I want to map this elastic IP to a webaddress foo.com, which I have bought from name.com. How do I do this?   • SSH socks proxy tunnel without interactive session?

    I use ssh -D 1080 myhost.org ...to open up an SSH tunnel from my work machine to my home machine, so as to bypass the idiotic content filter on the corporate firewall. However this also creates an interactive SSH session that lives the whole time I'm using the tunnel. Is there any way to tell SSH just to create the tunnel and not bother with the interactive session?

I have bought my new netbook Acer Aspire One 751h some days ago and was very unpleased with it performance - videotalking in skype is almost unuseable, watching videos on YouTube(even in standart definition) is like watching slideshow and all netbook have increadible lags if I'm running more then 4-5 programms in one time. I am trying to understand ideas behind tcp congestion control mechanisms, and I am failing to understand why we need triple duplicate acknowledgement to trigger window change. In my opinion, double duplicate acknowledgement will be enough to get that the previous package is lost. So why we need the third ack?

    I see the option in Visio 2003 to only trust macros stored in trusted locations, but I can't find any way to set up what these trusted locations are. My problem is I have a template file that's not signed in the VBA project but the VBA project is locked (so I can't just sign it myself). So, there are only two ways I can stop the warning: lower my security settings so anything with macros will run (not a good idea) Tell Visio that the template is in a trusted location (if this is even possible)

Assume I cannot change the envelope return path in email I send. Is “null return path” a reliable criterion to tell bounces from normal mail? Roughly how many false positives and false negatives can I expect if I apply it?

    I'm listening to a net radio on my PC I want the sound to go through my boombox cause it has nice speakers/amp The boombox has no "incoming" audio jack that just plays what comes over the wire However the boombox has a USB jack where you can put a thumbdrive with music. The question: How do I make the PC pretend to be a mass-storage device, and dynamically send all received audiodata to the boombox over a symmetric male USB cable?     Bit of a newb using *nix (I'm actually using a bash shell in OS X 10.5) and I wondered what the probably very simple answer is to this... When I write a script (called, say, my_script) and I've saved it to the current directory, why do I have to put a period and a forward slash in front of its name to run it? Like this: ./my_script Can't the shell tell that I want to run it from the current directory? Windows seems to handle that situation. Cheers Ben

    CentOS 6.3, running as root (Shush). Can you please tell me why I would get initialisation failures from the init scripts but the service command works a treat? There was nothing in /var/log/messages or /var/log/libvirt/* all I have it the Terminal output: /etc/init.d/libvirtd start Starting libvirtd daemon: libvirtd: initialization failed [FAILED] I changed the libvirtd logging level to 1, the highest, but saw nothing in messages after another failure.

  • Monitor network traffic on a per-app basis in OS X?

    Title says it all. I'm looking for an app for OS X that will tell me what applications are using the network and what their in/out is. I can get most of the way there with LittleSnitch but it's the bandwidth part that it fails at. The only app I've come across that comes close is "Rubbernet" and while it does look like it would probably do what I want, it's very expensive (more than LittleSnitch) and doesn't look like it gets regular feature updates. Any recommendations?
