• nunit2 Nant task always returns exit code 0 (TeamCity 5.0)

  Hello, I just cannot for the life of me get my nant build file to terminate upon a test failure and return (thus preventing the packaging and artifact step from running) This is the unit part of the nant file: <target name="unittest" depends="build"> <nunit2 verbose="true" haltonfailure="false" failonerror="true" failonfailureatend="true"> <formatter type="Xml" /> <test assemblyname="Code\AppMonApiTests\bin\Release\AppMonApiTests.dll" /> </nunit2> </target> And regardless what combination of true/false i set the haltonfailure, failonerror, failonfailureatend properties to, the result is always this: [11:15:09]: Some tests has failed in C:\Build\TeamCity\buildAgent\work\ba5b94566a814a34\Code\AppMonApiTests\bin\Release\AppMonApiTests.dll, tests run terminated. [11:15:09]: NUnit Launcher exited with code: 1 [11:15:09]: Exit code 0 will be returned.1 Please help as i don't want to be publishing binarys where the unit tests have failed!!!   I want to unit test the custom init method of a class that inherits from NSURLConnection -- how would I do this if the init of my testable class invokes NSURLConnection's initWithRequest? I'm using OCMock and normally, I can mock objects that are contained within my test class. It works fine, and I can close the program with Control-C. But when I press Control-C, this gets outputted: my_web_server.rb:17:in `join': Interrupt from my_web_server.rb:17 So I tried putting that trap("INT") statement at the end, but it isn't getting called. Solution? Thanks.

• Performance Testing Versus Unit Testing

  I'm reading Osherove's "The Art of Unit Testing," and though I've not yet seen him say anything about performance testing, two thoughts still cross my mind: Performance tests generally can't be unit tests, because performance tests generally need to run for long periods of time. Performance tests generally can't be unit tests, because performance issues too often manifest at an integration or system level (or at least the logic of a single unit test needed to re-create the performance of the integration environment would be too involved to be a unit test). Particularly for the first reason stated above, I doubt it makes sense for performance tests to be handled by a unit testing framework (such as NUnit). My question is: do my findings / leanings correspond with the thoughts of the community?

• Testing Rails Metal/Rack with RSpec?

  Say I have a Metal class named Preview. How do I test it with RSpec? When I try: require 'spec_helper' describe Preview do it "should return the posted content" do post "/preview", :content => "*title*" response.body.should == "*title*" end end I get: undefined method `post' for #<ActiveSupport::TestCase::Subclass_1:0x1058b3098> It seems that RSpec doesn't load up the :post method if the test isn't explicitly for a Controller. I've tried specifying :type => :controller to no avail.

• How to make parameters optional when using Rails named routes?

  I have a named route: map.find '/find/:category/:state/:search_term/:permalink', :search_term=>nil, :controller=>'find', :action=>'show_match' and the following URL matches it & works OK: http://localhost:3000/find/cars/ca/TestSeachTerm/bumpedupphoto-test but if I take out the 2nd last parameter i.e. "TestSearchTerm", then the route fails to get matched, even though I have :search_term=nil in the route. http://localhost:3000/find/cars/ca//bumpedupphoto-test Can anyone see what I am doing wrong? Being trying to solve this for a few days now. Thanks!

• Exposing.NET assembly as COM 101

  I have trouble to expose a .NET assembly in COM. It seems that I must be missing some basic step because I think I followed all tutorials and documentation I found as well as common sense, but still when I do (in a test VBScript): Set o = CreateObject("MyLib.MyClass") It keeps saying that the object cannot be created. Here are the steps I have done: I have simple one method dummy class with no attributes. The class is in a class library which has "Make assembly COM-visible" ticked in Visual Studio. The class library is signed. The DLL is registered via RegAsm.exe with the /codebase parameter (I don’t want / cannot add the DLL to GAC). Just to be sure, I tried to copy the library to the same directory as the test VBScript, but it does not help. Edit: I should have mentioned that the I can instantiate the class in COM if I put the DLL into GAC.

I can print a test page, which is processed/printed correctly. The next time printing is attempted (say printing a second test page), the page is not printed and the printer is set to disabled. • JSF : able to do mass update but unable to update a single row in a datatable

  I have a simple data object: Car. I am showing the properties of Car objects in a JSF datatable. If i display the properties using inputText tags, i am able to get the modified values in the managed bean. However i just want a single row editable. So have placed a edit button in a separate column and inputText and outputText for every property of Car. the edit button just toggles the rendering of inputText and outputText. Plus i placed a update button in a separate column which is used to save the updated values. However on clicking the update button, i still get the old values instead of the modified values.   Hello I could not understand why after logging in from address: http://localhost/en/accounts/login/?next=/en/test/ I get refirected to http://localhost/accounts/profile/ So i ran search in django files and found that this address is the default LOGIN_REDIRECT_URL for django. What i did not understand is why it gets redirected to there. I guessed, that my login form's post address should be : /accounts/login/?next=/en/test/ instead of /accounts/login/ I wrote it into template and it worked. But since the redirect url changes dynamically, how can i make this login post forms address change dynamically too? is there a templatetag for that or something? Alan

• How do I open an already opened file with a .net StreamReader?

  I have some .csv files which I'm using as part of a test bench. I can open them and read them without any problems unless I've already got the file open in Excel in which case I get an IOException: System.IO.IOException : The process cannot access the file 'TestData.csv' because it is being used by another process. This is a snippet from the test bench: using (CsvReader csv = new CsvReader(new StreamReader(new FileStream(fullFilePath, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read)), false)) { // Process the file } Is this a limitation of StreamReader? I can open the file in other applications (Notepad++ for example) so it can't be an O/S problem. Maybe I need to use some other class? If anyone knows how I can get round this (aside from closing excel!) I'd be very grateful.

• Avoiding EXC_BAD_ACCESS when using the delegate pattern

  A have a view controller, and it creates a "downloader" object, which has a reference to the view controller (as a delegate). The downloader calls back the view controller if it successfully downloads the item. This works fine as long as you stay on the view, but if you navigate away before the download is complete I get EXC_BAD_ACCESS. I understand why this is happening, but is there any way to check if an object is still allocated? I tried to test using delegate != nil, and [delegate respondsToSelector:], but it chokes. if (!self.delegate || ![self.delegate respondsToSelector:@selector(downloadComplete:)]) { // delegate is gone, go away quietly [self autorelease]; return; } else { // delegate is still around [self.delegate downloadComplete:result]; } I know I could, a) have the downloader objects retain the view controller b) keep an array of downloaders in the view controller, and set their delegate values to nil when I deallocate the view controller. • Staging database good practices

  Hi, I'm about to deploy to production a fairly complex site and for the first time need a staging environment where I can test things in a more realistic environment, especially with regard to some external services that cannot be run locally. My general plan is to develop & test first locally, push simple changes (small bug fixes, HTML/CSS, JS, etc) direct to production, and for larger changes, push first to staging subdomain for thorough testing and then to production. I don't think that I need to keep the staging and production databases in sync (occasional manual updating would do) but I'm wondering if there are any general good practices with regard to maintaing a staging environment in relation to a production environment, especially when it comes to databases. Any general thoughts/advice/experience would be appreciated.

• Objective C: Create arrays from first array based on value

  I have an array of strings that are comma separated such as: Steve Jobs,12,CA Fake Name,21,CA Test Name,22,CA Bill Gates,44,WA Bill Nye,21,OR I have those values in an NSScanner object so that I can loop through the values and get each comma seperated value using objectAtIndex. So, what I would like to do, is group the array items into new arrays, based on a value, in this case, State. So, from those, I need to loop through, checking which state they are in, and push those into a new array, one array per state. CA Array: Steve Jobs,12,CA Fake Name,21,CA Test Name,22,CA WA Array: Bill Gates,44,WA OR Array: Bill Nye,21,OR So in the end, I would have 3 new arrays, one for each state. Also, if there were additional states used in the first array, those should have new arrays created also. Any help would be appreciated!

• Regular Expression for any number divisible by 60 using C# .Net ?

  Hi there, I need to apply validation on input time intervals that are taken in as seconds. Now i am not really good at Regular expressions. So can any body help making a regular expression that can test whether a number is divisible by 60. I was wondering if i could use to test one that check that the number is divisible by 10 and then check whether the same is divisible by 6. For number divisible by 10 here [\d*0] is the expression i guess. Please correct me if i am wrong. Hope somebody solves my problem. Thanks

• Testing harness for online teaching?

  I have been asked to teach an online programming course, and I am looking for a test harness especially geared to education. Some students will have significant coding experience, but others will be total newbies. The course is an introduction to software development, mostly taught in C with some C++ and Java thrown in. In any case, I would like to read their source code only after a test suite has made sure that it compiles and executes properly. The students will also benefit from having a tool they can check their code against before submitting it. However, the Learning Management System my employer is using doesn't have such a system. Do you know of any LMS software that includes this feature? Which testing harness would you recommend in case I have to roll my own?
