  • rundll32.exe constantly running taking up resources slowing down my Win 7 computer

    Over the past week, my Windows 7 Home Premium computer (8gb RAM, 64bit) has been running slowly. When I look at my processes, there are always 2 rundll32.exe's running taking up 3 & 25% CPU power, memory slowly creeping upwards from around 115mb to 160mb each in the time it has taken me to right this message, sometimes popping upt o 300mb and back down. Svchost.exe is at 260mb. When I end those processes, everything returns to snappiness. I recently did some Windows Updates, and I think it was around the time my computer started acting slowly, but I can't remember if it was before or after the updates that things started running slowly. Last night I ccleaned & defrag'ed. How can I diagnose what's causing the slowness?

    I was wondering if there was any tutorial on how to recreate the pagination system used on JoliCloud. The system shows the amount of pages at the bottom along with what page you are on. It is kind of like the iOS springboard. I would like for it to get the apps via a MySQL query, but that's besides the point. I've searched Google and have found no answers on how to do this.   • Watir::IE.attach(:title,/x/) not working correctly on Win 7 IE8

    System: Window 7 Internet Explorer 8 Ruby 1.8 Watir 1.6.5 If I manually open a browser window and then visit a site that causes a second browser window to open and then use the Watir::IE.attach method to find the second browser window everything work fine. The problem is when I open the first Internet Explorer window with the command Watir::IE.new and then visit a site that causes a second browser window to open. When I use Watir::IE.attach to find the second browser window I now get: Watir::Exception::NoMatchingWindowFoundException: Unable to location a window with title of (?-mix:x) from /ie-class.rb:297:in 'attach_browser_window' from /ie-class.rb:149:in '_attach_init' from /ie-class.rb:143:in 'attach' from (irb):15 Has anyone run into this problem and developed a solution?

  • iPhone app quits on launch

    I created an app using the 3.1.2 toolchain on linux.. it compiles and links normally, and in the makefile i upload my app (something) like this: @scp ./blabla [email protected]/Applications/Helloworld.app/ @ssh [email protected] "cd /Applications/Helloworld.app; ldid -S Helloworld_; killall; springBoard" when i launch my app it immediatly quits. according to google ldid failed, so i tried to do it manually. ldid did give an error, but after rebooting the error was fixed. The app still doesn't launch. the weird part of my problem is that an example i had DID work, but doesn't work anymore now. (p.s. i built the toolchain by following this guide)

  • Interacting with scene from controller/app delegate cocos2d

    I'm attempting to make my first cocos2d (for iphone) multiplayer game and having difficulty understanding how to interact with a scene once it is running. The game is a simple turn-based one and so I have a GameController class which co-ordinates the rounds. I also have a GameScene class which is the actual scene that is displayed during a round of the game. The basic interaction I need is for the GameController to be able to pass messages to the GameScene class.. such as StartRound/StopRound etc. The thing that complicates this is that I am loading the GameScene with a LoadingScene class which simply initialises the scene and replaces the current scene with this one, so there is no reference from GameController to GameScene, so passing messages is quite tricky. Does anyone have any ways to get around this, ideally I would still like to use a Loading class as it smooths out the memory hit when replacing scenes.

What is the best way to accomplish this primarily for google search and for other search engines? I currently do a rewrite with permanent from example.com/hello to hello.com using nginx.     Hi all, I've installed HTTP Activation and Non-HTTP Activation IIS's features for Framework.NET 3.0 under WCF Activation feature. I'm trying to remove http and https bindings (under default Web Site) from IIS Manager and leave others (net.tcp, net.msmq, etc.) but if I close and re-open IIS manager I not found any icons in the right panel (Feature View). The only feature I see is IIS Manager Permissions. It's right I don't see them? I hope you can help me. Thank you in advance!

  • Registry remotley hacked win 7 need help tracking the perp

    I was writing some .VBS code at thhe office that would allow certain file extensions to be downloaded without a warning dialog on a w7x32 system. The system I was writing this on is in a lab on a segmented subnet. All web access is via a proxy server. The only means of accessing my machine is via the internet or from within the labs MSFT AD domain. While writing and testing my code I found a message of sorts. Upon refresing the registry to verify my code changed a dword, instead the message HELLO was written and visible in regedit where the dword value wass called for. I took a screen shot and proceeded to edit my code. This same weird behavior occurred last time I was writing registry code except on another internal server. I understand that remote registry access exists for windows systems. I will block this immediately once I return to the office. What I want to know is, can I trace who made this connection? How would I do this? I suspect the cause of this is the cause of other "odd" behaviors I'm experiencing at work such as losing control of my input director master control for over an hour and unchanged code that all of a sudden fails for no logical region. These failures occur at funny times, whenver I'm about to give a demonstration of my test code. I know this sounds crazy however knowledge of the registry component makes this believable. Once the registry can be accessed, the entire system is compromised. Any help or sanity checking is appreciated.

    Interesting find today...   I was perusing the event log on our web server today for any unexpected ASP.NET exceptions/errors. Found the following:   Exception information: Exception type: HttpException Exception message: Path '/builder/builder.sitemap' is forbidden. Request information: Request URL: https://www.bondwave.com:443/builder/builder.sitemap Request path: /builder/builder.sitemap User host address: 66.249.71.247 User: Is authenticated: False Authentication Type: Thread account name: NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE   At first I thought this was maybe an attempt by a hacker to mess with the sitemap. Using a handy web site (www.network-tools.com) I did a lookup on the IP address and found it was a Google bot trying to crawl the application. In this case, I would expect an exception or 403 since the site requires authentication anyway.

    Possible Duplicate: Is there a way to add Mozilla Thunderbird to the messaging menu? Hi, After installing ubuntu I setup my email in evolution, which is fine but on balance I prefer Thunderbird so I installed and set that up. Under preferred applications I have set the mail to Thunderbird, but when I click on the icon in the top right (the mail envelope) and select mail it still loads evolution. Is there a way to switch this to Thunderbird?

    The Arduino IDE is based on a java application called processing. While typing text into processing, it refuses to accept any of the characters under dead keys like " ' ^. As a work around I: Open another window (usually my browser or mail client); I type the character I need; Select and copy the character onto my clip board; Copy the character into processing. What do I have to do to make processing accept characters under dead keys? Disabling dead keys is not an option.

  • Mobile App Notifications in the Enterprise Space: UX Considerations

    Here is a really super website of UX patterns for Android: Android Patterns. I was particularly interested in the event-driven notification patterns (aka status bar notifications to developers). Android - unlike iOS (i.e., the iPhone) - offers a superior centralized notifications system for users.   (Figure copyright Android Patterns)   Research in the enterprise applications space shows how users on-the-go, prefer this approach, as: Users can manage their notification alerts centrally, across all media, apps and for device activity, and decide the order in which to deal with them, and when. Notifications, unlike messages in a dialog or information message in the UI, do not block a task flow (and we need to keep task completion to under three minutes). See the Anti-Patterns slideshare presentation on this blocking point too. These notifications must never interrupt a task flow by launching an activity from the background. Instead, the user can launch an activity from the notification. What users do need is the ability to filter this centralized approach, and to personalize the experience of which notifications are added, what the reminder is, ability to turn off, and so on. A related point concerning notifications is when used to provide users with a record of actions then you can lighten up on lengthy confirmation messages that pop up (toasts in the Android world) used when transactions or actions are sent for processing or into a workflow. Pretty much all the confirmation needs to say is the action is successful along with key data such as dollar amount, customer name, or whatever. I am a user of Android (Nexus S), BlackBerry (Curve), and iOS devices (iPhone 3GS and 4). In my opinion, the best notifications user experience for the enterprise user is offered by Android. Blackberry is good, but not as polished and way clunkier than Android’s. What you get on the iPhone, out of the box, is useless in the enterprise.   • JQuery post not working when moving web-app to a win server 2003

    I have build a webapplication using ASP.NET MVC and JQuery. On my local machine this works fine,but when moving it to a Windows server 2003 the JQuery method post stops working.   • Overriding Home button for a Car Home replacement app

    I have been working on a replacement for the stock Car Home app for a bit, and I am completely stumped on how to override the Home button so that my app will be brought back to the foreground whenever the phone is docked. This is the way that Car Home works, so there must be a way. It seems that BroadcastReceivers won't work, because the intent that is broadcast whenever the Home button is pressed will still cause the default homescreen app to launch; I cannot prevent it. I can override the Home button from within my app, but that does me no good since this needs to work when the user is outside my app. Car Home also does not do anything weird like set itself as the default homescreen app while it's running (I checked the logcat to make sure). I've been really beating my head against the wall on this. Does anyone have any ideas, or can you at least point me in the right direction?

  • Can an app in opt/extras install themeable icons in /usr/share

    My application Variety Wallpaper Changer runs from /opt/extras and uses an indicator icon. I would like to make this indicator icon theme-specific. As far as I understand the standard way is to install named icons into /usr/share/icons with xdg-icon-resource at installation time (Am I right about this?). I have two questions regarding this: Variety installs and runs from /opt/extras.ubuntu.com. Is it acceptable for it to install icons in /usr/share using xdg-icon-resource or is there something else I can do to have theme-specific icons without special-casing themes and dynamically selecting the icon in the code? Variety is packaged using Quickly (and I'm myself a newbie at packaging) - how can I configure it to install theme-specific named icons at installation time?
