• Automated payment notification with php

  I'm about to integrate automated payments into a site. To date, I've successfully used paypal for a number of projects, but these have always been sites which sell physical goods, meaning I can upload the cart contents, user pays, person physically ships goods. This site is a one off payment to enable extra features on a web app. My current thinking is to go down the paypal IPN route to get a notification back and update the users account based on the successful payment. Question is in two parts: 1 - is there a better / simpler way? (any payment processor considered) 2 - does anyone know of a code library or plug in for php which will speed up my integration? • Problem with filling dataset

  This is a small portion of my code file. Each time my debugger reaches the line 'NewDA.Fill(NewDS);' at runtime it jumps to the catch. I'm positive the daynumber variable gets a value that's present in the database and I've tried the query outside of the codefile on my database and it works fine.   I'm unsure what the proper way is to access parts of the requested URL. In this case, I want to get the requested path without the query variables. This is the only way I found to do it: String path = getRequest().getResourceRef().getHostIdentifier() + getRequest().getResourceRef().getPath(); The result would be the bold part of this url: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/ask?query=value I also found about 6 different ways to get the server name (http://stackoverflow.com) but I'm worried that some of them would fail in certain cases that I am unaware of (why would there be 6 different ways to do one thing): getRequest().getHostRef().getHostIdentifier(); getRequest().getHostRef().getIdentifier(); getRequest().getRootRef().getHostIdentifier(); getRequest().getRootRef().getIdentifier(); getRequest().getResourceRef().getHostIdentifier(); And this seems to get the complete URL with query parameters: getRequest().getResourceRef().getIdentifier(); Any further explanation would be much appreciated.

• Track pageviews in Google Analytics on partial url of Grails application

  For my Grails application I want to set up Google Analytics to track only "partial" url's. I 'll explain: a typical Grails url consists of the following parts: domain + application-name + controller + action + id e.g. www.mydomain.com/myapp/controller/action/12345 As far as I understand for Google Analytics the page to be tracked is identified by the entire url. For my purpose I'm not interested in the id part of the url: I want to know which actions have been performed, but I need not know for which id the action was executed. And of course I would like a generic solution, because I have multiple controllers and multiple actions... Maybe some kind of filter stating "I want to track pages 3 levels deep (/myapp/controller/action)" would do? Or a filter stating "exclude everything from url after the last /"? • Odd results when searching for numbers using IXSSO.Query

  Hi, from classic asp on Windows 2008, using an IXSSO.Query, when searching for a string of numbers, for example 10000000001, I receive results that also include variations to this, like 10000000002 10000000003 and so on. If I change the first digit so the search string is 20000000001 I dont get anything. If I keep moving the last digit from my first example to the left, I keep getting hits until I reach the half way point when I get no results! So in other words 10000020000 will return results like in the first example but 10000200000 does not. This all sounds like to me that its doing a match on the first 6 characters and it ignores the rest... Here is relevant parts of the Set oQuery = Server.CreateObject("IXSSO.Query") oQuery.Catalog = SEARCH_CATALOG oQuery.Query = "@all " & searchstr Set oRS = oQuery.CreateRecordset("nonsequential") Anyone got any ideas and/or suggestions? • IE 8 dialog windows not decompressing files

  Hi, I've got a website where we have pre-compressed all of our HTML files. In general this works fine, but since IE 8 has come out some people are finding that they can not use some parts of the website. We've used the showModalDialog command to open a dialog window and pointing to one of our pre-compressed files but it displays it just show up as strange characters (ie not decompressed). Now it only happens in the dialog. I'm pretty sure our compression is all fine because the page they are viewing to open the dialog is also compressed. Has anyone else come across this or got any suggestions cuz i'm stumped??? Thanks, Mike

• Prevent status bar from receiving touch events

  Edit After further testing, it appears that the part of my button that are not clickable are where the status bar used to be. I'm hiding the status bar with : // -- Override point for customization after app launch [[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarHidden:YES]; But it's still receiving touches. Any idea on how to disable this? Is there's a bounding box on an application that receives touch events? I created a few sample round rect buttons and placed them in different places in my view. The ones in the center of the view receive touch events (and show the highlighted blue color) but if I place a button near the edges of the view, only parts of them are clickable in the simulator. Is this because of Apples style guidelines? I placed a button exactly where a UITabNavigationItem would appear and only the bottom half of it is clickable.

  Hi, in my c++ software I've used Boost in some parts and also for the local time. OK, now my problem is to make a check if in my machine is active or not the DST. With the follow part of code I can know only the difference from the UTC time. In my case the difference is 2 hours because is active the DST ptime tLoc = second_clock::local_time(); ptime tUTC = second_clock::universal_time(); time_duration tDiff = tUTC - tLoc; local_time_zone = tDiff.hours(); I think that the boolean funcion has_dst() can help, right? My system is Debian GNU/Linux. Thanks

  Hi all, I'm a beginner in WSS 3.0 and I'm having some problems with the navigation setup. I can't find any documentation that clearly recommends best practices in this area. I'm trying to create an intranet, custom look and feel, that should have a structure similar to: Company - News - News type 1 - News type 2 - Organogram - ... Employees - Employees 1 - Employees 2 - Employees 2_1 - ... How to properly set this up? Company, News, are sites/subsites? And News type 1 and 2 are pages within a site? I created as described above and in the master page of the main site I added some scripts that will be used by web parts, like jquery. The subsites will have their own master page and will not recognize the scripts, I need to add them there which is annoying. Any recommendations? Or some resource that provides best practices setting up these structures? Thx in advance

To my understanding, both describe the parts of a program in which a variable/object/method/function will be accessible. I understand that 'scope' tends to be a property of the variable (e.g., "This variable has global scope"), while a 'namespace' is a property of the program (e.g., "A Python function creates a local namespace"). Are there other differences?   Hi, After being blown away by the greatness of irb and rails console, I am loving the dynamical parts of the language more and more. Now, I wonder if it would be possible for a Ruby application to update itself on-the-fly (if the write permission allows it). Can a Ruby application fetch an update and refresh itself? I have seen this functionality a lot in Apple applications and I know updates and fixes are something you must anticipate for when deploying an application.   I'm familiar with the Front Controller pattern, in which all events/requests are processed through a single centralized controller. But what would you call it when you wish to keep the various parts of an application separate at the presentation layer as well? My first thought was "Facade" but it turns out that's something entirely different. In my particular case, I'm converting an application from a sprawling procedural mess to a clean MVC architecture, but it's a long-term process -- we need to keep things separated as much as possible to facilitate a slow integration with the rest of the system. Our application is web-based, built in PHP, so for instance, we have an "index.php" and an IndexController, a "account.php" and an AccountController, a "dashboard.php" and DashboardController, and so on.

  I had a problem with accepting invalid SSL certificate in my iPhone program. That problem is solved now, however I came to understanding that I have very abstract idea on how exactly the whole thing is working: how web browser is verifying that received certificate is really for host it communicates to and not faked by same party in the middle? if browser talks to some 3rd party (CA?) to do certificate check? and many other questions... Would someone please recommend good source of information with in-depth enough description of how all parts click together?

With high contrast mode enabled on my PC certain parts of this application are rendered properly (white-on-black) and some incorrectly (black-on-white). The bits that are correct are the native components (JButton, JLabel and whatnot) and third party components from the likes of JIDE. The incorrect bits are custom components and renderers developed in-house without consideration for high-contrast mode. Clearly it's possible to detect when high-contrast mode is enabled. How do I do this?

  Hi, When creating templates I typically have 3 separate parts (header, body, footer) which I combine to pass a singe string to the web-server (CherryPy in this case). My first approach is as follows... from jinja2 import Environment, FileSystemLoader env = Environment(loader=FileSystemLoader('')) tmpl = env.get_template('Body.html') page_body = tmpl.render() tmpl = env.get_template('Header.html') page_header = tmpl.render() tmpl = env.get_template('Footer.html') page_footer = tmpl.render() page_code = page_header + page_body + page_footer but this contains repetitious code, so my next approach is... def render_template(html_file): from jinja2 import Environment, FileSystemLoader env = Environment(loader=FileSystemLoader('')) tmpl = env.get_template(html_file) return tmpl.render() page_header = render_template('Header.html') page_body = render_template('Body.html') page_footer = render_template('Footer.html) However, this means that each part is created in its own environment - can that be a problem? Are there any other downsides to this approach? I have chosen the 3-part approach over the child-template approach because I think it may be more flexible (and easier to follow), but I might be wrong. Anyone like to convince me that using header, body and footer blocks might be better? Any advice would be appreciated. Alan

  I'm trying to learn WPF and was thinking about creating a simple IRC client. The most complicated part is to create the chat log. I want it to look more or less like the one in mIRC: or irssi: The important parts are that the text should be selectable, lines should wrap and it should be able to handle quite large logs. The alternatives that I can come up with are: StackPanel inside a ScrollViewer where each line is a row ListView, since that seems more suitable for dynamic content/data binding. Create an own control that does the rendering on its own. Is there any WPF guru out there that has some ideas on which direction to take and where to start?

• Why isn't wchar_t widely used in code for Linux / related platforms?

  This intrigues me, so I'm going to ask - for what reason is wchar_t not used so widely on Linux/Linux-like systems as it is on Windows? Specifically, the Windows API uses wchar_t internally whereas I believe Linux does not and this is reflected in a number of open source packages using char types. My understanding is that given a character c which requires multiple bytes to represent it, then in a char[] form c is split over several parts of char* whereas it forms a single unit in wchar_t[]. Is it not easier, then, to use wchar_t always? Have I missed a technical reason that negates this difference? Or is it just an adoption problem?

  Hi All, Been scratching my head for too long on this: Using jquery.form, (http://malsup.com/jquery/form) with PHP ... my $_FILES['someimage'] gets set but the error number is always UPLOAD_ERR_NO_FILE, size is also 0. The JavaScript: $('form input[type=file]').change(function(){ $(this).clone().appendTo('#imgform'); $('#imgform').ajaxForm(); $('#imgform').ajaxSubmit( { type:'POST' } ); }); Which appends to: <form id="imgform" method="POST" action="/api/images.php" enctype="multipart/form-data"></form> From another form which has bog-standard file inputs. PHP logs are clean, but var_dumping $_FILES always shows that the index is set to the name of the form element ... but no data. Thanks guys! • Managing Static Library project as a module like Framework on iOS project in Xcode4.

  (Solution Note, I'll answer immediately) Many people including me trying to make a kind of Static Library framework for iOS to archive some kind of modularity. Framework is best way to do this, but it doesn't provided by Apple, and workarounds don't work well. https://github.com/kstenerud/iOS-Universal-Framework/tree/master/Fake%20Framework/Templates Fake framework cannot be referenced from linking tab in Build Phases. Real framework needs modification of system setting. And still not work smoothly on every parts. Problem is static library need header files, and it's impossible to reference header files on project at another location on different project without some script. And script breaks IDE's file management abstraction. How can I use static library project like a convenient module manner? (just dragging project into another project to complete embedding)
