  • Javascript "inlet" or "offset" function for drop-list options

    - by Camran
    I have seen on several sites that drop list values can have offsets... For example this drop-list: Fruits Apple Banana Orange Colors Red White Black The above are all options, but some have "inlets" or "offsets" or whatever you want to call it. How is this done with js? (regular js, not jquery at the moment) Thanks If you need more input let me know.

  • Strange behaviour on postback in ASP.NET

    - by C-King
    I'm working on a website with a login form. To log in, a postback is used to an OnClick handler in the codebehind. Somehow, the value returned from the Text-property of the username and password textboxes is ten times the value I entered, separated by commas. I checked my entire code for double ID's (which seems to be the most common problem causing this behaviour), but I found each ID defined only once. In the ASPX file I have this: <asp:Label ID="lblFeedback" ForeColor="Red" Font-Bold="true" runat="server" Visible="false" /><br /> <asp:Panel ID="pnlLogin" runat="server"> <table style="border-style: none;"> <tr> <td> <asp:Label ID="lblUsername" AssociatedControlID="txtUsername" runat="server" /> </td> <td> <asp:TextBox ID="txtUsername" runat="server" /><br /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <asp:Label ID="lblPassword" AssociatedControlID="txtPassword" runat="server" /> </td> <td> <asp:TextBox ID="txtPassword" runat="server" TextMode="password" /><br /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> <asp:Button ID="btnLogin" OnClick="btnLogin_Click" runat="server" /> </td> </tr> </table> </asp:Panel> The OnClick handler in the Codebehind: protected void btnLogin_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { string username = Util.Escape(txtUsername.Text); string password = Util.Escape(txtPassword.Text); WebsiteUser user = WebsiteUser.Create(username, password); if (user != null) { //Set some session variables and redirect to user profile } else { lblFeedback.Text = Localizer.Translate("INVALID_LOGIN"); lblFeedback.ForeColor = Color.Red; lblFeedback.Visible = true; pnlLogin.Visible = true; } } The website is running on ASP.NET 2.0 on ISS 5.1 (Win XP Pro)

  • jQuery multiple class selection

    - by morpheous
    I am a bit confused with this: I have a page with a set of buttons (i.e. elements with class attribute 'button'. The buttons belong to one of two classes (grp1 and grp2). These are my requirements For buttons with class enabled, when the mouse hovers over them, a 'button-hover' class is added to them (i.e. the element the mouse is hovering over). Otherwise, the hover event is ignored When one of the buttons with class grp2 is clicked on (it has to be 'enabled' first), then I disable (i.e. remove the 'enabled' class for all elements with class 'enabled' (should probably selecting for elements with class 'button' AND 'enabled' - but I am having enough problems as it is, so I need to keep things simple for now). This is what my page looks like: <html> <head> <title>Demo</title> <style type="text/css" .button {border: 1px solid gray; color: gray} .enabled {border: 1px solid red; color: red} .button-hover {background-color: blue; } </style> <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> </head> <body> <div class="btn-cntnr"> <span class="grp1 button enabled">button 1</span> <span class="grp2 button enabled">button 2</span> <span class="grp2 button enabled">button 3</span> <span class="grp2 button enabled">button 4</span> </div> <script type="text/javascript"> /* <![CDATA[ */ $(document).ready(function(){ $(".button.enabled").hover(function(){ $(this).toggleClass('button-hover'); }, function() { $(this).toggleClass('button-hover'); }); $('.grp2.enabled').click(function(){ $(".grp2").removeClass('enabled');} }); /* ]]> */ </script> </body> </html> Currently, when a button with class 'grp2' is clicked on, the other elements with class 'grp2' have the 'enabled' class removed (works correctly). HOWEVER, I notice that even though the class no longer have a 'enabled' class, SOMEHOW, the hover behaviour is still applied to these elemets (WRONG). Once an element has been 'disabled', I no longer want it to respond to the hover() event. How may I implement this behavior, and what is wrong with the code above (i.e. why is it not working? (I am still learning jQuery)

  • UML enumeration as a return type

    - by Ryan Fernandes
    << enumeration>> E1 | .RED .GREEN .BLUE | I have the above as an enumeration class in a UML diagram. I associate it with another class say House. I now need a method on House say +getColor() which returns a color from the above enumeration. How would I depict this in UML? would it be like : +getColor(): E1 ?

  • iTunes style layout using CSS

    - by Liam
    What is the best way (using HTML/CSS) to create an iTunes-style layout with the following features: a left column with a fixed width but fluid height (scrollbars for overflow) (BLUE below) a main content column with fluid width and height (scrollbars for overflow) (RED below) a bottom right box with fixed width and height which remains stuck to the bottom of the browser? (GREEN below) Here is an example: I'm happy to use Javascript/JQuery if there really isn't a pure CSS solution. Thanks!

  • color letters in a div

    - by Growler
    I've created a palindrome checker. I want to take it one step further and show the letters being compared as it is being checked. HTML: <p id="typing"></p> <input type="text" id="textBox" onkeyup="pal(this.value);" value="" /> <div id="response"></div> <hr> <div id="palindromeRun"></div> JS: To do this, I run the recursive check... Then if it is a palindrome, I run colorLetters(), which I'm trying to highlight in green each letter as it is being checked. Right now it is just rewriting palindromeRun's HTML with the first letter. I know this is because of the way I'm resetting its HTML. I don't know how to just grab the first and last letter, change only those letters' css, then increment i and j on the next setTimeout loop. var timeout2 = null; function pal (input) { var str = input.replace(/\s/g, ''); var str2 = str.replace(/\W/, ''); if (checkPal(str2, 0, str2.length-1)) { $("#textBox").css({"color" : "green"}); $("#response").html(input + " is a palindrome"); $("#palindromeRun").html(input); colorLetters(str2, 0, str2.length-1); } else { $("#textBox").css({"color" : "red"}); $("#response").html(input + " is not a palindrome"); } if (input.length <= 0) { $("#response").html(""); $("#textBox").css({"color" : "black"}); } } function checkPal (input, i, j) { if (input.length <= 1) { return false; } if (i === j || ((j-i) == 1 && input.charAt(i) === input.charAt(j))) { return true; } else { if (input.charAt(i).toLowerCase() === input.charAt(j).toLowerCase()) { return checkPal(input, ++i, --j); } else { return false; } } } function colorLetters(myinput, i, j) { if (timeout2 == null) { timeout2 = setTimeout(function () { console.log("called"); var firstLetter = $("#palindromeRun").html(myinput.charAt(i)) var secondLetter = $("#palindromeRun").html(myinput.charAt(j)) $(firstLetter).css({"color" : "red"}); $(secondLetter).css({"color" : "green"}); i++; j++; timeout2=null; }, 1000); } } Secondary: If possible, I'd just like to have it colors the letters as the user is typing... I realize this will require a setTimeout on each keyup, but also am not sure how to write this.

  • How do I compare current date with dates stored in MySQL db?

    - by Gabriele
    Hello, I'm coding a uploader that saves into the db the date when a file is uploaded using CURDATE(). I want to compare the current date with the one stored into the db in order to change the color of the icon related to the file depending on how long has this feel been uploaded. For instance, if less than a week, the icon will be green, if more than a week, it will be yellow, if more than two weeks, red. How can I do it? Thanks.

  • ExtJS Close button on each tab in a Tabpanel

    - by Poul
    The Extjs API site adds a new tab for each search you do. The tabs each have a red X on them to close the tab similar to what browsers have. Check it out here: I'd like to replicate this and it seems like something that would be built-in to the API, but cannot find it. Any ideas?

  • How to intercept an Exit event for a Windows Form in VB?

    - by Dooms101
    When a user clicks on the little red "x" a.k.a. the form close button on the form command bar, what even is activated besides FormClosed() I know FormClosing() is called, but I cannot really stop the form from closing after my code is run. I want to be able to show a messagebox that asks if the user wants to exit the form or not. Obviously if they click no, I want the form to stay open, how would I do this?
