I create a url and as part of the query string I pass in a page name a user created. This page can contain special characters like ëðû.   • How to select one object from a NSArray?

    First of all Merry Christmas to everyone!!! Currently I have a NSArray that has parsed content in it. When I do a NSLog of the array it prints out 20 objects with the parsed content that I needed. Anyways, I need to be able to choose just one object depending on what object I need. For example, let's say I only need object #5 and not all the array, how can this be done so I can put it into a string? I'm thinking I might have to use the index feature but I'm not sure how to set it up properly.   • Does writing data to server using Java URL class require response from server?

    I am trying to upload files using Java URL class and I have found a previous question on stack-overflow which explains very well about the details, so I try to follow it. And below is my code adopted from the sniplet given in the answer. My problem is that if I don't make a call to one of connection.getResponseCode() or connection.getInputStream() or connection.getResponseMessage() or anything which is related to reponse from the server, the request will never be sent to server. Why do I need to do this? Or is there any way to write the data without getting the response? P.S. I have developed a server-side uploading servlet which accepts multipart/form-data and save it to files using FileUpload.     Is there a way to achieve transliteration of characters between charsets in java? something similar to the unix command (or similar php function): iconv -f UTF-8 -t ASCII//TRANSLIT < some_doc.txt > new_doc.txt preferably operating on strings, not having anything to do with files I know you can can change encodings with the String constructor, but that doesn't handle transliteration of characters that aren't in the resulting charset.
