select Allow (flash in Chrome and in Firefox). I managed to get 1 video uploaded from my cam and it worked about half the time, cut the audio off, lagged, etc. My computer is fine 4gigs, 32-bit i5 so it shouldn't be a problem. Now onto guv, I managed to get 1 video to work and after that every video I save it comes up with an orange file that looks like a film. I tried to change the file name, open in VLC, everything. I love Ubuntu and I'm never going back to Windows, ever One other thing to note is I am allowed to click "allowed" in Tiny chat. I even went to the adobe website to allow everything to bypass allow, deny option and nothing. Even went out of my way to add youtube/upload/cam for it to allow it and nothing. I realize right now Flash has been terrible for the past couple of months (especially in Chrome). What my question is well first and foremost, how do I fix this, if possible? I've thought about running Wine but I haven't heard anything good about it and I've already re reformated Ubuntu twice. Is there a codec pack I need too? Like I said everything works fine, especially in Chrome. It allows me to broadcast, no lag, and my mic works fine. guv would be my best option at this point because everything I've tried has given me nothing but trouble Thanks and I hope you guys can give me an answer. I've been at this for 2-3 days straight now. I could even go out of my way to not use Youtube and use something similar if it came down to it.

• How to choose an open source, Asterisk friendly firewall?

- by Lucas
I'm in pain. We are moving to a SIP based VOIP system and for whatever reason, we could not get our hosted Asterisk solution to work with our Sonicwall. Our VOIP provider gave up and is recommending an open source vendor, pfSense. A little background: We have about 30 users in our network. We use a few IPSec VPN connections for remote networks. I would like, but don't need, application layer filtering. We're active internet users, so properly traffic shaping is probably a concern. How can I tell if an open source firewall will handle VOIP setup smoothly with a hosted Asterisk system?

• Flex chart axis title blinking on resize

- by Anoop
I am having a chart with titles for horizontal and vertical axis. the verticalAxisTitleAlignment property of the vertical axis renderer is set to vertical. The application is a portal sort of thing and this chart is placed inside a small window. on click of the window am resizing the parent of the chart. but at that time the title of the axis is blinking and it provides a feeling that the resizing is not smooth. I dont understand why this happens? does the tile renders each time when the component is maximized? is there any way to stop that? Thanks in Advance, Cheers, PK This is the code am using to draw the title : <mx:horizontalAxis> <mx:LinearAxis id="haxis" title="Share" interval="5"/> </mx:horizontalAxis> <mx:verticalAxis> <mx:LinearAxis id="vaxis" title="{'Aided'+ '\n'+ ' awareness'}" interval="5"/> </mx:verticalAxis> <mx:horizontalAxisRenderers> <mx:AxisRenderer axis="{haxis}" axisStroke="{axisStroke}" tickPlacement="none"/> </mx:horizontalAxisRenderers> <mx:verticalAxisRenderers> <mx:AxisRenderer axis="{vaxis}" axisStroke="{axisStroke}" verticalAxisTitleAlignment="vertical" tickPlacement="none"/> </mx:verticalAxisRenderers>
