• How can I set up multiple dynamic users to update a single network's dynamic IP

  On my home network we are allocated a dynamic IP. I want to configure ddclient (or an equivalent) to send IP updates to DNS-O-Matic/OpenDNS only when I am on my home network. I do not want to send IP updates when I'm on my office network. Can this be done? I am prepared to use different FLOSS software or a different free DNS service. Additionally, there are multiple users who may be on the home network or away on other networks. How can we configure ddclient on each machine so that whoever is on the home network updates the IP (i.e. so we don't have to rely on a particular machine being on the network to update the IP). OpenDNS support have said we can't simply install updater software on each machine.

• Using WSUS to update machines not on the domain

  I have a WSUS server providing updates for for the computers on my domain. We also bring allot of machines back to our office and run windows update on them as build image, this means that we end up downloading the same updates over and over again. Is there anyway to get a machine to download its updates from our WSUS Server? i found that theres something running on port 8530 but its just an empty document, in fact every folder listed in IIS config returns a blank document anyone know if this is possible? and how i would do it?

• TCP Zero Window with no corresponding Window Update

  I am trying to debug a network issue and am using Wireshark and tcpdump to grab packets from my server. I have one client application that is grabbing all my available connections and then holding them, trying to send A LOT of data and essentially causing an unintentional DOS attack. While debugging I notice that I see my server sending "Window Closed" and "Zero Window" TCP packets - but never sending any "Window Update" packets. I am guessing this is why the client never lets go of the connections (it still has more data to send and is waiting). Has anyone ever seen this type of behavior before? Let's not get into the reasons why I haven't set up an iptables rule to limit concurrent connections (yeah I know). I also recently changed the MTU from 1500 to 9000 - could this have such a negative effect? (Linux) Thanks.

  I recently installed the game watch dogs After installing it i upgraded the drivers on my graphics card AMD Radion R9 200 series via the catalyst software and since then windows has been crashing on an ad-hoc basis even when sitting idle I have recieved two different sets of errors OXOOOOOOO1 and VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR I am running windows 8.1 with the driver 14.4 from AMD My PC shouldnt really be having this problem as it is pretty high spec due to my work Any help would be greatly appreciated as it is driving me up the walls a bit [UPDATE 08-06-2014] I have been looking around online and have crashed the PC a few times now trying to recreate the bug I have looked into the event history viewer and gotten the following errors amdacpusrsvc acpusrsvc: IOCTL_ACPKSD_KSD_TO_USR_SVC_SET_FB_APERTURES: FAILED acpusrsvc: GfxMemServiceInitialize: FAILED amdacpusrsvc acpusrsvc: IOCTL_ACPKSD_KSD_TO_USR_SVC_SET_FB_APERTURES: FAILED amdacpusrsvc acpusrsvc: GfxMemServiceInitialize: FAILED I took some advice from the AMD forums to re-install the old drivers to see if they would work. • Using FTP to update files on a server

  I know the FTP username and password for a site we own and need to know how we can update some files on the server. It seems quite a small thing to do and I'd like to have a go at doing it myself. A few years ago a friendly local guy help set up a website for my wife's floristry business. The site has a "contact us" page, and messages are forwarded to our home email address. We've now just changed our home email, and so I now need to reset the forwarding function on the website. The helpful local guy seems to have moved away, or retired - there's no way I can find him now. I tried to get help on how to change the forwarding address from the hosting people, but they say they can't help me. How do I go about updating the pages on the site? A step-by-step guide on how to do it would be great.

• Update mysql database with arpwatch textfile database

  I'm looking to keep arpwatch entries in a mysql database to crossreference with other information I'm storing based on mac addresses. I've manually imported the arpwatch database into my mysql database, but being a novice with databases I'm not sure what the best way to continually update the database with new entries without creating duplicates would be. None of the fields can be unique, as even the time is duplicated frequently. I'm not interested in the actual arpwatch events like flip flop or new station, just the mac/ip/time pairings. Would a simple bash (or sql) shell script do the trick? Would it be possible to make the mac address plus the time be a composite key of some sort? the database is called utility, table is arpwatch, columns are mac, ip, time a seperate table named 'hosts' with columns mac, ip, type, hostname, location, notes has mac as the primary key. This table will correlate different ip addresses that a mac had over time using the arpwatch column initial import was done with MySQL Workbench using INSERT INTO commands with creative search and replace on the text file

• E71 update my music files keep getting disconnected via USB

  Previously, i can update my music files using Oviplayer to my E71 Nokia. Now whenever i plug in my E71 i choose PC suite. i go to Oviplayer in my laptop. and i select the mobile phone section and i press the connect button, automatically my phone is disconnected via USB. the alternative is to choose media transfer or media player. The same thing happens. And the connecting screen at Ovi player is like hanged. I have previously transferred songs, but only twice. first time this has happened to me. I do not know why.   Hello, I currently have a ubuntu server machine which has gitolite and redmine installed. Redmine accesses repository copies which are updated using a cron task. Having a cron task to pull the updates seems like an overkill is there anyway a gitolite post-commit script could execute a pull as the redmine user. My current update script looks like this: */15 * * * * redmine cd /home/redmine/repositories/support && git pull The post-commit script I guess should be similar, how can I give the gitolite user the privileges to execute the pull as the redmine user? • Wireless network unavailable, no networks found after Windows update

  Old Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop with Linksys Wireless G network adapter card (WPC54G v2). Wireless connection was working fine. Then I ran a bunch of windows updates, I think the last one was the recent .NET 3.5 service pack update. Now wireless networks won't connect. Using windows to manage wireless, no networks show up. I'm typing right now on another laptop where wireless is working fine. I've restarted router & Dell laptop several times. Tried to Repair wireless connection and refresh network list. Also restarted DHCP and WZC service, all to no avail. I then uninstalled .NET 3.5 SP (don't remember number) and .NET 3.0 SP2. I don't remember all the windows updates that I just ran because I haven't used this laptop in a while so had to catch up on some updates.

• windvd aacs keys update dosn't work

  A relative has a viao htpc, which has blue ray. The player I believe is a viao branded version of windvd with blue ray support. Every time it loads it asks if it should update the aacs keys as they are out of date. If you select yes nothing happens. The package just sits there forever saying that you shouldn't turn it off. I have tried to go to the products website (which is now corel) registering and downloading the keys, but the key download page does nothing. Has anyone had a similar problem, or are there any suggestions to get around it?

• Can't seem to disable Java Automatic Update

  I'm just tweaking out my new Windows 7 laptop and wanted to disable the automatic Java updating (and thus kill the silly jusched.exe background process), but I can't seem to get it to actually turn it off. I found the Java Control Panel applet and found the settings on the Update tab that should control it. I can turn them off, apply them, and close the dialog successfully. But if I just open the dialog backup again right away, I see that the changes weren't actually made. I've tried it numerous times and it just doesn't take. What's up with that? I also tried to disable the icon in the system tray and got the same effect. Changing the size of the Temporary Internet Files cache work however. Any ideas? Thanks!

  I'm working on a corporate desktop (still) running Windows XP SP2. I recently received a new PC and am reinstalling all my tools. Something is different about this one in that it won't let me install Powershell 2.0. When I do, I get a popup: You do not have permission to update Windows XP. Please contact your system administrator. This also occurs for other installs, like Service Pack 3 and Windows Installer 4.5. I'm aware this PC is under group policy restrictions, but I haven't narrowed down what restriction is preventing this install so that I can have the appropriate support team resolve it. What setting could be responsible for this?

• Reboot loop after Windows XP Service Pack 3 update

  Recently I upgraded to Service Pack 3, and now it seems that something has gone terribly wrong with the update. After logging in, my computer will blue screen after about 5 minutes and then go into a reboot loop (I don't have the exact error message handy). I have a Sager NP2092 notebook, running an Intel chipset. I'd rather avoid having to reformat my XP, especially with my copy of Windows 7 arriving right around the corner. After doing some Googling, I came across this article: Does your AMD-based computer boot after installing XP SP3? However, it deals with the AMD chips, and specifically states not to use its fix on Intel based systems. EDIT After killing the reboot, this is the error that pops up: STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x00000003, 0x8A187118, 0x8A18728C, 0x80604438) EDIT2 I have run Memtest86, and it reported 0 errors.

  I am getting the following error while running apt-get update on all of the servers. W: A error occurred during the signature verification. The repository is not updated and the previous index files will be used. Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 8B48AA6247928553 W: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead. The solutions available are: To login into each of the server and run the following command to import the gpg key for that repo. sudo gpg --keyserver hkp://subkeys.pgp.net --recv-keys 8B48AA6247928553 sudo gpg --export --armor 8B48AA6247928553 | sudo apt-key add - But this requires logging into all of the individual servers and run the above two commands. I am looking for a way to correct by working on apt-repo server. Is there any way to do that.

  Does anyone know of a way to interface with a Social Media Aggregator using Powershell. For Instance, I would like to update my global status on digsby using Powershell. Digsby would then fan the message out to Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Etc.. I am open to using any Social Media Aggregator that can do this.. Digsby, Seesmic, Ping.fm TweetDeek, etc.. If any of these programs have a com interface or something like it I'm sure who ever implements this first will have a large gain in users.

• Windows 8 gives "system thread exception not handled" after update

  I have a 64-bit dell laptop which I recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8. Since then, it's creating a havoc in my life. The metro apps are not working; the system crashes once in a while and none of my games are running because I don't have the correct drivers for my graphics card (ATI 5000 series). Some days back, Windows downloaded an update and prompted me to restart. After that day, whenever I log in and fire up my desktop, I get all kinds of blue screen errors. • Update Billing Email Addresses in Sage MAS90

  I have been tasked with trying to find a method of updating about 500 customer email addresses in MAS90. I recently discovered that they had the ability to email invoices to their customers and because I opened my big mouth, they now want me to find a way to add about 500 emails into the system so they do not have to perform the task manually. The office does have an SQL server which supports ASP sites which contains a list of all of the current email addresses. My plan was to use Microsoft Access 2007 with the MAS90 ODBC connector to attempt this update. My questions are: Is this the right way to go or is there a better method of obtaining these results? Does anyone happen to know which tables I should be looking at? Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  I want to change a date in a field within my word document, and have it update a couple other fields automatically within the same document. The behavior I'm seeking is basically the same as what a spreadsheet can do. Is this possible? More specifically, if the first page of the document has the date Jan 20 2012, I want to be able to change it, and then watch a couple other dates elsewhere automatically change to either the same date or the same date plus six days. I would also "settle" for having all three fields updated from a central document property (though I don't know how to create one of those properties). Regardless of which approach is used, I want one of the dates to be <value> plus six days such as Jan 26 2012 based on the earlier example I gave.

  I'm trying to run a service that uses $HOME and $USER environment variables. I could set them in service itself, but that would only be a temporary solution. Let's say I have a script test.sh with following content: echo $USER And I run it with start-stop-daemon to see my results: $ start-stop-daemon --start --exec `pwd`/test.sh --user guest --group guest --chuid -guest root Seems like it does not update environment, maybe that should be reported as a bug? I have found a nasty hacky solution, which only works (for unknown reason) on my this simple use case: $ start-stop-daemon --exec /usr/bin/sudo --start -- -u guest -i 'echo $USER' guest I'm sure someone else stumbled upon this, I'm interested in clean solution. $ start-stop-daemon --version start-stop-daemon 1.13.11+gentoo

• Windows 8 stuck installing update

  I just restarted my laptop to finish installing a Windows update and now it is stuck on please wait. I have tried a system restore but there is only one restore point in the list and it does not work for some reason... I also tried to do a refresh but it asks me for media. I plug in the usb I used to install windows 8 a while and go and says that the media failed to load. I'm kind of stuck on options now. I can't boot and I can't restore and it seems I cant format either! Is there anything anything else I can do to get things going?! I'm running Windows 8 on a dell xps 14 ultrabook. • Cisco NAC: help with enabling FTP or moving update files

  Hi, So this is a LINUX question, and a Cisco NAC question. I'm trying to update our server from 4.1 to 4.7, and i need to move some tarball files to the NAC. the NAC Appliance runs some strange stripped down version of Fedora Core 4 copying the upgrade: The instructions say to FTP the file to the NAC appliance, however whenever i use WinSCP with root credentials, i get a notice informing me the connection was actively refused. I can't for the life of me find any .conf files that sound like winners, so I don't know how to change the settings, however the ftp command does seem to work. what exactly should I do here?
